  • Watch: Sami Zayn Goes Off On \’Golden Boy\’ Cody Rhodes

Sami Zayn is not holding back anymore.

This week\’s episode of SmackDown featured a heated backstage confrontation between the Ultimate Underdog and Cody Rhodes after the chaotic ending to their main event match last week. Zayn, who lost the opportunity to go to Elimination Chamber, told the American Nightmare that he had betrayed him. Cody responded by saying not being able to take advantage of opportunities like that was the reason Sami has never been world champion:

\”Sami, that\’s your perspective what happened. That was chaos. The match wasn\’t over. The bell hadn\’t rung. The whistle hadn\’t blown. Yeah, you fell back into a Cross Rhodes. It\’s an opportunity I took advantage of. And those opportunities, they don\’t just plop in your lap, Sami. Those are the opportunities that when they\’ve come to you, you haven\’t taken advantage of them. And that\’s why you haven\’t become WWE Champion.\”

    You Were Chosen: Sami Zayn

The former NXT Champion did not hold back in his response to Cody either, and Sami Zayn told the former AEW star that he was the golden boy who was handed everything he had achieved:

\”There it is. That\’s real easy for you to say when you\’re the Golden Boy. Right, QB1? Everything always comes up aces for Cody Rhodes. You got to finish your story, Cody. You were chosen. Nobody chose me. I\’ve been trying to finish my story for 10 damn years. You understand? No you don\’t. Of course you don\’t understand \’cause you don\’t know what it\’s like to constantly go out there and try to do the right thing every single time and have it blown onto your face.\”

Cody Rhodes then argued that he lost the WWE title to Drew McIntyre trying to do the right thing before walking away, leaving a distraught Sami Zayn to contemplate his future. Sami later chased him down to apologise to the former WWE champion, though the fans were not happy with the later segment:

  • Watch: Footage of Vince McMahon\’s 2025 Car Crash Released

The bodycam footage of Vince McMahon\’s car crash has been released.

The former WWE owner was involved in a car accident last year, where his 2024 Bentley Continental GT priced at over $300,000 collided into a 2023 BMW 430. The accident reported in the Connecticut area on Thursday July 24, happened only hours before the news of Hulk Hogan\’s passing was made public.

There were no serious injuries coming out of the incident, thankfully, and Vince McMahon was issued a misdemeanor summons and released on a $500 bond at the time.

    Vince McMahon Crash Footage

Now the new footage from a Connecticut State Trooper\’s body cam has shown the moment of the crash. It shows Vince rear-ending the BMW before slamming his Bentley into a guardrail, sending the debris flying across the road.

Despite this, however, the longtime wrestling promoter kept driving the car. He only stopped when pulled over by the State Trooper, who informed McMahon that he was going at around 115 miles/hr.

McMahon appeared dazed and told the trooper that he was on his way to visit his granddaughter on her birthday. The 80-year-old was also heard saying, “God damn it. Stupid f**king fool,” to himself and admitted that he had not driven his car in a long time.

  • Blake Monroe Comments On Current NXT Direction

Blake Monroe says she will challenge for the NXT Women\’s title when she wants.

The fans have questioned the female star\’s direction in NXT in recent times. The fact that the young star has been left chasing the Women\’s Speed title after the events of the development show the past couple of weeks has especially led people to criticize WWE\’s handling of the former AEW Women\’s Champion.

During her recent appearance on Busted Open Radio, Blake Monroe sseemingly defended her current trajectory. Trying to explain why she is not going after the brand\’s top champion Jacy Jayne, the English star claimed that she will challenge for the NXT Women\’s title when she is ready for it:

“I’m letting Jacy Jayne try. I’m letting her have her fun and her moment, giving her some time. When I’m ready to take the title, I will. So, if she’s still a champion, she knows I’m coming. I’ve already pinned her, I pinned her on my debut — main eventing a pay-per-view by the way. When I’m ready, I will come for her but for right now, I’m not doing that.”

Coming off a highly praised feud with Toni Storm in AEW, the former Mariah May was introduced as an important figure upon her NXT debut in June last year. She had a run with the Women\’s North American Championship as well. Her stock seems to have declined, however, after she lost the belt in a botched finish.

A quickly deleted tweet referencing The Rock, not long after this controversy, is unlikely to have gone over well with the NXT officials either, and her recent booking could very well be the reflection of it.

Do you think Blake Monroe is being punished by NXT officials for her recent behaviour? Let us know in the comments below.

  • It\’s Really Defeating: Deonna Purrazzo Breaks Silence On Strange AEW Treatment

Deonna Purrazzo has opened up about her frustrations in AEW.

The ROH Women\’s Pure Champion recently made some headlines with a social media post. She took to X to invite bookings, noting that she\’s only had one match in 2026. This attracted a lot of criticism for AEW, with people questioning the company over their treatment of the female stars.

