  • Rick Derringer, Creator of Hulk Hogan\’s Theme, Dead At 77

Rick Derringer, the legendary musician behind Hulk Hogan\’s iconic entrance theme \”Real American,\” has died at the age of 77. Note: Rick Derringer was 77, not the age stated in the original. Derringer\’s \”Real American\” became a defining anthem of the Hulkamania era and was prominently featured when the Hulkster returned to WWE in 2002.

Derringer\’s contributions to wrestling extended far beyond the theme song for the controversial WWE Hall of Famer. He co-wrote Demolition\’s entrance theme and served as a producer on both The Wrestling Album and Piledriver: The Wrestling Album II. His music helped define the soundtrack of 1980s wrestling for an entire generation of fans.

Beyond wrestling, Derringer enjoyed a distinguished music career that included more than a dozen studio albums as a solo artist. His 1973 debut All American Boy reached number 25 on the U.S. charts, showcasing his talent from the very beginning of his solo career. He collaborated with legendary artists including Steely Dan, Ringo Starr, and Cyndi Lauper—the latter of whom would also leave her mark on the world of professional wrestling.

The team at SEScoops extends our heartfelt condolences to Derringer\’s friends, family, and all who knew him during this difficult time.

WWE ID talent Freedom Ramsey has officially stepped away from the program and has confirmed the news in a video shared to social media. In the video, Ramsey confirms his exit and discussed how WWE ID changed his life.

“Hey, I just wanted to share something. I am no longer with WWE ID. This did not happen publicly. Some things are just meant to be handled behind closed doors.

\”WWE has always been a dream of mine. It changed me. Wrestling on WWE EVOLVE, training at the Performance Center, just meeting everybody I used to see on TV. Like I learned, I grew, I developed.”

While his time with WWE ID is over, this isn\’t the end of the road for Ramsey. Instead, he plans on accomplishing big things, just outside of WWE\’s talent development program.

“Now a new chapter begins, and I’m not sure what that looks like yet, but I’m gonna come into it with the same hunger that I did when I started professional wrestling.”

Ramsey signed off by thanking his fans for their support and declaring that \”This journey is far from over.\” While Ramsey won\’t be on the card for the WWE ID Showcase on June 8, his future remains very bright.

  • NJPW Tamashii Launches Tag Team Titles with July Tournament

New tag team championships are coming to New Japan Pro Wrestling\’s Tamashii brand, which is based in the Oceania region.

The inaugural champions will be crowned in a one-night tournament at Tamashii: Cold War, taking place Friday, July 4, at the Mangere Arts Centre in Auckland, New Zealand. In a statement, NJPW hyped up the upcoming event.

  • Unique Stipulations Added to Money in the Bank Title Match

The Women\’s Intercontinental Championship will be on the line at Money in the Bank, but the match will have much more than the title at stake. On the May 26, edition of WWE Raw, champion Lyra Valkyria was confronted by Becky Lynch and the stakes were raised for the upcoming PLE.

During a promo segment, Valkyria addressed the audience before being interrupted by Lynch, who took a personal jab at Valkyria\’s fiancé. Lynch referenced their previous encounter, noting that after Valkyria defeated her for the NXT Title, she raised Valkyria\’s hand in respect. Lynch then proposed that if she wins at Money in the Bank, Valkyria must reciprocate by raising her hand in victory.

Valkyria responded confidently, stating she has no issue raising the winner\’s hand, adding that she hasn\’t had to do so for Lynch yet. However, it was added that if Lynch doesn\’t win, then she can\’t challenge for the Women\’s Intercontinental Title as long as Valkyria holds the gold.

This added stipulation intensifies the personal rivalry between the two, setting the stage for a compelling match at Money in the Bank.

  • Kairi Sane Breaks Unfortunate Streak On WWE Raw

On the May 26, edition of WWE Raw, Kairi Sane defeated Liv Morgan in what was Morgan\’s comeback match after a handful of weeks away. Sane rolled up Morgan while the referee was busy dealing with a confrontation outside of the ring between Raquel Rodriguez and Roxanne Perez.

Morgan\’s return didn\’t go as she\’d planned but this was a huge victory for Sane. The match marked her first singles victory on WWE programming in close to five years. Her previous win in singles action on WWE TV had come on the July 29, 2020 edition of the red brand, where Sane beat Bayley.

