  • Reason WWE Is Holding Off Major Roman Reigns Match

Fans have been waiting for a singles match between The Undisputed World champion Roman Reigns and Drew McIntyre since the Scottish Warrior moved to the SmackDown roster in October last year.

These expectations were once again met with disappointment when the company announced a six men tag team match for WrestleMania Backlash main event.

Dave Meltzer provided some updates on this feud during the latest Wrestling Observer Radio. He revealed that WWE is holding off a singles match between McIntyre and Reigns for a bigger event.

WWE is set to hold not one but three major Stadium shows in the span of three months starting from July. The first one will be Money In The Bank from Allegiant Stadium.

This will be followed by the SummerSlam PPV from Nissan Stadium and the Clash Of The Castle special from United Kingdom.

Officials consider Drew McIntyre vs. Roman Reigns to be a dream match. It\’s likely that their singles encounter will be saved for one of these shows.

There is no word yet on what the company is planning for the unified titles. We will have to see if this match ends up being for only one of the world titles or both of them when the time comes.

I will say this, I will pick AJ only because I wrestled him.\” said Kurt Angle, \”I never wrestled Daniel Bryan and if I did I might change my mind, so I’m saying AJ right now because I wrestled him.”

The former Raw GM has a long history with the Phenomenal One. Both were part of TNA for a long time and did some of their best work while being part of the promotion. Angle returned to WWE in 2017, a year after Styles made his debut.

  • Gunther On If WWE Pushed Him For Move To US

After years of resisting it, Gunther finally moved to the US and made his main roster debut last month. According to him, it wasn\’t WWE that prompted him to make the decision, and instead he brought it up himself.

The former NXT UK champion recently had an interview with Cultoholic Wrestling. Among other things, he talked about his decision to move to the US.

Gunther claimed that WWE officials never pushed him to do anything. He just felt like he had grown out of NXT UK and it was finally the time to move:

\”They never pushed me to do anything. They have always been good to me. Literally, they [have] never asked me to change anything about myself or what I wanted to do and stuff like that. They [have] always been very good to me. I just figured myself.

In general, in life I am big about being proactive about things that happen. I think you never get If you don\’t ask, is that smart saying.\” said Gunther, \”So I just brought it up myself and I said, \’I\’m ready to doing that\’\”

  • Gunther On WWE Breaking Up The Imperium

The last few months have brought a lot of change for Gunther. He has finally moved to US, made his main roster debut, and parted ways with one of his old partners.

Apart from the former NXT UK champion, The Imperium group also featured Fabian Aichner and Barthel. However, Aichner was not called up when the other two made their debuts on SmackDown last month.

Gunther talked about this change during a recent interview with Cultaholic Wrestling. He admitted that he has no idea about what\’s going on with Aichner

“I literally don’t know, Obviously, for him and Ludwig, it was a little bit of a rough few days. Because they worked so hard together for so many years and stuff like that. Now everyone has to go their own way a little bit. But you’ve got to look forward and stay positive about things.\”

The former champion also noted how this is a challenge for all three of the former Imperium members. He claimed that the end goal is for them to reunite somewhere down the line:

\”It’s a new challenge for Ludwig and me. But also for Fabian, it’s going to be a new challenge with whatever he is going to do going forward. But, I guess the end goal is that it’s going to be three of us again.”

  • Sammy Guevara And Tay Conti Win AAA Mixed Tag Team Championship At TripleMania XXX

Sammy Guevara and Tay Conti have become the new AAA world mixed tag team champions at the TripleMania XXX: Monterrey event.

The two were scheduled to compete in a four-way tag team match for the titles at the show. Though at first, Sammy acted to be injured coming off of his ladder match TNT championship loss to Scorpio Sky at Dynamite this past Wednesday.

Tay Conti instead wrestled with AAA luchador La Parka Negra for most of the match. Apart from the AEW stars, the bout featured Sexy Star & Komander, Maravilla & Latigo, and Arez & Chik Tormenta. It was filled with many exciting spots.

