Jack Perry Negotiating New AEW Contract

Jack Perry’s AEW future is back in focus. According to Bryan Alvarez of the Wrestling Observer, the former AEW National Champion’s contract is up and he is currently in negotiations with the promotion over a new deal.

Alvarez reported the update on Saturday, framing it plainly: Perry’s deal has expired and talks are ongoing. The report does not specify how close the two sides are to an agreement or whether Perry has fielded interest elsewhere.

The news lands roughly a month after a wave of online speculation about Perry’s status, which Fightful had tamped down at the time. People in AEW told the outlet in May that they had not heard anything about Perry’s deal coming up until the rumor surfaced online. Alvarez’s report shifts that picture, indicating the contract situation is now genuinely active.

How Perry Got Here

The speculation traces back to early May. Perry lost the AEW National Championship to Mark Davis of the Don Callis Family on the May 9 Collision: Fairway to Hell special in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida. Don Callis distracted the referee and Ricochet cracked Perry with a golf club, setting up the Davis pin and ending Perry’s reign at 55 days.

He had won the title by taking the 21-man Blackjack Battle Royal at Revolution Zero Hour on March 15. After dropping it, Perry returned to action on the May 27 episode of Dynamite, where Davis beat him again in an Owen Hart Foundation Tournament bout.

One of AEW’s original 2019 signings, Perry spent his early run teaming with Luchasaurus as the fan-favorite Jurassic Express before turning heel in 2023 and winning the FTW Championship. His backstage altercation with CM Punk at All In that year preceded Punk’s AEW exit and led to Perry being suspended indefinitely.

Perry came back in 2024 alongside a reformed version of The Elite, later dropped the TNT Championship, and disappeared from programming for months before resurfacing in the fall of 2025 to reunite with Luchasaurus.