Sane has only had nine singles matches since returning to WWE in 2023, and only three have occurred on WWE television. In addition to these matches, she has scored wins dark matches ahead of WWE SmackDown and on WWE Speed.

El Patron is scheduled to defend his title against Vikingo at an AAA taping on May 31, one week before Worlds Collide. Many have taken this graphic as a spoiler that Vikingo will win the title from the controversial ex-Superstar.

  • Latest On Asuka Amid Lengthy WWE Injury

Asuka hasn’t stepped into a WWE ring since May 2024, and it appears her return is not on the immediate horizon. Despite ongoing fan speculation about her return to action, the former Women’s Champion remains sidelined due to injury.

According to Fightful Select, Asuka was never seriously considered for WrestleMania 41, despite fan speculation of a return in time for the event. The show saw Asuka\’s Damage CTRL ally IYO SKY retain the WWE Women\’s World Championship during the show\’s second night.

While WWE’s creative team reportedly discussed possible return plans for Asuka earlier this year, those conversations came as a surprise internally, since she was nowhere near being cleared at the time. There has been no confirmed update on her recovery timeline as WWE appears to be waiting until Asuka is fully cleared before crafting her return storyline.

Asuka is a decorated champion both in and out of WWE but there\’s no word on when the veteran will return to the ring. In the meantime, fans eagerly anticipate her comeback.

  • Stephanie McMahon Recalls Plans For WWE-Brand Tattoo

Stephanie McMahon\’s name is synonymous with WWE but she wanted to make her connection even more permanent on her skin. On a recent edition of her What’s Your Story? podcast, Stephanie shared how she was ready to prove her WWE loyalty during her younger years.

“When I was younger, I wanted a tattoo and I was going to get the WWF logo. Thank God I didn’t do that. I’d be like a walking billboard if I had all the different logos that have evolved over time. I’m tatted on the inside.”

While McMahon didn\’t get the tattoo, the idea of inking her body did not entirely vanish as she grew older. She explained that during the COVID-19 pandemic, she considered getting a tattoo to symbolize her three daughters. However, concerns about how her body might react to the ink ultimately stopped her from comitting to the idea.

Several wrestlers have iconic tattoos, from CM Punk\’s Pepsi ink to The Rock\’s Brahma Bull. As for McMahon, she remains ink-free but her connection to WWE has never been in question.

  • Jim Ross Details Stone Cold\’s Support After Cancer Diagnosis

Jim Ross is sadly battling cancer once again, this time in his colon, in the latest health concern for the legendary commentator. The pro wrestling world showed Ross a ton of support and now Ross has explained how Steve Austin supported him in a big way. On his Grilling JR podcast, JR discussed speaking with \’Stone Cold\’ over the phone after his diagnosis.

\”When we got off the phone, I looked at my phone and we’d talked for 43 minutes. Forty-three minutes. And here’s what your friends do: they call you, they talk to you, and at the end of the conversation, they tell you they love you. And that’s what Steve did.\”

Ross didn\’t disclose the entire context of their 43-minute conversation, but shared that Austin reassured him that he would beat cancer. The words from the iconic wrestler meant plenty to the man who had called so many of his matches.

\”\’Just ride it out. Tough it out.’ I said, ‘I’m going to put my uniform on and go play, and give the doctors and nurses everything they want.\”

For Ross, Austin’s phone call wasn’t just a kind gesture—it was a reminder of enduring friendship, and a source of strength during a difficult time. We at SEScoops are continuing to wish Mr. Ross the absolute best in this battle with cancer.

  • Backstage Response to Jesse Ventura\’s WWE SNME Rant

Jesse \’The Body\’ Ventura made his return to WWE as part of the latest Saturday Night\’s Main Event, adding a nostalgic edge to the show. Ventura called the action for the steel cage match between Damian Priest and Drew McIntyre though his commentary caught a lot of attention.

Ventura spoke over Lilian Garcia while the ring announcer was explaining the rules of the contest. Fightful Select reports that Ventura was supposed to remain quiet like the rest of the announce team during this part of the show, though that didn\’t happen.

