  • Dolph Ziggler Returns On WWE Raw

WWE Superstars can sometimes make returns to the company in shocking fashion, and this week’s episode of RAW at Madison Square Garden provided a great opportunity for a former World Champion to surprise fans.

WWE considers Madison Square Garden its home, and the November 17 episode of RAW included one former Superstar coming home. Dolph Ziggler, who has been competing as Nic Nemeth since his WWE release, returned to his former moniker tonight.

Dolph Ziggler was revealed as the mystery opponent for Solo Sikoa in the \”Last Time Is Now\” tournament. Sikoa did not know who he was facing, and his reaction was shown in real-time. The return brought a great pop from the Madison Square Garden crowd. Ziggler ultimately lost the match, putting over Sikoa to advance in the tournament.

It is currently unclear if this return means Ziggler will be back with WWE for the long haul. WWE released the former World Champion in September 2023. Since then, he has taken to the indies and has been a top star in TNA Wrestling, where he is a former TNA World Champion. He has made appearances on NXT television as part of the working relationship between WWE and TNA, but this return to the main roster was a big deal for the MSG crowd.

This is the second former WWE Superstar to return for the tournament. On last week\’s SmackDown, Zack Ryder (Matt Cardona) returned to face LA Knight. Since that appearance, Ryder\’s merchandise on WWE Shop has become a top seller. Only time will tell if fans will now buy up classic Ziggler gear.

  • Liv Morgan-WWE Rumor Killer

Despite a wave of rumors swirling ahead of Monday Night Raw at Madison Square Garden, Liv Morgan is not in the building and will not be appearing on the show.

Speculation leading up to tonight’s broadcast suggested Morgan might be one of several big names backstage, alongside Roman Reigns, Brock Lesnar, and AJ Lee. The buzz centered on a possible surprise return, especially with the show airing from the iconic New York City venue. However, those hopes were shut down before the show went live.

According to a report from PWInsider, a source confirmed that Liv Morgan is not backstage at RAW and is not scheduled to appear during the show. This means her long-awaited return to WWE television will have to wait.

Morgan has been absent from WWE programming since June 16, when she suffered a shoulder injury during an episode of RAW. She underwent surgery shortly after the injury occurred. WWE never offered a public return timeline, so her comeback window has remained wide open.

While AJ Lee and Roman Reigns were also linked to potential appearances tonight, Morgan’s absence stands out, especially given how long she’s been off TV and the online chatter that suggested she might finally resurface. Fans hoping for her return will have to keep waiting.

  • John Cena Match Set For WWE Survivor Series

John Cena made his final appearance on Monday Night Raw at the historic Madison Square Garden, but he was quickly confronted by the man he beat for the Intercontinental Championship.

The November 17 episode of Raw kicked off with the new Intercontinental Champion, John Cena, who was fresh off becoming a Grand Slam Champion by defeating Dominik Mysterio last week. After receiving a grand ovation from the New York City crowd, Cena announced, \”the champ is here.\”

Cena didn’t get to speak for long before \”Dirty\” Dom\’s music hit. Mysterio, carrying his AAA Mega Championship, interrupted the farewell. He was still upset about losing the Intercontinental Title and claimed Cena was \”handed a title shot last week, just like he’s been handed everything else.\”

Mysterio demanded a rematch for the title, and Cena seemed ready to fight on his last night on Raw. Cena said he was \”down to wrestle\” and asked the MSG crowd if they wanted to see the match. After the fans cheered, Cena told Mysterio, \”if you’re feeling froggy, jump.\”

Dom then swerved the champion and the crowd by saying, \”no.\” Mysterio declared he didn\’t want to fight Cena with a \”hometown advantage\” and instead challenged him for a match at Survivor Series in his \”backyard\” of San Diego. The crowd began to loudly chant \”shut the f*ck up,\” which Cena humorously translated as \”choco fun cup.\”

Cena accepted the challenge, simply stating, \”no problem.\” The Intercontinental Championship match is now official for WWE Survivor Series. The event is scheduled to take place on Saturday, November 29, 2025, at Petco Park in San Diego, California.

  • Solo Sikoa\’s Mystery Opponent Revealed Ahead Of WWE Raw

The \”Last Time Is Now\” tournament is set to continue on tonight\’s episode of Monday Night Raw from Madison Square Garden, and the identity of Solo Sikoa\’s mystery opponent has reportedly been revealed. According to a new report from Fightful Select, the name planned for the surprise spot is former WWE star Dolph Ziggler (now wrestling as Nic Nemeth).

