  • Drake’s OVO Brand Teases WWE Collaboration

WWE and Drake\’s OVO (October\’s Very Own) brand appear to be joining forces for an upcoming collaboration, based on a teaser image released Monday.

The promotional graphic features the WWE Championship suspended between ring ropes, positioned above both the WWE logo and OVO\’s signature owl emblem. The date \’12.19.25\’ indicates that full details will be revealed this Friday, December 19.

The nature of the collaboration remains unclear, though OVO is primarily known for its streetwear apparel and accessories. A merchandise partnership featuring WWE-branded clothing with OVO\’s distinctive aesthetic would be a logical direction, following the brand\’s established playbook of sports partnerships.

    Drake\’s Growing WWE Connection

The potential collaboration comes after Drake attended WWE Elimination Chamber in his hometown of Toronto on March 1, 2025. The rapper sat front row behind the commentary desk alongside Lil Yachty and NAV, though WWE notably did not highlight him on camera as they did with other celebrities in attendance, including Travis Scott, who played a prominent role in the show\’s main event angle before his WWE involvement fell apart.

Despite WWE\’s broadcast silence, Drake received an in-ring acknowledgment from Logan Paul, who grabbed a marker during the main event Elimination Chamber match and wrote \’OVO\’ on his pod glass as a tribute to the rapper. Drake later posted on Instagram with the caption \’I\’m sold,\’ alongside Lil Yachty, who replied \’Nothing better than the WWE.\’

Drake has also publicly expressed his admiration for WWE talent, particularly Rhea Ripley. In a September 2025 podcast appearance, Drake revealed that his social media feed \’is just all Rhea Ripley,\’ calling the former Women\’s World Champion his \’muse.\’

    OVO\’s Strategic Collaboration Streak

The WWE partnership would continue OVO\’s aggressive expansion into sports and entertainment collaborations. The brand has previously partnered with the NFL, NBA, WNBA, UFC, NCAA, NHL, Chelsea FC, Disney, Marvel, Red Bull Racing, and Canada Goose, among others.

Most recently, OVO released a Marvel collaboration on December 12 featuring characters including Venom, Wolverine, Ghost Rider, and Doctor Doom—a collection that fans believe is tied to Drake\’s long-teased \’ICEMAN\’ album rollout, referencing the X-Men hero Bobby Drake (Iceman).

OVO has also partnered with Chelsea FC and rapper Central Cee, expanded its Canadian university collection to include five U Sports football programs, and continued its annual NFL and MLB capsule releases.

    WWE\’s Celebrity Strategy Under TKO

WWE has increasingly pursued crossover partnerships with mainstream fashion and entertainment brands under the TKO Group Holdings umbrella, positioning its intellectual property for broader cultural relevance. The company recently announced a strategic partnership with Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment that includes merchandise collaborations, while also expanding into designer collectibles and multi-year brand deals.

A merchandise collaboration with OVO would align with WWE\’s strategy of reaching audiences beyond traditional wrestling fans, particularly in the streetwear and hip-hop communities where both brands command significant influence.

More information is expected when the collaboration officially launches on Friday, December 19. The announcement comes during a particularly busy period for WWE, with SmackDown airing from Grand Rapids, Michigan that same evening.

  • JD McDonagh Undergoes Wrist Surgery

WWE Raw Superstar JD McDonagh announced on Monday that he is undergoing surgery for a wrist injury that has plagued him for months.

The Judgment Day member shared the news via his Instagram Stories, posting a photo from his hospital bed while giving a thumbs-up to fans ahead of the procedure.

\”Been working thru some stuff for the last few months, but now is the time to pump the brakes and get put back together,\” McDonagh wrote. \”Won\’t be long, BRB.\”

    https://media.sescoops.com/uploads/2025/12/\"JD

What\’s Next for JD After Surgery

The surgery marks McDonagh\’s second significant medical procedure of 2025. In January, the Irish star suffered broken ribs and a punctured lung during a World Tag Team Championship match against The War Raiders when a moonsault attempt went wrong. He missed three months before returning on the Raw after WrestleMania 41.

Since his return, McDonagh has remained active in Judgment Day storylines and recaptured the World Tag Team Championship with Finn Bálor in June before losing the titles to AJ Styles and Dragon Lee in October.

McDonagh\’s absence could create further tension within The Judgment Day, where he often serves as peacemaker between Bálor and Dominik Mysterio.

No official timeline for his return has been announced.

  • Saraya Details Inappropriate Fan Encounter at Chicago Signing, Criticizes Security Response

Saraya revealed that a male fan slapped her buttocks three times during a recent autograph signing in Chicago, and criticized security for failing to intervene in the moment. Speaking on the December 4 episode of her Rulebreakers podcast, the former AEW Women’s World Champion shared her frustration while discussing a broader pattern of fans crossing boundaries with female performers.

The conversation arose while Saraya and her guests were discussing Ariana Grande being accosted by a fan at the Wicked: For Good premiere.

“Lately, I feel there’s been an influx of certain fans feeling way too comfortable to be grabbing on females,” Saraya said. “Just this past weekend in Chicago, a fan decided he wanted to slap my ass three times in a row because he thought it was funny, and security didn’t do a f**king thing.”

Security only approached her after the incident had occurred.

“They ended up coming up to me afterwards and were like, ‘Do you want us to escort him out?’ But it was already nearly done. It was just like—it’s too late in the day.”

