Liv Morgan’s ‘Bad Lieutenant: Tokyo’ Gets September 2026 Release Date

Liv Morgan’s film Bad Lieutenant: Tokyo is slated for release in September 2026. The WWE superstar filmed the movie in Japan in May 2025. She is currently challenging Stephanie Vaquer for the WWE Women’s World Championship at WrestleMania 42.

In an interview with Director’s Cut Radio, Morgan said the role will show audiences a side of her they’ve never seen before.

“I have something on the way. Bad Lieutenant I filmed in Japan last year. It’s going to hit theaters in September. I was very excited about the project. I learned a lot and I feel better after the fact having the experience.

I was lucky to be in the room with all of these incredibly talented veterans of the film industry and the WB audience is gonna see me in a way that I think perhaps they never thought they’d see me, so I’d tune in.”

Principal photography for Bad Lieutenant: Tokyo took place in Tokyo. The film is directed by Takashi Miike, written by Daisuke Tengan, and stars Shun Oguri, Lily James, and Liv Morgan. Morgan plays the missing daughter of a politician, whose disappearance triggers the central investigation. The film is slated for theatrical release in September 2026.

  • CM Punk: “I can’t pretend that I’m better than Eddie Guerrero.”

CM Punk: “I can’t pretend that I’m better than Eddie Guerrero.”

During a recent game of “Stay silent until you hear a wrestler better than you,” CM Punk didn’t utter a word when hearing names like Roman Reigns, Seth Rollins, Bron Breakker, Brock Lesnar, John Cena, The Rock, Triple H, or Shawn Michaels.

When Eddie Guerrero’s name came up, he cracked. After letting out a loud groan, Punk paid homage to Guerrero’s greatness.

“I can’t pretend that I’m better than Eddie Guerrero.”

The moment was a rare display of humility from The Best in the World. Punk and Guerrero share a history that goes back to the independent wrestling circuit, before Punk’s big break in WWE. In March 2002, a young CM Punk crossed paths with Guerrero at an IWA Mid-South event, competing in a memorable triple threat match alongside a pre-WWE Rey Mysterio. Guerrero ultimately won with his iconic Frog Splash, and thus began their mentor-mentee relationship.

Punk has repeatedly credited Guerrero with teaching him invaluable lessons about ring psychology, match structure, and the craft of professional wrestling — lessons he carried all the way to the top of WWE.

Eddie Guerrero, who captured the WWE Championship at No Way Out 2004 in one of the most emotionally charged title wins in company history, remains one of the most impactful performers of this century: a master technician, storyteller, and entertainer whose “Latino Heat” persona transcended the sport.

CM Punk is scheduled to retain the WWE World Heavyweight Championship against Roman Reigns in the main event of WrestleMania 42.

Front Office Sports CEO Adam White added that the sports media landscape is increasingly driven by off-the-field happenings, and the deal will bring fans closer to their favorite athletes and entertainers in a unique way.

Dallas Edwards: OVW Ref Recovering Back at Home

Dallas Edwards, the Ohio Valley Wrestling referee who suffered a seizure during a match earlier this month, is back home continuing his recovery.

The incident occurred on Thursday, March 12, 2026, at Davis Arena in Louisville, Kentucky. Edwards suffered a concussion and subdural hematoma.

Edwards was injured after taking a flying forearm during a Four Corners of Chaos match. He hit the mat hard and appeared to have a seizure, but the match continued briefly.

Edwards released a statement on social media on Friday, March 13, 2026, confirming that he suffered a concussion and a subdural hematoma and would be taking time away to recover.

    OVW to Review Safety Protocols

Al Snow released a statement on Saturday, March 14, 2026, stating that OVW will review and update in-ring and ringside safety protocols. These updates will include enhanced communication systems, additional referee training, and expanded ringside response measures.

According to Edwards, he suffered “that he suffered a concussion and a subdural hematoma and would be taking some time away to get his health and life back in order.”

Edwards was expected to go home after a morning CT scan on Saturday. As of March 17, 2026, he is recovering at home. No further updates have been released.

  • Rey Mysterio Updates Fractured Ribs, Eyes WrestleMania 42 Return

Rey Mysterio Updates Fractured Ribs, Eyes WrestleMania 42 Return

Rey Mysterio has broken his silence on the full extent of his injury, confirming he fractured ribs on both sides of his body during a January episode of WWE Raw — and then competed in the Royal Rumble anyway.

