  • Will Ospreay On Who He Would Like To Face At Forbidden Door

Will Ospreay is guaranteed to be featured in a big match at the upcoming AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door PPV. If it\’s left up to him, he would like to face someone who is an AEW original at the show.

The former IWGP Heavyweight champion recently spoke to Wresthings podcast. He mentioned how Bryan Danielson and CM Punk are \’obvious\’ opponents for him.

Though discussing what kind of opponent he would like to face, Ospreay said that he would like to compete against a homegrown AEW star on the show:

“I would like a challenge and what I mean by that is I would like a homemade guy, like someone that didn’t come from NXT, that didn’t come from New Japan,

Because I think that’s the challenge.\” said Will Ospreay, \”Can I do like a sick match with someone that was born and made in AEW? … Jungle Boy, I’d love to tear it up with him.”

The NJPW star praised AEW for its product saying that it makes him excited to be a wrestling fan. He then reiterated how he would love to face a \’grassroots\’ AEW name at the PPV event.

  • Thunder Rosa On How Long She Plans To Continue Wrestling

35-year-old Thunder Rosa is an inspiration for anyone who hasn\’t found their path early in their life. The AEW star made her wrestling debut at the age of 28 back in 2014. Since then, she has not only forged a career path for herself but Rosa has gone on to become the women\’s champion in the second-largest pro wrestling promotion of the world.

The current AEW women\’s world champion recently spoke to Forbes. She talked about things such as her singing career and more.

When asked about her retirement plans, Rosa said that she will be competing for as long as possible. Though the former Lucha Underground star then explained why she doesn\’t want to be wrestling after 45:

“I’m going to wrestle as long as possible, but I don’t think I want to be wrestling after I’m 45. I know some of my peers at that age and they’re still wrestling. I personally don’t want to because it’s very taxing on your body.\”

Thunder Rosa went on to describe how she can wrestle at her level and caliber for only so long, before her age starts catching up to her:

“I can wrestle to the caliber, to the level that I’ve been wrestling at, for another three to four years… But I also have to scale back and take care of my body.”

  • Road Dogg On How Higher Ups Viewed NXT During Triple H\’s Time

A lot of fans were upset with WWE getting rid of Triple H\’s NXT team and revamping the brand. Many believed that it killed the show\’s unique identity that The Game had worked hard to build. Though according to Brian \’Road Dogg\’ James, the top brass never really saw it as the third brand. For them, NXT was always the developmental.

The former SmackDown head writer recently spoke to WrestleZone. He talked about WWE releasing talents such as Dexter Lumis. James explained that while Lumis was very talented, he didn\’t fit into the plans because of his age. WWE\’s focus now is on developing younger talents:

\”Right now, what they\’re trying to do is get as many young talent up and running as they possibly can, because then you\’re gonna see a few of those thoroughbreds stick out, and you\’re gonna go \’Okay, so there\’s so and so. We\’re gonna sent her to SmackDown. We\’re gonna send him to Raw.\’

Road Dogg continued, \”Because that\’s what NXT was originally. It became because of the TV rights deal, a third brand. But it was never really intended to be a third brand. It was never thought about, from a business standpoint, as a third brand. It was kind of always thought of, really high up, as developmental. I think it got away from its roots a little bit. I think Vince came down there and said \’we\’re going to do things a little differently now.\’ I think he saw an opportunity to do that and he took it. I think that\’s how he\’s wanted it to be run so that\’s how it\’s being run now.\”

  • How Much Killer Kross And Scarlett Bordeaux Are Making Now Compared To WWE

Bordeaux recently had an interview with WrestlingInc. Among other things, she discussed their finances and said that they are making the same amount of money as they were making on the main roster:

“Financially, I will just say it — we are making the same as a WWE main roster salary.”

    – Scarlett Bordeaux

Scarlett Bordeaux continued by mentioning how they are much busier now than they were before. It\’s because they have multiple ventures and have to make all their business decisions by themselves as well:

“We are actually busier now than we were before, 100 percent. We are answering more emails, dealing with contracts, dealing with contracts with television shows, movies.

With his Twitch, with my OnlyFans, we are nonstop busy and hustling. But we have 100 percent creative freedom and no rules whatsoever to what we are doing.”

Both Killer Kross and Scarlett Bordeaux joined WWE in February 2020. They went on to have a successful NXT career with Kross winning the title twice during his stay.

Though the pair were broken up when they were called up to the main roster. After being in the creative limbo for months, both the stars were released in November last year.

  • Anthony Bowens Confirms Knee Surgery

AEW star and one-half of the Acclaimed tag team Anthony Bowens has revealed that he has undergone a knee surgery.

The 31-year-old had made a cryptic post earlier this week saying that he wanted to be on Dynamite but the opportunity was taken away from him.