She was eventually assigned a dedicated security guard for the remainder of the event.

“They did give me a security guard in the end and he was great, which is fine, but the fans are getting way too comfortable,” she said.

    Not the First Incident

Saraya noted this was her second inappropriate fan encounter in 2025. “This is the second time this year a fan has touched me, tried to kiss me, and slap my ass,” she said, adding that while most fans are respectful, a recurring minority creates unsafe situations. “Nine times out of 10, all the fans are great, but you always get at least one per signing that gets a little too comfortable, a little too handsy, or thinks they have this parasocial relationship with you. But I feel like it’s happening to everyone.”

The 33-year-old’s comments add to a growing list of wrestlers speaking out about fan boundary issues in 2025. Rhea Ripley described a “scary experience” being mobbed by fans in Paris, CM Punk has addressed multiple fan incidents, Liv Morgan dealt with a stalker who was arrested at her home, and AJ Lee called out a fan who created an AI-generated video depicting them kissing.

Saraya has been a free agent since departing AEW in March 2025 and has not wrestled since October 2024. She recently revealed plans to resume in-ring training in January 2026.

  • AEW Dynasty 2026 Heads to Vancouver, First PPV in Western Canada

All Elite Wrestling will bring its Dynasty pay-per-view to Vancouver’s Rogers Arena on Sunday, April 12, 2026, marking the company’s first major PPV event in Western Canada.

Dynasty 2026 continues AEW’s commitment to expanding its Canadian presence. The promotion has previously held two PPVs in Canada—Forbidden Door 2023 in Toronto and All Out 2025 at Scotiabank Arena—but this will be the first time a major AEW event airs from west of Ontario.

AEW first brought live programming to Vancouver in May 2024 when the company filmed its weekly Collision show at Rogers Arena, part of a broader Canadian expansion that included stops in Quebec City, Ottawa, and London, Ontario.

Tickets for AEW Dynasty 2026 go on sale Monday, December 22 at 10:00 AM PT.

    AEW Dynasty History

Dynasty was established in 2024 and is held annually in April. The inaugural Dynasty took place at Chaifetz Arena in St. Louis, where Swerve Strickland defeated Samoa Joe to become AEW World Champion in a critically acclaimed main event. The 2025 edition moved to the Liacouras Center in Philadelphia, with Jon Moxley successfully defending the AEW World Championship against Swerve Strickland.

  • Jeff Jarrett Mocks John Cena vs. Gunther Finish at Saturday Night\’s Main Event

Jeff Jarrett doesn\’t seemed thrilled with WWE\’s booking decision to have John Cena tap out in his final match.

Shortly after Gunther defeated Cena via submission at Saturday Night\’s Main Event on December 13, the AEW star and WWE Hall of Famer posted a sarcastic message on social media.

    https://x.com/realjeffjarrett/status/2000073989474165154

Jarrett wrote: \”Love watching movies when the superhero gets destroyed in the final scene and then dies. Even better is when my favorite sports team not only gets beat but gives up with a smile on their face. Makes me feel good about spending time/money on the night. Creative is subjective.\”

When Conrad Thompson of Podcast Heat compared the finish to The Undertaker\’s WrestleMania streak ending and asked for opinions, Jarrett simply responded: \”Lol.\”

The comments come just days after Jarrett criticized WWE\’s direction under TKO in an interview with Adventure Gamers. He stated that CEO Ari Emanuel \”answers to Wall Street\” while Vince McMahon \”answered to the wrestling audience.\”

Cena\’s submission loss to Gunther drew a mixed reaction from the Capital One Arena crowd, with fans chanting \”bullshit\” following the finish. The 17-time world champion ended his legendary 23-year in-ring career surrounded by WWE legends and the locker room in an emotional post-match tribute.

  • WWE Raw Tonight (December 15, 2025): Cena Fallout, CM Punk Returns, Gunther Addresses Career-Ending Victory

Live from the GIANT Center in Hershey, Pennsylvania

Monday Night Raw heads to the sweetest place on Earth for the fallout from Saturday Night’s Main Event, where John Cena tapped out to Gunther in his final match, closing a legendary 26-year career. With Cena’s farewell tour officially complete, Raw now turns its attention toward 2026 and the Royal Rumble in Saudi Arabia.

CM Punk makes his long-awaited return, Gunther addresses the WWE Universe after ending Cena’s career, and two championships are on the line in what promises to be an eventful evening.

General Manager Adam Pearce announced the updated lineup on Sunday: “The man who will forever be known as the one to make John Cena give up, Der Ring General Gunther will be live on the flagship.”

    Updated Card

    • World Heavyweight Champion CM Punk returns
    • Gunther to appear following his victory over John Cena
    • Women’s World Championship: Stephanie Vaquer (c) vs. Raquel Rodriguez
    • Women’s Intercontinental Championship: Maxxine Dupri (c) vs. Ivy Nile
    • The New Day (Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods) vs. The Usos (Jey Uso and Jimmy Uso)
    • Rey Mysterio vs. Logan Paul

    Gunther Addresses His Career-Defining Victory

Gunther made history at Saturday Night’s Main Event by forcing John Cena to submit in his final match. The Ring General now carries the distinction of being the man who ended Cena’s legendary career. Tonight marks his first appearance since that victory, and he’s expected to stake his claim as the standard-bearer of WWE moving forward.