Speaking at a WWE community event in the leadup to WrestleMania 42, Mysterio opened up to Adrian Hernandez of the Unlikely podcast about where things stand.

“Much better than when it actually happened,” Mysterio said. “That injury occurred on January 26, which was the Monday leading into the Rumble. Fractured ribs — both left and right. Those take a little bit of time to heal, but on the way up.”

    What Happened on Raw

The injury occurred during Mysterio’s singles match against Austin Theory on the January 26 episode of Raw in Toronto. The referee raised the X sign during the bout — the universal signal for a legitimate injury — and Mysterio was tended to after the match, taking no part in the post-match angle involving Penta, Dragon Lee, and The Vision.

Initial reports from the Wrestling Observer described the injury as minor and not considered serious. The full picture, confirmed now by Mysterio himself, is more significant: bilateral rib fractures are a notoriously slow-healing injury that can sideline athletes for weeks, particularly with the physical demands of in-ring work.

Despite the severity, Mysterio made the trip to Saudi Arabia and entered the 2026 Men’s Royal Rumble match just days later.

He has not competed in the ring since. WWE confirmed multiple injuries following the Rumble weekend, though the rib fractures were not publicly detailed at the time.

    WrestleMania 42 on the Horizon

The interview was conducted at a WWE community event in Las Vegas — the same city hosting WrestleMania 42 — and closed with the host confirming, “We’ll see you at WrestleMania,” suggesting Mysterio’s involvement at the show despite his extended absence from in-ring competition.

Mysterio did make a non-wrestling appearance last weekend, providing commentary for AAA’s Rey de Reyes event, a sign that he is healthy enough to be active in the orbit of the business even while his ribs continue to mend.

This is not the first time Mysterio has battled back from a significant setback in recent years. His recovery from a torn groin kept him out for seven months in 2025, forcing him to miss WrestleMania 41. With his ribs trending in the right direction, the Hall of Famer appears on track for a return to the ring at the biggest event of the year.

  • Steve Austin Details What It Was Really Like Working With Vince McMahon

Steve Austin Details What It Was Really Like Working With Vince McMahon

    Steve Austin and Vince McMahon
    WWE

Stone Cold Steve Austin sat down with Zack Heydorn on The Takedown on SI this week and offered one of the most candid portraits of Vince McMahon as a performer, boss, and psychologist that Austin has ever put on record.

On Vince’s surprising ability in the ring despite having no real training, Austin was blunt — but complimentary.

“He didn’t have reps in the ring. He’s green as hell,” Austin said. “But for some reason that guy just had an innate ability to perform. He thrived on the reactions of the people, and because he had such a vast knowledge of seeing some of the greatest heels and baby faces perform, I think he drew from that. He’s clumsy, he’s not graceful — but the chemistry between us was so strong that whatever obstacles were there, he really spun up and learned the patience process.”

Austin recalled a moment in Memphis where Vince insisted on taking a dangerous bump off the top of a cage onto an announcer’s desk despite Austin urging him not to.

“He was resolute on taking that bump,” Austin said. “I told him, ‘God dang, man, are you sure you want to do that? I don’t think you need to.’ He goes, ‘Oh, you know Steve, it’ll be great.’ His thirst as a performer to give the fans their money’s worth, and then some — he would do anything. I loved working with him.”

Austin was equally candid about Vince’s psychological grip on the locker room, describing a pattern where talent would walk into Vince’s office with a grievance and walk out having accomplished nothing — yet somehow satisfied.

“You go in there one-on-one with Vince and all of a sudden you go in there with an issue, he does this whole cycle thing with you, you shake hands, you walk out the door — and you’re like, ‘Holy [shit]. I walked in there with a problem. I still got the problem. But I’m in there with him and I agreed that everything was cool and I didn’t get anything done,’” Austin said. “He’s a master of mind games and psychology. He wore a lot of hats — psychiatrist, psychologist, motivator.”

Austin said his own relationship with Vince worked because he asked for very little.

“I was the top guy, and I was a low-maintenance guy. I don’t require a lot of attention. Just tell me what we’re doing and I’m good. I’m going to make all the house shows, show up early, stay late. I never was a diva. I was never jealous of anybody,” he said. “Once I proved myself to Vince as the guy that I could be, we were golden.”

He also recalled the moment after WrestleMania 14 when Vince signaled the full organizational machine was about to get behind him.

