John Cena said goodbye to the WWE ring in the most emotional way possible, by smiling and tapping out to Gunther in his retirement match at Saturday Night\’s Main Event.
The Ring General departed the ring after getting the job done, leaving the Cenation Leader to absorb the energy of the crowd for one last time. The Last Real Champion first kissed the mat before getting up to greet the crowd.
As Cena was bowing to the fans in all corners, the locker room emptied. Led by Triple H and the two world champions, everyone gathered at the ringside to celebrate the ultimate WWE superstar one last time.
Both World Champion CM Punk and WWE Champion Cody Rhodes got in the ring and handed Cena their title belts after an exchange of words, urging him to pose with the championships one last time.
The fans booed Triple H for the finish as the 17-time world champion hugged The Game at the ring apron, though the WWE creative head was all smiles.
John Cena finally showed his gratitude to the crowd by bowing to the fans all around the arena. The GOAT then made his retirement official by leaving his boots and pads in the ring.
The wrestling legend finally exited the ring to a thunderous applause and made his way up to the ramp. He took the crowd in one last time and did his signature salute before slowly walking out of the arena, ending his career.
Finn Balor has shared his experience with John Cena as locker room leader.
The Judgment Day star spoke to The Sun for an interview before the upcoming Saturday Night\’s Main Event, where the Cenation Leader will be competing in his final match.
The former Universal Champion mentioned how he had a lot of wrestling experience but no experience in a locker room like WWE when he first debuted on the main roster in 2016. He recalled his first experience with John Cena upon his arrival, and noted how the 17-time world champion was a leader who led by example:
\”I get brought in like 2016, John was at the top and he\’s kind of like the leader in the locker room and backstage. He leads by example and not fear and threats.
He was just a really, really good leader that everyone looked up to and respected and admired for his work ethic. He was really, really easy to deal with, and I thought, wow, these WWE guys are really, really professional. I can\’t believe it\’s so easy.\”
Finn Balor, who made his wrestling debut in 2001, had long stints with NWA and NJPW before his WWE signing in 2014. After a successful NXT run, he made his main roster debut as part of the Raw brand in July 2016. Balor won a fatal four-way and later defeated Roman Reigns clean on his first night on the brand.
The former Prince Devitt mentioned that he had heard horror stories about backstage politics in WWE. As a new guy, he wondered if he\’d be seen as a threat by established talents. His dealings with the Hollywood star made him feel like the stories were wrong, but he soon realized why John Cena commanded the respect in the locker room like no one else:
\”[I thought], \’Things have really changed.\’ I was wrong. That only applies to John. There\’s only one John Cena. There\’s only one 17-time champion, future Hall of Famer. But no one commands the respect [he does], but gives the respect that he gives at the same time.
I guess I naively thought all WWE superstars were going to be like that and fast-forward 10-11 years, I\’ve discovered that that\’s not the case and it\’s made me even more grateful for how John treated me when I entered WWE and for that, I\’ll always be grateful.\”
John Cena has confirmed that his match with Gunther will be the final match of Saturday Night\’s Main Event tonight. Becky Lynch also shared how a brief exchange with Cena changed her perspective on the business. You can check out what Cena said while reflecting on his career before retirement here.
John Cena has revealed the one thing he wonders about his career.
The 17-time world champion made an appearance on Pat McAfee show and discussed how the tributes remind him of how lucky he has been in his career and in life. WWE recently posted a touching tribute video featuring stars paying tribute to the Cenation Leader.
\”So the relationship with each individual here is, they\’re all different. I think what I take away most from all this is, again, we did this together, and I understand exactly how lucky I am. I am like one of, if not the, luckiest human being on the face of the earth. Very rarely does life hand us a lottery ticket. I\’ve been getting lottery ticket after lottery ticket after lottery ticket.\”
John Cena then mentioned that the one thing he wonders about when reflecting back on his two-and-a-half-decade career is whether or not he has done enough. When he sees a video like this, where babyfaces and heels break character to give him a send-off, it validates his work:
\”Now every ticket is simply a chance to work harder. When I see something like this, when I begin to reflect on two and a half decades, the thing that I want to, I guess, be validated, and the thing that I always struggle with is, did I do enough? Did I reach enough people? Did I use my opportunity correctly? Did I make the most of this lottery ticket or stack of lottery tickets that you\’ve handed me?