The WWE Hall of Famer should have paid attention, as he would have learned that victory in a cage match can come via pin, submission, or by escaping the cage. When Damian Priest chose the latter method to win, it earned the anger of Ventura.

\”Wait a minute, how do you win going out the door? I thought you had to go over the top! What kind of BS is that? He can walk out the door?!\”

Fightful Select adds that there was a lot of laughs backstage at Ventura\’s rant but no-one was upset. With Ventura expected at more Saturday Night\’s Main Event shows, fans can expect plenty more of the Body on the mic.

  • Shotzi Rejects Fan\’s \’Injury Prone\’ Label After WWE Exit

Shotzi Blackheart missed much of her final year in WWE due to an injury, but has rejected the notion that she is \’injury prone.\’ On X, a fan praised Shotzi\’s work but argued that her WWE run was limited because she\’s injury prone. That caught the attention of the ex-Superstar who argued that she\’s not been injured often enough to be seen as \’prone\’ to setbacks.

Shotzi suffered a torn ACL injury in February 2024 which would keep her out of action until December of that same year. She was released in May 2025 alongside NXT ally Gigi Dolin and other Superstars. Now, Shotzi is ready to re-establish herself in the ring and prove that one ACL injury doesn\’t make a wrestler \’injury prone.\’

TNA Wrestling also shared a recap of Williams\’ historic win on the promotion\’s website:

\”History was made at WWE Battleground when Joe Hendry put the TNA World Championship on the line against Trick Williams, marking the first time the TNA World Title was defended on a WWE PLE.

\”An epic back-and-forth contest saw Williams put Hendry through the announce table at ringside. Williams connected with the Trick Shot but it wasn’t enough to keep Hendry down.

\”Later in the match, Hendry went for the Standing Ovation but Williams countered, sending him face-first into the TNA Word Title belt. Williams would follow up with another Trick Shot to win the match and capture the TNA World Championship.

\”Trick Williams becomes the first active WWE Superstar to win the TNA World Title.\”

Williams\’ win stunned fans in attendance, including TNA President Carlos Silva. The TNA head was shown in the crowd after the match and appeared far from pleased with an NXT talent holding TNA gold.

Williams has been appearing for both WWE NXT and TNA Wrestling, a sign of the immsense faith both companies have in him. Now, expect to see much more of Trick after his historic title victory.

  • Tony Khan Vows Victory In Head-to-Head Battles With WWE

AEW has been competing with WWE for several years, and the two promotions have often gone head-to-head in the battle for ratings. On July 12, the battle will take place again as AEW All In: Texas will face off with Saturday Night\’s Main Event.

Speaking during the post-AEW Double or Nothing 2025 media scrum, Khan was asked about WWE and other companies placing events near or directly opposite AEW\’s scheduled shows. Khan likened it to WWE\’s scheduling battles of the past but believes that the Sports Entertainment juggernaut won\’t emerge victorious this time.

“It’s pretty consistent. I’d say it’s the most event head-to-head scheduling since Jim Crockett Promotions. So a lot of scheduling, they went that way, and I can tell you this will go a lot differently than that did.”

This statement follows WWE’s decision to schedule Saturday Night’s Main Event for July 12—the same day AEW will hold All In: Texas at Globe Life Field in Arlington. WWE also ran NXT Battleground directly opposite AEW’s Double or Nothing pay-per-view this week.

As WWE continues to position itself in direct competition, Khan remains unfazed and confident in AEW’s ability to stand strong.

  • Mercedes Moné: AEW Women’s Title Win Will Start My Revolution

Mercedes Moné has won the Owen Hart Foundation Women’s Tournament, earning the “CEO” a shot at AEW Women’s World Champion Toni Storm. Speaking at the Double or Nothing 2025 post-show media scrum, Moné projected confidence heading into their high-profile title clash at All In.

“I’m ready to dethrone the ‘Timeless’ one, and we’re gonna go onto the revolution of Mercedes Moné.”

Though Moné is confident, she made it clear that she doesn\’t take Storm lightly. In fact, Moné revealed that Storm was a key influence in her decision to sign with AEW in 2024.

“She’s legit one of the reasons why I came to AEW. She put AEW on storm for me. I couldn’t stop watching every single week because of her.”