Though later in the bout, it was confirmed that Guevara was faking his injury. He then replaced Negra in the championship match.

The ending of the bout saw Guevara super kicking Tormenta while Conti hit the Tay-KO. The duo went on to pin the champions for the victory.

The team of Tay Conti and Sammy Guevara has been receiving mixed reactions from the crowd in AEW in recent times.

The company itself also seems to be leaning towards a heel turn for them. We will have to see if they mention the actions of the couple at the AAA PPV on AEW programming in the coming week.

  • Dakota Kai Says She Is Not Done After WWE Release

Former NXT star Dakota Kai has sent out a statement after getting released from her WWE contract earlier this week.

She posted the statement on Twitter and noted how she has been overwhelmed by the love and support she has received since the news broke out:

“Above everything, thank you all. I am so overwhelmed at all the love and support. The DMs, txts, tweets.. you all have my heart. I love you. I am thankful for being able to meet, work and intertwine with so many beautiful people,\”

The former champion also mentioned that she chose to become a professional wrestler at the age of 17 and assured fans that she is \’far from being done.\’

    Dakota Kai\’s WWE release

Dakota Kai was signed by WWE back in December 2016. She spent more than 5 years in the developmental before being let go by the company.

WWE officials apparently didn\’t see her as \’main roster material\’ even after all her training. The idea is not to have talents for too long in NXT.

Though reports also suggest that Kai herself was planning on not re-signing with the promotion once her latest contract with WWE expired. She apparently saw the release coming as well.

  • Matt Riddle\’s Wife Confirms Divorce With WWE Star

Lisa Rennie, the wife of current WWE superstar Matt Riddle has announced that the couple has officially separated.

The former Olympic Weight Lifter confirmed the news on Instagram. She posted a photo with her kids and revealed that it\’s been a month since their divorce was finalized:

“It’s been exactly one month since the judge signed the paperwork and our divorce was finalized. The kids and I are enjoying our new adventure, and are grateful for everyone that’s been by our side through all of this.”

    https://www.instagram.com/p/Cc-wK75uyhR/

Lisa was first mentioned in news back in 2020 when Riddle admitted to having an affair with fellow professional wrestler Candy Cartwright. Though the WWE star denied the accusations of sexual assault made by Cartwright

The former UFC star then tweeted a photo of himself with his current tag team partner Randy Orton from a live event in October 2021. In the caption, he claimed that he was loving his life, and \’it doesn\’t get any better than this.\’

Lisa replied to this post from her then-husband. In a deleted tweet she wrote: “You would say that now that you packed up and moved to Orlando away from your children.”

Riddle is currently scheduled to team with Orton and Drew McIntyre to face The Bloodline at the upcoming WrestleMania Backlash event.

  • Brian Myers Is A Free Agent Again

Brian Myers (fka Curt Hawkins) is a free agent once again.

The former WWE star recently appeared on the Battleground podcast. During the talk, he confirmed that his contract with Impact Wrestling has expired.

The wrestling veteran noted how Matt Cardona has been wrestling on the independent circuit. He said that he is \’along for the ride\’ with the former Zack Ryder as they continue to wrestle all over the country.

Myers was released from his WWE contract back in April 2020. This was his second run with the company which lasted about 4 years.

He returned to Impact Wrestling in July after his non-compete expired. He had been a featured member of the Impact roster ever since.

Brian Myers led a faction called The Learning Tree in the promotion. The stable that lasted several months also included VSK and Zicky Dice.

He then reunited with longtime partner Matt Cardona. The duo known as The Major Players in Impact unsuccessfully challenged for the Impact tag titles at the Rebellion PPV earlier this month.

Before his release in 2020, Myers had spent the majority of his wrestling career in WWE. His first run with the organization started in 2006 and lasted till 2014.