In a new interview with BCP+, the former TNA Knockouts Champion detailed her frustrations. Deonna Purrazzo mentioned that she is constantly racking her brain to figure out what more she can do to get booked. Her efforts not being reciprocated by the management, however, is really defeating for her:

\”I think a lot of my self-worth comes from my work, and my body of work, and being able to participate actively, and feel like I am making a difference in women’s wrestling.

And I think that it’s been a really rough, I wouldn’t even say just 2026. I’d say it was a really rough year, 2025 into right now, that I’ve not really been able to do that at the level I’ve previously done it at. And I don’t know what else I can do to change that.\”

Whatever Stakes That Costs: Deonna Purrazzo

Deonna Purrazzo became the inaugural ROH Women\’s Pure Champion by defeating Billie Starkz at the Final Battle event this past December. Though as mentioned in her tweet, she has had only one match in 2026 after her title victory and the reigning champion is yet to be booked in a title defence.

Explaining why she made the post for bookings going against the AEW management, The Virtuosa said that she needs to stay ready for when an opportunity does come her way. Purrazzo explained that she is just trying to control what she can even if it hurts her relationship with her current employers:

\”So for me it was saying, okay if I’m not going to get these opportunities here, I need to stay ready. I need to stay crisp for when they do come. So I’m gonna put out a tweet, and I’m gonna take independent bookings, and I’m gonna try to stay ahead of that ring rust that I might get, if this year continues on this path.

And that way, I’m trying to control everything I can control. Like I said, it’s really defeating. It’s really upsetting. But at the end of the day, this is business, and I have to continue to run my own, at whatever stakes that costs.”

Deonna Purrazzo is not the only female star facing this kind of treatment in AEW. Names such as Britt Baker and Kamille have also been missing from the company for a long time, without any explanation. Most recently, Mercedes Martinez opened up about similar struggles during her time in the company. You can check out what she said here.

  • Royce Keys Opens Up About His Brother\’s Unfortunate Passing

Royce Keys has opened up about his brother\’s passing.

The newest WWE signee recently appeared on Stephanie McMahon\’s podcast. Among other things, he talked about growing up in a tough neighbourhood and learning to control his anger knowing that small mistakes can ruin your life. Giving an example of the same, the former Powerhouse Hobbs recalled his brother losing his life because of the drug trade:

\”I\’ve seen a lot of things that just like, man I\’m not gonna act like this because this will happen. My brother was a big drug dealer, lost his life. It was one of those things like…I don\’t know if I should say like it was meant to happen, but if you play a certain game, you win certain prizes, right?\”

It Reminds Me of Him: Royce Keys

Royce Keys has talked about his brother in the past, mentioning that he wanted to become Hobbs\’ manager in the wrestling business. He unfortunately lost his life in a shootout when the wrestling star was only 22. The former TNT Champion also got injured in the incident, but according to Powerhouse Hobbs, his brother saved his life by shoving him out of the way and taking a bullet himself:

\”So it\’s one of those things like…you look what he sacrificed was himself to save me. It\’s just like I replay it in my head. To see somebody lying there just gasping for air and just blood coming out of him, and you don\’t know what to feel. Someone that\’s trying to get by, do what we have to do to survive, to lose their life. So it\’s like I kinda…I go through these moments where I hear certain things and it reminds me of him.\”

Apart from this, the WWE star talked about his aspirations in the company after his signing. You can check out his remarks here.

  • Royce Keys Says The Honeymoon Period of His WWE Run Is Over

Royce Keys wants a Hall of Fame career.

Previously known as Powerhouse Hobbs, the former AEW star made his surprise WWE debut at the Royal Rumble PPV. He entered the match at #14 with his new ring name, and was eliminated by Bronson Reed after an impressive showing.

The former TNT Champion opened up about his arrival for the first time during his appearance on Stephanie McMahon\’s podcast. Royce Keys claimed that he is not going to get complacent after his signing as he wants to become a legend and have a Hall of Fame-worthy career in WWE. According to the 36-year-old, his dream is to become one of the most dominant and feared competitors in the company:

\”The moment I had talks about coming here and signing here, this isn’t a one-off. This isn’t me [saying] hey, I’m a WWE superstar now, let me gloat. No, I still have to work. It took me years to get here…okay, honeymoon phase is over. Let’s get with it. Let’s do work. I got people that depend on me. I got people that I can’t let down. I got people I take care of. So if I fail, they don’t eat. And I’m not about to have that on my conscience and shoulders. There’s no excuse.”

Royce Keys made his singles debut for WWE in a dark match before the February 13 episode of SmackDown. Though his absence from WWE programming after the Royal Rumble appearance has been a major point of discussion. You can check out a report on the original plans for Keys and the potential reason behind him being off TV here.

  • WWE Working On New Shawn Michaels Project

A new Shawn Michaels documentary is coming soon.

