  • \’Dreams Becoming Reality\’: Zelina Vega on Winning Gold Same Day Husband Returned

For Zelina Vega, the April 25, 2025, episode of WWE SmackDown will always be remembered. Not only did she win the WWE Women\’s U.S. Title, her first taste of singles gold, but also witnessed her husband Alistar Black make his surprise return to the company after years away. Speaking to Steve Fall on Ten Cont, Vega gushed about the special night.

\”I\’ve had so many dreams of like \’It\’ll be so great to become champion, it\’ll be so great if he came back\’… and you always wake up from those dreams, but this one I didn\’t wake up from.\”

The surreal experience began before SmackDown when Vega learned of her impending title win. Even with mere hours between learning of her victory and the win itself, Vega was surprisingly subdued as she awaited her moment of glory.

\”I actually didn\’t know until maybe 3 hours before the show started. I wasn\’t nervous surprisingly. Normally I\’m always nervous… I get like hawks. I\’m very much a nervous person.\”

The reason for her calm? Her mind was elsewhere, namely with her husband.

\”My husband was coming back and I think I was so fixated on that, seeing him at work again and traveling with him again. I think my brain was just so focused on that that I didn\’t have time to get nervous.\”

The double celebration created what she describes as a dreamlike experience which Vegas added was \”mind-blowing.\” Now, the reunited couple is traveling together again, restoring their routines that were in place prior to Black\’s previous exit from WWE.

\”Even now still, sitting next to him on the plane, I\’m like \’You\’re really here right now? That\’s really a thing?\’ So I\’m still getting used to it, but in the best of ways.\”

As Vega settles into her role as champion and the couple reestablishes their travel routines, including their \”car ritual\” of listening to City and Color while driving between venues. With her title and her husband, Vega concluded that everything feels right in her world again—a perfect alignment of personal and professional dreams realized on a single, unforgettable night.

  • Lexis King Calls AEW A Developmental Ground for WWE

Lexis King has made an impact during his time with WWE NXT, and the former Brian Pillman Jr. isn\’t holding back about his former employer: AEW. On X, King hyped up his main event appearance on WWE Evolve, calling it a major moment for the brand.

While many were excited to see King in action, one fan made clear that they\’d be watching AEW Dynamite instead. While the fan mocked King for being on Evolve, calling it \”developmental for the developmental\” King had some choice words of his own.

While considered as WWE\’s developmental territory, WWE NXT is home to plenty of AEW alum. Alongside King, fans can watch NXT North American Champion Ricky Saints, Ethan Page, and Shawn Spears, all of whom were once \’All-Elite.\’

King is already a former NXT Heritage Cup holder, and winning a title is beyond what he accomplished in AEW. As fans wait and see what\’s next for King, the second-generation star is pleased to be out of the developmental for developmental for developmental.

  • Latest On CM Punk Possibly Competing in Saudi Arabia

CM Punk’s potential involvement in WWE Night of Champions in Saudi Arabia on June 28 is drawing attention given his previous criticisms of WWE\’s partnership with the kingdom. Punk has since shared that he doesn\’t hate Saudi Arabia, renewing the hopes of fans in the country wishing to see him live.

According to an update from Mike Johnson of PWInsider, while the card remains subject to change, he would \”certainly believe\” that Punk will appear at the upcoming Premium Live Event. Currently, no matches have been confirmed for Night of Champions, though title matches are expected at the upcoming event.

Punk\’s current stance on Saudi Arabia is a notable shift from his infamous 2020 jab at The Miz, where he said, “Go suck a blood money covered d** in Saudi Arabia you f*****g dork.” WWE has faced criticism for years for its partnership with Saudi Arabia which has proven to be one of the promotion\’s biggest money makers.

As for who Punk will face in his Saudi debut, time will tell, but all signs point to the Best in the World heading to Riyadh next month.

  • TNA President Carlos Silva Clarifies Stance After Alleged \’Blood Ban\’

TNA President Carlos Silva is setting the record straight regarding rumors of a ban on intentional blood in the promotion. Speaking to Sports Illustrated\’s The Takedown, Silva made clear that an outright ban on blading is not on the agenda.

