John Cena is making things harder for other wrestler-turned-actors like Cody Rhodes.

The WWE quarterback recently invited the Billions showrunner Brian Koppelman on the latest episode of his podcast. They talked about things such as Becky Lynch redefining what it means to be a top star, watching Bruno Sammartino at Madison Square Garden, and more.

During the talk, Koppelman mentioned working with John Cena for an episode of The Bear and how he got firsthand experience of the work the Cenation Leader puts into everything. Cody Rhodes then explained that sometimes Cena’s work ethic makes things hard for people like him because the 17-time world champion sets the expectations so high for any wrestler who wants to follow his footsteps:

“You mentioned the one with John Cena. I honestly, I’m gonna be honest. John has made it a little difficult though. Because if you work with anyone in the Hollywood side of things, who’s like ‘Yeah, I worked with John’ [I go] ‘Ugh, ok. So I’ll be first on set by 40 minutes. I’ll have more improv ready. I’ll be last to leave. Like he is such an insane hard worker.”

The Undisputed WWE Champion also mentioned that Cena was very hard on him when he came back for his retirement run. Though Cody Rhodes said that he understands John wanted him to pass on the knowledge to the younger generation, which the Peacemaker star shared with The American Nightmare.

The former AEW star had a cameo in the 2025 The Naked Gun revival and he is also set to play the part of Guile in the upcoming Street Fighter movie.
