  • WWE Survivor Series Updated Card: Two Big Matches Set, Bobby Lashley Replaces Raw Star

During Monday’s episode of WWE Raw, the company announced two big matches and made a change to a traditional elimination tag team match for the upcoming Survivor Series PPV.

Raw Women’s Champion Becky Lynch vs. SmackDown Women’s Champion Charlotte Flair and WWE Champion Big E vs. Universal Champion Roman Reigns in a champion vs. champion bouts were confirmed.  Also, Bobby Lashley has replaced Dominik Mysterio on Team Raw.

Regarding Lashley, WWE had Adam Pearce point out to Rey and Dominik Mysterio that Team Raw at Survivor Series consists of all former WWE Champions besides Dominik so if the son of the future WWE Hall of Famer could beat Lashley then he would keep his spot. That didn’t happen as Lashley beat him in a one-sided match with the returning MVP at ringside.

Lashley is now joining Raw’s men’s Survivor Series team alongside Seth Rollins, Kevin Owens, Finn Balor and Rey Mysterio.

As for Lynch vs. Flair, this comes just a few weeks ago when Flair and Lynch confronted one another following the title exchange segment on SmackDown that reportedly led to Flair being escorted out of the arena to prevent any further issues. Flair went to management regarding the segment and tried to convince them that it would make her title reign look weak.

    Updated WWE Survivor Series Card

WWE Champion Big E vs. Universal Champion Roman Reigns – Champion vs. Champion Match

Raw Women’s Champion Becky Lynch vs. SmackDown Women’s Champion Charlotte Flair – Champion vs. Champion Match

Team Raw (Seth Rollins, Finn Balor, Kevin Owens, Rey Mysterio, and Bobby Lashley) vs. Team SmackDown (Drew McIntyre, Jeff Hardy, Xavier Woods, Sami Zayn, and Baron Corbin) – Men’s Elimination Tag Team Match

Team Raw (Sasha Banks, Shayna Bazler, Shotzi Blackheart, Natalya, and Aliyah) vs. Team SmackDown (Bianca Belair, Rhea Ripley, Liv Morgan, Carmella, and Zelina Vega) – Women’s Elimination Tag Team Match

  • Why Hasn’t WWE Started Promoting This Year’s Survivor Series?

Fans have noticed that WWE has yet to fully start the build for the Survivor Series pay-per-view event, which is just a few weeks away from happening.

The speculation is the card will feature WWE Champion Big E against Universal Champion Roman Reigns and SmackDown Women’s Champion Charlotte Flair against Raw Women’s Champion Becky Lynch. As of this writing, WWE has yet to make those bouts official.

There’s also been very little talk about those matches on television as the women’s bout was briefly mentioned during the Title Exchange segment a few weeks ago. A few weeks ago, there was a brief face-to-face between Big E and Reigns a few weeks ago.

Dave Meltzer reported in the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that the mentality in the company was to push Crown Jewel as hard as possible as that was the most important thing at the time. Now that the show has passed, the focus has been on the new rosters to settle in on television before eventually pushing the pay-per-view in the final weeks.

Big E is in a feud with Seth Rollins and Kevin Owens right now while Reigns hasn’t mentioned Big E at all. Historically, WWE does a Raw vs. SmackDown theme for the show.

WWE presents the Survivor Series pay-per-view event on Saturday, November 21, 2021 in Brooklyn, New York at the Barclays Center that will air on Peacock.

Mandy Rose Kicks Off The Show

    \"\"

Mandy Rose previously announced on social media that she will be kicking off tonight’s episode of NXT 2.0. She just won the Women’s Title from Raquel Gonzalez on last week’s episode of NXT, which had the special Halloween Havoc theme. In the video, Rose teased that she had a few tricks up her sleeve.

So what did she say?  She bragged about doing what she said she was going to do and that was become champion. She said she’s still the baddest b*tch in the company. She noted now that Toxic Attraction has all of the gold means everyone is watching them. We see the rest of the group beating down Zoey Starks in the back. Rose said Toxic Attraction runs NXT and if anyone thinks differently then come out.