Because I\’m a fan, I\’m an observer of life. I\’ve seen people waste them, and I\’ve seen people use them, and there\’s no better feeling, you want to root for the folks who use their lottery tickets. When I see something like this. It says that we shared a lot of moments, and that there\’s mutual respect from especially people who are kind of apprehensive and even in the face of the show, who respect the business, will give me a second of their time. It means the world to see all this, because it means hopefully I did okay with my lottery tickets.\”
John Cena has opened up about his special relationship with Stu.
The wrestling veteran made the final stop of his media tour before his upcoming retirement at Pat McAfee show. Among other things, he was asked to speak about Stu the cameraman, who has become an integral part of his presentation over the years.
The 17-time world champion revealed the story of why he started talking to Stu during his entrance. John Cena explained that at first, it was a way of defying a direction from WWE management:
\”So first of all, again, you hear me say this a lot. Nobody does it alone. Honestly, all these memorable moments that we have, I have, there\’s a partner attached, and more partners attached. I\’m talking about like Daggy catering, who feeds us. All the folks behind the scenes. I was told not to break the fourth wall, not to talk to the camera. So I said, \’Fuck it, I\’ll talk to the cameraman.\’ I can look right over the lens and Stu\’s there.\”
John Cena then discussed the philosophical side of this too. The Hollywood star noted that talking to Stu is his way of acknowledging all the people who help put together the show but never get the recognition:
\”We got a whole crew of camera folks and people that make this live event look the way it does, a whole TV truck of folks that shoot the cuts and make our stuff a lot better than it is. My conversation with Stu, who\’s an individual I care deeply for, is also a conversation with what I call the truck. Everybody in that room over there making sure we all look good.
Every time I say, \’Let\’s go to work,\’ those men and women have already been hard at work making the show awesome before the first bump is even taken. So Stu is kind of a conduit to my conversation, not only to the audience out there, because I\’m stealing a way to break the fourth wall, but it\’s also me talking to folks that I care about who never, ever, ever get to be in the center of a ring and have the audience go \’fantastic,\’ but without them, we are worthless.\”
The Cenation Leader appeared on Pat McAfee show for one final interview before his retirement match. During the talk, he was asked about the current state of the business and what future he sees for sports entertainment.
The former WWE Champion took an optimistic view. John Cena suggested that despite the rise of AI content, humans will continue to favor live entertainment and WWE will continue to benefit from this:
\”I honestly believe that live entertainment has a strong future. We don\’t know what the advent of new technologies will bring, but man, I think humans want to see humans do stuff.
And I think WWE and sports entertainment is in a real good spot. I think people like getting together in groups, and the more we do this [spent time on phone] all day, the more maybe we want to get together in an arena or stadium and just emote and lighten our backpacks a little bit. I think WWE is in a great spot to do that.\”
The 17-time world champion later discussed how the company has a deep talent pool as well. There was a time when they barely had anyone on the bench, but now people have to compete with each other for the spots. WWE continues to expand globally with plans for its first Italy PLE in 2026.
He mentioned how the salary structure has changed over the years as well, and talent today are paid the most they have ever been. John Cena explained that things are reaching a level where a 3 to 5 year run with the company can set you up for life. Cena faces Gunther tonight in his final match.
Randy Orton might be back in the WWE mix at the start of next year.
WWE Royal Rumble 2026 is set to emanate from Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, this January. The company recently sent Orton, along with Liv Morgan, Grayson Waller, and Omos to the Middle Eastern country for promotional work related to the WWE PLE.