With CM Punk holding the World Heavyweight Championship and both men appearing on the same show, the question becomes whether Gunther sets his sights on the title heading into Royal Rumble season.

CM Punk Returns to Address Bron Breakker and the Masked Man

CM Punk has been absent from WWE programming since Survivor Series, where he was attacked by the masked man. The World Heavyweight Champion returns to Raw for the first time since that assault, with plenty to address.

Sources have identified the man under the mask as former WWE United States Champion Austin Theory, though WWE has yet to officially reveal the identity on television. During Punk’s absence, WWE scheduled him for a title defense against Bron Breakker on the January 6, 2026 episode of Raw.

Breakker has delivered two scathing promos directed at Punk during the champion’s absence, and the Best in the World is expected to fire back. The question remains: will the masked man strike again, or will Punk finally get some answers about who has been targeting him?

Women’s World Championship: Stephanie Vaquer (c) vs. Raquel Rodriguez

Added to Monday’s card, Stephanie Vaquer will defend her Women’s World Championship against Raquel Rodriguez. Vaquer has established herself as one of WWE’s premier international signings, while Rodriguez brings size and power that could pose problems for the champion.

A Rodriguez victory would mark a major shift in the women’s division heading into 2026. Speculation continues about potential challengers for the title, with names like Giulia being linked to the Women’s World Championship picture in recent weeks.

Women’s Intercontinental Championship: Maxxine Dupri (c) vs. Ivy Nile

Maxxine Dupri will make her first defense of the Women’s Intercontinental Championship against American Made’s Ivy Nile. Nile boasts a 3-0 record over Dupri, making her a worthy first contender. But Dupri has developed a new aggression built in the famous Hart Family Dungeon with Natalya Neidhart.

The Creed Brothers returned to television last week alongside Ivy, adding an intimidating presence to her corner. The big question is whether Natalya will accompany her protege to ringside to even the odds.

The Usos vs. The New Day

Last week, Jimmy and Jey Uso announced on Monday Night Raw that The Usos are officially back as a team and rejoining the tag team division. Jimmy went on a rant about how often they were each racking up losses, then declared they were putting the tag division on notice.

The Usos and The New Day share a storied history, having produced some of the most acclaimed tag-team matches in modern WWE. With AJ Styles and Dragon Lee as current World Tag Team Champions, the winner of this match could position themselves for a future title opportunity.

    Rey Mysterio vs. Logan Paul

After their backstage altercation, Logan Paul decided to answer the thudding slap by Rey Mysterio, attacking the Hall of Famer last week with a little help from the masked man from Survivor Series.

This grudge match has been building for weeks. Rey slapped Logan after Paul claimed he would retire him, and the situation escalated when Logan attacked Mysterio with assistance from the mysterious hooded figure. Rey has made it clear he’s willing to fight every member of The Vision if that’s what it takes to reach his ultimate goal of challenging his son Dominik for the Intercontinental Championship.

    Segments to Watch

Saturday Night’s Main Event Fallout: The emotional aftermath of John Cena’s farewell will likely be addressed, as CM Punk and Cody Rhodes placed their respective World Heavyweight Championship and Undisputed WWE Championship belts on Cena’s shoulders in a touching tribute after his loss.

Drew McIntyre Chaos: Drew McIntyre stormed the ring during Cody Rhodes’ match against Oba Femi at Saturday Night’s Main Event, forcing the referee to call for the bell. McIntyre later claimed he attacked Rhodes because he wanted to ruin Cody’s final chance to impress Cena. While McIntyre is primarily a SmackDown talent currently dealing with suspension issues, the fallout from his actions could spill over to Raw.

The Vision’s Dominance: Bron Breakker, Logan Paul, and Bronson Reed brutally attacked LA Knight last week, with Reed landing a Tsunami through a car roof. Knight is likely sidelined, leaving the babyface roster searching for cohesion against the dominant heel faction.

Bayley’s Direction: After losing to NXT’s Sol Ruca at Saturday Night’s Main Event, Bayley finds herself at a crossroads. She’s been teaming with Lyra Valkyria with eyes on the Women’s Tag Team Championships, but WWE has yet to give her a compelling direction.

    Looking Ahead

    • CM Punk vs. Bron Breakker for the World Heavyweight Championship is set for January 6, 2026
    • The road to Royal Rumble 2026 in Saudi Arabia officially beginsThe Usos have their sights set on the World Tag Team Championships held by AJ Styles and Dragon Lee.
    • The mystery of the masked man continues to loom

WWE Raw airs Monday at 8 PM ET on Netflix from the GIANT Center in Hershey, Pennsylvania.

  • Gunther, Second Women’s Title Match Set for WWE Raw

WWE has added two items to Monday’s lineup:

Gunther to appear — Fresh off making John Cena tap out at Saturday Night’s Main Event, Der Ring General will be on the show. GM Adam Pearce hyped him as “the man who will forever be known as the one to make John Cena give up.” That’s a career-defining talking point WWE is clearly leaning into hard.

Women’s World Championship: Stephanie Vaquer (c) vs. Raquel Rodriguez — Vaquer puts her title on the line against the powerhouse challenger. This gives Raw a second women’s title match alongside Maxxine Dupri vs. Ivy Nile for the Women’s Intercontinental Championship.

Two title matches and a Gunther promo opportunity makes for a stacked show heading into the holidays.