“I shook my head because I knew it wasn’t a great match,” Austin said of his title win over Shawn Michaels. “Vince looked at me and said, ‘Don’t worry about that. It’ll all change tomorrow.’ When Vince says things are going to change and he lights a rocket and sends you up, that’s what he does. And that’s when it was all hands on deck.”

WWE Raw Match Card for March 16, 2026

Here are the matches and segments announced for tonight’s show:

    Roman Reigns Returns

The Original Tribal Chief makes his return to Raw tonight for the first time since CM Punk made deeply personal remarks referencing Reigns’ late father, Sika Anoa’i. Punk’s comments two weeks ago sent shockwaves through the locker room and prompted a tense confrontation last week between Punk and The Usos.

Reigns is expected to respond directly to Punk tonight with WrestleMania 42 — and the World Heavyweight Championship — on the line. WWE has confirmed Reigns for three consecutive Raw appearances leading into the Show of Shows, making tonight the opening salvo.

Women’s Intercontinental Champion AJ Lee vs. Bayley

AJ Lee puts the Women’s Intercontinental Championship on the line against Bayley, who earned this title shot by winning a gauntlet match on last week’s Raw. This is Lee’s first title defense and a high-profile test heading into the WrestleMania season.

Who Will Answer Brock Lesnar’s WrestleMania Challenge?

Brock Lesnar returns to Raw tonight looking for an answer to his WrestleMania open challenge, which he issued back on February 23 alongside Paul Heyman. Oba Femi has been heavily rumored as the man to step up and face The Beast Incarnate in Las Vegas.

    Stephanie Vaquer vs. Raquel Rodriguez

Women’s World Champion Stephanie Vaquer is in non-title action tonight against Raquel Rodriguez. With Liv Morgan circling as a WrestleMania challenger, this match figures to tie into the growing rivalry between Vaquer and Morgan ahead of WrestleMania 42.

“Original” El Grande Americano vs. El Grande Americano

The identity war between the original masked star and Los Americanos’ El Grande Americano comes to a head tonight in a long-awaited singles showdown. The match stems from last week when the Los Americanos version stole an Intercontinental title opportunity. A Mask vs. Mask match at WrestleMania has been speculated as the endgame.

    Maxxine Dupri vs. Nattie

A personal rivalry between Maxxine Dupri and Natalya continues tonight in singles competition.

    The Judgment Day Appears

Dominik Mysterio and the newly restructured Judgment Day are advertised for tonight’s show. Following last week’s brutal beatdown and expulsion of Finn Balor, Dominik is now firmly positioned as the faction’s leader heading into WrestleMania.

    Road to WWE WrestleMania 42

WrestleMania 42 takes place April 18–19 at Allegiant Stadium in Paradise, Nevada. Tonight’s Raw is one of the final major episodes before the card fully takes shape, making nearly every segment critical in terms of storyline direction.

Follow SEScoops for live coverage and results from tonight’s Raw. We’ll have match-by-match updates as they happen.

  • Ronda Rousey Makes Surprise AEW Debut, Confronts Toni Storm

Ronda Rousey Makes Surprise AEW Debut, Confronts Toni Storm

Ronda Rousey made a stunning debut in All Elite Wrestling on Sunday night, entering the ring at AEW Revolution 2026 to confront ‘Timeless’ Toni Storm at Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, California.

The appearance came immediately following Storm’s victory over Marina Shafir in a match that lasted approximately nine minutes. Storm secured the win via rollup following a headbutt, after working through a physical back-and-forth that included three hip attacks in the corner and a Storm Zero.

Shafir mounted a serious threat late with her Mother’s Milk submission hold, but Storm managed to escape by biting her opponent’s hand before rallying to finish the match.

Rousey and Storm Go Face-to-Face at Revolution

With Storm standing in the ring following the victory, Rousey’s music hit and the UFC Hall of Famer made her way to the ring, calling Storm back in for a face-to-face confrontation. Security and referees quickly stepped in to separate the two women — but Shafir seized the moment, blindsiding Storm with a sucker punch from behind as the chaos unfolded around them.

The segment immediately points toward a potential alliance between Rousey and Shafir in AEW. The two have an existing connection, having teamed together for three tag team matches in Ring of Honor in 2023, giving their partnership established credibility heading into whatever comes next. Shafir has made no secret of her support for Rousey, publicly expressing excitement for her friend’s upcoming return to competition.

    Rousey’s MMA Return Comes First

Before any AEW program can fully develop, Rousey has a major commitment outside of wrestling. The former UFC champion is scheduled to return to MMA competition on May 16, facing Gina Carano at the Intuit Dome in Inglewood, California in a fight that will stream on Netflix.