Io Shirai was that person. Io said that she doesn’t like Starks, but doesn’t like Rose even less so she wants Rose right now. Rose said that she’s not afraid of Io. She attacked Io and beat her down. Io fought back and laid out Rose until Jayne and Dolin came out to beatdown Io. Kacy Catanzaro and Kayden Carter ran out to make the save.

    Tag Action

    \"\"

Kyle O\’Reilly & Von Wagner faced Legado del Fantasma\’s Raul Mendoza & Joaquin Wilde.

Over the weeknd, WWE sent out a tweet asking fans who they’d like to see challenge for Imperium\’s NXT Tag Team Titles. Wagner said he and O\’Reilly should get the title match, but  Mendoza called Wagner out for wanting a title shot when he\’s only been in NXT for \”five minutes.\” There was a back and forth that led to this match being made.

The partnership between O\’Reilly & Wagner started  after Wagner made the save for O\’Reilly when he was attacked by Pete Dunne and Ridge Holland back on the premiere of NXT 2.0 in September.

Just last week, Imperium\’s Marcel Barthel & Fabian Aichner won the NXT Tag Team Titles by defeating MSK in a Lumberjack-O\’-Lantern match at Halloween Havoc.

The match took place near the end of the first hour. The finish saw a mistiming with Kyle and Von, which led to Wagner being rolled up for the win.

    Tommaso Ciampa Speaks

    \"\"

Tommaso Ciampa successfully retained the NXT Title over Bron Breakker at Halloween Havoc last week. This was a surprise to many fans as Breakker was heavily favored to win the title.

Ciampa did a promo in the ring about how this match was the changing of the guard in NXT and a shift in the brand. He ran down all of the title changes. Carmelo Hayes and Trick Williams came out. Hayes said that there is a new school in NXT and he’s the leader of it. Hayes said as long as he’s here, Ciampa is taking a back seat to him because he’s the A-champion. Ciampa then laid out Williams then left the ring. Johnny Gargano came out for his match and had a staredown with Ciampa.

Speaking of Breakker, he beat Andrew Chase earlier in the night. Post-match, he cut a promo about how Ciampa was the better man that night, but he is focused on getting that title he will die trying to do just that.

    Dakota Kai Back In Action

    \"\"

Dakota Kai returned to action against Cora Jade on this show. Just last week, Kai made her return at Halloween Havoc last week when she cost Raquel Gonzalez her title in a match with Mandy Rose.

This renewed their feud that included Gonzalez defending the title against Kai and coming out victorious.

The match was a short squash match for Kai, who laid her out with a big boot in the corner. Post-match, she beat her down and left her laying with a table on her.

    Tag Team Match

    \"\"

Johnny Gargano and Dexter Lumis vs. Trick Williams and NXT North American Champion Carmelo Hayes in a tag team match took place.

Two weeks ago, this feud started when Gargano set his sights on Hayes\’ North American Title. Three weeks ago, Hayes won the North American Championship on NXT after cashing in his title shot contract and pinned Isaiah Scott to become North American Champion.

Last week, Hayes and Williams went to a haunted house on Halloween Havoc to get the belt back from Gargano and Lumis.

The match served as the main event and was pretty solid with a hot crowd. Williams hit Lumis with his boot when Lumis had Hayes in a submission. Hayes hit a leg drop off the top rope for the win.

  • Vince McMahon Soured On Bray Wyatt For Speaking Up About Creative (Report)

When WWE released Bray Wyatt a few months ago, the reason given for it was due to budget cuts. The company has released dozens of wrestlers and employees since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic in an effort to shore up resources and strengthen the bottom line.

It now looks like finances, specifically a lucrative contract, were not the only factor working against Bray Wyatt. According to a new report at Fightful Select, Vince McMahon soured on the third generation star because he was \”too outspoken\” about creative plans.