“If creative or the talent feel intentional blood or heavy violence is earned for their story or the stakes of the match, it is ‘absolutely’ something TNA is open to exploring using.\”

Silva\’s comments come after reports of an outright ban on blading, following some gruesome matches in recent weeks. Over the past month, TNA fans have witnessed a barbed wire brawl between Sami Callihan and Mance Warner and a violent dog collar match featuring Steve Maclin and Eric Young.

Silva acknowledged that the promotion is being more mindful of advertiser preferences, he emphasized that no outright ban exists. Instead, talent has been encouraged to use blood more judiciously rather than eliminate it entirely. He added that Tommy Dreamer and other members of the creative team support the approach, aiming to make blood and violence more impactful by using them selectively.

Silva also addressed concerns related to batch tapings, noting that excessive blood can create logistical issues, such as stained canvases and potential safety risks for performers. For now though, an outright ban on blood isn\’t a thing in TNA, though it may become less common on screen.

  • Zelina Vega Ready to Take Women\’s U.S. Title Matches Outside WWE

Zelina Vega is the second-ever Women\’s United States Champion and is ready to take the gold outside of WWE. In a recent interview with Good Karma Wrestling, Vega shared her desire to defend the title away from the main roster and away from WWE entirely.

“I mean, I want to defend this title as much as I can. You know, we just had the merge with AAA. So, I mean, I’d love to take it out there. I’d love to wrestle Stephanie Vaquer there. You know, that’d be super dope. I’d love to take it to NXT, wrestle Giulia there… or I’d love to take it to, you know, Stardom and go and wrestle out there.\”

For Vega, her first taste of singles gold isn\’t just a win, but a testament to her develpment as a wrestler. After previous roles and characters in WWE, Vega is ready to be defined as a fighting champion.

\”You’ve seen Zelina as a manager, you’ve seen her as, you know, the singles competitor in the LWO version. There’ve been very different versions of me, but now seeing me as the United States Champion.\”

Vega is 2-0 since winning the gold but has yet to defend the championship. Time will tell who is the first Superstar to step up to the Women\’s U.S. Champion.

  • Dominik Mysterio Reveals Payday for Childhood WWE Appearance

Dominik Mysterio debuted in WWE when he was a child and was an integral part of Rey Mysterio and Eddie Guerrero\’s acclaimed feud in 2005. Speaking on the Intoxicados Podcast, Dominik shared the incredible pay he made for one appearance at the time.

\”I got paid, I\’ll tell you exactly how much I got paid. I got paid five grand. Five grand. That was just for one of the events.\”

Dominik\’s parents were often coy about his pay, the Judgment Day star added, often telling him that they were putting his earnings to the side. After badgering his \’deadbeat\’ elders, Dominik was told about his five-grand pay-day, resulting in a unique trip to Toys \’R\’ Us.

\”It totaled out to maybe $400, maybe $300, if that. As soon as we got home, I\’m like, \’Can we go to Target?\’ My mom goes, \’That\’s it. That\’s all your money.\’ It probably all went to my sister\’s college fund.\”

Today, Dominik is making big bucks as the WWE Intercontinental Champion and has become a popular Superstar despite his heel antics. With Toys \’R\’ Us re-opening stores in 2024, Dominik may get his $5,000 toy trip after all.

  • The Undertaker & Bubba Ray Dudley Appear On WWE NXT

WWE NXT saw a Hall of Fame presence during the May 13, episode as The Undertaker and Bubba Ray Dudley were a part of the show. During a backstage segment, the two legends of the ring were joined by the two female finalists of WWE LFG, Tyra Mae Steele and Zena Sterling. The four were joined by several members of the NXT Women\’s division who seemed unhappy.

There were tensions at the idea of either Steele or Sterling winning WWE LFG and earning an NXT contract. The concern among the roster is that either woman joining could put their own spots on the roster and on the card at risk.

Steele joins WWE after seeing success in freestyle wrestling, including capturing gold at the 2021 Summer Olympic Games in Tokyo, Japan. As for Sterling, she comes from a background in swimming and has been making headlines with her in-ring action and her outfits. Sterling\’s outfit was described as being akin to lingerie by Mickie James, sparking a debate about appropriate in-ring attire in an era of women\’s progression in wrestling.

