Elias has agreed to a multi-year contract extension with WWE.

The news was first announced by Ryan Satin on the latest episode of WWE Backstage and the company later confirmed it on their website with a post as well.

The Drifter started his wrestling career in 2008 and was signed by WWE in 2014. He was assigned to the NXT brand after his signing where he stayed until 2017.

Elias then made his main roster debut in April 2014. Though he spent the first few months of his main roster stint, appearing on various backstage segments.

The former NXT star was drafted to SmackDown Live during the 2019 draft and has been a part of the Blue Brand\’s roster ever since.

He took part in the King Of The Ring tournament last year and made it to the semi-finals. However, he was later removed from the competition due to an ankle injury.

With this announcement, Elias has joined a long list of stars WWE has successfully managed to re-sign in recent months ever since the inception of AEW.

The company has not revealed any detail on Elias\’ contract so it\’s hard to say how long he will be staying with the promotion. But in recent times the standard length for new WWE contracts have been 4 to 5 years.

  • Taya Valkyrie On Which WWE Stars She Would Like To Face

Impact Wrestling Knockouts Champion Taya Valkyrie recently talked to media ahead of her title defense in a triple threat match at the Hard To Kill PPV event.

During the interview, she was asked about possible inter-promotional matches and which stars from other wrestling companies she would like to face in 2020.

Replying to it, the Impact Champion first took the name of the AEW Women\’s Champion Riho and while commenting on the WWE side, she said that there are a few dream matches there:

\”As far as WWE, there are a few dream matches there, obviously, for me; I look at someone like Charlotte Flair. I look at lots of the girls in NXT.

I\’ve only wrestled Mia Yim once; I think that she\’s very talented and would love to do that again one day. Candice LeRae and I barely touched. We\’ve just only ever really wrestled in a tag match.\”

Valkyrie continued by saying that it\’s crazy for her to think that she hasn\’t wrestled these people but it\’s 2020 and who knows what can happen.

She explained that in 2020 with everyone working together and the wrestling community coming together can make these dream matches possible.

Taya Valkyrie defended her title against Jordynne Grace and ODB at tonight\’s Hard to Kill event in Dallas. You can check out her full interview at this link.

  • Paige & Others React To Triple H Joking About Her Being Promiscuous

WWE executive Triple H is getting some negative feedback to a joke he made about WWE Superstar Paige being promiscuous.

During a media interview to promote NXT Takeover: Blackpool II over the weekend, Triple H was asked about the in-ring futures of Edge and Paige. The Game first claimed that with the medical conditions, their return would partly depend on their own personal choice and the choice of WWE\’s medical personnel.

Triple H first claimed that with the medical conditions, their return would partly depend on their own personal choice and the choice of WWE\’s medical personnel. He then said that their family situations also come into account. In doing so, he dropped an interesting \’joke\’ about Paige\’s personal life.

“More importantly than that [returning to the ring], though, I would like to see them live long healthy lives. You know, Edge has kids. Paige – maybe. She probably has some she doesn’t know of.\”

The joke is better suited with a male as the target, since they\’d be more likely to have children they don\’t know about, but Paige got the message loud and clear. The former WWE Divas Champion says it\’s difficult to earn the respect of the public when her own boss mocks her publicly.

Renee Young and Nikki Bella expressed their support for Paige.

    More From Triple H

Elsewhere in the interview, Triple H brought in the example of Daniel Bryan. He said that they allow people to go back when their medical experts believe that they have done what it requires to rehab their situation and they are safe to go back to the ring.

Edge has been subject to many rumors since his SummerSlam spot and recent reports indicate that he could be working towards a possible comeback.

On the other hand, not much has been said about Paige\’s situation but she sparked rumors about her future when she recently claimed that she has a \’whole lot of career left\’ in her.

  • Joey Ryan On Why He Signed With Impact Wrestling

Joey Ryan was drawing interest from companies like AEW and WWE in 2019 but he chose to stick with independent wrestling and later signed a contract with Impact Wrestling.

His signing with Impact turned many heads due to the other offers he had and during the media scrum ahead of the Hard To Kill PPV, the indie star explained the reason behind his signing with the promotion.

