A potential injury at WWE tapings.

WWE taped this week’s SmackDown from Atlantic City, NJ, following the live episode of Raw to allow talents time off for the July 4 weekend.

The show opened with the new WWE Champion, Sami Zayn, celebrating his Night of Champions victory. Cody Rhodes came out to congratulate him. He was followed by Jey Uso, who had announced on Raw that he will be going after the Undisputed title.

After some back and forth, Sami told both the stars that they will need to get back in line for a title shot. The new show in charge Adam Pearce then came out, however, and announced that Sami will have to defend his title at the July 6 Raw from Chicago against the winner of a match between Uso and Rhodes.

The match was the main event of the show but it did not go as smoothly as expected. According to fans in attendance, Jey Uso seemed to have tweaked his ankle early in the bout during an outside dive and he was seen consulting with the referee over the injury.

The Bloodline star ultimately made the decision to continue the main event, but he was seen limping throughout. The two had a fast-paced match after this, going from spot to spot quickly. In the end, Cody picked up the victory with a Cross Rhodes.

The severity of Jey Uso’s injury is unknown at the moment. You can check out the full spoilers for the SmackDown episode here.