The Kingdom\’s adviser, Turki Al-Sheikh, then posted a video featuring The Viper on his TikTok account. Apart from talking about ticket sales for the event, Orton also confirmed that he will be in the country for the show and teased making an appearance at the PPV or the preceding SmackDown:
\”Make sure you get your tickets and I will see you at the Royal Rumble or I will see you at SmackDown, and I will 100 percent see you here at the one and only Grove.\”
WWE superstar #RandyOrton speaks from Riyadh ? Don\’t miss him live at WWE Royal Rumble and WWE SmackDown ? Book your tickets now for #WWE SmackDown #riyadh#RiyadhSeason
Randy Orton was last seen on WWE programming during the October 3 episode of SmackDown. He teamed up with Cody Rhodes to take on the Vision on the show. The former World Champion was pinned by Bronson Reed after a stomp from Seth Rollins and a Tsunami from Reed in the match.
There is no news on the reason behind his absence from TV. WWE officials would like to load the Saudi Rumble with as much star power as possible. So it would make sense for Orton to make his return for the show. Ram Trucks will present Royal Rumble 2026 as part of their new multi-year deal with WWE.
Becky Lynch has revealed a recent exchange with John Cena that changed her perspective.
WWE recently dropped a new video featuring a number of stars discussing the best advice they have gotten from the Cenation Leader. The YouTube video saw names such as Cody Rhodes, CM Punk and more discussing advice from the wrestling legend before his upcoming retirement match.
The last person to share the same was Becky Lynch. She recalled having a conversation with the 17-time world champion after having a bad match and feeling like she didn\’t do her best:
\”So just this past SummerSlam, I had a match, and it wasn\’t my favorite match. I came back, and I was downtrodden and I was upset. He was like, \’Hey, you good? You physically fine?\’
I said, \’Yeah.\’ He\’s like \’She physically fine?\’ I said, \’Yeah\’ \’Did the crowd react?\’ I said, \’Yeah\’. He said \’Then what\’s the problem?\’ And I said, \’It just wasn\’t my best.\’ And he said, \’Well, you get to do it tomorrow.\’\”
Becky Lynch defended her Women\’s IC Title against Lyra Valkyria at night 2 of SummerSlam 2025. She won the match and went on to hold the belt for another 3 months before dropping it to Maxxine Dupri in November.
The Man explained how this small exchange gave her new energy, and she was able to get her mind back in the game. She cut a great promo only the next night and received another text from the GOAT:
\”And I think that kind of simple advice of, nothing is ever permanent in this business, and we can go and one match, one promo, everything can turn everything around.
Then the next night I went out, I had a pretty damn good promo if I do say so myself. I may have name-dropped him in that promo, and he texted me and said, \’See, it can all turn around in one night.\’\”
The Miz has revealed that there was a discussion of him potentially facing John Cena in his retirement run, but a change of plans stopped it from happening.
The A-Lister talked about not getting the final match with his former rival during his appearance on the SI Media podcast. He recalled tagging with the Cenation Leader during a Raw episode back in April 2024, and discussed how he never thought it would be the last time he shared the ring with the wrestling legend:
\”Literally two years ago, I was in the ring at, I believe, Barclays, actually tagging with him, which kind of brought everything full circle. I didn\’t think that would be my last match with John Cena, but I guess it will be. It\’s a little upsetting.\”
John Cena faced a number of his former rivals in his retirement run, including names such as CM Punk, Randy Orton, AJ Styles, and Sami Zayn. Cena recently praised Natalya\’s book, saying he \”bawled his eyes out\” reading it.
The Miz mentioned that he was the first to put his name out there for a match when Cena announced his retirement tour. He claimed that certain circumstances stopped it from happening:
\”It\’s not even that it was shot down. There were instances where it could have happened, right? And things happen in this industry that nobody really knows about — and you don\’t need to know about. There was a moment where it could have happened, and then that moment went away because of certain circumstances, and it never came back.\”
Though the former World Champion later claimed that he is not angry about the situation. He\’s been in WWE long enough to know that things can change, and he likes to focus his energy on making the best of any given situation. Gunther has promised to break Cena\’s spirit at Saturday Night\’s Main Event.
There has been a lot of talk about which names will be in attendance for John Cena\’s retirement match at Saturday Night\’s Main Event tomorrow night.
PWInsider recently provided an update on the matter, revealing a number of names that are expected at the show and a couple who are currently not in the mix despite popular speculation.