The \’budget cuts\’ excuse did not satisfy people in WWE. Wyatt\’s release had a negative effect on morale, as a result.

It was reported several months ago by Dave Meltzer that the original plan for the Wyatt vs. Randy Orton match at WrestleMania 37 was for Orton to lose to Wyatt then take time off.

Plans were changed and Orton went over with Wyatt taking time off instead. There were reportedly no creative \’endgame\’ for that storyline. At one point in the storyline, Wyatt was burned alive by Orton.

Wyatt was someone who sold a ton of merchandise for the company and because he was let go despite that, it has wrestlers thinking that no job is safe in WWE. This feeling extends to long-time stars up and down the card.

Bray Wyatt is now a free agent and is looking forward to telling his side of the story, as it relates to his WWE release.

  • Goldberg Thinks He Shut Up The Critics With His Match At WWE Crown Jewel

Goldberg is satisfied with his match against Bobby Lashley at WWE Crown Jewel.

The WWE Hall of Famer talked about the match on the latest episode of the CarCast podcast. He thinks the performance silenced the critics of his work in the ring.

\”I don’t have the best track record in Saudi Arabia. I’ve knocked myself out in a match, I’ve dropped The Undertaker on his head, and this and that. I needed to redeem myself. I’m not happy with my performance, but I’m satisfied with it to a point where I think it’s shut all these f*ckers up finally.\”

The match was a no holds barred, falls count anywhere bout that he ended when he speared Lashley off the stage and onto a crash pad on the floor.

On the same podcast, Goldberg noted that his injured knee is hurting him, but is his life now after a career of playing football and wrestling.

Also on the CarCast, Goldberg addressed how his injured knee is feeling and spoke about what his relationship with Lashley is like behind the scenes. He put over Lashley for being a great individual and someone he’s wanted to wrestle for years so he felt honored that Lashley worked with him.

WWE announced that Carmelo Hayes and Trick Williams would have to go to Dexter Lumis and Johnny Gargano’s haunted house to search for the lost NXT North American Title.

Just last week, Gargano came out to challenge Hayes for a shot at his title. A brawl broke out with Lumis and Gargano being in possession of the title.

It started with Williams and Hayes arriving in a car at a big creepy house. Williams didn’t want to go at first. Gargano told Lumis that he Home Aloned the place. There was a referee dressed up as a zombie, various people dressed up. They went through various spooky rooms until they found the title. Lumis and Gargano were standing behind them to punch them. Williams and Gargano ran off with the title. Gargano told Lumis that his place was weird and next year, they would do Halloween at his place.

WWE NXT Women’s Tag Team Titles

    \"\"

WWE NXT Women’s Tag Team Champions Io Shirai & Zoey Stark vs.Indi Hartwell & Persia Pirotta vs. Gigi Dolin & Jacy Jayne in a Scareway to Hell Ladder Match took place.

The way WWE got to this match gimmick was last week’s show that featured a triple threat match between Shirai, Pirotta, and Jayne to determine who would spin the wheel to reveal the stipulation as Shirai pinned Pirotta.

The match started off the show. Starks fell off the ladder only to springboard off the top rope to take out the teams. She was selling her knee after it. Dolin got powerbombed onto a ladder.  Io took a nasty fall off a ladder onto a ladder between the apron and announce table. Dolin grabbed the titles to win the match.

Gigi Dolin & Jacy Jayne are the new NXT Women’s Tag Team Titles.

    NXT Tag Team Championship Match

    \"\"

NXT Tag Team Champions MSK defended the titles against Imperium and were dethroned.

Three weeks ago on the program, MSK retained their titles in a fatal four-way elimination match against The Grizzled Young Veterans, Josh Briggs & Brooks Jensen, and Carmelo Hayes & Trick Williams. Post-match, Barthel & Aichner attacked MSK.

Last week, Barthel & Aichner defeated The Creed Brothers. Post-match, MSK attacked the heels before telling them that they\’d see them at Halloween Havoc.