The card is shaping up to be a significant event — Francis Ngannou vs. Philipe Lins has also been confirmed for the same Netflix card. Shafir has confirmed she will be ringside to support Rousey on fight night.

The matchup has drawn attention from across combat sports. Amanda Serrano has publicly backed the fight, calling it a game-changer and firing back at those who have criticized the bout.

What Rousey’s AEW schedule looks like beyond the May 16 fight remains unclear, but her appearance at Revolution — and the unmistakable tension with Toni Storm — has set the stage for a compelling program whenever she’s ready to step back in the ring.

  • Angel Garza Explains Why He Re-Signed With WWE Despite Lower Pay

Angel Garza Explains Why He Re-Signed With WWE Despite Lower Pay

Angel Garza has addressed a fan who questioned his decision to re-sign with WWE, making clear that financial stability for his family was the driving factor over competing in Mexico’s lucha libre scene.

Following his match on the March 13, 2026 edition of SmackDown, a fan on X/Twitter asked Garza why he re-signed with WWE, suggesting he and Humberto Carrillo would be better off wrestling in Arena Mexico. Garza responded candidly.

Garza acknowledged the pay disparity between WWE and the Mexican lucha libre scene but was clear that WWE’s financial security outweighs the appeal of competing closer to home.

Garza re-signed with WWE in July 2024 on a new three-year deal, which he described at the time as an offer he straight-up could not reject. The contract came as his previous deal was set to expire on August 1, 2024.

Braun Strowman at the Oscars: Arm Wrestling and Brunch

Former WWE superstar Adam Scherr, best known as Braun Strowman, made an appearance at E! Entertainment’s Brunch at the Oscars on Sunday, ahead of the 98th Annual Academy Awards.

Dressed in a green blazer and wide-brim cowboy hat, Scherr shared his excitement on social media, posting that he was having a great time with E! Entertainment at the Oscars brunch.

He was featured in a Best Picture cocktail tasting segment during the E! pre-show, hosted by Justin Sylvester and Keltie Knight. The appearance was teased on E!’s Instagram live as a “surprise visit” from the WWE legend.

The Oscars cameo comes during a busy stretch for Scherr away from wrestling. His food travel series Everything on the Menu — where he samples full menus at iconic restaurants across America — was the #1 entertainment show across all of cable in its regularly scheduled time slot during Season 1 on USA Network. Season 2 is set to premiere in the summer of 2026.

Earlier this month, Scherr also announced the launch of Meat Castle Media, a new production company formed in partnership with Magilla Entertainment. The venture will develop unscripted series, podcasts, and a new show called Hands On.

  • RFK Jr. Lays the Smackdown in WWE-Themed MAHA Video

RFK Jr. Lays the Smackdown in WWE-Themed MAHA Video

The line between WWE and Washington keeps getting blurrier.

Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. has released an AI-generated video campaign for the Department of Health’s Make America Healthy Again (MAHA) initiative, and it’s something.

Posted to Kennedy’s official government X account, the clip leans heavily into WWE branding, features commentary from legendary announcer Michael Cole, and is set to Limp Bizkit’s “Rollin’” — the track famously synonymous with The Undertaker’s American Badass persona. That’s all backdrop to RFK Jr. laying the smackdown on a Twinkie at a WWE live event, while showing off a move-set and physique ?that rivals top-level Superstars.

It’s an eyebrow-raising piece of content, but it makes sense given just how cozy the relationship between WWE and the current administration has become. WWE CCO Paul “Triple H” Levesque has been a vocal supporter of the Trump-Kennedy agenda, making appearances at official White House events and lending his platform to the MAHA health programs.

Triple H also sits on the President’s Council on Sports, Fitness & Nutrition, and has been working alongside Kennedy to revive the Presidential Fitness Test for public schools — a program that was discontinued during the Obama administration.?

Robert F. Kennedy’s Other WWE Connection

    Zoey Hines

The WWE-White House pipeline got even more personal earlier this month when Kennedy publicly revealed that his niece, Zoe Hines, had signed a contract with the company. Kennedy made the announcement during a speaking engagement alongside Education Secretary Linda McMahon — the former WWE CEO who, by Kennedy’s own admission, played a role in making the deal happen.

“Linda has become a very, very close friend, and my niece Zoe Hines recently signed a contract with WWE — which Linda has significantly influenced — to pursue a career in wrestling,” Kennedy told the crowd.