Stay tuned to SEScoops for the latest on WWE LFG and to see which recruits earn themselves a place on the WWE NXT roster.

  • Talent Releases Inspire Heel Turn On WWE NXT

A significant heel turn took place on the May 13, edition of WWE NXT, a turn inspired in part by the recent talent releases that hit both NXT and the main roster. In a backstage segment, Taum Paxley was distraught when approached by Thea Hail and Karmen Petrovic and destroyed the dollhouse she previously loved. Paxley spoke about how those she is closest to always end up leaving her, a nod to the recent releases that saw Shotzi and Gigi Dolin cut from the company.

Paxley seemed to be jealous of the friendship Hail and Petrovic share, and this was all setting up a match between Paxley and Hail. Hail got the disqualification win as Paxley used a thumb to the eye when looked in Hail’s submission, and after the match, Paxley continued to claw at the face of Thea Hail. Referees tried to stop Tatum but she continued to attack Hail, cementing her heel turn.

While releases are rarely a good thing, it has led to a major character development for Tatum Paxley, and we’ll have to see if WWE can keep the momentum after this heel turn.

  • Dax Harwood Mocks \’Cooked\’ Generation of Wrestling Fans

The wrestling fandom of the modern-day is well and truly \’cooked\’ as far as FTR\’s Dax Harwood is concerned. On X, Dax shared a clip of his match from the May 8, edition of AEW Collision against Daniel Garcia. Noting the times that the fans were firmly opposed to Harwood, the former Tag Team Champion argued that \”this generation of wrestling fans is cooked.\”

Harwood and Cash Wheeler turned heel by attacking Cope at AEW Dynasty 2025, bringing an end to the popular Rated-FTR trio. Since then, the pair have picked up wins over teams including Kyle O\’Reilly & Roderick Strong, as well as Daddy Magic and Cool Hand Ang. Unfortunately for Harwood, it was Garcia who got the win in their singles encounter.

While FTR are now villains, there\’s plenty of fans ready to cheer the highly-talented duo. As for those booing Dax and Cash, they will have to remain \’cooked.\’

  • Jake Roberts Undergoes Heart Surgery

Jake “The Snake” Roberts has had more than his fair share of health issues and now the WWE Hall of Famer is recovering from major surgery. On Instagram, Jake\’s wife Cheryl revealed that Jake had heart ablation surgery on May 13, and asked fans to send prayers, good vibes, and well wishes. Cheryl shared a photo of a smile Jake before he went under the knife.

\”Jake’s going in for heart ablation surgery this morning. Calling all prayers warriors ?? good vibes, and well wishes are welcomed & appreciated.\”

Jake has faced several health issues over his life, including ones far extending the expected bumps and setbacks of being in the ring. For years, Jake battled with substance abuse and in 2014, was diagnosed with double pneumonia. Shortly after, Jake was raced to hospital after a cancerous tumor was found on his knee.

Despite his personal demons and health issues, Jake has fought back and is proud to be living a clean, sober life. Today, the idea of drinking disgusts the wrestling legend who is among those saved by the tireless work of Diamond Dallas Page.

We here at SEScoops are wishing Jake the absolute best on his surgery and his recovery.

  • Carlito: Logan Paul Has Earned The Right To Be Called A Wrestler

Logan Paul has impressed in the ring ever since his wrestling debut in 2022, and has earned the right to be called a wrestler according to Carlito. Speaking to TalkSport, Carlito explained his stance of support for the former United States Champion.

\”He can actually get in there and do some damage. I like when they come in and they actually take it seriously and then do great things.\”

Carlito is pleased that WWE is \”on a good streak\” when it comes to celebrities in the ring as Paul isn\’t the only impressive name competing. In recent years, talent such as Bad Bunny, Johnny Knoxville, and Pat McAfee have all shown they can handle the brutality of in-ring competition.

\”They’re not just there to be a celebrity of just get their face on WWE TV. They actually put the work in and they’ve done great work.\”

Carlito\’s comments echo those of Triple H, who believes Paul is much more than a celebrity wrestler. Speaking at the post-Backlash press conference, WWE\’s CCO argued that it was unfair for fans to see Paul as a celebrity first, instead of acknowledging his contributions to WWE.