  • Dakota Kai Was Not Seen As \’Main Roster Material\’ By WWE

The latest round of WWE cuts saw some surprising releases. It included names such as Dakota Kai, Harland, and Malcolm Bivens.

Reports after the news broke out revealed that WWE officials were not satisfied with Harland\’s progress in the ring.

Dave Meltzer of the F4Wonline provided some updates on another one of the releases. He claimed that Dakota Kai was not seen as \’main roster material\’ by the officials.

Per Meltzer, the idea is for talents to not have \’ten-year\’ careers in NXT. The female star had been with the development brand for too long so there was nothing left for her.

A lot of people disagree with this assessment of Kai. WWE officials however have a vision about women\’s wrestling and the former tag team champion didn\’t fit into it.

Many people have protested the decision online since the news came out. This includes Shayna Baslzer, who mentioned how the released star is one of the best in-ring talents out there:

Dakota Kai originally signed a contract with WWE back in December 2016. She had several dark matches on the main roster in 2021 but was sent back to NXT.

The former champion had apparently indicated to the officials that she wasn\’t interested in renewing her contract. She was already planning to leave and saw her release coming.

  • Cody Rhodes Reveals What\’s Keeping Him Sane Through The WWE Schedule

Cody Rhodes has not only agreed to come back to WWE, but he has also agreed to the full WWE schedule. This means working not only TV tapings but multiple Live Events throughout the week. Back in the day, it would mean that he hardly got to see his family except on a couple of off days. Thankfully things have changed for the better.

The former AEW star recently appeared on the After The Bell podcast. Corey Graves asked Cody what has been keeping him sane among all the press, travel, and multiple nights of wrestling every week since WrestleMania. Rhodes mentioned how the rise of bus culture means that he can now have his family around him all the time. What\’s especially kept Cody Rhodes calm is having his dog Pharaoh with him:

\”I\’ll give you an example what kept me sane this past weekend. I did the loop and just kept me calm and level-headed. You know, you do your Saturday Night\’s Main Event, your Sunday Stunner and then you get to Raw. I brought Pharaoh, my husky. He\’s 11 years old now. He\’s acting like he\’s 300 years old. But he came on the bus.

Cody Rhodes continued: \”That\’s another thing that really has [helped me], the Bus culture. I\’m getting used to this. Again, I am not gonna try and take it for granted but what a way to expand your career, physically. In terms of, \’oh my gosh it\’s all here. I can bring my family on the road with me.\’ It\’s all right in front of me. Not have to do the rental cars and flight every single day. So the bus culture, I am really getting in.\”

He discussed how the birth of his daughter Liberty has changed his perspective on things. Cody Rhodes also revealed how it has affected his temper:

\”It calmed me way down. I have a terrible temper, and it got worse when I left WWE because no one stopped me. I was a lunatic. Because I had that fear that I didn\’t speak up when I was at WWE. So now I\’ve got to overly speak up.\” said Cody Rhodes, \”So I\’m snapping on people left and right, just a nuisance to work with the first few years until I kind of calmed myself down.

But with her I\’ve calmed way down. As long as she\’s safe, happy, healthy [it\’s all fine]. [If they say] \’Hey, we\’re doing this on TV\’ [I am like] \’That sounds cool. Okay, maybe [it\’s] not my cup of tea [but] we\’ll make it work, whatever\’. But I\’ve calmed myself down. So it\’s calmed me down, calmed the house down. And it\’s gave us a specific thing, I think a goal and future. [Now] our outlook is all about her.\”

  • Major Change Announced To WrestleMania Backlash Title Unification Match

WWE has announced a big change to the WrestleMania Backlash main event. It\’s no longer a title unification match as originally announced.

Roman Reigns had defeated Brock Lesnar to become the Undisputed world champion in WWE at WrestleMania 38 earlier this month.

After this, WWE had confirmed a unification match for the tag team titles as well. They had announced that The Usos will face RK Bro at WrestleMania Backlash in a winner takes all title unification match.