Hines, a former Boston College softball player and communications graduate, participated in WWE’s SummerSlam tryouts last year. According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, discussions about signing her had been going on behind the scenes for months ,though some within the company reportedly had reservations, as her tryout didn’t entirely impress.

The current plan is for Hines to begin training in WWE’s developmental system. But the perception problem is already there: when your uncle is the Health Secretary and the former WWE CEO personally facilitated your signing, the “privileged hire” label is going to be something to wrestle with.?

    The Contrast: Ava Raine’s Exit

The timing draws an unavoidable contrast with the recent departure of Ava Raine, Simone Johnson, daughter of Dwayne “The Rock” , who did not renew her WWE contract in January 2026 after serving as NXT General Manager.

Another high-profile ‘generational’ hire who battled perception issues of her own, Ava’s exit turned heads for a different reason: the moment her contract expired, she spoke out. Explicitly.

Days after leaving, she posted on X, “and now that I can say this with my full chest, [middle finger] ICE and that entire administration,” a statement widely interpreted as a shot at the Trump White House that she felt unable to make while still employed by WWE.

Ava has since deleted her X account entirely, but the message landed before she did.?

  • Referee Dallas Edwards Speaks Out After Suffering Concussion, Brain Bleed

Referee Dallas Edwards Speaks Out After Suffering Concussion, Brain Bleed

Ohio Valley Wrestling referee Dallas Edwards has broken his silence following a terrifying medical emergency during OVW’s weekly Rise broadcast on March 12 in Louisville, Kentucky, revealing he has been diagnosed with a concussion and a subdural hematoma — commonly known as a brain bleed.

Edwards was knocked unconscious after being inadvertently struck by a top-rope forearm from wrestler Brendan Balling, after fellow wrestler Tony Evans pulled him into the planned spot. He subsequently began convulsing in the ring, with the match continuing briefly before being stopped and medical personnel rushing in.

In a personal statement posted to Twitter on March 14, Edwards confirmed his injuries and announced he is stepping away to focus on his recovery. Rather than accepting financial donations from the wrestling community, Edwards issued a pointed call to action for his fellow workers:

“In lieu of donations, I instead implore all of my fellow workers to get some sort of training in assisting another’s life. Being in the position before, it’s very important to be educated in all scenarios relating to injury, illness, or condition in the ring, especially when we’re performing.”

Edwards also noted he was awaiting a CT scan and, pending positive results, hoped to return home from the hospital. OVW issued a statement confirming Edwards is “alert and doing much better” and that the promotion takes “the health and well-being of all our performers extremely seriously”.

The incident has drawn widespread backlash across social media, with concerns raised about the medical protocols at independent promotions and how the match continued while Edwards was down.

Balling publicly expressed remorse, calling Edwards “one of the best refs I’ve ever had” and noting the move was “an obvious accident”

  • Drew McIntyre Quits WWE on SmackDown

Drew McIntyre Quits WWE on SmackDown

Drew McIntyre “quit” WWE on the March 13, 2026, episode of SmackDown after a confrontation with SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis and Jacob Fatu.

The segment opened SmackDown with McIntyre still upset about losing the Undisputed WWE Championship to Cody Rhodes on the March 6, 2026, episode of SmackDown. During that title match, McIntyre assaulted referees, and Jacob Fatu interfered to stop McIntyre from using a chair.

McIntyre demanded answers. Aldis reminded him that his own actions led to the situation, referencing McIntyre’s interference in Cody Rhodes’ matches.

Jacob Fatu then confronted McIntyre, questioning his plans after failing to regain the WWE Championship. McIntyre’s response was a simple, “I quit.”

Cody Rhodes is now scheduled to defend the Undisputed WWE Championship against Randy Orton at WrestleMania 42.

  • OVW Referee Suffers Seizure During Match; Company Statement

OVW Referee Suffers Seizure During Match; Company Statement

Ohio Valley Wrestling is under fire after referee Dallas Edwards suffered a seizure during the promotion’s March 12, 2026 television taping in Louisville, KY — with the match reportedly continuing rather than being stopped to render aid.

According to eyewitness accounts on Reddit and social media, Edwards was knocked unconscious after being struck by a crossbody maneuver during the bout. He then began experiencing what appeared to be a seizure while still in the ring.

Wrestler “Superior” Tony Evans was reported to have dragged Edwards outside the ring as the match continued around him. The broadcast ended abruptly, and OVW removed the episode from YouTube, though it remained briefly accessible on Triller.