The latest WrestleVotes Radio show reported that WWE has been working on a new documentary centered around the Heartbreak Kid. The full-length feature is expected to include several new interviews with his peers and longtime adversaries.

While the main subject of the documentary is not confirmed, the speculation is that it could be centered around the 30-year anniversary of Michaels realizing his boyhood dream. Fans should find more about it soon in any case, as the new feature is expected to air before WrestleMania 42.

    Shawn Michaels\’ First World Title

After teasing retirement, Shawn Michaels made a surprise return at the 1996 Royal Rumble event, winning the battle royal for the second year in a row for a WWF title opportunity at WrestleMania.

The following Iron Man match with Bret Hart is considered one of the best matches in all of pro wrestling. After both contestants failed to get any pins under the 60-minute time limit, Bret started to leave with his title. President Gorilla Monsoon, however, instructed the match to be restarted under the sudden death rules.

Michaels went on to defeat the Hitman for his first world title after pinning him with not one but two Sweet Chin Music. The line delivered by Vince McMahon on commentary after the match then became wrestling history.

  • Another Former NXT Champion Expected On Main Roster

Sol Ruca might be main roster-bound soon.

The former NXT Women\’s North American Champion impressed people with her performance at the Royal Rumble PPV last month, reaching as far the final 3 before being eliminated by Tiffany Stratton.

Now Fightful Select has provided an update on Sol\’s future within the company, saying that a number of her \’internal supporters\’ believe that her time in NXT has run its course.

Joining WWE in 2022 without any prior wrestling experience, the former gymnast made her NXT debut in September that year. Her career took off in 2024 when Ruca formed a tag team with Zaria. She went on to win the Women\’s Speed title as well as the NA title after this.

There is no word on when exactly the former champion is expected to be called up, but the site notes that she was tentatively planned to be in Chicago around the Elimination Chamber PPV on February 28. Sol Ruca is also poised for a character refresh in preparation of this jump, which could include her getting a new theme song.

Though the development brand has also been teasing her breakup with Zaria for a long time. So it\’s possible that Ruca will continue working NXT dates after the call up to finish this story.

  • Seth Rollins Explains Why WWE Run Was Hard For Ronda Rousey

Seth Rollins was not surprised by Ronda Rousey\’s WWE exit.

The former UFC star had two runs with WWE. The first one saw her joining the company as a full-time star in January 2018 and led to the WrestleMania 36 main event the next year. The second run started when she made a surprise return at the 2022 Royal Rumble and ended with her SummerSlam 2023 match with Shayna Baszler. The former Women\’s Champion has especially been critical of her second run in which she suffered multiple losses and was booked not as strongly.

During a recent interview with Club Shay Shay, Seth Rollins was asked if he was surprised that Ronda Rousey did not stay in the business longer. The Architect replied negatively, noting that at first everything was curated to make Rousey look strong:

\”No, not at all. It\’s hard. It\’s really hard. What they were asking Ronda to do is very difficult. The schedule was crazy still at that time. This is pre-COVID, she comes in. She comes in 2018-17, something like that. And at first, it\’s very easy. I don\’t mean this in a negative way, but everything\’s curated for her, so everything\’s choreographed, and she has one match every six months or something like that. It gets well-rehearsed and that\’s fun. You get to do wrestling that way, and that can be really fun, and that can be addicting for people, but that\’s not really what wrestling is. Wrestling is a bit of a grind.\”

That Is a Really Hard Thing To Do: Seth Rollins

Seth Rollins explained that in her second run, Ronda Rousey was asked to learn the grind of professional wrestling, which is much harder for anyone not used to it:

\”It used to be 5 times a week, but that\’s how you learn your craft, you know, but if you\’re not used to that and you\’re coming in… and it\’s not Ronda\’s fault. You\’re coming in and that\’s how you\’re presented, and then you have to work backwards, you have to work opposite of the way I did, where I came up doing all that and then I got to do the fun stuff at the end. That\’s easier because now it\’s like, \’Oh wow, wait, you\’re telling me I only have to wrestle 50 times a year? Easy. I used to do 250.\’ So this is nothing. When you go the other way, that is a really hard thing to do.\”

The former World Champion also mentioned that Rousey had aspirations to start a family, which is a very difficult thing to do on the WWE schedule.

  • John Cena Was Hours Away From 17th World Title In 2021

John Cena could have been an 18-time world champion.

The Cenation Leader revealed many secrets of his WWE retirement tour during his appearance on No Contest Wrestling podcast. Among them were the original plans for his Crown Jewel 2025 match with AJ Styles, an explanation for why he didn\’t retire at WrestleMania, and more.