This week\’s episode of SmackDown featured a contract signing for this match. However, a brawl broke out between the two teams before the match could be made official.

Roman Reigns came out to help his cousins. The Bloodline beat down the Raw tag team champions and Reigns tore up the contract. Drew McIntyre\’s music then hit and he came down to even the odds.

Paul Heyman was seen talking to Adam Pearce backstage later in the show. Heyman was trying to persuade Pearce to change the WrestleMania Backlash bout.

WWE has since confirmed that the match has indeed been altered. Now it will see RK Bro teaming with McIntyre to take on The Bloodline in a six men tag match at the upcoming Premium Live Event.

The Hardcore Legend appeared on Throwing Down w/ Renee & Miesha. He talked about things such as the 20th anniversary of Randy Orton\’s WWE debut and more.

He was also asked for his thoughts on AEW and the Owen Hart Cup Tournament. Mick Foley first joked that they shouldn\’t stop themselves from spreading any rumors about him making an appearance. So he can get a lucrative deal similar to Bret Hart.

He then said that the idea of honoring Owen Hart is beautiful:

\”Look, I\’ll be honest Renee, I don\’t watch [AEW] as much as I used to. I catch it when I can. I turn it on. I like what AEW is doing. I love the idea of honoring Owen Hart.

It\’s way overdue and I know that it means a lot to people, like those guys [FTR]. The Owen Hart tournament. It\’s a beautiful thing.\” said Mick Foley, \”I think that they should do it every week. This whole forbidden door concept where partners get to wrestle partners. It\’s pretty cool.\”

The match Mick talked about will be taking place on Dynamite this Wednesday. It will see FTR\’s Cash Wheeler going up against his partner Dax Harwood in a qualifying bout for the Owen Hart Cup tournament.

  • Cody Rhodes Reacts To Randy Orton Reunion On Raw

WWE celebrated 20 years of Randy Orton\’s debut on this week\’s episode of Raw. The show also saw a reunion between him and Cody Rhodes.

The two former Legacy members reunited during the opening segment of the episode. Riddle introduced the American Nightmare before they were interrupted by Seth Rollins.

\”Randy Orton took me under his wing; perhaps begrudgingly or not, but he did it sincerely. Up in the stands earlier in the day, in the car, in the locker room, on the apron…constantly delivering wisdom and functional advice, and it came from a place of experience and wasn’t just rhetoric.

His passion for our sport is aggressive. Loud and proud. Did it his way and in the process entertained millions. Thank you.\”

  • Ronda Rousey: \’I Don\’t Really Need To Know What People Think About My Work\’

Ronda Rousey has expressed some controversial opinions about fans in the past. The hate she has received online has caused her to be resentful toward the audience. Though it appears that she has learned her lesson. Ronda now only cares about the reaction she receives from the live audience.

The former Raw women\’s champion was a guest on Wives Of Wrestling podcast. She was asked how she goes about receiving feedback on her work. Replying to it, Ronda explained why she doesn\’t really need to know what people think:

\”I don\’t really need to know what people think about my work. It\’s kind of like if you go to an art gallery and there\’s like the artists there like, \’I threw this pain at this fucking thing.\’ They don\’t want to stand there and explain to them what their paint splat means.\” said Ronda Rousey, \”They don\’t care what other people think of their paint splat.

They were feeling a thing and splatter their paint. It\’s there for you to make of it what you will. I don\’t think really how it\’s perceived matters too much. I guess the feedback I get is like a live audience. There\’s a lot of times when what you think is coming online and what the live audience is expressing are two opposite things.\”

Ronda Rousey: \’The Internet Is Not A Good Sample\’

Ronda Rousey then gave the example of her Royal Rumble return earlier this year. She mentioned how the online reaction led her to believe that she would be booed upon her comeback. This made the former UFC star realize that the online world is not a good sample of what people think about her:

\”Case in point Royal Rumble, I left as a heel, and was getting booed out of every stadium. I was like, \’okay.\’ That\’s what I assumed everyone thought. I was still a heel and any interviews I gave in anytime I was talking shit of the fans being in character for in case I come back. That\’s what I assumed I would come back to. When it ended up being not that reaction. I was really, really surprised.