They had a lumberjack match. They were a normal tag team bout with the heels dominating. Lee took out a bunch of lumberjacks with a dive over the top rope. Imperium won with their finisher.

    NXT Women’s Title Match

    \"\"

Mandy Rose challenged NXT Women’s Champion Raquel Gonzalez for the title in a match that was decided thanks to spin the wheel, make a deal gimmick.

Three weeks ago, Rose first set her sights on the NXT Women\’s Championship when Toxic Attraction attacked Gonzalez. Two weeks ago,  Io Shirai & Zoey Starks made the save for Gonzalez when Toxic Attraction were about to attack her again

The match was touted as a Trick or Street Fight. They used kendo sticks early in the match. There was a fire extinguisher spot. Raquel was put into a chair and trapped by a kendo stick. Rose got thrown face first into a chair. A masked person came out and hit Raquel in the back with a weapon. Rose hit a running knee for the win. The masked person was Dakota Kai.

    NXT Title Match

    \"\"

In the main event, Bron Breakker challenged Tommaso Ciampa for the NXT Title.

The announcement of this match and event was announced a few weeks ago by Ciampa during a promo segment while talking about Breakker wanting to challenge for his title and said that actions speak louder than words. After a back and forth, the match was made official.

Ciampa defeated LA Knight, Pete Dunne, and Von Wagner in a fatal four-way match to win the title on the premiere of NXT 2.0 after Samoa Joe had to relinquish it. That same night, Breakker (real name Bronson Rechsteiner)  made his debut by beating LA Knight.

The match was back and forth with both guys getting their spots in. Ciampa sold for Breakker’s high impact moves. Ciampa hit a DDT on the exposed concrete. Breakker was bleeding from the top of his head. The finish was Ciampa hitting his finisher twice for the win.

  • Tommaso Ciampa Retains WWE NXT Title At Halloween Havoc Special

Tommaso Ciampa put the WWE NXT Title on the line against the strongly pushed Bron Breakker on Tuesday’s episode of NXT 2.0 TV, which was billed as a Halloween Havoc special.

It served as the main event. The match was back and forth with Breakker being protected by the veteran. Breakker did some high impact moves, which Ciampa sold to perfection. Ciampa hit a DDT on the exposed concrete. Ciampa hit the fairytale ending for a near fall. Breakker was bleeding from the top of his head. Ciampa hit the fairytale ending again for the win.

Breakker had just one match before he was put into the title picture as after he beat LA Knight in his first-ever match, he teased going after the title that was held by Ciampa. They later worked a few tag team matches including wins over Pete Dunne & Ridge Holland and Grizzled Young Veterans in recent weeks before getting to this spot.

Ciampa won the vacant championship back on the September 19th edition of NXT 2.0. He beat Knight, Dunne, and Von Wagoner (the former Cal Bloom) in a fatal 4-way match to do so.

The title became vacant by Samoa Joe after he revealed that he was relinquishing it due to an undisclosed injury. At the time, he said that he wouldn’t be out of action for very long, but didn’t say what the exact injury was. He has yet to return.

  • Imperium Win WWE NXT Tag Team Titles

Imperium stepped up to the plate and dethroned MSK as the WWE NXT Tag Team Champions in a Lumberjack Match on Tuesday’s episode of NXT 2.0 TV, which was billed as a Halloween Havoc special.

The match went 15 minutes in the co-main event spot on the broadcast. It was a solid tag team match that had a few spots using the other wrestler including when there was an outside dive to take out everyone. Imperium won with their finisher.

This was a big upset as MSK was listed as -150 favorites to retain the titles in the betting odds that were released this morning.

MSK became the champions when they won it in a triple threat match against The Grizzled Young Veterans and Legado del Fantasma (Raul Mendoza & Joaquin Wilde) at TakeOver: Stand & Deliver this April.

Other notable title defenses included a winners-take-all six-man tag match at the WWE NXT TakeOver:  In Your House event as well as them beating  Tommaso Ciampa and Timothy Thatcher at NXT: Great American Bash in July.