Currently, Moné holds the AEW TBS Championship, the RevPro British Women’s Championship, and now the Owen Hart Foundation Women’s Championship. Although she recently lost the NJPW Strong Women’s Title to AZM, Moné is aiming to claim even more gold.

Come All In on July 12 at Globe Life Field, Moné has her sights set on adding the AEW Women’s World Championship to her collection, aiming to become the first woman in AEW to hold both top women\’s titles simultaneously.

  • Hangman Page: The AEW World Title Shouldn\’t Be Hidden

\”Hangman\” Adam Page is heading to AEW All In: Texas with a shot at the AEW World Championship firmly in his sights. At AEW Double or Nothing 2025, Page defeated Will Ospreay to win the Owen Hart Foundation Men’s Tournament, earning a title opportunity against Jon Moxley.

During the Double or Nothing post-show media scrum, Page spoke about the significance of All In being AEW’s first stadium-sized event in the United States.

“It’s a testament that this is successful. I’m not from somewhere else, I wasn’t established somewhere else, I’m homegrown… That is a testament that All Elite Wrestling has been a huge, gigantic success.”

Page now hopes to reclaim the AEW World Championship—a title fans haven’t seen in months. Since winning the belt in 2024, Jon Moxley has kept it sealed in a briefcase, a move Page is determined to undo.

“For so long, the world champion that I’ve had my eyes set on from the very first Double or Nothing has been hidden in a briefcase. It should be a shining light to the world and a testament to what All Elite Wrestling is and what it’s about.”

Page ended his remarks with a declaration: he intends to “be the one to take it out” of the briefcase at All In on July 12. However, standing in his way is Jon Moxley and the formidable Death Riders.

  • Mercedes Moné Hits One Year As Champion, Wins Owen Hart Tournament

Mercedes Moné has reached a major milestone in her wrestling career, marking one full year as AEW TBS Champion. Moné originally captured the title at AEW Double or Nothing 2024 on May 26, defeating Willow Nightingale in her debut match for the promotion.

Over the past year, Moné has successfully defended the title 17 times, with victories over top AEW talent including Kris Statlander, Hikaru Shida, Britt Baker, Stephanie Vaquer, Anna Jay, and others. She remains undefeated in singles competition within AEW, and this reign marks the longest championship run of her career. Moné’s accolades also include singles and tag team title reigns in WWE, as well as championships in New Japan Pro-Wrestling and RevPro.

Now, the “CEO” has her sights set on even more gold. At Double or Nothing 2025, Moné won the Women’s Owen Hart Foundation Tournament. Along with the championship, she also earned the right to challenge for the AEW Women’s World Championship. No woman in AEW history has ever held both the TBS and Women’s World Championships at the same time, but Moné is poised to become the first.

  • Hangman Page Wins Owen Hart Tournament, Will Face Jon Moxley at All In

Jon Moxley has an opponent for the AEW World Championship at All In, and he’s a Cowboy. The 2025 Double or Nothing event took place at Desert Diamond Arena in Glendale, Arizona. The show featured several major moments, including the crowning of a new Owen Hart Tournament winner in the main event between Page and Will Ospreay. The pair trade offense until Hangman Page landed his finisher and secured the pinfall, surprising the crowd as his music played to close out Double or Nothing.

Page will now challenge Jon Moxley for the AEW World Title at All In. The cowboy last held the AEW World Championship in 2022 before losing the gold to CM Punk in their infamous feud that saw both men take personal shots at one another. Moxley is in his fourth reign as AEW World Champion and has held the gold since vanquishing Bryan Danielson at AEW WrestleDream in October 2024.

Page is the fourth man to win the Owen Hart Foundation Men\’s Tournament. He follows past winners including Adam Cole in 2022, Ricky Starks in 2023, and Bryan Danielson in 2024 during his final AEW run. Now, Page, who is also a former AEW World Tag Team Champion, has another accolade to his career.

AEW All In is scheduled for July 12, 2025, at Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas. Fans can look forward to a major World Title match deep in the heart of Texas.

During the GLORY 3: Live Stream Kickoff on ROW’s official YouTube channel, Booker and Brad Gilmore spoke about Natalya possibly joining ROW with Booker hinting that something is coming.

“I was just having a conversation just yesterday… I don’t want to give away too many secrets. We keep everything real close to the vest, you know what I mean?”