The December 15, 2025 WWE Raw will also see the return of World Heavyweight champion CM Punk, Rey Mysterio vs Logan Paul and The New Day vs The Uso’s.

  • Pittsburgh News Reporter Pays Tribute to John Cena by Working Catchphrases Into Weather Report

Pittsburgh television reporter Ed DiOrio found a creative way to honor John Cena on the day of his final WWE match.

DiOrio, who serves as the Westmoreland County Reporter for WTAE-TV (Pittsburgh’s Action News 4), incorporated Cena’s signature catchphrases into his live weather report during a Weather Alert Day broadcast this weekend.

    https://x.com/eddiedtv/status/2000268858775494892

The tribute aired the same weekend that Cena wrestled his retirement match against Gunther at Saturday Night’s Main Event in Washington, D.C. The 17-time World Champion’s legendary 23-year WWE career came to an end when he tapped out to Gunther’s sleeper hold after a hard-fought 24-minute contest.

Cena’s iconic phrases, including “You Can’t See Me,” “The Champ Is Here,” “Never Give Up,” and “Hustle, Loyalty, Respect,” have become part of mainstream pop culture over his two-decade run as the face of WWE.

The reporter’s tribute reflects the widespread outpouring of appreciation for Cena as fans, fellow wrestlers, and celebrities honored the WWE legend throughout his farewell tour.

  • Bayley Reveals Emergency Ring Gear Story From Saturday Night\’s Main Event

Bayley\’s ring gear at Saturday Night\’s Main Event almost didn\’t happen.

The WWE veteran faced Sol Ruca at the December 13 event in Washington, D.C., wearing black and red attire that paid tribute to John Cena\’s debut gear from 2002. However, the outfit required a last-minute miracle to come together.

    https://x.com/itsBayleyWWE/status/2000244355479847338

\”My original gear got stuck in some bad weather, so I text our seamstress team Friday morning asking for a miracle,\” Bayley wrote on social media Sunday. \”Lori here MADE THIS GEAR FOR ME IN 24 HOURS. I gave her the colors and she got to work. That is a TRUE superstar. Thank you @nogimmickgear!!! #NeverGiveUp\”

Lori Gassie of No Gimmick Gear crafted the complete custom outfit overnight, allowing Bayley to honor Cena on the night of his final match. Cena wore red and black trunks when he debuted against Kurt Angle on June 27, 2002 — the night he declared he possessed \”ruthless aggression.\”

Bayley ultimately lost to Sol Ruca via roll-up in approximately eight minutes. The NXT star hit her Sol Snatcher finisher before countering Bayley\’s desperation roll-up attempt to secure the upset victory. Post-match, both competitors showed mutual respect alongside their respective partners Lyra Valkyria and Zaria.

  • Cody Rhodes and Nikki Bella Brave the Cold at Lincoln Financial Field for Eagles Game

WWE Champion Cody Rhodes returned to Lincoln Financial Field on Sunday, though this time he traded his wrestling boots for winter gear as he and Nikki Bella took in the Philadelphia Eagles\’ matchup against the Las Vegas Raiders.

The official NFL account posted a video on social media showing Rhodes and Bella on the field before kickoff, both bundled up against the frigid 27-degree temperatures in Philadelphia.

The American Nightmare showed off his Eagles fandom with an enthusiastic \”Go Birds!\” while Bella chimed in with the signature \”Fly Eagles Fly\” chant.

The Eagles gave their celebrity guests plenty to cheer about early, jumping out to a 6-0 lead over the Raiders in the first quarter.

Lincoln Financial Field holds special significance for Rhodes, of course. The stadium hosted WrestleMania 40 in April, where Cody completed his two-year quest to capture the WWE Championship by defeating Roman Reigns in the main event.

That victory represented the culmination of one of wrestling\’s most compelling storylines, as Rhodes finally \”finished his story\” after falling short against Reigns at WrestleMania 39 the year prior.

Bella, a two-time Divas Champion and WWE Hall of Famer, continues to maintain her connection to the wrestling world through various media ventures alongside her twin sister Brie.

  • R-Truth Comments on Retirement: \”This Could Be the Last One\”

R-Truth addressed his future in wrestling during Saturday Night\’s Main Event, acknowledging that his current WWE contract could be his final run with the company.

\”I always like to say, I steal this from The Rock, I let pain in my body be my guide as far as when it\’s time for me to go,\” R-Truth said. \”Right now, I still feel good — I\’ve thought about it. As you know, I just renewed my deal, so it\’s like… this could be the last one. We all have to have that time. We all have to get off the ride at some point.\”

    R-Truth\’s WWE Return

The 53-year-old veteran signed a special new WWE contract in June 2025 following a brief release that sparked massive fan outcry (rightfully so).

R-Truth returned at Money in the Bank just days after announcing his departure, with the new deal described as allowing him \”one true final run\” rather than a standard active talent contract.

R-Truth appeared at Saturday Night\’s Main Event on December 13 dressed as \”Ron Cena,\” delivering a heartfelt rap tribute before John Cena\’s final match. He later teamed with Joe Hendry to confront The Miz.

With 28 years in professional wrestling, R-Truth holds an impressive résumé including being the first African-American NWA World Heavyweight Champion, a two-time WWE United States Champion, and the record holder for WWE 24/7 Championship reigns at 54.