What are your thoughts on Imperium winning the NXT Tag Team Titles? Was this the right call by WWE officials? Sound off in the comment section.

  • Mandy Rose Wins NXT Women’s Title a Halloween Havoc

Mandy Rose was the latest challenger to step up to take a shot at dethroning Raquel Gonzalez as the WWE NXT Women’s Champion and she was successful.

It took place on Tuesday’s episode of NXT 2.0 TV, which was billed as a Halloween Havoc special. The match was touted as a Trick or Street Fight. There were various weapons used in the match including kendo sticks, chairs, and more. The finish saw Dakota Kai, who was dressed up, hit Raquel in the back with a kendo stick and Rose connected with a running knee strike.

Since returning to NXT a few months ago, Rose made the transformation with both her character and look as she went from having blonde hair to dark hair. She also aligned a faction called Toxic Attraction with Gigi Dolin and Jacy Jayne. After they formed it, they beat Kacy Catanzaro, Kayden Carter and Sarray in a six-woman tag team match as well as Rose scoring a win over Ember Moon.

At TakeOver: Stand & Deliver this April, Gonzalez won the NXT Women’s Championship by defeating Io Shirai. Since that time, Gonzalez had successful title defenses against Mercedes Martinez, Moon, Xia Li, and Franky Monet.

It will be interesting to see where Rose goes from here. Kai and Raquel will be picking up their feud again.

  • Gigi Dolin & Jacy Jayne Win WWE NXT Women\’s Tag Team Titles

New NXT Women\’s Tag Team Champions were crowned at Halloween Havoc, which was a special edition of WWE NXT 2.0, as Toxic Attraction\’s Gigi Dolin & Jacy Jayne defeated Io Shirai & Zoey Stark and Indi Hartwell & Persia Pirotta in a triple threat Scareway to Hell ladder match to win the titles.

WWE decided on the stipulation thanks to the Spin the Wheel, Make the Deal. Leading up to the finish,  Hartwell sent Shirai tumbling off a ladder and crashing onto another ladder. When Hartwell tried to climb the ladder, she was knocked off the ladder by Dolin, which got the titles.

Dolin and Jayne become the fifth team to hold the NXT Women\’s Tag Team titles since they were introduced this March. Io and Sarks held the titles for 112 days after beating Candice LeRae and Indi Hartwell for them back in July.

On this same show, Toxic Attraction leader Mandy Rose challenged Raquel Gonzalez for the  NXT Women\’s Championship in a Spin the Wheel, Make the Deal match.

  • Shawn Michaels Says It’s Impossible For Him To Fill Triple H’s WWE NXT Role

Triple H hasn’t been present at the WWE NXT 2.0 events since he had undergone a procedure for a genetic heart issue in early September.

Shawn Michaels has been filling in for Triple H while running things backstage at the events. The WWE Hall of Famer spoke to Justin Barrasso of Sports Illustrated to promote the Halloween Havoc edition of NXT 2.0 on Tuesday night and during it, spoke about it.

Michaels views it as a situation to step in for his best friend as a way to pay him back for years of friendship.

“Trying to step in and fill his role is impossible to do. Everybody here misses him unbelievably, especially me. But I always go back to this—everything in real life takes precedence over everything else. This was a situation where my best friend needed my help and needed me to step in, so I look at this as an opportunity, in a small way, to thank him for everything he did for me earlier in my career.

Taking over the responsibilities here is a drop in the bucket compared to what he did for me all those years back. I’m honored to at least have the opportunity to pay him back a little bit and be there for him. That’s what this whole company does—this whole relaunch has been everyone pulling together, and I’m energized and inspired to keep this NXT territory going strong during his absence.”

For the last few years, Michaels has been the right-hand man of Triple H, who had been overseeing the creative process of the brand, in addition to being a coach and Producer.

  • Bronson Reed Has Interest From NJPW & Impact (Report)

Former WWE NXT Star Bronson Reed is still on the free agent market, but he is gaining some interest from two promotions – New Japan Pro Wrestling and Impact Wrestling.