While the possibility cannot be ruled out completely, the site reports that there is currently no indication that former WWE Chairman Vince McMahon or sitting US President Donald Trump will be in the arena.
Though the McMahon family will still be represented. Stephanie McMahon is expected at the event, and Linda McMahon is also expected at the show.
On the legends side, WWE Hall of Famer Trish Stratus is scheduled to be in the building, and it would be a surprise if other legends are not brought in for the night. WWE has planned surprises for the historic evening.
Michael Cole and Wade Barrett are set to be on commentary, and Joe Tessitore will join the returning Jesse Ventura for the broadcast. Here\’s more backstage news on the event\’s plans.
John Cena himself recently addressed the rumors about the position of his match on the card, confirming that he will main event the show. You can check out his full remarks here.
SmackDown is moving back to three hours very soon.
The Blue Brand of WWE had been a three-hour show from January to June this year, after returning to USA Network as part of the company\’s new TV deals.
The show moved back to its original runtime of two hours in July but there had been reports that this could change once again come January.
During the latest episode of SmackDown, Michael Cole confirmed the news, announcing that the show will move back to three hours starting January 2, 2026.
The weekly show currently airs on Friday at 8 P.M. ET on USA Network every week, and it\’s unknown if the timing of the broadcast will be adjusted to accommodate the new runtime. Here\’s this week\’s SmackDown preview.
The latest episode of the WWE show continued the celebration of John Cena\’s career before his retirement match tomorrow night with messages from a number of celebrities outside of the wrestling world, including people such as Tom Brady and Jimmy Fallon.
The Cenation Leader also recently addressed the reports that he will be in the opening match of Saturday Night\’s Main Event instead of closing the show. You can check out what he said here.
A number of celebrities have wished John Cena before his upcoming retirement.
WWE has been paying tribute to the legendary career of the Cenation Leader in various ways throughout the week, including a touching video featuring some of the company\’s top stars that was posted on social media yesterday.
The latest episode of SmackDown continued the celebration with a number of people outside of the wrestling world paying tribute.

The Cenation Leader recently cleared the confusion over the match order of the night, confirming that he will indeed be main eventing the show.
John Cena has opened up about his difficult relationship with his father growing up and their recent reconciliation.
The Cenation Leader stopped by the Joe Rogan podcast in his media tour ahead of the retirement match. The 2-hour conversation saw the WWE star touching on a number of philosophical topics apart from the talk about his wrestling career.
One of the topics of discussion was how one can use past mistakes and painful moments as motivators for their life. John Cena gave a very personal example to explain the philosophy, mentioning how he resented his father growing up:
\”I had such a shitty relationship with my dad, and just recently, we\’ve mended fences, and he\’s 80, so I\’m glad I\’ve done this, because we don\’t last forever. We\’re all going to the dirt soon, you know, but I just wanted him to be something else. I always wanted that motherfucker to change. I wanted him to be something else. And finally, I got out of my own way.
The hard thing is meeting that guy where he\’s at. The hard thing is allowing him to be who he is. Take the weight off my backpack and say, like, Yo, I might have needed you to be this in my life, but because you weren\’t. Man, because of your absence in being the dad that I had in my mind, I got all these fucking cool male mentors, who gave me a key to the gym at 15 and said, \’You better fucking be here in the morning.\’ And like, Dude, I still can feel a key in my hand from Dave Nock.\”
The 17-time world champion named the Dean of Students at Cushing Academy as another one of his male mentors. He mentioned how the Academy leader inspired him to get better grades so he can play more sports and earn a scholarship. John Cena explained that he was able to meet students from poor houses as well as kids with ultra-rich parents at the academy, and there he learned to be friends with everyone:
\”I wouldn\’t have learned that in West Newbury, where it\’s 99.9% white, 1200 people in the small town, no stoplights. You either leave or you never leave. Just little things like that. You know what I\’m saying? Like Man, I should do this. Deciding to meet my dad where he\’s at and be like, \’Dude, whatever I thought you were, you\’re not. You\’re just you, and I loved you for you.\’
Man, when we sit there\’s some shit that he\’ll say that\’s all fucked up. He said some shit yesterday, like, I don\’t think John\’s last opponent should be [Gunther] and people listen to him because he\’s a wrestling fan. He\’s in the weird subculture zeitgeist. And I want to call my dad and be like, \’what the fuck are you doing?\’
But then, like, no, he\’s doing what he does. This is him. This is the John Cena I love. This is the guy I can sit down with. Part of that is being able to process all that, but the opportunity I get from that, I\’ve learned about my father\’s story. I\’ve learned about what he wants to do with his life, why he does what he does, maybe what he wanted to do, dreams he didn\’t have. So I can gain wisdom from there, but that\’s the hard part.