    Now that\’s \”What\’s Up!\”

  • Leila Grey Wins Fitness Competition One Week After Tearing ACL

AEW and Ring of Honor star Leila Grey has announced she suffered a torn ACL during her recent match with Mercedes Moné at ROH Final Battle 2025, but that didn\’t stop her from achieving a major milestone in her fitness career.

Grey revealed on social media that despite the devastating injury occurring just one week before her debut WBFF competition, she refused to withdraw. The determined competitor strapped up her knee brace and took the stage anyway, ultimately winning first place and earning her WBFF Pro status as a Fitness Diva.

\”For those that may not know, I tore my ACL last week in my match with Mercedes,\” Grey wrote. \”I\’ll be going into surgery and will be out of commission for a while. This couldn\’t have happened at a worse time.\”

Grey explained that the injury affected her championship match opportunity while also threatening to derail the fitness competition she had spent the past year preparing for. When others expected her to drop out, she chose a different path.

\”People expected me to drop out, but honey, there\’s no quit in me,\” she declared. \”I\’m a boss ass baddie, and I always get the job done.\”

At ROH Final Battle 2025, Grey competed on the pre-show against Mercedes Moné for the ROH Women\’s Television Championship, where the injury occurred. Despite the setback, Grey remained focused on her fitness competition debut, which she called one of the most significant investments of her life over the past year.

The injury occurs at around the 40-second mark of this video clip:

    Expected Time Away from Wrestling

Grey will now require ACL surgery and faces a lengthy recovery period that will keep her away from in-ring competition. ACL injuries typically require 6-9 months of rehabilitation before athletes can return to full activity.

The 27-year-old has been with AEW and ROH since 2022 and recently made headlines in March 2025 when she married fellow professional wrestler Luke Kurtis.

SEScoops wishes Leila Grey a quick and speedy recovery.

  • Mark Henry Reveals Emotional Backstage Scene After John Cena\’s Final WWE Match

Following John Cena\’s final WWE match at Saturday Night\’s Main Event on December 13, WWE Hall of Famer Mark Henry provided a firsthand account of what happened backstage after the 16-time world champion said goodbye to in-ring competition.

Cena lost to Gunther via submission in a 24-minute main event at the Capital One Arena in Washington, D.C., marking his first tap-out loss in 20 years. Speaking on Busted Open Radio, Henry described an emotional scene behind the curtain.

\”I walked through the back to do this broadcast and there was a line of about 30 or 40 people to get to John, hugging and consoling him,\” Henry said. \”We gave the salute and I kept going and came up here, but like, people were emotional. The last time I saw people crying emotional like that was… somebody passed away.\”

    What\’s Next for John Cena

Henry was quick to note that while Cena\’s wrestling career has ended, his presence in entertainment will continue.

\”John is still alive and well. He\’s going to Hollywood and he\’s going to make some incredible films. You\’re gonna keep hearing him every day on all the commercials and ad spaces that he does. He\’s not going away. He\’s just going away from the ring.\”

Cena\’s 26-year wrestling career concluded with the entire WWE roster coming to the ring for a farewell ceremony, with CM Punk and Cody Rhodes placing their championship belts on his shoulders as a final tribute.

  • Two Championship Matches Set for AEW Worlds End 2025

AEW has confirmed that Samoa Joe will defend the AEW World Championship in a three-way match against Swerve Strickland and Hangman Adam Page at Worlds End on December 27.

The championship bout was officially announced during AEW Collision Winter is Coming. Page declared his intentions to challenge the champion on Dynamite earlier in the week, while Strickland staked his claim following a victory over Josh Alexander on Collision.

Joe captured the title from Page in a brutal steel cage match at Full Gear on November 22, with Hook revealing himself as a member of The Opps by attacking Page with the championship belt. The pay-per-view ended with Swerve making a surprise return, clearing the ring of The Opps, and standing alongside his longtime rival Page to confront the new champion.

The three competitors previously collided at AEW Revolution 2024, where Joe retained by forcing Page to submit to the Coquina Clutch while Swerve was unable to make the save.

    Women’s World Championship Match

Additionally, Kris Statlander will defend the AEW Women’s World Championship against Jamie Hayter at Worlds End. The match was set after the two teamed up on Collision to defeat the Sisters of Sin, with Hayter issuing the challenge backstage.

Statlander has held the title since All Out in September and has successfully defended against Toni Storm and Mercedes Mone. Hayter is a former Women’s Champion, having held the title from Full Gear 2022 to Double or Nothing 2023.

Updated card for AEW Worlds End 2025

    • AEW World Championship: Samoa Joe (c) vs. Swerve Strickland vs. Hangman Adam Page
    • AEW Women’s World Championship: Kris Statlander (c) vs. Jamie Hayter
    • Continental Classic Semifinals

    Saturday Night\’s Main Event Results

WWE Champion Cody Rhodes defeats NXT Champion Oba Femi by disqualification when Drew McIntyre interfered and attacked Cody

The opening minutes saw both competitors feeling each other out before Femi seized control with a devastating Irish Curse backbreaker. When Cody attempted a slam after being launched across the ring, he couldn’t muster the strength, allowing Femi to continue his assault.

The tide turned when Cody sidestepped a charging Femi, sending him crashing into the ring post. A Cody Cutter followed, though Femi kicked out. Rhodes used his quickness to mount offense, but Femi halted his momentum with a thunderous spinebuster. The action spilled outside where Femi launched Cody over the announce desk with a vicious uppercut, leaving the champion bleeding near his ear.