During the talk, he also mentioned that his 17th world title victory was actually supposed to happen much earlier. John Cena recalled his SummerSlam 2021 match with Roman Reigns, and claimed that he was originally planned to beat The Tribal Chief but hand the belt back to him on the same night:

“I was going to win 17. We were going to have someone come out and restart the match and Roman was going to take it back. The way we put together the match was we were going to give him a hell of a match, everything out the door, no rules, no nothing, like tons of finishers, all this stuff because I was going to win and then Roman was going to take it back.\”

One Spear, That\’s It: John Cena

The actual turn of events saw Brock Lesnar making his surprise return to the company for the first time since WrestleMania 36, after Reigns had defeated The Cenation Leader. The Beast Incarnate went on to take out the Hollywood star with multiple German suplexes and an F5 to close the show.

John Cena revealed that the plans for Lesnar\’s return were not finalized until about 5PM on the day of the show:

“Then, we secure Brock. [Someone from office] comes and says, ‘I need to see you. We’re switching the finish.’ ‘To what?’ ‘Roman over. Clean.’ ‘Okay. Let me talk to Roman and Paul [Heyman].’ We go in, ‘You got the news? What do we do?’ I said, ‘One spear. That’s it. Whatever match you want to have, that’s fine. You beat me with your finish once.’\”

The former face of WWE finally beat Ric Flair\’s record and became a 17-time world champion at WrestleMania 41. Had he broken the record at SummerSlam that year, however, it\’s possible that he could have had an 18th reign to close out his career.

  • Eva Marie Explains Why She Got Red Hair Against WWE Orders

Eva Marie has revealed why she dyed her hair red for her first WWE run.

The former WWE star recently spoke to Chris Van Vliet for an interview. She discussed topics such as her infamous wardrobe malfunction segment, opening up about her struggles with addiction on Total Divas, and more.

During the session, Eva Marie also told the story behind her red hair that gave her a unique look and made her stand out during her first WWE run. The female star, whose natural hair color is black, recalled getting the call from WWE office offering her the job. The instruction that was given to her at the time was to go blonde so she didn\’t overshadow the Bella Twins:

\”When I got a call on Saturday saying that I got the job, they mentioned a lot of the girls that have left were platinum blonde. Because the twins are Mexican-Italian too, so we don’t want you to look like one of The Bella Twins. Are you okay with changing your hair to platinum blonde? I didn’t care. I was like, Yeah, sure, whatever.\”

Like Mufasa From Lion King: Eva Marie

When Eva Marie finally went to the salon to get the blonde look, however, she realized that it would not work for her. Marie, whose mom was a hairdresser, claimed that maintaining the blonde look would have ruined her hair completely. So in that moment, she made the decision to dye her hair red instead, taking inspiration from Rihanna:

\”I’m in the chair, and they’re stripping my hair color from previous colors and stuff, and it starts to kind of look orangey. I literally look at JoJo and I was like; I can’t do it. I literally say in the chair, I look like Mufasa from The Lion King. I look insane. It looks terrible. It’s orange. There is no way.

Well, I was listening to Rihanna’s album at the time, it was when she had that crazy fire-red hair. I think her album was called Loud at the time. I was like, dude, her hair is sick. It was just such a fire engine red. I was like, f*ck it. Let’s go red.\”

The former wrestling star noted that it was a huge gamble on her part since she was going against the edict of Vince McMahon and other higher-ups. Though she decided to go with it anyway, because Marie knew that she would never be successful if she felt insecure and self-conscious while joining the company.

  • Evan Marie Opens Up About Infamous Wardrobe Malfunction Segment

Evan Marie has opened up about her most famous segment.

The former WWE star spoke to Chris Van Vliet for a new interview. She talked about things such as accidentally joining the cast of Total Divas, dying her hair red for her WWE run, and more.

During the talk, the female star also opened up about her infamous wardrobe malfunction segment. Evan Marie recalled how she hadn\’t had much training before joining the main roster, and the storyline was that she always had an excuse for postponing her in-ring debut. The early ideas for that included her getting stuck in traffic or hurting her knee. While she doesn\’t remember who pitched the idea of the wardrobe malfunction segment, she was ready to do it without any hesitation:

\”I can’t remember who exactly thought of that idea, but it was pitched to me. I’m obviously easy, I’m really am, especially because I’m a bad guy as is, so I have removed really quickly being the hero or being like, the one that doesn’t look silly. Because I think that also is a big component in going into WWE. Sometimes some superstars have a really hard time with [being the butt of the joke], or not being the man. I kind of let that sh*t go, because it was like, it’s fine, here we are, and it worked. People really did hate me.\”

It Came Off Pretty Good: Eva Marie

Eva Marie noted how WWE fans really hated her character, and they couldn\’t wait to talk shit to her. She then mentioned how the segment, which is on of the most watched YouTube videos of the company with over 47 million views, was hard to pull off on live TV:

\”But the wardrobe one was gnarly, because it’s live television, so to make it realistic, we had to do like we did a run through with it, because the last thing that we needed me actually dropping my top. So cameramen were paranoid, freaking out, so I was securely taped, but it came off pretty good.”