In an apparent update to the story, Bowens took on his Twitter to share the news of the surgery with fans on Friday. He claimed that he had to get the operation because of an attack after Elevation on Monday:

\”Without getting into too much detail..bc of the attack after Elevation on Monday, I had to undergo a procedure this week to fix my knee. Story of my life..1 step forward, 2 steps back.\” wrote Anthony Bowens.

The Acclaimed had teamed up with The Gunn Club to compete in an 8 men tag team match during this week\’s Dark: Elevation episode. They defeated Bryce Donovan, GKM, Lucas Chase & Zack Clayton.

Footage shown on Friday\’s Rampage saw Anthony Bowens getting attacked after the match. Though the culprit behind the attack was not revealed.

  • Becky Lynch Reportedly Pitched Raw Main Event

Sasha Banks and Naomi walking out of Raw put WWE in a strange position in regards to the already announced Raw main event. This is where Becky Lynch came to the rescue and pitched the alternative match to close the show.

WWE had originally planned a six-pack challenge to determine the new #1 contender for the Raw women\’s champion Bianca Belair for this week\’s episode of Raw.

However, the company was put in an awkward position because Sasha Banks and Naomi who were supposed to compete in the match walked out of the show.

Vince McMahon was informed about it after the show had already gone on air and they had announced the main event. This is when Becky Lynch suggested the alternative idea.

Per Wrestling Observer Newsletter, The Man suggested a one-on-one #1 contenders match instead and offered to put over Asuka in the main event of the show.

This worked because WWE is trying to save a rematch between Lynch and Belair for a major PPV. So she couldn\’t win the championship contender match.

The match saw Becky trying to use Asuka\’s umbrella as a foreign object. However, the Japanese star blew green mist in her eyes and pinned her for the win.

Asuka will now challenge Bianca Belair for the Raw women\’s championship at the Hell In A Cell PPV. The show will take place from Allstate Arena in Chicago on June 6.

  • Toni Storm On Competing In The Owen Hart Cup Tournament

One of the biggest reasons wrestlers prefer AEW over other companies is the creative control. The promotion allows its talent a lot of freedom in what they do and say. Many of the stars have said that this freedom has helped them reignite the creative spark and passion for the business. It appears Toni Storm is one such name.

The former WWE star recently appeared on AEW Unrestricted podcast. Among other things, she discussed being part of the Owens Hart Cup tournament. Storm claimed that she was nervous competing in the first round of the tournament:

\”Yeah it\’s incredible being part of.\” said Toni Storm, \”To be [in] first round me and Jamie Hayter. I was definitely feeling the pressure. Like setting the standard. [It was like] \’We really gotta have a good match here because it sets the tone for the tournament going forward.\’ But I had a great time winning. I feel like every match that I\’m having here so far is just kind of reigniting that passion more and more. More than I thought possible.\”

Toni Storm made her AEW debut during the March 30 episode of Dynamite. She defeated The Bunny to qualify for the Owens Hart Cup tournament. She went on to defeat Jamie Hayter in the first round of the competition. Storm is now scheduled to face Dr. Brit Baker in the semi-finals of the tournament.

The AEW star did not provide any more details on his absence. So it\’s hard to say if it\’s some kind of injury that has been affecting him or if the lack of creative direction is the reason for his absence from this week\’s show.

The People\’s champion shared a post on Instagram. He mentioned how he has built a relationship with Disney over the years.

Vince McMahon tried to revive the league back in 2020. However, after only five weeks of play in its inaugural season, it had to be halted again due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

In August that year, Dwyane \’The Rock\’ Johnson, alongside some other business partners purchased the XFL for $15 million. XFL is currently planning to make a return in 2023 and this deal with Disney is a positive step in that direction.

  • Details On Events Leading To Sasha Banks And Naomi Walking Out Of Raw

Many people questioned the reports suggesting that Sasha Banks and Naomi walked out of Raw because the latter was supposed to win the six-pack challenge main event at the show. PWinsider has provided some more updates and shed some light on how things unfolded on Monday before the Raw episode.

Per the site, the original plans were for Naomi to beat Sasha Banks to win the main event. This confrontation would have been built with multiple segments throughout the show. The Raw episode then would have gone off air with the duo celebrating Naomi becoming the #1 contender for the Raw women\’s championship.

There are some who believe that Banks was also going to get a shot at the SmackDown women\’s title. A segment on Friday\’s SmackDown would have set a match between her and Ronda Rousey, presumably for Hell In A Cell. Though both the tag team partners were expected to lose their respective title matches. This would effectively mean that the women\’s tag team champions would have been used to put over the champions of Raw and SmackDown.