It\’s like getting out of your own fucking way to do the thing you really want to do. The easy thing to do is hold a grudge against my dad. What I really wanted to do was tell my dad I love him, and sit down with him and be like, \’Yo, let\’s fucking break bread. Talk about whatever you want,\’ and now we do that and it\’s great. That\’s a small example of the easy thing to do is sit on the couch and say, \’Fuck it. Somebody else\’s fault.\’ The tough thing to do is like [realizing] life is handing me a moment right now.\”
The upcoming Saturday Night\’s Main Event featuring John Cena\’s retirement match is one of the most anticipated wrestling events of the year. Fans have been both excited and emotional about the farewell of the former face of WWE and there has been a lot of talk about what the show will look like.
One major point of discussion has been the placement of The Cenation Leader\’s match on the show. Earlier reports suggested that the wrestling legend himself wanted to open the night so the NXT exhibition matches can get a bigger spotlight.
A lot of fans have been opposing this idea, however, believing that the Hollywood star should be in main event. Now latest talk suggests that people within the company believe the same.
According to an update from Fightful, the majority of the people within the promotion, including several of those in power, want John Cena to close the show. While Cena opening the event is \’on the table\’ the idea for him to close the night has also been floated and it appears no decision for the match order has been made yet.
The event is also expected to feature an updated look. A change in presentation for the show has been discussed since August and it\’s finally expected to be revealed this Saturday. Whether this will be a permanent change or not is yet to be seen.
John Cena is set to wrestle Gunther in his retirement match at Saturday Night\’s Main Event. Another update on the show reveals that the officials are planning some surprises for the special. You can check out more about it here.
The company has been flooding social media with videos of the Cenation Leader in preparation for his retirement match at the December 13 Saturday Night\’s Main Event.
One such video on their YouTube channel saw a number of big names such as Rhea Ripley, CM Punk, Cody Rhodes, and Roman Reigns, holding cards for the famous John Cena sayings and doing gestures made famous by him.
The 17-time world champion responded to this touching tribute from his colleagues on X, saying that sharing the locker room with all of them has made his journey special:
\”No one does it alone. Thank you to ALL I’ve ever had the chance to share canvas with, discuss the business, learn from, and all those who behind the scenes make what we do special. Saturday is for ALL of us. Let’s go to work! One Last Time!!!\”

Jesse “The Body” Ventura is set to make his return to the promotion for the latest edition of the classic WWE event. It\’s likely that the company will bring in a number of other legends to honor Cena at his final show.
Though this is not all, as reports suggest that the officials are planning additional surprises for SNME to make the night even more special. You can check out more about it here.
WWE is planning to make John Cena\’s final show special.
The Cenation Leader is set to face Gunther in his retirement match at the December 13, Saturday Night\’s Main Event from Capital One Arena in Washington, D.C.
Jesse “The Body” Ventura is set to make his return to the show after missing the last edition of SNME, though he is not expected to be the only legend in attendance.
With Cena having faced many legends in his career, it\’s almost guaranteed that the company will be bringing in a number of veterans to make the night more special.
Now PWInsider is reporting that World Heavyweight Champion CM Punk will also be at the show. NXT star Joe Hendry is likely to attend, and at least one more TNA talent apart from Leon Slater is expected to be in attendance.
Not only this, but the site reports that the officials are planning even more \’surprises\’ for the upcoming event, although the specifics of the same are not known at the moment.