The report claims that WWE sources confirmed materials were produced internally for a match between Dolph Ziggler and Solo Sikoa for tonight\’s show. This potential surprise follows a similar one on last Friday\’s SmackDown, where Zack Ryder (Matt Cardona) made his return as the mystery opponent for LA Knight.

This would mark a significant return for Ziggler, who was released from his WWE contract in September 2023 after a 19-year run with the company. Since his departure, the multi-time World Heavyweight and Intercontinental Champion has been a top star on the independent circuit and in TNA, where he captured the TNA World Championship.

The report does caution that while Nemeth was the internally planned opponent as of Monday afternoon, \”there\’s always a chance things could change\” before the show goes on the air. Check out the lineup for the show here.

  • Dominik Mysterio Praised As \’Next John Cena\’ Candidate By Former WWE Star

As John Cena’s WWE farewell tour enters its final month, the conversation has turned to who, if anyone, can take his place as the face of the company. Cena is set for his final match on December 13 at Saturday Night’s Main Event, where he will face the winner of the ongoing \”Last Time Is Now\” tournament.

A former WWE star and one-time tag team partner of Cena, David Otunga, weighed in on the topic during an interview with All Axxess Entertainment. Otunga, who briefly held the WWE World Tag Team Championship with Cena in 2010, was asked who he sees as the potential ‘next John Cena’ on the current roster.

Otunga began by explaining that he does not believe a direct replacement for Cena is possible due to the evolution of the wrestling business.

“I don’t think there’s ever gonna be another John Cena. I just don’t think that’s gonna happen. I think the wrestling business has changed, and I don’t know if there’s ever gonna be one main person again,” Otunga said. “You never know if it’s just one person, but I feel like there’s gonna be multiple people, and that’s just the way it’s heading. That’s how I feel.”

Despite believing it will take \”multiple people\” to fill the void, Otunga did name two current stars who he sees as having that top-level potential. “But I feel like Dominik Mysterio, he’s a good one. Bron Breakker too I could see.”

Otunga then focused on Mysterio, recalling his journey from a kid backstage to a top heel in the company. “I remember when (Dominik) started. I remember him coming backstage and he was doing the dark matches and stuff, which was cool. I remember telling him that, because I worked with Rey. And seeing Dom all these years and then now. That’s my co-worker’s kid – that was really cool. And then seeing just how quickly he’s flown up the card, and well deserved too. I’m extremely proud of him.”

The ocean is calling, again. Disney has released the first teaser trailer for its live-action adaptation of the Oscar-nominated animated film, Moana. The new film will arrive exclusively in U.S. theaters on July 10, 2026.

The upcoming film will star newcomer Catherine Laga?aia in the title role of Moana. She will be joined by Dwayne \”The Rock\” Johnson, who is reprising his iconic role as the infamous demigod Maui.

According to the official synopsis, the film follows Moana as she \”answers the Ocean’s call and, for the first time, voyages beyond the reef of her island of Motunui with the infamous demigod Maui on an unforgettable journey to restore prosperity to her people\”.

The film is directed by Emmy and Tony Award winner Thomas Kail (known for \”Hamilton\”). The production team is led by producers Dwayne Johnson, Dany Garcia, Beau Flynn, Hiram Garcia, and Lin-Manuel Miranda.

In a key role behind the scenes, Auli?i Cravalho, who voiced Moana in the beloved animated films Moana and Moana 2, will serve as an executive producer for the live-action adaptation, alongside Thomas Kail, Scott Sheldon, and Charles Newirth.

  • Ric Flair Explains Absence From AEW Blood & Guts Broadcast

Ric Flair was advertised to appear at the AEW Dynamite: Blood & Guts special in Greensboro, NC, on November 12, but fans watching the broadcast were left wondering where he was. While his legendary rival Ricky \”The Dragon\” Steamboat appeared on the show for a segment with FTR and Stokely Hathaway, Flair\’s appearance was limited to an off-air segment for the live crowd before Dynamite began.

\”The Nature Boy\” has since taken to social media to explain his absence, revealing he is \”nursing a rotator cuff injury\” which forced him to leave the show early.