An alternative idea for a women\’s championship feud was pitched after some concerns were raised over the original plans. The idea was for the tag team champions to have a short match and then get attacked to set up a championship feud with Doudrop and Nikki A.S.H. However, Sasha Banks and Naomi were informed by WWE producer Molly Holly not long before the show went on air that the officials had decided to go in the direction of the six-pack challenge instead.

When Mr McMahon Found Out About Sasha Banks and Naomi

Shortly after learning about this change, Banks and Naomi walked into the office of John Laurinaitis. They informed him of their decision to leave and left the championship belts behind. Vince McMahon was informed of the events right after Raw went on air.

The Becky Lynch – Adam Pearce segment that took place during the show was then pitched on the spot. One source has credited Lynch for the idea. Mr McMahon ordered for the segment to be shot and placed on the show to explain the change in the main event which had already been announced by that point.

The belief among some is that the creative issues weren\’t about the finish of the show but how the duo would have been portrayed over the coming weeks, leading to the upcoming PPV. Nobody knew what would happen to their team after the show. This was especially problematic because Mr McMahon himself had ordered Banks and Naomi to team up for WrestleMania 38 and they worked hard to build their team.

Sasha Banks has since unfollowed Vince McMahon and other WWE accounts on Twitter. Meanwhile, report suggest that the locker room is not sympathetic towards the boss for her actions on Monday. How this story will evolve is anyone\’s guess. We will keep you updated on any further development.

The late wrestling star passed away in a tragic manner back on May 17, 2020. He was visiting the Venice beach with his family when Shad and his son got caught in a strong rip current.

  • Dustin Rhodes On If Goldust Would Work In Today\’s Wrestling

WWE in the attitude era was filled with many unexpected storylines and characters. One such unique character was Goldust which caused a lot of controversies but brought in ratings as well. Though the man behind the gold paint himself, Dustin Rhodes believes that a character like that would not work in the current times.

The AEW star recently talked to Renee Paquette on The Sessions podcast. When Renee asked if a character like Goldust would work today, Rhodes explained why it wouldn\’t:

\”It absolutely would not work. The way Goldust was portrayed back in the 90s. He was very androgynous. We would never say the word gay. I don\’t think he will work because those things back then were way, way ahead of its time.\” said Dustin Rhodes,

He continued, \”They got lots of letters saying that they weren\’t gonna let their kids watch this shit anymore. Moms were upset. But the ratings kept getting bigger and better. So we were doing something right. But it was just very pushing the envelope as far as you could possibly do it. Stepping over that line. Today trying to do something like that? No.\”

Apart from this, Dustin Rhodes also talked about his Double or Nothing 2019 match with Cody Rhodes. He vowed to never wrestle his brother again.

Riddle couldn\’t have asked for a better mentor to take his WWE career to next level than Randy Orton. The Apex Predator has gone through many of the phases the former UFC star went through early in his WWE journey. Randy also got into trouble and upset many veterans early on before growing up and earning the respect of his peers. \”And of course, in ring ability, just watching Randy every night do what Randy does best, you are gonna get better. Your timing is gonna get better, your confidence is gonna go up. Your swagger goes up on the microphone, everything goes up.

From day one to day now, at least from my point of view it\’s night and day. The transition and changes I have made. And I would say maybe, from outside looking in, it\’s harder to see. Behind The Scene Issues At UpUpDownDown

The gaming channel became inactive in November last year, after the creators stopped working in a show of solidarity with Woods.

The people who worked on the channel believed that the New Day member was being taken advantage of. They wanted WWE to give him a better deal.

The channel had mostly been inactive since then. The only content posted on UpUpDownDown in recent months was related to WWE 2K22.

This latest video from Woods suggests that he may have gotten a new deal too, that will help him be paid more fairly for his work on the channel.

  • Jeff Jarrett Escorted Out Of AAA Show Due To Threat From Crowd

WWE Hall Of Famer Jeff Jarrett alongside his wife Karen Jarrett apparently had to be escorted out of this past weekend\’s AAA TripleMania event from Monterrey, Mexico.

The PPV event featured a segment where AAA owner Dorian Roldan came out to present a plaque to Monterrey native Latin Lover.

Lover was interrupted by Jarrett, his wife, and Rey Escorpion when he tried to cut a promo. Jeff teased the crowd and even got into the face of Marisela Peña who was seated at ringside.

The WWE Hall Of Famer went on to insult the fans. When Latin Lover took off his jacket, the wrestling veteran called him a “dirty, filthy, grimy Mexican”

Escorpion then took down Lover before Vampiro made his return. Vampiro cleaned the house after a brawl and stood tall as the heels retreated.

Officials from the promotion apparently confiscated tortillas Jarrett planned to throw in the crowd. He was then provided additional security at his hotel due to overzealous fans.

There is no word yet on if Jarrett will be back in AAA anytime soon. Though after his latest promo work it\’s likely that they will keep him away from shows for at least a while.