Paul will challenge for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship at Saturday Night\’s Main Event against Jey Uso. It remains to be seen if the longest-reigning U.S. Champion of the past decade adds another title to his collection.

  • IYO SKY Is Enjoying Rhea Ripley Tag Team Despite World Title Conflict

Women\’s World Champion IYO SKY can\’t help but enjoy aligning with Rhea Ripley, despite \’Mami\’ having her eye on SKY\’s Women\’s World Championship. On the May 12, edition of WWE RAW, the champion and the woman she dethroned teamed up to earn a victory over Roxanne Perez and Giulia.

Taking to X, SKY said that Ripley had come back from Australia, where she\’d been promoting WWE Crown Jewel: Perth, to help her. SKY knows that she \”shouldn\’t let my guard down\” but can\’t help but enjoy teaming with Rhea Ripley.

SKY won the gold from Ripley in March 2025, disrupting Rhea\’s road to WrestleMania 41. Instead of walking in as champion, Ripley challenged for the gold alongside Bianca Belair but both came up short against SKY.

With Money in the Bank coming, SKY is wise to keep an eye out for any potential challengers. Nevertheless, stepping in the ring with Ripley as allies is proving to be enjoyable for the champ.

\”WWE has reached an agreement with WWC in Puerto Rico. Adam Pearce has authorized Carlito to be present in the island to settle unfinished business.\”

Carlito\’s time in WWC began as a cameraman in 1999 but it wouldn\’t be long before he became an in-ring competitor. In the company, he became the Puerto Rico Heavyweight Champion, a Carribean Heavyweight Champion, and a 17-time Universal Heavyweight Champion.

This marks Carlito’s first WWC appearance since the promotion’s 50th Anniversary Show in 2023, which occurred before he re-signed with WWE. Now fans will get to see the Cool Superstar return to his roots in Puerto Rico and show what he can do as part of WWC once more.

  • Fanatics\’ LinkedIn Post Seemingly Reveals Plans For WWE Evolution 2

Despite consistent reports and rumors, WWE hasn’t officially announced Evolution 2 yet, but it appears that Fanatics may have given away the show, as well as it’s location. According to a listing posted on LinkedIn on May 9th, the retail giant is looking to hire what’s described as a Retail Event Associate for a WWE event listed as Evolution in Atlanta.

This comes after reports that WWE was planning to host Evolution in Atlanta on July 12th in Atlanta, despite initial rumors saying the show would be on July 5th in Connecticut. During a recent Fightful Select Q&A, Sean Ross Sapp shared that talent have been kept in the dark about the show, raising questions about the fate of WWE\’s second all-women\’s event.

\”Evolution, it’s something I’ve been following up on a lot. Talent that I have talked to don’t know about it.\”

Charlotte Flair, who played a major role in the first all-women’s Evolution event, told Denise Sancedo that she hopes Evolution 2 happens, but admitted that “I really don’t know” about any plans.

While July 12th and Atlanta are likely to be the date and host of Evolution 2, nothing is confirmed until WWE says so, and time will tell when this long-awaited women’s event takes place.

  • Will Ospreay Wants to Help Run Historic Women\’s Wrestling Event

Will Ospreay has established himself as a bonafide star in he ring, but now he\’s ready to show what he can do as a promoter. Speaking to Grapple Theory, Ospreay shared his ambitious plans for Pro Wrestling: Eve, a British independent women\’s wrestling promotion.

\”I think the European largest gate for a women\’s show is held by Eve at 1,000 people. I want to break that record and I have the resources with AEW and Ring of Honor. I have the relationship with Stardom that I have and myself and Dan [Read, EVE co-founder] really want to collaborate.\”

While women\’s wrestling was once treated as little more than titilation in the west, massive strides have been made in recent years. Ospreay is thrilled that his plans for Pro Wrestling: EVE come at a time when women are treated much fairer with their male counterparts.

\”I think a lot of women\’s wrestling now is coming to the forefront and the women can do things just as good as the guys if you\’re giving them the time.\”

But who can fans expect at Pro Wrestling: EVE with Ospreay involved. The AEW star shared that he won\’t be afraid to pull some of the very best names from AEW and Ring of Honor to break the current European women\’s wrestling attendance record.