Cody battled back with a top-rope cutter, but again Femi survived. Drew McIntyre then stormed the ring and attacked Cody, triggering a disqualification. When Femi shoved McIntyre down, Cody connected with a cutter before Femi planted the Scotsman with a chokeslam. With the ring cleared, Cody raised Femi’s hand as the two held each other’s championships aloft.

Sol Ruca defeated Bayley by pinfall.

The finish came when Bayley attempted a victory roll for a near fall, but Sol Ruca reversed it for the pinfall victory. After the match, Sol offered her hand and Bayley shook it, with everyone raising their hands in the ring.

Bayley nearly won when she countered the Sol Snatcher with a Rose Plant, but she rolled up Ruca too far, allowing the NXT standout to get her foot on the ropes. The finish came quickly after that — Sol got her knees up to counter a big elbow attempt from Bayley, hit the Sol Snatcher on her second attempt, and then countered a Bayley pin with a rollup of her own for the victory.

AJ Styles & Dragon Lee (c) defeated Je’Von Evans & Leon Slater

Evans and Slater went right after Styles and Lee with superkicks, followed by dives to the outside. Back in the ring, Evans went for an early victory with a frog splash, but Lee kicked out. Lee came back with a sit-down powerbomb and tagged out to Styles.

After all four men battled on the outside, Lee was sent into the ring post. Back in the ring, Evans hit the OG Cutter on Styles, and Slater delivered a Swanton 450, but Lee was able to break up the pin attempt.

After Lee took out Evans on the outside with a dive, Styles went for the Phenomenal Forearm but slipped on the top rope. Slater came off the top rope, but Styles caught him and delivered the Styles Clash to pick up the win.

All four men did John Cena’s salute after the match.

Gunther defeated John Cena via submission in Cena’s final match

During his entrance, Cena embraced several wrestlers at ringside, including Trish Stratus, Sami Zayn, Rob Van Dam, Kurt Angle, Mark Henry, Booker T, Elias, and Kevin Owens.

Gunther gained the early advantage, drawing chants of “asshole” and “f*ck you, Gunther” from the crowd. After a few minutes, Cena was able to build momentum with his signature offense. However, when Cena went for the AA, Gunther countered with a German suplex. Cena came back with the STF, but Gunther escaped.

Gunther regained the advantage with a powerbomb. He then took down Cena with multiple lariats, prompting the crowd to start a “Super Cena” chant. Cena mounted a comeback with another series of signature moves, followed by the AA, but Gunther kicked out.

After the fight spilled to the outside, Gunther set up the steel steps by the announce desk. Gunther went for a powerbomb, but Cena countered with an AA through the table. Cena got Gunther back in the ring and went for a cover, but Gunther kicked out.

Cena delivered a top-rope leg drop, but Gunther kicked out again. Cena led the crowd in one last “You Can’t See Me,” but Gunther popped up with a big boot. Gunther delivered a powerbomb, but Cena kicked out. Gunther then went up top, but Cena caught him and delivered a Super AA—yet Gunther kicked out once again.

After they traded blows, Gunther hit another powerbomb followed by a frog splash, but Cena was still able to kick out. Gunther applied another sleeper, and Cena kept trying to fight out but began to lose strength. Cena momentarily escaped, but Gunther reapplied the sleeper. Cena escaped again and hit another AA, but Gunther once again kicked out. Gunther immediately applied the sleeper again. The crowd chanted “Don’t give up” as Cena’s hand dropped twice but stayed up on the third attempt. However, Gunther reapplied the sleeper once again, and Cena finally tapped out.

End of an era. John Cena goes out putting over Gunther in his final match, tapping out to the sleeper hold. Thank you, Cena.

  • Wrestling World Pays Tribute to John Cena Ahead of His Final Match

Hours before John Cena steps into the ring for the final time at Saturday Night\’s Main Event in Washington, D.C., the wrestling world has united to honor the 17-time World Champion. His peers, rivals, and friends have flooded social media with heartfelt messages celebrating a career that has defined professional wrestling for over two decades.

WWE broadcaster Michael Cole says it’s been the honor of a lifetime calling Cena’s matches.

The Undertaker delivered perhaps the most poignant tribute, revealing what he told Cena 23 years ago after his WWE debut. \”\’Nice job!\’ Those were the words I said to you 23 years ago when you debuted. Now, on the day of your final match, I say again…nice job,\” The Deadman wrote. \”Hustle, loyalty, and respect is more than just a catch phrase. For 23 years you have lived by those words. Your passion for our business and dedication to our fan base is unmatched. To have shared the ring with you and have been a part of your journey has been an honor. As your in ring career winds down, be proud of the body of work and the memories you\’ve created. Enjoy the last ride tonight my friend and one final time…nice job.\”

The Rock paid homage to his one-time rival, declaring, “John Cena, you are the GOAT. Go have f*cking fun, and tear that house down.”

Triple H, WWE\’s Chief Content Officer, reflected on their long history together: \”So many incredible in-ring moments over the last 20+ years…let\’s make the final one tonight!\”

Cody Rhodes, the current Undisputed WWE Champion who defeated Cena at WrestleMania 41 earlier this year, shared a photo of himself with Cena alongside the hashtag #ThankYouCena.