Slater will be teaming up with NXT upstart Je\’Von Evans at the show to face the current tag team champions, AJ Styles and Dragon Lee, in one of the exhibition matches of the night.
Other matches announced for the event include Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes facing NXT Champion Oba Femi and Bayley facing former Women\’s North American Champion Sol Ruca.
The first teaser of the Street Fighter movie has been released.
The upcoming live-action movie based on the classic fighting game features WWE stars Roman Reigns in the role of Akuma and Cody Rhodes in the role of Guile. Japanese wrestling veteran Hirooki Goto also has a role in the film, and he plays the part of E. Honda.
The first teaser trailer of the film was released at the 2025 Game Awards on Thursday night. The official X account of the movie then also released individual posters for each of the characters, giving us a better look at their part in the upcoming project:
The Street Fighter movie, directed by Kitao Sakurai, is set to be released on October 16, 2026. It will serve as a reboot of the franchise.
Apart from the wrestling names, the movie features a number of other celebrities in various roles, including rapper 50 Cent and comedian Andrew Schulz.
Roman Reigns and Cody Rhodes most recently teamed up for the WarGames match at the Survivor Series PPV last month but their team ended up losing the bout.
The American Nightmare refused to be helped up by The Tribal Chief after this loss, and the Head of The Table informed him that it would be the final time they would be teaming together.
Chelsea Green has revealed how her recent viral moment came about.
The Women\’s US Champion recently spoke to Chris Van Vliet for a new interview. Among other things, she was asked about her video with Ethan Page that recently went viral after the November 4 episode of NXT.
The show saw Joe Hendry crashing a celebration of Green and Page, with Thea Hail smearing both of them with cream. Chelsea did a backstage video after the episode where she claimed that she had \’never been creamed on like this before\’ and the whole thing became a social media hit.
Revealing how the video came about, Chelsea Green noted that it was something that she came up with on the spot. The current AAA Mixed Tag Champion claimed that she was shocked that the company decided to post the whole thing.
Though she later mentioned that she probably shouldn\’t be surprised since the officials have done similar things with Rhea Ripley and Dominik Mysterio before:
“Actually, that just came off the top of my head. No, I can’t believe they posted that. I am shocked. I came back from the creaming, I said it, and I was like, ‘Okay, do we need to redo that?’
And he was like, ‘No, I’m gonna post it.’ I’m like, what?!\” Ethan was like, ‘No, no, please God no!’ The things that I make that man do, oh my gosh. God bless him. But yeah, then they posted it, and it went viral. I was shocked.\”
Chelsea Green also talked about her pairing with Ethan Page, saying that she doesn\’t know who came up with the idea.
The WWE star revealed that she wasn\’t aware of Page\’s work before their partnership and had to google the NXT star when she was told they\’ll be working together. Though Green noted that she became a fan of the NXT North American Champion the first time she saw her promo.
Fans of the 43-year-old became concerned about his status with the company after he picked up back-to-back losses on TV recently. He was first defeated by Gunther in the finals of the Last Time is Now tournament, and then Logan Paul pinned the former US Champion in a singles match.
A beatdown at the hands of the Vision followed the match with Logan on Raw this Monday. The segment ended with Bronson Reed delivering a Tsunami to Knight on top of a car, leading to angry fans rallying on social media.
Fightful Select recently provided an update on this booking, saying that people within the promotion were actually confused with this outrage. They claimed that the whole things was a standard story beat that will be revisited later.
The site also put a stop to rumors of LA Knight potentially being on his way out of the company. They noted that the former NXT star signed a new deal with the promotion in 2024 and he has many years left on his contract.
Though they couldn\’t provide an update on the immediate plans for the former TNA star. So it\’s possible that Knight could be kept off TV for some time to sell the attack on Raw before he returns.
Samoa Joe paid tribute to John Cena before his upcoming retirement.
The AEW World Champion defended his title against Eddie Kingston in the latest Winter Is Coming special of Dynamite, coming live from Gateway Center Arena in College Park, Georgia, this week.