\”I\’ve got people like Willow Nightingale, Sky Blue, Queen Aminata, all saying like we would love to come over to Eve that the name is getting out there. So for me, this is about striking while the iron is hot.\”

Ospreay is ready to bring in some big names to Europe, while also showcasing some of the continent\’s top talent. Former NXT UK talent Nina Samuels from Aldershot, England is something Ospreay is hoping gets a bigger spotlight very soon.

\”Nina Samuels is head and shoulders above a lot of people in this scene and does not get her flowers. I honestly if I could sign anyone and it\’s not my missus, like I generally would sign Nina Sams in a heartbeat.\”

Ospreay\’s endorsement could help bring additional attention to these performers and the Pro Wrestling: EVE promotion as a whole. Fans will have to stay tuned and see if the Aerial Assassin can break the record and prove that his versitility in wrestling extends beyond the ring.

Kross didn\’t share specific details about the podcast’s content or launch date but his excitement was visible. The Raw Superstar was also grateful and shared his thanks \”to everybody who pushed me to do this. I’m really looking forward to it.\”

  • WWE Evolution 2 and SNME Set for AEW All Out Texas Weekend (Report)

WWE fans are in for a double-bill of action this July with two major events expected to take place on back-to-back days. PW Insider reports that the WWE is looking at hosting its Saturday Night\’s Main Event on July 12. The concept was brought back in December 2024, with four SNME shows expected each year.

Hosting WWE Evolution 2 on July 12 would put the show in head-to-head competition with AEW All In: Texas, the company\’s first stadium-sized event in the United States. With two events expected to go head-to-head, fans can expect stacked cards from both the AEW roster and the Superstars of WWE.

WWE is looking to host the long-rumored Evolution 2 on July 13, from Atlanta, Georgia, PW Insider adds. The all-female event would be WWE\’s second-ever event entirely dedicated to women\’s wrestling and follow on from 2018\’s WWE Evolution PLE. If both Saturday Night\’s Main Event and WWE Evolution 2 are booked for the same weekend, there\’ll be plenty of WWE action for fans to enjoy.

  • Pat McAfee Gives Health Update After GUNTHER Showdown

At WWE Backlash, Pat McAfee withstood all he could against GUNTHER before eventually passing out in the Austrian\’s sleeper hold. Though McAfee didn\’t win the match, he did earn the respect of GUNTHER, who offered a handshake after the match.

On his Pat McAfee Show, the Raw commentator gave an update on his condition.

\”Chest is burning, neck is hurting from holding my head up from whenever I was getting my ass beat, back is pretty sore, hips are not good either, both of my knees are very problematic. I was wondering why my hip flexors are so sore, now it makes sense, this guy was stretching it out there. Who knows about the bleeding that’s happening inside of me, but I guess I’ll find out. Popped a blood vessel in my left eye—when did that happen? Who knows, could have been anytime. That might have been the first chop. So I took a lot, gave some.\”

McAfee didn\’t win at Backlash, and his ordeal with the Ring General has left the commentator worse for wear. It remains to be seen when McAfee will return to screens but we imagine he\’s in no hurry to get back in the ring with GUNTHER.

  • Identities of Indie Talent Who Worked WWE Backlash 2025

WWE Backlash 2025 saw some of the biggest names in WWE today in action but also saw plenty of independent talent also make the show. During the main event, Randy Orton hit an RKO on several notable names, including Nick Aldis, Shane Helms, and Jamie Noble. Fans will have noticed an unfamiliar name among this cast of RKO recipients. As pointed out by the Local Competitor on X, this was Austin Mulitalo, an independent wrestler who is a graduate of Harley Race’s Wrestling Academy.

According to a report by Fightful Select, several independent wrestlers were present at the show including Nixi XS, Mike Outlaw, Moses The Deliverer, and Skylar Sparks. Those talents appeared during Backlash as medics while Campbell Meyer and Brandon Tolle were also in attendance.

Opportunities like this are important for independent wrestlers because they get valuable experience at a WWE event and gives them the chance to network with scouts and producers. With that in mind, time will tell if these indie talent go on to become WWE Superstars, as being at Backlash could definitely help their careers in a big way.