The former NXT star later also praised Becky Lynch, who was supposed to face her on the night, for her performance during the segment.

  • John Cena Explains Why He Didn\’t Retire At WrestleMania

John Cena thought retiring at WrestleMania would be selfish.

The handling of Cena\’s retirement run received a lot of criticism from fans. One of the biggest points of complaint was having the Cenation Leader\’s final match at a Saturday Night\’s Main Event in middle of December instead of WrestleMania a few months later.

During his recent appearance on the No Contest Wrestling podcast, the 17-time world champion explained the reasoning behind this choice. John Cena noted that December is a tough month for WWE because people are saving their money for Holidays:

\”December is like a month in limbo. They\’ve never really been able to crack that code. And with people on holiday, there\’s until the holiday season is over, until like the 26th, tickets are tough to sell. Because people are spending on holiday presents. So it\’s a weak month for viewership, it\’s a weak month for live attendance and every \’fan\’ fans are like, \’Wait till January.\’ We\’ve advertised. That\’s when the road to WrestleMania starts.\”

Sure Enough, It Worked: John Cena

John Cena reiterated that he had no hand in choosing the arena or the opponent for his final match. He did choose the month of December, because he thought it was the place where he could do the most for the business:

\”When I presented this idea to Nick Khan and Triple H, they were awesome. \’Who do you want to work with? What event do you want to retire?\’ I simply said, \’Hunter who I want to work with is up to you. That\’s your department. I have never been that guy. I don\’t want to take this last year and change who I am. You deal with my plan. Nick, from a business perspective, the data that I\’ve gathered over 23 years of doing business is December is soft. WrestleMania is gonna sell itself.\’

So retiring at WrestleMania is selfish. It doesn\’t do anything for the business. We retire in December, our weakest month. We take the middle of December, the dry zone, that desert from the end of Survivor Series to the beginning of the Rumble. We put it like right in the middle of December.

Just because I know once you do the holiday tour, the houses will come back. You guys will make money. Let\’s show a profit in Q4. You put whatever arena you want, doesn\’t matter. I have no affiliation to geography. Just let\’s get ourselves in the best position to have the best December we can, because this is a, I feel, it\’s an event that people will pay to see. And sure enough, it worked.\”

The December 2025 SNME brought in 19,274 fans and became the highest-grossing WWE arena event ever as well as the highest-grossing event ever at the Capital One Arena.

Elsewhere in the interview, John Cena also commented on Cody Rhodes and other names wanting to bring back live events. You can check out why the Hollywood star spoke negatively about the prospect here.

  • MJF Takes Aim At Ex-AEW Stars Struggling In WWE

    MJF has commented on AEW\’s \’problem children.\’

The AEW World Champion recently spoke to New York Post to promote the upcoming Double or Nothing PPV. The show has been announced for the Louis Armstrong Stadium in Queens, New York, on May 24.

During the interview, the Salt of the Earth discussed the recent momentum shift for the company, explaining that it\’s a result of everyone in the promotion working together to put the best foot forward. He compared it to the situation just a couple of years ago when AEW was facing the challenge of a divided locker room, leading to business metrics suffering across the board:

“To put it mildly, I don’t have to name names, it’s not necessary to name names, but problem children tend to have a way of finding their way out the door, and some of those problem children, in my opinion, they thought they were taking a step forward when all they were doing was taking a step laterally or backwards.”

There have been many talents who have jumped ship from WWE to AEW and vice versa since the inception of the Tony Khan-owned promotion in 2019. This includes names such as Cody Rhodes, CM Punk, Jade Cargill, and Swerve Strickland, who have all utilised the momentum from the move to reach new levels in their careers.

The grass has not been greener for everyone who has made the move, however. Notably, names such as Aleister Black, Rusev, Ricky Saints, and Mariah May have found themselves struggling to make an impact at their new home. Most recently fans have complained about WWE putting May, now going by the name of Blake Monroe in the Speed Title Tournament.

What do you think about MJF\’s latest remarks about AEW stars who have left the promotion? Let us know in the comments below.

  • Title Match And More Added To AEW Revolution

New matches have been added to AEW Revolution.

The Young Bucks had won a three-way match at last week\’s Dynamite to earn a shot at the AEW tag team champions FTR. This week\’s episode of the Wednesday Night show saw the AEW co-founders taking out the tag champions and their manager, Stokely Hathaway with superkicks.

The brothers then laid out the challenge for the much-anticipated rematch for the upcoming PPV set to take place from the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, California, on March 15.

The show also featured Jon Moxley challenging Konosuke Takeshita to a No Time Limit rematch at the event. This comes after their Continental Championship match at Grand Slam Australia ended in a 20-minute time limit draw.