NJPW has reportedly made a big play for Reed (via Fightful), who is going by his previous moniker of Jonah Rock. Impact is also interested in signing him, but those in the promotion were said to not be confident that he would be making his debut this weekend.

Impact holds its Bound for Glory pay-per-view event on Saturday night and then TV tapings on Sunday and Monday.

Reed was let go by WWE earlier this year after his reign ended as North American Champion. He had a 30-day non-compete clause due to him being under an NXT contract so he’s been free and clear to sign with anyone since early last month.

Before Reed had been released due to budget cuts, the company had him work several dark matches at a time where they were trying out various NXT stars such as Karrion Kross, Shotzi Blackheart, and Teagan Nox before calling them up to the main roster.

Last week it was revealed that former WWE star Buddy Murphy would be joining the promotion to work on their United States brand.

  • Roman Reigns Beats Brock Lesnar To Retain Universal Title At WWE Crown Jewel

Just two months after WWE booked the biggest match possible involving Roman Reigns, which was against John Cena, the company brought back Brock Lesnar in order for him to challenge “The Big Dog” for the Universal Title.

The match took place in the main event of the Crown Jewel pay-per-view event. Reigns connected with a superman punch then a dive over the top rope and once back in the ring, Reigns hit a spear for 2. Lesnar fought back with some german suplexes and an F5. The referee was taken out thanks to Charles Robinson being hit by Reigns\’ legs on an F5. Paul Heyman tossed the title in between Lesnar and Reigns. The end came when The Usos hit a double superkick to Lesnar then Reigns hit him with the title and a new referee counted the fall.

After Reigns had beaten Cena to retain the Universal Title at the SummerSlam pay-per-view event in August, Lesnar made his return to have a staredown. During the SmackDown episode at Madison Square Garden, WWE started the storyline where Reigns began to question which side Heyman was on as Lesnar said that Heyman knew he was coming.

Once Reigns left the ring, Heyman did his old introduction for Lesnar, who was smiling. Lesnar turned on Heyman after telling him to get him a match with Reigns. There is a lot of history between Reigns and Lesnar as they headlined WrestleMania 31 in 2015 and WrestleMania 34 in 2018.

  • Becky Lynch Keeps SmackDown Women’s Title At WWE Crown Jewel

Becky Lynch had the deck stacked against her storyline-wise when she put the WWE SmackDown Women’s Title on the line in a triple threat match against Bianca Belair and Sasha Banks at the Crown Jewel pay-per-view event.

The match had a typical three-way flow to it and everyone got in their signature moves. At one point, Banks and Lynch applied both of their submissions at the same time to Belair. Later on, Lynch applied a double disarmer. Belair hit the KOD to Lynch only to be pulled out of the ring by Banks and once in the ring, Lynch rolled up Banks for the win.

In late July, Banks returned to WWE television to continue her feud with Belair after being off TV since the post-WrestleMania episode of SmackDown. Although Banks initially saved Belair from an attack by Carmella and Zelina Vega, after they teamed up, Banks turned against Belair and put her in the Banks Statement twice.

Banks was slated to challenge Belair for the SmackDown Women’s Title at August’s SummerSlam pay-per-view event, but Banks was pulled from the show due to unknown reasons aside from her not being medically cleared to compete. Instead, WWE brought back Lynch earlier than she intended to do so where she quickly beat Belair to win the championship.

Banks made her return by causing Lynch and Belair\’s rematch to end in disqualification at Extreme Rules.

  • Big E Retains WWE Title At Crown Jewel

Drew McIntyre waited patiently to get another WWE Title shot and he got his chance when he stepped into the ring with current champion Big E at the Crown Jewel pay-per-view event.

The match started off slow and ramped up throughout it. Once they got going, they did a series of near falls. At one point, McIntyre went for the Claymore Kick, but Big E blocked with a powerbomb. McIntyre connected with a bulldog off the top rope for 2. The finish saw Big E hit the Big Ending.