  • WWE Star Pushed For Sabu\’s Hall of Fame Induction Weeks Before Passing

The wrestling world is mourning the loss of Terry \’Sabu\’ Brunk who has died at the age of 60. While Sabu never held gold in WWE, there had been efforts for him to be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame prior to his passing.

On X, Sami Zayn shared that Sabu\’s death had been a gut-punch. The former Intercontinental Champion added that he had been pushing for Sabu to be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame just weeks ago following Sabu\’s retirement match. Zayn wrapped up his post with a series of praising compliments for the late wrestler.

Sabu was not inducted into WWE\’s Hall of Fame but is part of several similar groups. In 2009, he was inducted into the Hardcore Hall of Fame with a banner with his name being displayed in the ECW Arena. In 2024, Sabu took his place in the Indie Wrestling Hall of Fame.

Now, any induction into WWE\’s class of Hall of Famers will be posthumous. Our thoughts remain with those who knew Sabu best at this sad time.

  • Indi Hartwell Won\’t Count Out WWE Return, Says It\’s Not Her Goal

Indi Hartwell was cut from WWE in November 2024 and has wasted no time in capturing gold on the independent scene. Now, Hartwell is part of TNA Wrestling but isn\’t counting out a return to the Sports Entertainment juggernaut.

Speaking to Insight, Hartwell remained optimistic that a WWE return could come. With that said, she made it clear that she didn\’t sign with TNA just to try and work her way back to NXT.

\”It’s not my intention right now to sign with TNA so I can go back to NXT. I went to TNA because TNA is a company I grew up watching, and I’m genuinely a huge fan of TNA.\”

Hartwell is in TNA Wrestling for TNA, not for the promotion\’s ties to WWE. With that said, the young wrestler realizes that nothing is for certain and a return to WWE could happen.

\”I’m only 28. I do feel like there is a path back to WWE, someday. I’m not closing the door on that. All my friends are still there.\”

Hartwell is a former NXT Women\’s and Women\’s Tag Team Champion but didn\’t see similar success on the main roster. While Hartwell is hungry to hold gold in TNA, fans know to never say never when it comes to a potential WWE comeback.

On X, MJF posted a photo of his mother holding a sign that read, “This asshole forgot to wish me a happy Mother’s Day\” alongside a picture of the former AEW World Champion. MJF confirmed that he didn\’t wish his mom a happy Mother\’s Day but made clear this was no accident.

MJF hasn\’t shied away from bringing his personal life into his role as a professional wrestler. In 2022, MJF spoke pasionately about being bullied for being Jewish at school and for battling \”a litany of learning disabilities\” as well as ADD. This earned a much more positive response from his mom Nina to what the pair shared in 2025.

    https://twitter.com/FriedmanNina/status/1496867349642682369

On AEW TV, MJF has been trying to earn a place in the Hurt Syndicate, but it\’ll be up to Bobby Lashley to give him his final approval. While Nina has yet to way in on whether her son is Hurt Syndicate material, we know she won\’t be sending him a \’World\’s Best Son\’ card anytime soon.

  • WWE Files Trademark For Potential New Name For Jeff Cobb

Jeff Cobb has arrived in WWE, but he may not be Jeff Cobb for much longer. Despite being referred to as Cobb during his WWE debut at Backlash, a new name may be in the works for the NJPW/ROH alum.

On May 10, 2025, WWE filed for the trademark “JC MATEO” under the usual terms expected for a new moniker. The filing will allow for WWE to use the name at wrestling performances and other online content centered around the world of sports entertainment.

Fans on X, fka Twitter, are in belief that JC Mateo will be the new name for Jeff Cobb, with his original name now making his initials. During the post-Backlash show, Big E referred to WWE\’s newest Supserstar as \”a man once referred to as Jeff Cobb,\” further suggesting a new moniker is coming.

At this time, WWE has not confirmed the potential change and WWE.com\’s photo gallery is titled \”Jeff Cobb attacks LA Knight in shocking debut.\” It remains to be seen if the Cobb name is here to stay or if JC Mateo will be what Cobb is known by going forward.
