Former WWE Star Addresses Rumors About Imminent Return

Former WWE star Baron Corbin recently responded to speculation regarding a potential WWE return, taking to social media to mock reports claiming he had wrapped up commitments with outside promotions.

It was recently reported that Corbin could be heading back to WWE after allegedly finishing obligations with promotions he had been working for since his 2024 departure.

Fightful reported that Corbin had completed commitments with several companies, including Major League Wrestling where he teamed with Donovan Dijak as The Skyscrapers.

Taking to X, the former WWE star used sarcasm to address the rumors while revealing he still has multiple bookings scheduled. He suggested someone else must be controlling his schedule without his knowledge.

“I accepted 8 shows in Europe. My eye is still swollen from Australia. I also didn’t know i was done with some of these companies. Who ever is making my schedule needs to let me know this sh*t. I thought it was me but apparently it’s not.”

The response neither confirmed nor denied the WWE speculation, instead poking fun at how quickly reports about his future spread throughout wrestling media.

Corbin parted ways with WWE in November 2024 after more than a decade with the promotion, during which he worked under several personas including King Corbin and Happy Corbin.

Despite Corbin’s sarcastic response, the belief within wrestling circles appears to be that a WWE return remains possible in the near future, though nothing has been officially confirmed by either party.

Baron Corbin appears to be on the verge of a WWE return, with industry sources telling Fightful Select that he is either already signed or will be imminently.

Fightful Select has learned that Corbin has finished up his obligations with companies he had been working with regularly, including MLW, where he had been teaming with Donovan Dijak as the Skyscrapers. Those spoken to within the industry believe a WWE deal is essentially done.

Dave Meltzer first reported last weekend that he had heard of the possibility of Corbin returning to WWE. Fightful Select subsequently reported that the return had been internally discussed and rumored within the company in recent weeks.

Corbin, who also worked under the name Bishop Dyer following his WWE departure, spent years on the main roster as a multi-time Intercontinental and United States Champion before his release. No official announcement has been made.

Reports suggest that former WWE star Baron Corbin has been heavily discussed for a potential return to the company.

The former United States Champion was released by WWE on November 4, 2024, as part of a round of talent cuts. Since his departure, Corbin has been active on the independent wrestling scene under the ring name Bishop Dyer, using the nickname “The Nomad.”

His post-WWE run has included multiple independent dates, though he has not captured any major televised promotion championship during this period.

Dave Meltzer reported on the latest Wrestling Observer Radio that the talks have been “heavily” ongoing.

“Probably back in WWE. I’ve not heard it’s a done deal, but I know it’s been talked about, yes.”

“On the SmackDown show, when Danhausen was talking about something bigger, my gut was that that’s who it is. That’s just my speculation, but I just know that he’s been talked with about being brought in.”

He then highlighted his reading of the situation specifically and that it’s not a done deal.

“It might even be done, but I haven’t had it officially confirmed to me it’s done. But I have 100% confirmed that it’s been heavily talked about.”

    WWE Tenure and Accomplishments

During his time with WWE, Corbin achieved notable success as a former United States Champion, King of the Ring winner in 2019, and Money in the Bank winner in 2017 and the 2016 Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal. His release in November came as part of broader company restructuring.