Katie Gannon posted on X that Edwards was stable following the incident and asked for continued prayers on his behalf.

    Widespread Condemnation

The incident has drawn intense backlash across wrestling communities on X and Reddit. Fans and observers have called for accountability from everyone involved, with some demanding Evans be permanently banned from wrestling and OVW event staff be terminated.

The episode has reignited broader concerns about medical protocols at independent promotions. Industry safety standards — including those outlined by the Cauliflower Alley Club — call for the immediate stoppage of competition when a performer is injured.

Major promotions like WWE have long-standing policies requiring matches be halted and medical personnel dispatched the moment a legitimate emergency occurs at ringside.

Independent promotions, which typically operate with fewer resources and less formal oversight, have frequently faced criticism for falling short of those benchmarks.

    OVW Responds

OVW has since issued a statement confirming the incident and providing an update on Edwards’ condition. The promotion called Edwards “a member of our OVW family” and said the company was “distraught” to see one of their own injured during the broadcast.

“Dallas is alert and doing much better,” OVW wrote, asking fans to keep him in their thoughts and prayers while respecting his and his family’s privacy. The promotion added that it would provide further updates as they become available.

Brie Bella Hoping For More WWE TV Time Ahead Of WrestleMania

Brie Bella is eager to get back on WWE television and wrestle before WrestleMania 42, but she admits the booking hasn’t come as quickly as she anticipated.

Speaking on An Unlikely Affair, Brie opened up about the situation in her own words:

“It’s one of those crazy things… I came back at the end of January and I just assumed, oh, you’re gonna have me back every Monday. But they’re like, ‘Okay, we’ll let you know when you’re needed back in the story.’ And I’m like, it’s been five weeks.”

Brie made her surprise return at the 2026 Royal Rumble in Saudi Arabia, entering at number 29 after Nikki entered at number 25.

The two reunited on the Raw after the event to cut a promo announcing their pursuit of the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championships — the one major title the duo has never won.?

With WrestleMania 42 on the horizon, Brie made clear how much is at stake for her and her sister:

“I’m hoping we’re back there soon. I would love to be able to wrestle before WrestleMania. I do because the titles are on the line and they will be at WrestleMania. Nikki and I both want to prove that we can hang with this division and that we deserve to be in that WrestleMania match to go for the titles. They just need to give me the time. I gotta get in there.”

With WrestleMania less than a month away, there’s not much time to waste to get the Bellas positioned for something meaningful.

  • Dominik Mysterio: “Finn Bálor had his time. Past tense.”

Dominik Mysterio: “Finn Bálor had his time. Past tense.”

Dominik Mysterio has spoken candidly about his ascension to the top of The Judgment Day, the ousting of Finn Bálor, and why he thinks JD McDonagh is better off without his former best friend.

In an interview on The Collection with Brad Gilmore at Reality of Wrestling in Houston, Dom addressed the faction’s March 9 attack on Bálor and his own position atop wrestling’s most dominant stable.

“It had to be done,” Mysterio said plainly. “There were a lot of differences going on. We weren’t being a cohesive unit. At the end of the day, we played the Finn Bálor playbook and that’s what happened. He should have seen it coming.”

    The shadow of Finn Balor

Dom was particularly effusive about JD McDonagh being the one to pull the trigger on the betrayal, calling it a long time coming for the Irishman who spent years operating in Bálor’s shadow.

“I’m so happy for JD for finally being able to leave Finn’s shadow — he’s been in it for too long,” Mysterio said. “Finn Bálor had his time. Past tense.”

He also offered a pointed summary of Bálor’s place in Judgment Day history:

“We’re in the future now, and the future is about Dom. It’s about JD. It’s about Liv. It’s about Raquel… and Roxanne Perez, of course.”

Original Plans for Dominik Mysterio vs. Finn Balor

Finn Bálor vs. Dominik Mysterio was reportedly scheduled for SummerSlam last year, but WWE opted to hold off on that matchup, feeling the Judgment Day storyline was still running hot and the change should come at a later date.

At the time, the plan had Bálor bringing back the Demon gimmick for the event, according to the Wrestling Observer.

Dom initially reluctant to Judgment Day

In a candid moment during the interview with Brad Gilmore, Mysterio admitted he wasn’t a true believer when Judgment Day first recruited him.

“No, not at all. I fought it for a long time. It felt weird and hokey at the very beginning,” he said. “But then something happened where all four of us clicked outside of the ring. We were all riding together, so it all transitioned to inside the ring. And man, it just worked.”