In his post, Flair apologized to the fans and AEW President Tony Khan for his early departure:

“I Want To Apologize To Everyone For Having To Leave The @AEW Show Early Last Wednesday Due To My Rotator Cuff Injury. I Appreciate @TonyKhan Giving Me The Opportunity To Be On The Show. It Was Nice Catching Up With All The Great Talent And Ricky Steamboat. I Look Forward To Being Invited Again. After I Have My Shoulder Healed Up, I Will Be Back Up & Running. I Just Want You All To Know That I Would Never Disappoint You Intentionally.”

  • LA Knight: \’I Am The Gatekeeper To John Cena\’s Last Match\’

LA Knight is making his intentions clear: he wants to be John Cena\’s final opponent.

On the November 14th edition of WWE Friday Night SmackDown, Knight faced off with a returning Zack Ryder, also known as Matt Cardona, in the \”Last Time Is Now\” tournament. Knight captured the victory, moving on to the next stage of the tournament to determine Cena\’s last opponent.

While speaking in a new backstage promo after Friday’s SmackDown, LA Knight declared himself the ‘gatekeeper to John Cena’s last match’ and addressed Cena directly.

“Johnny, Johnny C, I’m looking your way! The only difference is you can’t see me. Chances are you might see me, and you might think to yourself, ‘well, LA Knight, things haven’t quite gone your way lately’, and you’d be right. Man, you’d be damn right. Here I stand, starting in that first round. Last Time Is Now tournament. I’ll go ahead and pass through. Go ahead and pass through. Don’t worry, everybody’s gonna pass through. If they pass through, they’re gonna have to pass through me. Cause I’m the man, I am the gatekeeper to John Cena. I am the gatekeeper to John Cena’s last match.”

Knight then explained exactly why he is so focused on being the one to end Cena\’s career, noting what a victory over the \”Greatest of All Time\” would mean for his own legacy.

“Now, look, you think to yourself, ‘well, why do you care about being John Cena’s last match?’ I told you last week. John Cena is the greatest of all time, and I beat John Cena, what does that make me? I don’t know if that makes me the greatest of all time, but my God, if that doesn’t make me, what does? If that doesn’t make me the is-ness of this business, which is exactly what I am, because this is my game, it can be nobody else’s, and that’s not an insult, that is just a fact of life with everybody saying, L.A. Knight. Yeah!”

  • Maven Admits He \’Never Did\’ Put In Effort To Improve In WWE

Maven recently discussed the reason why WWE released him back in 2005. Speaking on the Mic Check with Mr Anderson podcast, the former WWE Tough Enough winner revealed that his firing was a result of his own lack of effort. He admitted that while he performed his scheduled matches, he did not put in any extra work to improve his craft.

Maven detailed how former WWE Senior Vice President of Talent Relations, John Laurinaitis, had asked him to get more reps in the ring, but Maven did not follow through. This ultimately led to his firing. When host Ken Anderson asked what the call was like, Maven explained the conversation.

“The firing call? Yeah. [He mimics John] ‘Maven, we’re gonna have to let you go.’ It took me years to admit this. He wasn’t wrong. He was like, ‘For a year, maybe for years, we told you to get your ass to the ring and get better.’ I just never did.”

Maven continued, taking full responsibility for the decision and attributing his mindset to his youth at the time. He noted that he enjoyed the benefits of being a wrestler more than the work of wrestling itself. “I attribute it to being young, and, at the time, I liked the life and what wrestling gave me more than what I could give wrestling, and if I could go back and redo things, I would try to give wrestling more if that makes sense.”

Anderson asked what management wanted him to do. Maven replied, “Work with Fit, work with Dean, work with these legends before the show. … Yeah, just get better. I would go down and I would talk over my six-minute match with Stevie Richards or Chavo on, and then punch the clock and then go get a workout in or something.”

To further illustrate his point, Maven used an analogy comparing his job in WWE to working at a coffee shop, explaining he was only doing the bare minimum required of him. “I’m only showing up to make the coffee. I’m not taking the garbage out. I’m not stocking the shelves. I’m not making calls to distributors.”

Maven then admitted that if he were in management\’s position, he would have made the same decision: \”even he would’ve fired himself.\”

  • Matt Cardona Returns To WWE As Zack Ryder On SmackDown

John Cena is set to compete in his final WWE match next month, and \”The Last Time Is Now\” Tournament to determine his final opponent continued on the November 14 episode of SmackDown. The night featured two first-round matches, one of which included a shocking return that electrified the crowd in Albany, NY.