This is in addition to the already announced World Title match between AEW Champion MJF and challenger Hangman Page for the upcoming show. The two stars had a promo battle on Dynamite this week where Page proposed a surprising stipulation for the bout. You can check out more about it here.

  • Watch: Bryan Danielson Pays Emotional Tribute to Kerwin Silfies On Dynamite

AEW paid tribute to Kerwin Silfies on his passing.

Following Willow Nightingale\’s successful TBS title defence on Dynamite, the camera cut to the commentary team where Tony Schiavone acknowledged the passing of the longtime WWE director.

Schiavone said that the former WWE employee was a great man and mentioned how he was always very calm under pressure. Bryan Danielson then paid tribute to his former colleague as well, getting visibly emotional over the loss:

\”Yeah, and also he was very kind and very patient. Sorry guys this is hard for me. I didn\’t know anything about TV production when I got to WWE. Kerwin was so kind and helpful and I just wanna say our condolences go out to his family and friends. We love you man.\”

Joining WWE in 1985, Kerwin Silfies would go on to become one of the most influential figures in pro wrestling history with his work behind the scene. He served as director for programs such as WrestleMania, Saturday Night\’s Main Event and even WWE\’s first broadcast in Saudi Arabia.

After his passing this Tuesday at the age of 75, names such as Triple H and Adam Pearce have taken social media to pay tribute. You can check out their posts below:

  • Swerve Strickland Turns Heel After Dynamite Victory Over Kenny Omega

    Swerve Strickland has finally snapped.

Tonight\’s Dynamite from Sacramento, California, was main evented by the former AEW Champion facing Kenny Omega in their first-ever singles match.

The physical 20-minute bout saw both contenders trying their best to win the match. Omega hit multiple V-Triggers towards the ending of the fight, but it was Strickland who picked up the victory with a House Call counter.

The winner wasn\’t done with his opponent even after the bell, however. After some brutal punches, Swerve obtained a chain from Prince Nana and hung Omega over the ropes in a brutal spot.

If this wasn\’t enough of a statement, Swerve Strickland then went out of the ring and cleared the announce desk. Bryan Danielson at the commentary pleaded with him not to continue the beatdown, but Strickland finished Kenny off with a Deadeye on the table.

The heel turn for the rap star had been teased since his return at Full Gear last year. There has also been speculation about Strickland potentially reviving the Mogul Embassy. So it\’s possible that we will see the faction reuniting under Swerve after tonight\’s show.

  • AEW Star Cleared For Action After 7 Months

Thunder Rosa is back in AEW.

This week\’s episode of Dynamite featured Renee Paquette interviewing Kris Statlander in a backstage segment after she lost her AEW Women\’s World Championship to Thekla last week.

Statlander was joined by none other than a returning Thunder Rosa, who had not been seen on AEW programming since the All In Texas PPV last July.

Kris first confirmed that she was not cleared to compete after her brutal match last week, but said that she still wants to fight the new Women\’s Champion and make her pay.

Thunder Rosa then joined in on the conversation and revealed that she was finally cleared for action. The Mexican star then warned Thekla that she was coming for her in a Spanish promo. When Statlander tried to warn Rosa about the Toxic Spider, the AEW veteran dismissed the concern saying that she was better than ever.

It\’s unknown how long Kris Statlander will stay out of action but it seems likely that we will see Thekla defending her title against Thunder Rosa in the coming times.

Tonight’s show also featured a promo battle between AEW Champion MJF and Hangman Page where the challenger proposed a big stipulation for their upcoming Revolution match. You can check out more about it here.

  • Hangman Page Proposes Big Stipulation for Revolution Match Against MJF

Hangman Page has proposed an interesting stipulation for his upcoming World title match with MJF at Revolution.

This week\’s episode of Dynamite featured the challenger and the champion in a promo battle where they tried to decide which one of the two hated the other more. The talk then moved towards a potential stipulation for their upcoming encounter, with Page leaning towards a Texas Death match.

Though MJF quickly dismissed the idea, saying that they will have nothing but a real, normal professional wrestling match. This is when Hangman threw a curveball and said that, in return for the Death match stipulation he will agree to never challenge for the World Title again if he loses.

The AEW World Champion found the idea intriguing but said that he will take some time to think things through before agreeing to anything.

A stipulation such as this has been executed one time before in AEW when Cody Rhodes lost the AEW title match to Chris Jericho at 2019 Full Gear. MJF was involved in that decision as well, and he threw in the towel on behalf of the American Nightmare to end the bout.

AEW Revolution this year will be taking place on March 15 at Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, California.

Do you think it\’s a wise decision for Hangman Page to choose this stipulation for his upcoming match? Let us know in the comments.

  • John Cena’s Spicy Reaction To Cody Rhodes Wanting More Live Events

John Cena doesn\’t know if bringing back live events will be a good thing.