Dom pointed to the faction’s uninterrupted run of championship success as proof of concept, noting that Judgment Day has held at least one title throughout its entire existence as a group. The faction is showing no signs of slowing down even as it enters a new chapter without another founding member.

  • Dominik Mysterio Says His AAA Surprise Debut Tops WrestleMania

Dominik Mysterio Says His AAA Surprise Debut Tops WrestleMania

Dominik Mysterio has had no shortage of jaw-dropping career moments — WrestleMania title wins, beating John Cena in his hometown — but in a new interview, he revealed the moment that actually gave him goosebumps above all others: a surprise appearance in Juárez, Mexico for AAA.

Sitting down with Brad Gilmore on The Collection at Reality of Wrestling in Houston, Dom ranked his career highlights with characteristic bravado and surprising self-awareness.

The AAA Surprise Was His Wildest Moment

“The wildest one for me was showing up in Triple A for the first time in Juárez,” Mysterio said. “Winning my IC championship at WrestleMania — insane. Beating John Cena at Survivor Series — insane. WrestleMania against my deadbeat dad two hours from San Diego — insane. But the reaction…”

Dom arrived at 8:15 PM for a show that had already started at 8, with no public announcement that he was coming. The crowd reaction, he says, was something else entirely.

“Allegedly when they were recording, the speakers blew out because it was so loud the cameras couldn’t capture the full audio. It gave me goosebumps,” he said. “It was something I always wanted to do — wrestle in Mexico with Triple A — and getting that reaction, showing up randomly out of nowhere where nobody knew about it. It was insane.”

That Juárez moment has since grown into something much bigger. Mysterio has become a centerpiece of WWE’s reboot of AAA, serving as the marquee crossover star bridging both promotions — and this Saturday, the stakes couldn’t be higher. Dominik defends the AAA Mega Championship against El Hijo del Vikingo at AAA Rey de Reyes 2026 in a No Disqualification Lucha de Apuestas match. If Dom loses, he’s banned from AAA entirely. If Vikingo loses, he can never challenge for the title again. The match streams Saturday at 10 ET/7 PT on FOX in Latin America and on YouTube and Facebook everywhere else.

Survivor Series at Petco Park: ‘A Fairy Tale Ending’

While the AAA surprise topped Dom’s personal list, he acknowledged the Survivor Series moment — walking out IC Champion after beating John Cena at Petco Park in his hometown of San Diego — as something equally surreal.

“Not only was it John Cena’s last PLE, it was the first wrestling event ever held at Petco Park in San Diego,” Mysterio said. “I’m born and raised in San Diego. I’ve gone to Padre games my whole life. Walking in, in the city where I’m from, walking out as a double champion, beating John Cena — that shit’s insane. You can’t write it. It just writes itself. It’s like a fairy tale ending for me.”

The WrestleMania Crowd That Confused Him

Dom also reflected on the strange experience at WrestleMania 41, where the heavily Latino Las Vegas crowd started cheering for the man they had been booing all year.

“I’d get beat up and they’d start booing, then I’d start doing something and they’d go crazy. I was like, ‘This is not normal — they’re probably watching something else because this isn’t adding up,’” he said.

Rather than lean into the fan response or adjust his character, Dom chose to stay the course as a heel. “I didn’t change anything about myself and I wasn’t going to change anything of what I was currently doing. I’m still going to be the heel that I am. And if people like it, they like it. Hell, sometimes you got to love a bad guy.”

With the WWE/AAA alliance continuing to build momentum, Mysterio’s Rey de Reyes title defense this Saturday is his biggest crossover test yet — and the Lucha de Apuestas stipulation means there’s no soft landing for either man.

  • Dominik Mysterio Challenges Penta: Mustache vs. Mask at WrestleMania

Dominik Mysterio Challenges Penta: Mustache vs. Mask at WrestleMania

Dominik Mysterio has officially issued a WrestleMania challenge to Penta (c), proposing a Mustache vs. Mask stipulation to go along with the WWE Intercontinental Championship on the line.

Speaking on The Collection with Brad Gilmore at Reality of Wrestling in Houston, Dom made clear he intends to reclaim the title he lost to Penta on the March 2 episode of WWE Raw — and he’s willing to put his signature mustache on the line to do it.

“I know Penta is an ugly, ugly dude, so I’m willing to put my hair up on the line against his mask and that IC championship — whatever it takes to get my IC title back,” Mysterio said. “Hell, I’ll even put up my mustache.”