In the first tournament match of the night, \”Main Event\” Jey Uso faced off against one of Cena\’s most storied rivals, The Miz. The Miz, who defeated Cena in the main event of WrestleMania XXVII, looked to gain the ultimate bragging rights by retiring him. However, Jey Uso\’s momentum was too much to overcome. Jey picked up the win after hitting a Spear followed by an Uso Splash, advancing to the next round of the tournament.

The second tournament match featured LA Knight taking on a mystery opponent hand-picked by General Manager Nick Aldis. When it was time for the reveal, Matt Cardona made his shocking return to WWE, appearing as his former character, Zack Ryder.

Ryder entered the arena to his classic \”Woo, Woo, Woo\” theme music, much to the delight of the fans, who chanted along. As the match kicked off, commentator Michael Cole pointed out that Ryder had not competed in a WWE ring (not including NXT) in five and a half years.

The match was a hard-fought contest. At one point, Zack Ryder managed to connect with the Rough Ryder, but The Megastar kicked out at the two-count. Near the end of the match, Ryder was seemingly trying to hit LA Knight with a Rough Ryder off the top rope, but Knight countered with a devastating powerbomb. LA Knight then followed up with the BFT to defeat Ryder and secure his spot in the next round of \”The Last Time Is Now\” Tournament.

Jey Uso and LA Knight now join Raw\’s Sheamus and Rusev as the first four competitors to advance in the tournament.

  • WWE SmackDown Reportedly Moving Back To Three-Hour Format

WWE SmackDown is reportedly moving back to a three-hour broadcast format starting with the first episode of 2026. According to a new report from WrestleVotes, WWE and the USA Network have agreed to expand the show, with the change taking effect on January 2, 2026. That first three-hour show of the new year will be broadcast from the KeyBank Center in Buffalo, New York.

This move mirrors the scheduling pattern established in 2025, when SmackDown also ran as a three-hour program for the first half of the year—from January until the end of June—before reverting to its traditional two-hour slot.

This new report seems to confirm a scheduling model hinted at by WWE CCO Paul \”Triple H\” Levesque. During an appearance at the All In business summit in September, Levesque described SmackDown as a show that is \”two hours — and half the year is three hours — on USA\”.

At the time, it was unclear if he was only referring to 2025, but this new report suggests the split-year format is the new standard for the blue brand.

  • Cody Rhodes Gives High Praise To Standout Non-WWE Wrestler

Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes and WWE veteran Natalya have heaped praise on a top star from outside the company, calling her ‘one of the best in the world’. Earlier this year, Natalya debuted her new character outside of WWE, competing at Josh Barnett’s Bloodsport XIII over WrestleMania weekend. Her opponent in that critically praised match was Japanese joshi star Miyu Yamashita.

Speaking to Cody Rhodes on his podcast, What Do You Wanna Talk About?, Natalya opened up on her experience wrestling Yamashita.

Natalya said, “The girl I wrestled, Miyu Yamashita, she’s one of the best female wrestlers that’s not signed by WWE, but she’s one of the best in the world.” Cody noted, “She’s one of the best in the world, she’s amazing, so incredible shoutout to her, but don’t sell yourself short. There’s two names on the marquee.”

Natalya added, \”She was phenomenal but you’re right, the magic was in us working together.” The conversation, in which both praised Yamashita, led the current Undisputed WWE Champion to ask about her future.

Cody said, \”Is she gonna come work here?” Natalya responded, “She better. Miyu, Miyu Yamashita. She’s a badass.”

Miyu Yamashita is one of the top stars of Japan\’s TJPW promotion and has made numerous appearances in the United States for companies such as AEW and on the independent circuit. While she is not currently signed to WWE, the ongoing partnership between WWE\’s NXT brand and TNA Wrestling has shown that crossover appearances are more possible now than ever before.

  • AJ Styles Explains Why Having Another TNA Match Isn’t Likely to Happen

During a recent interview with the No-Contest Wrestling podcast, WWE star AJ Styles issued a response to former TNA World Champion Mike Santana wanting to have a \”dream match\” with him in a TNA ring.

Styles explained that he understands why Santana wants the match but detailed why he believes it will probably never happen, citing the precedent it would set for other main roster talent.

“Honestly, the way he’s talking, he sounds like me with some of the legends that I’ve gotten to wrestle. You know, I just want to be able to learn from them and be in the ring with them and just say that I had the opportunity to wrestle them,\” Styles said. \”Like, I get it, man. I really do. I was hoping that this would happen. I really was. But then I realized it probably never could, as far as WWE letting me do that. And I’ll tell you why — because as soon as I open those gates for the main roster talent, now everybody’s going to want to do it.\”

Styles noted that the current partnership between the two companies is specifically designated for the NXT brand, not for main roster stars like himself.