Ric Flair seems to have forgiven Cena for surpassing his former record of 16 world title reigns. Flair reveals that Vince McMahon prevented Cena from hanging out with Flair on the road. “.@JohnCena, You Have Represented The WWE, Our Business, Our Brand. Congratulations On A Phenomenal Retirement! Good Luck Tonight Man! I Will Make Sure The World Is Watching, Well At Least In Tampa! Please Know That You’re One Of A Kind, And It Will Be Light Years Before Anyone Replaces You. Even Though Vince Put An End To Us Hanging Out Together On The Road, You Will Be A Hero To A Lot Of Us Forever! Kick Ass & Never Look Back! WOOOOO!”

Becky Lynch posted a playful tribute highlighting their shared status as all-time greats: \”The Greatest to Ever Do It (ME!!! Sports Illustrated, Bleacher Report says it) and THE GREATEST OF ALL TIME (YOU!!! EVERYONE SAYS IT). THANK YOU!\”

Kurt Angle referenced their famous 2002 exchange that launched Cena\’s career. \”Who in the hell are you? I\’m John Cena,\” he began, before adding: \”From his unforgettable moments in the ring to his inspiring presence outside of it, John Cena has truly left an indelible mark on the world of sports entertainment. I am proud to have been part of his journey, and what a ride it has been for him. His dedication, resilience, and passion have inspired countless fans and peers alike. As he embarks on his well-deserved retirement, I wish him all the best in the next chapter of his life. Enjoy your last ride, John….a legend forever. Welcome to retirement, my friend.\”

Paul Heyman also joined the tributes, as did Booker T, who wrote: \”Tonight, we pay tribute to one of the greatest performers ever inside the ring—and one of the biggest superstars this business has ever seen outside of it. Tonight, we celebrate hustle, loyalty, and respect. We salute a man whose legacy defines an era and whose impact will last forever. One of the very best to ever lace up a pair of boots… John Cena.\”

Stu Bennett (Wade Barrett), Cena\’s former Nexus rival turned WWE commentator, shared his appreciation while \”counting down the hours until what will be a historic night for our industry.\”

Frankie Kazarian offered a unique perspective, having trained alongside Cena at the very beginning: \”It was my honor and privilege to be a part of the beginning of John Cena\’s journey in 2001. Be it training with, wrestling against, road trips, or just becoming friends. His work ethic was always second to none. His attitude his best asset.\”

Andrade, Damian Priest, and Uncle Howdy also added their voices to the chorus of appreciation.

Tonight at Capital One Arena, Cena faces Gunther in what will be the final chapter of an in-ring career that produced 17 world championships, countless iconic moments, and a legacy that transcends professional wrestling. The outpouring of respect from across the industry proves that even those who battled against Cena recognize what he\’s meant to the business.

The time is now—for the last time.

  • Lash Legend Defeats Alexa Bliss on SmackDown: WWE\’s Big Plans for the Rising Star

Lash Legend just etched her name into WWE main roster history. On the December 12 episode of SmackDown, the powerhouse former basketball star dismantled Alexa Bliss with her signature Lash Extension, securing the biggest victory of her career in dominant fashion.

The win wasn\’t just a highlight-reel moment—it was a statement. Legend, now aligned with the imposing Nia Jax, absorbed Bliss\’s mind games and wicked right hands before hoisting her up for the spine-shattering finisher. The crowd erupted as Legend stood tall, looking every bit the future champion and proving she\’s no longer just NXT\’s best-kept secret.

Post-Match Heat: Collision Course with Rhea Ripley and Iyo Sky?

The momentum didn\’t stop at the bell. Backstage, Legend and Jax locked eyes with Rhea Ripley and Iyo Sky, the duo eyeing the WWE Women\’s Tag Team Championships. Ripley made her intentions clear, warning that when she and Sky decide to come for those titles, there won\’t be a fight—just a takeover.

This tense standoff plants seeds for explosive feuds. With Jax\’s brute force and Legend\’s raw athleticism, the pair could dominate the tag division—setting up dream clashes against Judgment Day\’s powerhouse tandem or other top teams.

From Hardwood to Hard-Hitting: Legend\’s Rapid Rise

Lash Legend, real name Anriel Howard, brings legit sports pedigree to the squared circle. The 6-foot-1 powerhouse dominated at Mississippi State and Texas A&M before signing with WWE in 2021. She cut her teeth on NXT\’s talk show format, evolved through feuds with Roxanne Perez and Fallon Henley, and recently made the jump to SmackDown with immediate impact.

WWE\’s booking screams investment: a clean win over an established name like Bliss signals big things ahead. As Big E noted when Legend was called up, \”It\’s about damn time\” for the athletic powerhouse to prove herself on the main roster. Paired with Jax, Legend\’s on track to challenge elites like Bayley, Naomi, or even Ripley in singles action.

What\’s Next for WWE\’s Next Monster Heel?

This victory catapults Legend into the upper echelon. Expect WWE to book her aggressively—perhaps a multi-woman tag at the next premium live event or a high-stakes singles push. Her athletic explosiveness, combined with improving psychology, makes her a nightmare matchup for anyone.

SmackDown\’s women\’s division just got a lot more dangerous. Lash Legend isn\’t arriving—she\’s conquering.

  • AEW Dark Returns for One-Night-Only Holiday Special in Cardiff

Tony Khan made a surprise in-person announcement ahead of AEW Collision\’s Cardiff taping, revealing that AEW Dark will return for a special one-night-only event during the holiday season.