There has been a recent push from some top WWE names to bring back untelevised live events in some form. One of the talents that has been very vocal on the subject is Cody Rhodes.

The Cenation Leader addressed this notion during his recent appearance on the No Contest Wrestling podcast. John Cena questioned whether it is a good idea, however, mentioning how a lot of wrestlers go into business for themselves in name of having fun at live events:

\”There\’s a lot of the performers that want more live events. I don\’t know if that\’s good or bad. We\’ve only been doing this a couple years, and all the data points say what we\’re doing is great. I asked the performers why? They said \’We want time and attention.\’ Great answer. When I watch live events, a lot of times, you guys are going into business for yourself. Fuck off.

You have fun. But it\’s not fun that follows the narrative of the show, and it\’s a disconnect to the audience. So you want more freedom to be able to – if the crowd is chanting 619, should I do one right now? That\’s different than like, \’I want to do a fun spot that I think is going to be fun with my partners [but] it\’ll be a disconnect from the audience.\’\”

Make My Job Harder: John Cena

The 17-time-world champion explained that the freedom of live events still has to fall under the overall narrative of the show. John Cena gave the example of CM Punk as someone who can do this without people realizing that he is breaking character:

\”Like I said, I watched every event, and when a lot of the performers have fun, they go in business for themselves. That\’s it. It\’s not…CM Punk is one of the smoothest who can – inside baseball without ruining the narrative. You never know his tricks. It\’s like that when he was like, \’I miss you already,\’ like in Saudi, he literally dropped the act for one second. No one noticed it, and he almost made me bust out crying. It was so emotional. But he never ruined the narrative. He never went in business for himself.

So I don\’t know if more live events are the answer, because all I\’ve seen, is people take advantage of that and make my job harder as somebody who closes the show. They just mess around, have fun, but they don\’t listen to the audience whether they bought it or not, and if they buy it, do they buy it in the right way? Like I don\’t, I don\’t know any of these answers.\”

  • John Cena Reveals Original Plan For Crown Jewel 2025, Why They Were Changed

John Cena says the Brock Lesnar match led to his final encounter with AJ Styles at Crown Jewel 2025.

The Cenation Leader wrestled AJ Styles one final time at the PPV in Australia last October. The highly praised match saw the Phenomenal One paying tribute to his time in TNA, before his own retirement at the Royal Rumble PPV this January.

During his most recent appearance on the No Contest Wrestling podcast, John Cena revealed that originally, he was supposed to face Drew McIntyre at the PPV instead:

“In the whole story arc of the thing, I try to plan it as a year of creative experiences, but you also gotta be able to pivot. \’Hey you got Travis and Rock.\’ \’You don’t have Rock; you don’t have Travis.\’ ‘We’re gonna do this, we\’re gonna do this this.’ AJ was supposed to be Drew. We pivoted.\”

    They Were Listening: John Cena

The Cenation Leader has referred to the pivots made during his retirement tour in the past and confirmed that his heel turn at Elimination Chamber involving The Rock and Travis Scott was not the original plan.

While explaining the reason why his opponent was changed from Drew to AJ, John Cena suggested that it was a decision based on the negative reaction to Brock Lesnar squashing him at WrestlePalooza:

\”But like \’We want to give them a feel-good moment\’ because they were listening to the data points. Like they listen to you guys. They do. It’s real. So you have the Brock moment, people are pissed off. Then you have the AJ moment, and things are great.\”

The 17-time world champion went on to discuss how the match with AJ was followed by the rivalry with Dominik Mysterio where he won the IC title and finally the retirement match with Gunther.

  • Mercedes Martinez Opens Up About AEW Women\’s Division Struggles And Exit

Mercedes Martinez has opened up about her AEW departure.

The wrestling veteran was part of the AEW roster from 2021 to 2025. She was featured on programs such as Rampage and Dark early in her run with the company and later moved to ROH after Tony Khan bought the promotion. After not being featured on ROH TV since early 2024, Martinez finally left the promotion when her deal expired at the start of this year.

During a recent interview with In The Weeds, the former ROH Women\’s Champion opened up about her run with the company and her departure. Speaking about the reason her run was not as successful as fans hoped, Mercedes Martinez explained that it was the result of a bloated roster:

\”I don’t want to talk bad about a company at all. Tony (Khan) gave me an opportunity when I first got there and ran with the popularity, and it just fizzled out a little bit. Sometimes, when you have a bloated roster, so many talented female wrestlers just go down the totem pole. That’s what I felt.\”

I Think That Was The Problem: Mercedes Martinez

Mercedes Martinez revealed that she kept pitching storyline ideas to creative as long as she was signed to the company, but claimed that she did not feel frustrated at her voice not being heard. The former ROH star noted that she didn\’t know the reason she was off TV so she couldn\’t figure out a way to solve the problem:

\”The time stuff for female wrestlers in any promotion tends to be small, and I think that was the problem. They had this phenomenal roster of talented female wrestlers and they didn’t know where everybody was going to fit. I didn’t have to be on TV. I didn’t want to be on Dynamite or Collision. I was happy with Ring of Honor because that’s where you’re seeing a lot of up-and-coming wrestlers, which is what I wanted to do.\”

The former Champion later also opened up about leaving the promotion. The 45-year-old, who has confirmed that 2026 will be her last year as full-time wrestler, noted that she gave the company a way out by telling them that she was not looking to re-sign. Martinez told the officials that she wanted to do this her own way with no chains and creative freedom. Though she later also thanked Tony Khan, saying that she felt blessed at getting the opportunity.