“So, I don’t know. I don’t know if it’s going to happen, if I’m being honest, but I would like to. Don’t get me wrong,\” Styles continued. \”What a moment it was when I was able to go back, but yeah, I just don’t see that match happening as of right now. It’s NXT that has the partnership, not the main roster talent\”.

Styles, who is in the final year of his in-ring career, did make a non-wrestling appearance for TNA at Slammiversary in July 2025. While he is doubtful a match will occur, he did not close the door completely.

\”Listen, I wish I could do it. I think I should be the only guy to do it, but that’s being very selfish. So, we’ll see what happens in the future. I don’t know necessarily, but we’ll find out together.”

  • Jamie Hayter Provides Injury Update After Brutal Blood & Guts Match

The fifth installment of AEW’s Blood & Guts special took place on November 12, 2025, in Greensboro, North Carolina, and made history by featuring the first-ever women’s Blood & Guts match.

The 12-woman match saw the team of Julia Hart, Skye Blue, Thekla, Megan Bayne, Marina Shafir, and Mercedes MonĂ© defeat the team of Jamie Hayter, Willow Nightingale, Harley Cameron, Kris Statlander, ‘Timeless’ Toni Storm, and Mina Shirakawa.

The match was a brutal affair, and coming out of it, Fightful’s Sean Ross Sapp reported that Jamie Hayter got banged up. The report indicated that Hayter may have chipped several teeth during the contest.

The day after the historic match, Hayter participated in a Highspots Sign-it-Live session and provided an update on her physical condition. “I’m pretty sore. I’m not gonna lie
I’m all bruised up and stuff, but you know what? It’s alright.”

Despite the soreness, Hayter is not expected to miss any time. She is currently advertised for the upcoming AEW Full Gear event, which takes place on Saturday, November 22, in Newark, New Jersey. She hasn\’t been booked for a match at the event.

  • AJ Styles Explains What Modern Wrestling Is Missing

AJ Styles believes in-ring selling is one area where pro wrestling has gotten worse over time. Admitting that he is \”just as responsible for this as anyone,\” Styles told the No-Contest Wrestling Podcast that he feels wrestlers have gotten away from the old-school art of selling. He would like to see the industry return to a “less is more” type of approach.

“I can tell you the one thing that’s missing, and I still, to this day, I will go over my buddy’s house, before we work out, and we will watch old-school wrestling, it’s what we do. That’s kind of our thing,\” Styles said. \”And the one thing that I think is missing the most is selling.”

Styles continued, “The way they used to sell back in the day, man, they really made you believe that this hurt, you know, that this guy’s in pain. And I just feel like we’ve gotten away from that, and I’m just as guilty as anybody. But if we could take it back and make [a] less is more kind of thing happen, I think that would be best for everybody.”

While the 48-year-old Styles misses old-school selling, he named chair shots as one thing he is glad is less common than they used to be. “You know what? After taking them for so many years, I’m glad chair shots are gone,” he said. “I mean, you tried to find ways of making them hurt less by like jumping into it when he’s throwing it, you’re kind of putting your head into it so he doesn’t get a full swing.\”

“But at the end of the day, it never feels good. And I’d love to tell you that chairs to the back feel good, but they don’t,\” Styles stated. \”Kurt Angle almost knocked my soul out of my body. I mean, there’s been some hits from a chair shot. They’re pretty strong — some guys swing ’em. And you got to. You got to.”

Styles, who currently holds the World Tag Team titles with Dragon Lee on WWE Raw, is set to retire from the ring at some point in 2S026. He has not set a definitive date for when his last match will be.

  • AJ Styles Dismisses Rumor About His ‘Somebody Doesn’t Want Me Here’ Promo

AJ Styles has explained the mysterious promo he cut during a Netflix ad break on the September 8 edition of WWE Raw, where he claimed that \”somebody doesn’t want him to be in the company anymore\”.

The segment was never followed up on, and about a month later, Styles won the WWE World Tag Team Championships with Dragon Lee on the October 20 episode of Raw.

Speaking with the No Contest Wrestling Podcast for a new interview, Styles explained that he was trying to start a storyline that ultimately is not moving forward. “It was something I was trying to set up that I don’t think is going to happen,\” Styles said.