Ryan first explained that he \’loves\’ independent wrestling and the fact that Impact offered him a non-exclusive deal was probably the most appealing part of their offer:

\”The fact that Impact offered me a deal that was non-exclusive, and I could still do the independent scene, that was probably the most appealing part to it. I don\’t think I ever want to give that up. I\’m exclusive, as far as national television … which meant I can still do a lot of the independents that I really, really enjoy.\”

Later in the interview, Joey Ryan was also asked about his dream opponents in Impact and while he didn\’t take any names, the Impact star showed interest in wrestling some knockouts.

He explained that he has done a lot of intergender wrestling and since Impact really embraces intergender wrestling, he would like to do some stuff with Knockouts in the Knockouts Division.

  • Brian Cage Reportedly Signs Multi-Year Contract With AEW

Former Impact World Champion Brian Cage has signed a new multi-year deal with All Elite Wrestling, according to reports from SoCal Uncensored.

Cage\’s contract with Impact Wrestling expired recently and he had an offer from Impact to stay with the company as well as a lucrative offer from ROH to join the promotion.

However, while the offer from Ring Of Honor was the highest paying deal, Brian Cage decided to sign with All Elite Wrestling due to the exposure they currently have.

No start date has been given for Cage\’s AEW contract so it\’s hard to say when he will make his debut for the company. Though the reports say that he is expected to join the promotion soon.

It\’s interesting to note here that Cage almost made his AEW debut during the Double Or Nothing PPV while he was still the Impact World Champion.

He was expected to participate in the Casino Battle Royal on the show but Impact Officials were not in the favor of having their world champion lose a pre-show battle royal, and so he was pulled from the event.

It\’s said that his signing with AEW will not affect any of his announced independent dates but we will have to see if he continues to take bookings afterwards.

  • Tessa Blanchard Wins Impact World Title At Hard To Kill

Tessa Blanchard has made history by becoming the first woman to win the Impact World Championship at their Hard To Kill PPV this Sunday Night.

Impact had announced that Blanchard will be getting a shot at Sami Callihan\’s World title at the PPV. The match took place in the main event of the show and both the stars put on a great performance during the bout.

Callihan tried to distract the referee towards the end of the fight by bringing the world title into the ring. He then put on his brass knuckles while the official was putting the title away.

However, Tessa Blanchard countered his attack by hitting a low blow on the Impact Champion and the match continued after a failed pinfall attempt from the female star.

The ending moments of the match then saw Blanchard hitting two Canadian Destroyers. The second Destroyer came off of the second rope and Tessa then pinned Sami after hitting him with a buzzsaw DDT:

With this win, Tessa Blanchard joins a long list of wrestling legends who have held the Impact World title in the past including the likes of Kurt Angle, Sting and AJ Styles.

Now it would be interesting to see how long her reign as the champion lasts and what challenges Blanchard has to face during her run with the title.

  • Marty Scurll Re-Signs With ROH, Joins Creative Team

\’\’The Villain\’ Marty Scurll has signed a new contract with ROH.

Scurll\’s original deal with the company expired back in November last year and he has been \’testing the waters\’ ever since by working for various promotions and weighing his options.

While many believed that Marty Scurll was most likely to sign with AEW once his contract expired, none of the AEW officials had made any confident comments about the same.

It was then reported that Ring Of Honor has offered the former Champion a very good deal with significant money. The former Being The Elite star was offered \’WWE main roster money\’ for working around 40 dates per year with ROH.

What\’s interesting to note here is that according to the reports, Marty has not only signed as a performer but he will also be joining the booking team of the company.

It was initially reported that Marty Scurll will be taking on the role of lead booker but Pro Wrestling Sheet has since confirmed that he will be sharing the position with Executive Producer Hunter Johnston aka Delirious.

There is little debate about the fact that Ring of Honor lost its creative direction in 2019. Delerious will reportedly focus on producing ROH shows, while Scurll will be instrumental in strategizing the company\’s \”bigger picture.\”

As part of his new role, Scurll will help rehabilitate the brand\’s image. Part of that will involve strengthening its partnerships with New Japan Pro Wrestling and the National Wrestling Alliance. There has also been some buzz that Scurll will attempt to open a dialogue between ROH and All Elite Wrestling (AEW).

There is no word on the length of Marty\’s new contract but Ring Of Honor has been signing talents for 2 years recently and it\’s presumed that Scurll\’s contract is also of a similar length.

  • Triple H Teases Retirement From Active Competition

Triple H recently spoke to Metro.co.uk to promote the upcoming Takeover: Blackpool II event and the Game spoke about a number of interesting topics during the interview.