Ronda Rousey has revealed how her fight with Gina Carano came together.

The former UFC Champion confirmed her return to the Octagon for the first time since December 2016 this week. Her return fight with Carano has been announced at 145 pounds, taking place on May 16 from Intuit Dome in Los Angeles.

The former WWE star spoke to ESPN MMA for an interview after the announcement, providing some details of the upcoming fight. Explaining where the idea came from, Ronda Rousey recalled watching a video of Gina Carano during her time off from combat sports. The UFC Hall of Famer who has always spoken highly of Carano, said that she wanted to uplift the fellow MMA legend:

“I was nine months pregnant and I saw a video of Gina Carano giving an interview and she didn’t look good. She gained like an unhealthy amount of weight. And my first thought was like, ‘Oh my God, what can I do? What can I do to help?’ And the reason why I had that thought was because she’s the one woman not only in MMA that doesn’t owe me a damn thing, but that I owe immensely,”

Didn\’t Exactly Work Out: Ronda Rousey

The event that is set to be streamed on Netflix is interestingly being promoted by Jake Paul\’s Most Valuable Promotions instead of UFC. During the talk, Ronda Rousey revealed that she had actually contacted Dana White but they couldn\’t reach a deal:

“I reached out to Dana and asked him if he would be interested in it. And it didn’t exactly work out with the UFC, but it led us to here today,\”

The timing of this event has also been a topic of discussion, as UFC is set to hold its White House event less than a month later on June 14, 2026.

Rusev will evaluate his wrestling future in 5 years.

The WWE star recently spoke to Chris Van Vliet for an interview where he discussed things such as his infamous storyline with Lana and Bobby Lashley, his early life in Bulgaria, working with Dusty Rhodes in NXT, and more.

With the recent string of retirements in the industry, Rusev was also asked if he has thought about the end of his own career.  The 40-year-old said that his plan is to make a decision after evaluating his physical condition at 45. Though he also noted that he feels better than he has done in a long time due to the reduced schedule and better training:

“I said 45 and then reevaluate the body, see how it feels. But so far, I feel great. I haven’t felt that good in a long time, because it’s not like you have matches every day. So the body is way more protected. I take care of my body a lot more. I do a lot of stretching and massages. I eat a lot better. I train a lot smarter. So I just take care of my body, and I know that the body’s going to take care of me.”

Elsewhere in the interview, the former AEW star also opened up about his WWE return. Rusev, who had only wrestled 11 matches for Tony Khan\’s promotion since 2022, said that wanting to wrestle more was one of the reasons he chose to sign with WWE again.

Apart from this, the former TNT Champion discussed his WrestleMania 31 rivalry with John Cena and revealed the biggest thing he learned from working with the Hollywood star. You can check out his comments here.

  • Rusev Reveals The Biggest Thing He Learned From John Cena

Rusev has revealed what he learned from John Cena.

The former US Champion recently spoke to Chris Van Vliet for a new interview. He talked about things such as his time in NXT, being part of League of Nations faction, how much longer he wants to wrestle and more.

During the interview, Rusev was also asked about his WrestleMania 31 rivalry with John Cena and what is the biggest thing he learned from the Cenation Leader. The former AEW star said that Cena taught him that there is no such thing as a bad crowd:

“Just timing, take my time. There’s no such thing as a TV match and a live event match, like there’s no such thing as a bad crowd. If they’re not reacting, it’s because you’re not giving them what they want to see. Him listening, ‘Okay, is it a high pitch? Is it low-pitched? Who’s out there tonight? What’s the vibe?’\”

It\’s Got To Make Sense: Rusev

Rusev explained that working with John Cena helped him realize that not every match requires fast-paced action, and it\’s all about figuring out what the crowd wants:

\”He’s always there, watching and learning the crowd as much as everything else. Not everything has to be like [fast paced] it’s got to make sense, and it’s got to take your time and listen to the crowd. I think that’s the most important thing. Just listen to the crowd. They’ll tell you what to do.”

Apart from this, the former TNT Champion also opened up about the infamous Lana and Bobby Lashley storyline. He revealed how the story was originally pitched to him. You can check out his comments here.