Styles also clarified that while the sentiment behind the promo was not entirely false, his comments were not directed at WWE CCO Triple H. “It’s not necessarily not true, but I’m not talking about Triple H. Let’s clear that up. But yeah, that’s all I can say about it.”

The promo caused speculation at the time, as Styles has confirmed that 2026 will be his final year of in-ring competition as he heads into retirement. While that specific angle has been dropped, Styles remains a featured part of WWE programming as one-half of the current World Tag Team Champions.

  • Bianca Belair Provides Update On \”Complicated\” Injury

Former WWE Women\’s Champion Bianca Belair has provided a new update on her recovery, revealing that the hand injury she suffered at WrestleMania 41 has been \”more complicated than expected.\” Belair, who has been out of action for nearly six months, shared the details of her \”crazy journey\” back to the ring during a recent television appearance.

Speaking on a new episode of BET’s 106 & Sports this week, Belair explained the specific nature of the injury. “So, I broke my knuckle. Not my finger, I broke my knuckle. I broke the joint. It’s something that I thought was gonna be a very straightforward, eight to 12 weeks. It’s been almost six months at this point.\”

She then recalled the exact moment the injury occurred during the acclaimed Triple Threat match against Rhea Ripley and IYO SKY at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas.

“But it was WrestleMania, and I was in a triple threat [match] with Rhea Ripley and IYO SKY. And we were going to the top rope, ‘cause that’s what we do. And we came off the top rope, and Rhea landed straight on my hand, and it just crushed everything in my finger. So, it’s been a crazy journey.\”

The former champion, a top star in the women\’s division for years, expressed her frustration with the lengthy layoff but remained optimistic about her comeback.

\”Being an athlete and having an injury, you rely on your body, and now my body’s not doing what it’s supposed to do. But I’m hoping I can be back in the ring soon.”

  • Backstage News On When MJF Is Expected Back In AEW

MJF’s time away from AEW isn’t lasting much longer. According to a report from Fightful Select, the former AEW World Champion is expected to return “sooner than later” now that filming for Violent Night 2 is \”nearly complete\”.

Sources close to the situation revealed that while a specific date “hasn’t been nailed down,” MJF is factored into AEW’s creative plans by December. His role and frequency of appearances, however, remain unclear for now. The report noted that “MJF will be returning from Hollywood (or Winnipeg) sooner than later.”

MJF has spent the last year deep in Hollywood, taking on acting roles. His commitment to film even led him to step away from AEW entirely as production for Violent Night 2 picked up in Winnipeg. Fightful added, “He’s landed roles in Violent Night 2, Happy Gilmore 2 and The Iron Claw. He’s expected to continue acting while balancing his wrestling schedule.”

Back in September, MJF dropped the CMLL World Heavyweight Title to Mistico and took a hard loss to Mark Briscoe in AEW. After that match, he admitted he wasn’t ready to return until he could look in the mirror and “no longer see a fraud”. His time away has been a mix of personal reinvention and professional evolution.

MJF is currently scheduled for WrestleCade in just over two weeks, further signaling his return to public appearances. That convention appearance is part of WrestleCade Weekend, which takes place from November 28-30 in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. This scheduled appearance falls just one week after AEW\’s Full Gear event on November 22, leading to speculation that he could make his official company return at the event in Newark, New Jersey.

  • AEW Star Is Battling Numbness And Swelling After Surgery

Buddy Matthews has been sidelined since September 2025, when he injured his ankle during his entrance at AEW Grand Slam: Australia. The injury occurred before he could even start his match against Kazuchika Okada. What first looked like a freak moment turned into a lingering issue, eventually pushing Matthews into surgery after his ankle stopped healing correctly and doctors warned him of a potential chronic condition.

While it was previously reported that Matthews was not expected back in the ring until at least the end of the year, fans finally got a real look at his recovery straight from the source. On Wednesday, Matthews posted a detailed update on Instagram, offering an honest look into his rehab progress. Matthews explained that he hit a major milestone during training.

“Today was the first time since surgery to hit a hack squat – still very restricted with ankle mobility but working on it daily!\” Matthews wrote. \”Numbness is still a factor but hopefully subsides in the near future but still unknown at this time. Swelling depends on the amount of rehab I’ve done that day but easily maintained with Icing post. Take each day as it comes!”.