Gilmore noted that there was a recent report stating that Natalya has expressed interest in competing in a Reality of Wrestling ring. Booker responded by saying he could easily see it happen.

“Let’s just explore. Let’s use that word… I can see Natalya stepping into Reality of Wrestling and making a huge, huge impact.”

Booker’s no stranger to pulling surprises at ROW with several NXT Superstars having appeared for the promotion. Whether it’s a guest appearance, a training session, or something more long-term, Natalya is more than welcome in a ROW ring.

  • JBL Fires Back At Viral Video Targeting Wrestling Legends

WWE Hall of Famer John \”Bradshaw\” Layfield has fired back at a video circulating on X (formerly Twitter) that many believe was designed to mock or embarrass retired wrestling legends. The video, captioned “It’s sad to see wrestling legends like this,” features clips of former wrestlers—beginning with Dean Malenko using a scooter for mobility and including footage of Marty Jannetty struggling to walk at a convention.

The video continues with shots of several retired performers signing autographs and greeting fans at a convention. Its tone has been criticized for suggesting that these wrestlers are somehow pitiful—either due to their physical condition or for simply participating in fan events.

In a passionate response, JBL stood up for his fellow legends:

\”This is life. We did what we love, we continue to. Because we love wrestling. These guys are legends, legends are worthy of respect-they are hobbling cause they went out every night and performed, hurt or not.

\”We don’t ask for pity, we also don’t ask for some dips**t to make videos of us to get clicks. We love our business and we bear the scars. These are my friends, f**k you.\”

The video sparked widespread backlash, with many wrestling fans and personalities echoing JBL’s sentiment. While these athletes may no longer be active in the ring, the respect they command remains strong. For JBL and many others, their appearances at conventions represent not decline, but dedication—to the fans, to the craft, and to the legacy of professional wrestling.

  • Leilani Kai On Long-Awaited WWE Return: \’All I Ever Wanted\’

WWE Saturday Night\’s Main Event saw several legends in attendance, adding to the nostalgic tone of the special event. Among those in attendance was Leilani Kai, marking her return to WWE after decades away. On X, Kai shared a photo of herself from the event, declaring that being part of a WWE production event was all she\’d ever wanted.

Kai certainly deserves the title of \’WWE Legend,\’ as she was part of the very first WrestleMania in March 1985. During her time with the promotion, she would hold the WWF Women\’s Championship once an was a two-time holder of the original WWF Women\’s Tag Team Championships. • Kurt Angle & The Sandman Trade Barbs Over Infamous ECW Segment

Kurt Angle has share the ring with countless opponents, but now the Olympian is beefing with The Sandman on social media. Though this is a new conflict, the issues between the two date back to 1996 when Angle appeared at an ECW taping. That same taping saw Raven infamously crucify The Sandman, resulting in Kurt walking out and threatening to sue ECW if he was used on the show.

In an interview clip recently shared online, The Sandman called Angle a \”p***y\” for walking out in offense of the crucifixion segment. This caught the attention of Angle, who in the comments declared \”If Sandman has a problem with me then do something about it. You p***y.\”

    https://media.sescoops.com/uploads/2025/05/\"https://media.sescoops.com/uploads/2025/05/\"

While Sandman believes Angle was wrong to walk out, ECW did backtrack on the crucifixion. In a character-breaking moment, ECW had Raven apologize for the use of religious symbology that many may have found was in poor taste.

Nearly three decades later, the crucifixion remains an iconic, infamous part of ECW, even with The Sandman and Kurt Angle having very opposing views on the matter.

Cody Rhodes made an emphatic return at Saturday Night\’s Main Event, and wasted no time in confronting his nemesis John Cena.

During the show\’s main event, Jey Uso defended the World Heavyweight Championship against Logan Paul. When it appeared that Jey had the match won, Cena emerged and took out the referee. John proceeded to attack Jey, a follow-up from their earlier backstage segment in which John said Paul winning the gold would \’ruin wrestling.\’

Cena\’s attack was cut short by the returning Rhodes in his first appearance since WrestleMania 41. With Rhodes neutralizing the \’Unseen Seventeen,\’ Jey was able to score the win on Paul after a Spear.
