Jeff Jarrett has explained why Monty Brown never captured the TNA World Championship despite being one of the promotion’s most over babyfaces during its early years: his booking philosophy required multiple credible heel challengers to be in place before a babyface title reign could succeed.
Jarrett answered the question during a Reddit Q&A.
“I did not feel that it was in his best interest to win the title because my booking philosophy for a babyface champion to succeed is that you need multiple heel challengers to go through in order to establish a meaningful babyface reign.”
Brown competed in TNA from 2004 to 2006 and was one of the company’s most popular performers during that stretch. Fans widely viewed him as a future world champion, yet he departed before reaching the top position to pursue an unsuccessful run for political office in Michigan in 2006.