Although he is clearly pushing forward, Matthews also made it clear that there is \”no set timetable for his return\”. His mobility is still limited, the numbness has not gone away, and the swelling remains a daily battle depending on the intensity of his rehab work. For now, Matthews is focused on regaining strength and stability before even thinking about stepping back into an AEW ring.

With AEW set to return to Australia for Grand Slam Australia on February 14, 2026, in Sydney, many fans wonder if that could be the moment Matthews finally comes home for a major return. However, as of his latest update, nothing is guaranteed.

  • Women’s Blood & Guts Match Ends In Surrender Finish

AEW’s November 12 edition of Dynamite delivered a violent spectacle with the first-ever Women’s Blood & Guts match—and it ended in brutal, emotional fashion. With bodies everywhere, blood spilled early and often, and in the end, it was “Timeless” Toni Storm who waved the white flag for her team to save her tag partner from further destruction. The match took place at the First Horizon Coliseum in Greensboro, North Carolina.

The match began with Skye Blue and Willow Nightingale, but things escalated fast. Blue was busted open within minutes after being slammed face-first into the cage, setting the tone for a relentless match filled with weapons, barbed wire, glass, and even a bed of nails. Participants entered in intervals, creating a layered war zone across the two rings enclosed in steel.

The winning team consisted of Mercedes Moné, Thekla, Skye Blue, Julia Hart, Megan Bayne, and Marina Shafir. They defeated the team of Kris Statlander, Toni Storm, Willow Nightingale, Jamie Hayter, Mina Shirakawa, and Harley Cameron.

As the final moments unfolded, chaos reigned. Shirakawa was trapped in a figure-four leg lock by Megan Bayne, while Marina Shafir stomped on shards of glass before attacking. The heels—Shafir, Mercedes MonĂ©, Megan Bayne, Thekla, Julia Hart, and Skye Blue—held Shirakawa down and restrained Toni Storm, forcing her into an impossible decision.

Unable to save Shirakawa from the mounting punishment and pinned down herself, Storm gave up and ended the match with a surrender. The finish was gruesome, capping off a match that will likely go down as one of the most violent in AEW women’s history. This was not just about wins and losses—it was about survival.

  • Montez Ford Teases Drastic Character Change

Montez Ford might be cooking up something major, and it does not involve tag team gold this time. Fans have long called for Ford to break out as a solo act, and now it looks like he is ready to answer.

On November 12, Ford took to X and dropped a cryptic vignette that has fans speculating. In the video, Ford appears in a sleek suit with a drink, projecting a serious, \”almost regal gangster-like energy.\” This is completely different from the energetic, fun-loving persona fans are used to.

The vibe of the video is confident, polished, and dangerous. This marks the first major signal of a character shift since Ford and Angelo Dawkins last appeared on WWE television. Their most recent match was on the October 10 edition of Friday Night SmackDown, where The Street Profits fell short in their bid to reclaim the WWE Tag Team Championships from The Wyatt Sicks.

Ford has previously said that if The Street Profits were to split, he has his eyes on singles gold—specifically the WWE Championship. That ambition, paired with this new persona, could be the beginning of a major transformation on the road to solo success. With this sudden shift in tone and presentation, fans are more convinced than ever that Montez Ford is ready to break out on his own.

  • AEW Dynamite May Feature A Surprise Return

AEW Dynamite’s Blood & Guts special could come with more than just brutality in the cage—it might feature a surprise return that fans never saw coming.

During Wrestling Observer Live, Bryan Alvarez dropped an tease about a possible comeback. While he quickly shot down speculation about two of AEW’s most discussed absentees, the door is open for speculation. “I just wanna say something really quick. I don’t think it’s Chris Jericho, but there’s a chance we might see a surprise return on AEW Dynamite. I heard something over the weekend that it’s possible. So, we’ll see. And no — it’s not Britt Baker.”

Chris Jericho has been off AEW television since April, and Britt Baker hasn’t appeared since November 2024. Fans hoping to see either of them at Blood & Guts may want to temper expectations. Here is the announced card for tonight’s edition of AEW Dynamite:

    • Mercedes MonĂ©, Thekla, Skye Blue, Julia Hart, Megan Bayne, and Marina Shafir vs. Kris Statlander, Toni Storm, Willow Nightingale, Jamie Hayter, Mina Shirakawa, and Harley Cameron in a Women\’s Blood & Guts Match
    • Hangman Adam Page vs. Powerhouse Hobbs in a Falls Count Anywhere Match
    • Jon Moxley, Claudio Castagnoli, Daniel Garcia, Wheeler Yuta, and Pac vs. Darby Allin, Orange Cassidy, Roderick Strong, Kyle O\’Reilly, and Mark Briscoe in a Men\’s Blood & Guts Match

While Alvarez ruled out Jericho and Baker, several other AEW stars remain on the sidelines. MJF has not been seen since his contract storyline played out, while Adam Cole continues to recover from his injury.

