Jack Perry has re-signed with AEW, with a vignette airing on the July 8 episode of Dynamite: Beach Break confirming the deal. On the WWE side, there was little to no interest in pursuing Perry had he entered free agency, with sources telling WrestleVotes on Fightful Select that he was never viewed as a realistic target.
The prevailing feeling within WWE was that Perry did not fit the company’s current landscape, and there was never much appetite to bring him in. Discussions about the possibility of signing him were minimal at best.
Perry’s history with CM Punk added an obvious layer of complexity to any hypothetical WWE interest. The two were involved in a physical altercation backstage at AEW All In London in 2023, and AEW subsequently aired footage of the incident on Dynamite. Punk is now the Undisputed WWE Champion following his return at the July 6 Raw in Chicago, making any Perry-WWE scenario even more unlikely.
Perry, 29, is the son of the late actor Luke Perry and has been with AEW since the company’s launch. He has held the AEW TNT Championship and AEW World Tag Team Championship. His re-signing ends several weeks of uncertainty about his future, following reports that he had yet to put pen to paper on a new deal.