I was almost too guarded to let them make me happy in that moment. You know what I mean? But I don\’t know if I would have thought otherwise by looking at comments or anything else. So whatever the live audience is leaving you with is what I\’m assuming what people feel like in general because the internet is not a good sample.\”

  • Randy Orton On His WWE Future: \’Roman Reigns Will Be In Hollywood, I\’ll Still Be Here\’

Many stars of Randy Orton\’s generation have branched out of WWE. People such as Batista and John Cena have decided to pursue an acting career and have found success in Hollywood. However, the Viper has been clear about not having any such ambitions.

According to him, he will continue being a WWE star even after Roman Reigns has followed the footsteps of others and left the company.

Orton talked about his legacy in pro wrestling during a recent interview with Metro. He claimed that after The Undertaker, he will be the next guy who will be remembered to never go anywhere else:

\”A lot of people ask me what my legacy’ll be. I think, if you’re talking WWE more specifically, my legacy will be that I was the next guy – after The Undertaker – that was the only person that never went anywhere else, and had more matches, more titles, more accolades,\”

Randy Orton also used the opportunity to take a shot at the current Undisputed World Champion Roman Reigns. He said that he will still be in WWE long after Reigns has left:

  • Tyson Kidd Reveals How He Started Producing Women\’s Matches

There have been two women\’s main events in the history of WrestleMania and both have been produced by Tyson Kidd. The retired wrestler has become synonymous with women\’s wrestling within WWE in recent years. A lot of female performers have credited him for many great ideas.

During his interview with Dropkick podcast, the WWE star revealed how he originally started working on women\’s matches. He recalled that Carmella was the first woman to start requesting him as a producer after they worked on a match together:

\”Carmella [is] someone who\’s really understood my formula. I texted her this at one point during the pandemic. I hadn\’t seen her for a little bit. I sent her a text and I was like, \’hey, just so you know, I have never forgotten.\’ She was the first girl that started requesting me to work with her. On Raw [at] one point I kept working with Seth and then on SmackDown I would do random things, and one time I had a woman\’s match. I had Carmella and somebody and then Carmella started [requesting me].\”

    \’I Don\’t Picture Myself Doing Anything Else\’

Tyson Kidd then explained how things evolved from there. Other women slowly started making the same requests. According to the former tag team champion, now he can\’t imagine himself doing anything else:

\”She was first one to start requesting me. Then one time in Tampa, it was Becky [Lynch] versus Carmella. I have known Becky since like 2005. Becky\’s another very special [performer]. So then, Carmella and Becky had a match. Then Becky was like \’Wait. Where do you come up with this stuff?\’ I was [like] \’I don\’t know.\’ But yeah, I\’ve never forgotten that Carmela was the catalyst of [it]. Now, I don\’t picture myself doing anything else but working with these women. So, thanks Carmella.\”

\”I tell them ‘Have a Plan B, because statistically you will not make a living at this.\’ A lot of people would say if you have a Plan B, that means you can\’t give all to Plan A. So you\’re gonna fail at Plan A anyway, that\’s not true.\” said Hangman Page,

\”I was a high school teacher. I did this and I\’m the f***ing World Champion. At one time, I was a high school teacher. To make it through this, I had a plan B, and I don\’t need it anymore.

Have a Plan B, because life is much more important than what career you want to follow or what you want people to say about your accomplishments. Life is much more important than that. You will need to make money to survive.

So, always have a plan B. I feel like people don\’t press that upon people enough in telling you to chase your dreams. You absolutely should. But you have to reckon with the fact that you probably, statistically will not make much money at this, if any. You have to know that and you have to be okay with that.\”