CM Punk has been in news in the recent months due to his new role at WWE Backstage and a lot of people have been wondering if this new relationship will turn out to be the foundation for Punk\’s return to WWE ring.

Stephanie McMahon has previously said that she wants both Punk and his wife AJ Lee back in WWE and when asked about his wife\’s comments, the former World Champion also replied positively:

‘If it was right for them, for the company, for everyone involved, then absolutely. I don’t think that’s ever been a factor, of somebody, saying “this person should be here, or that person should be here”.

Triple H continued by saying that incredible talent are always incredible talent and mentioned how The Boss Mr. McMahon has echoed the sentiment never say never, over and over again.

Triple H On Possible Retirement From In-Ring Action

The King Of Kings has seen an increase in his backstage responsibilities lately but at the same time, his participation in active competition has declined.

The last time he laced up his boots for a match was at WrestleMania last year where H competed in a No Holds Barred match against Batista and since then people have been wondering if we have seen the last of the Game\’s in-ring career.

While he did not address the issue directly, Triple H did tease a possible retirement during the interview, while explaining how he has to remind himself that he is not young anymore:

\”Sometimes I look at the talent and I think, oh man, if I was 25 and could step in the ring with them – but then the reality quickly comes back to me. \’You’re not 25 and you can’t do that!\’

The business evolves, and in some way – I look at it, from a story telling standpoint, that’s what we’re sort of teaching them and that comes from experience. But the physicality of it and the things that a lot of talent are able to do – I couldn’t do that anyway!’

The Vice President went on to admit that there are a lot of current talents he would have loved to work with if he was in his prime but he remembers that he is not young anymore.

Triple H has not given any timetable for retirement so it\’s likely that he will be available for possible storylines in the foreseeable future and step back in the ring a few more times before finally calling it a career.

However, at 50 years old, it\’s pretty sure that the former World Champion won\’t be returning to the ring for a extended run and any match could be the last match of his career.

  • NXT Star Reportedly Unhappy With Her Position

So far we have heard talks of stars being unhappy on the main roster but now a latest report reveals that an NXT star is also not satisfied with her position in the company.

According to reports from Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Radio, NXT star Io Shirai is “not necessarily happy\” with how she has been used in the Black and Yellow brand.

Meltzer did not go into the details on the reason behind her unhappiness, but it was noted that Io Shirai\’s NXT pay is \’nothing special.\’ She used to make more money in Japan while working fewer dates.

Another possible reason for this could be Shirai\’s relationship with NJPW star Evil. Io is engaged to the Japanese star but there is no word yet on when the two wrestling stars are planning to tie the knot.

On a related note, it\’s been said previously that Stardom promotion in Japan is interested in bringing both Io Shirai and Kairi Sane back to the company.

The women\’s promotion was bought up by NJPW\’s parent company Bushiroad last year and it’s expected that they will be putting a lot of resources into the promotion.

So they can make a significant offer to try and bring the female stars back to Japan when their contract expires and WWE is very likely to counteract this by calling Io up to the main roster which will greatly increase her pay.

Kairi Sane signed a 3 years long deal with WWE in March 2017 which means that her current contract should be expiring soon. On the other hand, Io signed with the promotion around the summer of 2018 but there are no more details available on her deal.

  • CM Punk Blasts The Miz Over WWE Backstage Remarks

It looks like CM Punk wasn\’t very happy with some remarks from the Miz made during the latest episode of WWE Backstage. The self proclaimed \’Best In The World; blasted the A-Lister over his comments on the show in his latest \’pipe bomb\’ attack.

The Miz was the special guest on the WWE series this week and he cut a promo on his appearance while talking to the camera as the filming for the show was wrapping up.

However interestingly, towards the end of the promo, the former World Champion apparently took a shot at CM Punk after asking Renee Young if there was any better episode of WWE Backstage:

\”Oh yeah, we are now done with WWE Backstage, they are taking the microphones off me. It was great, it was amazing. I feel like this was the best WWE Backstage episode ever. Oh, sorry. I didn\’t \’change the culture,\’ my bad. my bad.\”

The WWE on Fox twitter account later posted a clip of this promo on Twitter. CM Punk responded to it with a tweet of his own and in the response which has since been deleted, he told the WWE star to \”go suck a blood money covered d**k in Saudi Arabia\”:

    \"CM

Though this tweet wasn\’t online for very long and it seems that the WWE on Fox account has taken down their post featuring the video of the promo as well.

