Baron Corbin is back.
Tonight’s episode of SmackDown saw US Champion Trick Williams, accompanied by Lil Yachty, introduce a new special legacy fur edition of the title belt.
Williams went on to face Carmelo Hayes in a non-title match. Many had expected Melo to pick up the victory in order to set up a SummerSlam championship match against the fellow NXT alumni, but a returning Baron Corbin ruined those plans.
The WWE veteran took out both the young stars before the match could conclude. He hit the End of Days finisher on both before posing with the special edition belt and then walking out.
Fans had speculated that Corbin would be revealed as the partner for Danhausen in his storyline against Judgment Day, but the latest development means the Lone Wolf will be entering the US title picture instead. What this means for the future of Williams and, more importantly, Hayes remains to be seen.
Tonight’s show also featured CM Punk’s first appearance as the Undisputed WWE Champion and Nick Aldis made his first title defence official during the night. You can check out more about it here.