A spot in the match saw the former WWE star locking in the STF submission on Kingston and doing the patent salute, which the Cenation Leader always does during his entrance:
Kingston bit the finger of Joe to get out of the submission, but he was unable to win the match in the end. Joe locked in the Coquina Clutch and let his opponent fade out to retain his title and end the special episode of Dynamite.
Samoa Joe had discussed John Cena’s retirement and the tribute paid to him during the Crown Jewel match with AJ Styles in an interview earlier this year. The AEW Champion had said that he had ‘unyielding amounts of respect’ for both the competitors of this bout.
John Cena never had a one-on-one match with the AEW star on TV. The two did get a chance to lock up for a couple of WWE Live Event matches back in 2017.
Apart from this, the Winter is Coming special of Dynamite saw the crowning of the inaugural Women’s Tag Team Champions, as well as the debut of a legend’s son. You can check out more details about it here.
The annual Winter is Coming special of Dynamite took place from the Gateway Center Arena in College Park, Georgia, this Wednesday night, featuring names such as Toni Storm, Swerve Strickland, Hangman Page, and more in action.
One notable moment of the night came before the Dynamite broadcast began, however, when Steve Borden Jr. made his debut for the promotion. The former College Football star & the son of the legendary Sting, faced Kiran Gray in this dark match and picked up the victory.
This wasn\’t the only dark match before the show, as Ortiz also made his in-ring return in a pre-show dark match on December 10. This was his first match for AEW in almost two years, and Ortiz lost the bout to HOOK.
Borden Jr. made his wrestling debut earlier this year in October at a non-traditional wrestling event, taking place inside an exhibition of artist Raymond Pettibon.
The young star also competed at a DEFY Wrestling event in Seattle last month. He had picked up a victory against Kiran Gray at the indie show too.
It\’s unknown if the son of the wrestling legend has signed with Tony Khan\’s promotion. Stay tuned to SEScoops for more updates on his future.
AEW presented the annual Winter is Coming special of Dynamite from Gateway Center Arena in College Park, Georgia, tonight. The show opened with the finals of the Women\’s Tag Team Championship tournament.
The duo of Harley Cameron & Willow Nightingale squared off against Mina Shirakawa & Toni Storm in the opening match of the night. Shirakawa and Cameron started the bout, and it wasn\’t long before we got a brawl with all four contestants in the ring.
After an impressive showing, the four women once again found themselves facing each other in the ring at the same time. The Timeless Love Bombs were able to get the advantage, and Toni delivered the Storm Zero on Harley in what many thought would be the ending of the bout.
THE BABES OF WRATH ARE THE FIRST EVER AEW WOMEN'S WORLD TAG TEAM CHAMPIONS!
Willow, however, somehow managed to break the fall. Nightingale then brought the Timeless one out of the ring with her and took the former AEW Women\’s Champion out with a big DDT on the floor.
Back in the ring, Shirakawa continued battling Cameron and delivered a number of moves. Harley managed to stay in the match and got the upper hand with an inverted DDT at the last second. She then tagged in her partner, and Nightingale finally delivered a Doctor Bomb on Mina to get the win for her team.
The inaugural Women\’s Tag Team Champions were interviewed by Renee Paquette after the bout. The Timeless Love Bombs then congratulated them in the ring to end the segment.

Jeff Jarrett has responded to Chris Jericho\’s latest remarks.
The wrestling veteran recently had an interview with Adventure Gamers. He talked about things such as the early days of TNA, briefly being part of the Four Horsemen, his role in AEW, and more.
When asked about Chris Jericho downplaying AEW\’s popularity by calling TNA the #2 promotion, Jarrett claimed that it was a good clickbait headline, but suggested that AEW\’s business speaks for itself:
\”In the world of clickbait, that was good clickbait. But you know, the realistic side of things is, AEW has two hours on TV, two hours on TNT, monthly pay-per-view stadium shows. I think that absolutely speaks for itself.\”
Chris Jericho has been absent from AEW TV since April this year. The popular belief is that he is waiting for his deal with Tony Khan\’s promotion to expire so he can make a return to WWE.