For those who don\’t know, CM Punk made a surprise appearance on WWE Backstage during the closing moments of the November 12th episode last year.

He cut a short promo during the appearance saying \”It\’s as simple as this, just when they think they\’ve got the answers, I change the culture.\”

There have been no response from any other guests of WWE Backstage on the matter and it would be interesting to know what Fox officials think about Punk\’s comments.

  • The Young Bucks Reveal Their Dream Match

The Young Bucks are considered to be one of the top tag teams in the wrestling world right now but surprisingly, one of their dream matches is not a regular tag team bout.

The duo recently appeared on ESPN West Palm where they talked about a number of things and the team of Matt Jackson and Nick Jackson also revealed their dream matches.

Nick Jackson was the first to respond to the question about the same and he explained that he would like to see a 6 men tag team match between Young Bucks & Kenny Omega and The New Day:

\”Off the top of my head, I would say The Elite versus New Day because that was something that was actually close to happening at one point, but it just never happened but I think if that six-man would\’ve happened, it would\’ve tore the house down,\”

Matt Jackson then responded to the question as well and he revealed that his dream match would be between the brothers and the Revival.

Explaining the reason behind this, Matt claimed that he feels like there is some real-life tension between the two teams and he doesn\’t know if it\’s competitive or friendly.

  • WWE Reportedly Signs Mae Young Classic Competitor

WWE has signed former Ring Of Honor star and former Mae Young Classic competitor Mercedes Martinez to a contract, according to SoCal UNCENSORED.

Martinez has been active in the wrestling world from the past couple of decades and she first started training for an in-ring career in late 2000.

She made her debut in November that year and the female star went on to wrestle for a number of indie promotions in England and America in the coming years.

Her first big break came in 2006 when she made her debut for Ring Of Honor on March 25 where she competed in a Shimmer sanctioned match.

She was brought in by WWE for the inaugural Mae Young Classic tournament where she made it to the semi-finals before being eliminated by Shayna Baszler.

Since then, Mercedes has made a number of appearances for the company on the NXT brand and she competed in the second Mae Young Classic tournament as well.

  • Baron Corbin On Why Vince McMahon Is His Fan

There have been reports of Vince McMahon being high on Baron Corbin and they seem true considering the fact that he has been pushed as one of the top heels of the company in recent times.

During a recent interview on the Cheap Heat podcast, the former NXT star talked about a number of things and he also revealed why he thinks the Boss likes him.

According to Baron Corbin, Mr McMahon is a fan of his, because he is a big dude with legitimate toughness and he is a little bit old school:

\”I think Vince McMahon has been a fan of mine because I\’m a big dude, a little bit old school, and have legitimate toughness. He sees motivation in certain guys and certain guys want to have it and some don\’t.\”

Continuing on the topic, King Corbin revealed how they came up with the ideas for his Constable Corbin gimmick including his shaved head look and in ring attire.

  • Mick Foley On Why NXT Has Advantage Over AEW

WWE Hall Of Famer Mick Foley recently had an interview with Inside The Ropes where he talked about things like working with Triple H, how special the Madison Square Garden venue is for him and more.

One of the things that have taken the wrestling world by storm in the past year is the war between AEW and NXT. The upstart promotion which only formed at the beginning of 2019 has been giving tough competition to WWE\’s third brand.

However talking about the competition between these two shows, Mick Foley claimed that NXT has advantage over AEW because the guys at the Black and Yellow brand have been groomed for the bigger stage:

\”NXT\’s advantage is that their guys have been trained to work for the camera, and I think they have an advantage of having more seasoned stars and now a dedicated team writing for them, But in the end it comes to down to who has the ability to tell better long-term stories and get the audience engaged.\”

Elsewhere in the interview, Foley also discussed how AEW stars want to put on the best match they can whenever they are in the ring but he explained that this doesn\’t necessarily lead to the best promotion.

Mick Foley detailed his comments recalling how WWE officials told him to save his hardcore stuff for the big matches and he claimed that it improved his longevity.

Apart from this, the Hardcore Legend also talked about the difference between Bray Wyatt\’s Fiend character and his old one. You can check out his comments on the matter at this link.