    Dom Blames Finn, Not Penta

Mysterio was quick to downplay Penta’s victory, pinning the title loss squarely on Finn Bálor, whose interference prevented JD McDonagh from intervening. Dom claimed the record between the two heavily favors him heading into any WrestleMania showdown.

“He got lucky on this last one because of Finn Bálor’s dumbass,” Mysterio said. “I’ve beat this dude probably seven or eight times already. I would like to walk out as a double champ at WrestleMania.”

The “double champ” vision refers to winning back the IC title while retaining the AAA Mega Championship he currently holds. Dom must first defend the AAA title the Saturday before WrestleMania 42, a defense he dismissed with zero concern: “Obviously I will. Not a problem.”

    A WrestleMania Guarantee

Dom also made a bold prediction about his Judgment Day partner Liv Morgan, who will challenge for the Women’s World Championship at WrestleMania.

“Guaranteed. She is going to walk out as your new women’s world champion. She’s going to destroy Stephanie. It’s not even funny,” Mysterio said.

No official Mustache vs. Mask match has been announced, but the recent chaos inside Judgment Day — and Penta’s role in Dom’s title loss — makes a WrestleMania 42 rematch the obvious destination for this rivalry.

The mask stipulation would be one of the most personal stakes in the match’s history, given how sacred the luchador mask tradition is in Mexican wrestling culture.

  • Jim Ross: Cyndi Lauper belongs in the WWE Hall of Fame

Jim Ross: Cyndi Lauper belongs in the WWE Hall of Fame

Jim Ross believes Cyndi Lauper deserves to be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame, arguing that her contributions during WWE’s national expansion in the 1980s warrant the honor.

Speaking on his Grilling JR Podcast, Ross explains that Lauper brought publicity and awareness to WWE, and hel Lauper was involved in WWE’s Rock ‘n’ Wrestling Connection, managing Wendi Richter and appearing at WrestleMania 1.

“Cyndi Lauper belongs in the WWE Hall of Fame. Cyndi brought a lot of publicity. A lot of awareness.”

Ross is arguing that Lauper’s contributions to WWE during its period of national expansion warrant her inclusion in the Hall of Fame. Lauper’s involvement included hitting opponents with her ‘Loaded Purse of Doom’ and storylines with Captain Lou Albano and Roddy Piper.

Lauper helped WWE’s popularity by appearing in music videos, managing Wendi Richter, and participating in events like The Brawl to End It All (1984, MTV) and WrestleMania 1 (1985).

Her involvement in WWE’s rise to mainstream pop culture during the “golden era” warrant Hall of Fame recognition, and Cyndi Lauper would be a perfect celebrity inductee as part of the 2026 WWE Hall of Fame Class.

  • Sol Ruca Opens Up About Fans Questioning Her Racial Identity

Sol Ruca Opens Up About Fans Questioning Her Racial Identity

WWE NXT Superstar Sol Ruca has addressed the online debate that resurfaces annually surrounding her mixed-race heritage, candidly discussing how some fans refuse to accept her background while others come to her defense.

In a conversation with Stephanie McMahon on What’s Your Story?, Ruca, who is of mixed Black and white heritage, spoke about the recurring social media scrutiny she faces, particularly during Black History Month.

“I feel like a lot of people don’t really accept that, or I guess some people accept it, some people don’t,” she said. “It always baffles my mind every time people start finding out again. I feel like it goes in waves of people.”

    Defending her identify

Ruca noted that some fans even demand she provide photographic proof of her father, only to then question whether he is “Black enough” to validate her identity. She pushed back on the skepticism simply by asking: “Why would I lie?”

The 26-year-old also reflected on a double-edged dynamic she experienced in sports, where her athletic success was sometimes credited to her Black heritage rather than her own hard work — an attitude she found dismissive of her efforts.

Importantly, Ruca drew a clear distinction in her comments, acknowledging that she does not claim the full lived experience of darker-skinned Black women while still asserting that her mixed identity is valid and deserving of acceptance.

“I’ve never claimed that I’m a black woman. I know I’m mixed, but I still think it should be accepted,” she said. “A lot of mixed people have this identity crisis because it’s like, ‘Where do I fit?’ And people are gonna tell you that you’re not this, or you’re not that.”

Ruca concluded on a grounded note, saying that despite the ongoing social media conflict, she remains secure in her sense of self. “I know who I am. I know who my dad is. I know who my mom is. And there’s nothing I can do about it.”