Both Khan and The Young Bucks have spoken positively about the former AEW Champion in his absence, saying they hope Jericho stays with the promotion.
The wrestling legend himself seems to be doing everything he can to keep himself in the news during his absence. This includes his comments about TNA as well as posting photos with his former WWE partner to keep the rumor mills churning
The former US Champion recently spoke to Eduardo Bates for a new interview where he discussed the controversy surrounding his WWE release in detail.
The 36-year-old first claimed that he does not feel bad about his WWE exit, and he is grateful for the run he had with the company.
The former WWE star then addressed the reports of him being fired for ducking communication from the company officials, explaining that at most, he was unreachable for a couple of hours because of travel issues:
“I never missed dates and never stopped answering the cell phone as many gossipy people who broke the news said. Yes, I was traveling and they called me.
What happened was that I had a day trip because I was not scheduled and they called me to me. I returned the call at about one or two hours, but nothing to do with the fact that I didn’t want to answer or that I disappeared.”
In a similar interview recnetly, Andrade had confirmed the reports of his wellness policy violations in his second run. He explained it by saying that he had taken substances that are allowed in Mexican wrestling but forbidden by WWE policy.
The former NXT Champion also reiterated that his lawyers are in communication with the company. They are working out a deal to reduce the period of the non-compete clause so the wrestling star can return to the ring as soon as possible.

Logan Paul has explained Travis Scott\’s quiet WWE exit.
The music star was present for John Cena\’s Elimination Chamber heel turn this year, where he busted Cody Rhodes\’ eardrum. There was talk of Scott potentially wrestling in WWE after he showed up at WrestleMania 41, but the whole angle has been dropped by the company without any explanation.
The YouTube star was asked about this turn of events on the latest episode of his Impaulsive podcast. Logan Paul mentioned that he\’s never officially been told why Travis Scott parted ways with the company.
The former US Champion then claimed that he can read between the lines, however, and suggested that the rapper no showed the WWE show where his in-ring debut was set to be announced:
\”I was very excited for him to enter the WWE. We were supposed to team up with one other person. It was supposed to be three-on-three.
The day that it was supposed to be announced, he didn’t show up. I think what happened is, my guess is, he probably realized at some point that it’s really physically demanding, really hard, and a lot of work.\”
Logan Paul later explained how wrestling is about navigating pain, and every move hurts. He believes that at some point, Scott realized the true nature of the sport and decided not to pursue it further.
The Vision member did not reveal the exact plan for Scott\’s WWE debut that was nixed. Though Paul teamed with John Cena to face Cody Rhodes and Jey Uso at Money In The Bank this year.
The event was only a couple of months removed from WrestleMania 41 and the tag match would have been the perfect place for Travis\’ in-ring debut.
In a recent interview with Chris Van Vliet John Cena talked about his WrestlePalooza encounter with The Beast Incarnate. Specifically they discussed very short length of the bout which the former UFC star dominated from start to finish.
The Cenation Leader explained that he didn\’t mind getting squashed by Lesnar because he\’s already on his way out and the loss helped build his opponent as an attraction. He then made a curious remark saying Brock is set to \’go into sunset\’ in Minnesota very soon:
\”I’ve sat in this seat before. You have to figure out who gets the shine that night and if, in his return again, only my perspective. This attraction where we are going to build until he goes into the sunset, which is, I think, in Minnesota? Creatively, it’s very soon.
To create a mountain to climb for someone, you have to build the mountain. I’m on my way out. It’s not like it’s gonna hurt me, but I’m a viable commodity, and it’s a great main event. See these two titans for the last time, and it’s ok.\”
WWE is set to host the SummerSlam 2026 from Minneapolis, Minnesota on August 1 and 2 next year. As a native of the area, Brock Lesnar has a lot of history in the state. He\’s previously represented University of Minnesota in the NCAA championship and the wrestling veteran was also briefly a part of the Minnesota Vikings in NFL.
The company brought Lesnar back this year despite considerable backlash from fans. Whether or not Brock actually retires next year will be revealed at the appropriate time but it\’d make sense if the officials brought him back knowing it was the wrestling veteran\’s final run with the promotion.