  • Big Names Being Considered For Stephanie Vaquer’s WWE WrestleMania 42 Opponent

WWE is already making big plans for Stephanie Vaquer at WrestleMania 42, and it looks like she could be facing one of the company’s top names.

According to a report from BodySlam.net, internal discussions have reportedly centered on two major opponents for her: Becky Lynch and Rhea Ripley. Vaquer has quickly established herself as a force in the women’s division, and WWE is clearly positioning her for a marquee matchup on the biggest stage of the year.

The match is not finalized yet, but the fact that both Lynch and Ripley are being considered shows how much faith WWE has in Vaquer’s ability to deliver. A match against Becky Lynch would pit Vaquer against a veteran with a legacy of delivering at WrestleMania, while a clash with Rhea Ripley would bring two of the most physical and dominant wrestlers in the company face-to-face.

WrestleMania 42 is scheduled to take place on April 18 and 19, 2026, live from Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, Nevada.

  • Willow Nightingale Pitches Feud With Top AEW Star

Former TBS Champion Willow Nightingale has pitched a feud with a current champion that she would like to see on AEW television. Nightingale debuted in AEW back in May 2021 and has had success, including runs in CMLL, Stardom, and New Japan. She is set to compete in the first-ever Women’s Blood and Guts match on November 12.

Nightingale recently spoke to Yahoo Sports about her position in AEW, noting how Google searches seem to favor her alongside other top female stars. “I think there are a handful of people who I feel like, no matter what has happened or is going to happen, I will have some weird, inexplicable link to (them). If you search my name up on Google, (Kris Statlander’s) name will come up as one of the suggested names, right?”

She also mentioned her history with the current TBS Champion. “But I also feel really linked to Mercedes (Mone), having been the last person she wrestled before coming to AEW, and then the first person she wrestled when she did come here.”

Nightingale then named ROH Women’s World Champion Athena as an ideal opponent, noting she would like to see her more on the main AEW roster. “And Athena, while I think there’s a lot more for her to be done on the main roster (in) AEW, and hopefully that can happen at some point, I feel like she is a perfect foil to Willow Nightingale. I’m big and strong, and she’s little and strong. And we both have a
I mean, she’s crazy athletic, but we both have this energy.”

Statlander and Nightingale will be reunited in the aforementioned Blood and Guts match on November 12. They will be teaming with Jamie Hayter, Harley Cameron, and Timeless Love Bombs (Toni Storm & Mina Shirakawa). Their opponents will be the Triangle of Madness (Julia Hart, Skye Blue & Thekla), Megan Bayne, Marina Shafir, and Mercedes Moné.

  • Bron Breakker On John Cena: “It’s Been An Honor To Learn from Him”

Bron Breakker, one of the top rising stars in WWE, feels honored to have gotten the chance to learn from John Cena.

Speaking with the Boston Herald, Breakker said he has developed a line of communication with Cena and appreciates how approachable the WWE legend has been. Passing on knowledge and getting to speak with younger talent have been a priority for Cena as he nears retirement.

“It’s been an honor to learn from him,” Breakker said. “He’s a quality human being, and he makes himself approachable. We’ve developed an open line of communication, and I can’t say enough about him.”

Cena won the Intercontinental title from Dominik Mysterio on Raw this week. That was Cena’s final appearance in Boston as an active wrestler. He now has only three WWE dates before retirement: Raw at Madison Square Garden next Monday, Survivor Series: WarGames on November 29, and Saturday Night’s Main Event on December 13.

The Boston Herald asked Breakker about potentially being one of Cena’s last opponents. “There aren’t too many chances left, so it wouldn’t be something I would take lightly,” Breakker responded. “If I get that chance, I’ll be ready.”

Breakker is part of The Vision in WWE with Bronson Reed and his manager Paul Heyman. The men’s WarGames match at Survivor Series is slated to feature Breakker, Reed, and Logan Paul leading a team against CM Punk, Cody Rhodes, and Jey Uso. More participants are still set to be added to the match, which was made official on the November 10 episode of Raw.