The show, which hasn\’t aired since 2023, received special approval from Warner Bros. Discovery executives after Khan personally pitched the idea. The AEW President cited his love for Cardiff\’s passionate fanbase as the driving force behind the revival.

\”Because I love Cardiff so much, I went to the great executives at Warner Brothers Discovery… I want to bring back, for one night only, AEW Dark!\” Khan told the crowd.

AEW Dark served as a staple untelevised program featuring rising talent and additional matches for hardcore fans before going on hiatus. The special holiday edition is expected to feature some of wrestling\’s biggest stars in the Dark format.

The announcement underscores AEW\’s continued commitment to international expansion, particularly in the UK market. Cardiff has emerged as a key city for the promotion\’s global growth strategy, and the one-off event could signal more special shows tailored specifically for international audiences in the future.

  • Kendal Grey Reveals Full Circle Moment When John Cena Selected Her for Iron Survivor

NXT Women\’s Iron Survivor Kendal Grey experienced what she described as a \”full circle moment\” when she learned John Cena had personally selected her to compete in the 2025 Iron Survivor Challenge at NXT Deadline.

Speaking on Busted Open with WWE Hall of Famer Bully Ray, the EVOLVE Women\’s Champion opened up about the surreal experience of going from a childhood Cena fan to being handpicked by the 17-time world champion for one of NXT\’s most prestigious matches.

\”It was like speechless. Like what, first off when I knew that John Cena was talking about me and watching my work, it was like scary but also like validating,\” Grey said.

\”Like I am working hard and people are seeing that and it\’s like a full circle moment because my dad and I and my older brother like used to watch WWE. My dad actually took us to some Smackdown events. I have a picture when I was like 8 years old with a \’you can\’t see me\’ chain.\”

Grey continued, emphasizing the magnitude of going from fan to selected competitor:

\”So knowing that I went from the kid that used to watch John Cena to having John Cena pick me to be in the Iron Survivor match was like a full circle moment and it\’s just insane to even think about.\”

What John Cena Sees in Kendal Grey

When asked what she believes Cena saw in her that led to the selection, Grey demonstrated remarkable self-awareness about her unique qualities as a performer.

\”I would like to say that he sees like my grittiness and I am a smaller girl and I think no one would expect the amount of aggression, intensity, and grittiness that I have that I bring in the ring,\” she explained.

\”And I think that hopefully he\’s seen that over the last couple, you know, matches I\’ve had on NXT or on Evolve and he sees like, \’Wow, this girl has it.\’ Like she has something that she can bring to the table.\”

Grey\’s belief in herself proved well-founded as she won the Women\’s Iron Survivor Challenge with just two seconds remaining, securing a title match against NXT Women\’s Champion Jacy Jayne at New Year\’s Evil on January 6.

  • The Hard Truth that Defined John Cena\’s WWE Career: \’Everyone Is Replaceable\’

John Cena embraced an uncomfortable truth throughout his 23-year WWE career – one that he believes every wrestler needs to accept.

Appearing on The Pat McAfee Show before his final match against Gunther at Saturday Night\’s Main Event, Cena shared the harsh reality that has shaped his approach to professional wrestling.

\”I\’m here on borrowed time. I got defensively signed in Orange County because of the WCW/WWF wars. I was retained in OVW because I could be an entertaining personality to help the talent more prosperous than me fall down,\” Cena explained.

\”They kept me around in WWE when I made my debut and failed with ruthless aggression. I\’m used to or I\’ve known what it\’s like to walk that razor\’s edge to face my mortality. And I\’ve also a tried and true lesson that I have learned through this business through mentorship and actual the business unfolding in front of my eyes is everyone is replaceable. Everyone.\”

That perspective has helped Cena prepare for life after wrestling—and he emphasized that his career doesn\’t define his entire identity.

\”When you ask me if I\’m set for the next chapter in my life without this thing that\’s been important to me for 23 years, my answer is yes. Because this is something that I do, but it doesn\’t define me as a human being.

I am John Cena, WWE superstar, until the bell rings at the end of the match tomorrow night. And then my role changes, but I\’m still alive. I can still find curiosity in life. I can still hopefully aspire to do good things and earn a good life and feel fulfilled.\”

    Childlike Curiosity

Rather than dwelling on what he\’ll lose when his wrestling career ends, Cena is focused on what he\’ll gain: the freedom to explore new interests without the pressure of his WWE responsibilities.

\”I just want to always keep a childlike imagination and curiosity. And as long as that happens, I\’m square, man. It also doesn\’t need to be monetized.\”

Cena faces Gunther, who says Cena is the GOAT of sports entertainment but not wrestling, in his final WWE match on December 13 at Saturday Night\’s Main Event in Washington, D.C. Cena has confirmed the bout will main event the show.

  • WWE SmackDown Returning to 3-Hour Format Starting January 2

SmackDown will expand to a three-hour broadcast beginning January 2, 2026 on the USA Network. The announcement was made by Michael Cole during Friday\’s episode of SmackDown.

The show has operated as a two-hour broadcast in recent months after reverting from three hours earlier this year. Reports had emerged in November that this change was coming.

The expansion appears driven by USA Network\’s reliance on WWE as its premiere ratings performer.

With no other programming on the network capable of drawing comparable viewership, the additional hour allows USA to maximize advertising revenue from its strongest asset. The format change reflects WWE\’s growing global ambitions, including plans for the company\’s first-ever Italy PLE in May 2026.