McIntyre hadn\’t been able to challenge for the title until Bobby Lashley was no longer champion. The match was set up on the October 4th edition of Monday Night Raw when McIntyre thanked Big E for freeing the title from Lashley before pointing out how Big E cashed in his Money in the Bank contract to win the title.

Big E and McIntyre teamed up to beat Robert Roode and Dolph Ziggler on this same show. Following the match, Big E accepted the challenge issued by the former Champion.

The week before, McIntyre and Big E first crossed paths after Big E successfully retained the WWE Championship against Bobby Lashley in a steel cage match. When that match wrapped up, WWE did a cliffhanger ending with McIntyre coming out to point his sword at Big E, which signaled the direction of this feud.

Big E is expected to face Universal Champion Roman Reigns at the Survivor Series pay-per-view event in November from Brooklyn, NY at the Barclays Center.

  • Xavier Woods Wins King Of The Ring, Zelina Vega Wins Queen’s Crown

WWE held the King of the Ring and Queen’s Crown tournament finals at this year’s Crown Jewel pay-per-view event in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

On the King of the Ring side of things, Xavier Woods vs. Finn Balor went down. The back and forth match ended when Woods fought back and hit an elbow drop off the top rope.

Regarding Queen’s Crown, Doudrop vs. Zelina Vega took place. The match featured Vega controlling the action with Dewdrop fighting back throughout it. They did some near falls before Vega hit a Code Red for the win. The match went nearly six minutes.

The first round matches of the Queen’s Crown tournament saw Vega beat Toni Storm, Carmella defeat Liv Morgan, Doupdrop go over Natalya and Shayna Baszler over Dana Brooke. The semi-finals saw Vega beat Carmella and Dewdrop defeat Natalya.

For the King of the Ring, Sami Zayn beat Rey Mysterio, Finn Balor over Cesaro, Jinder Mahal defeat Kofi Kingston, and Xavier Woods over Ricochet in the first round. The semi-finals were Woods beating Mahal and Balor beating Zayn.

This was the first-ever Queen’s Crown tournament that WWE has held up to this point. All the way back to August 2019, Bayley was one person in WWE that publicly made it known she would like to see a Queen Of The Ring tournament. Two years later, WWE started making progress towards this by coming up with the Queen’s Crown name by filing a trademark for it.

On the flip side, WWE previously held the King of the Ring tournament in 2019 with Baron Corbin being crowned king.

  • Goldberg Gets Revenge On Bobby Lashley At WWE Crown Jewel

WWE decided to run it back with Goldberg and Bobby Lashley with a rematch at the Crown Jewel pay-per-view event.

Goldberg had a brace on his left knee. The match started with Lashley pulling out a steel chain of his trunks and hitting Goldberg with it. Goldberg had a small cut on the top of his head. Lashley put Goldberg’s knee in between a chair and stomped on it. Lashley crashed through a table after Goldberg moved. After hitting a jackhammer, Goldberg took off his gloves and speared him through the barricade. Goldberg tried to smash Lashey’s head in with the steel steps, but Lashley moved. Shelton Benjamin and Cedric Alexander tried to attack Goldberg, but he took them out. Goldberg speared Lashley off the stage through tables for the win.

Their first match took place this past August at SummerSlam when Goldberg stepped up to challenge Lashley for the WWE Title, but the WWE Hall of Famer fell short in his attempt as the finish called for Goldberg to no longer be able to continue while selling a knee injury. Post-match, Goldberg’s son Gage came to the ring to help him, but ended up putting the young man in the hurt lock. Since that time, Goldberg has called for revenge against Lashley by vowing to kill him.

Fast forward to the October 4th edition of WWE Raw, the match was made official when Lashley accepted the challenge issued by Goldberg only if it was a no holds barred match. Goldberg accepted that demand and told Lashley that he was not only next, but also dead.

Goldberg noted that what had happened at SummerSlam was a misunderstanding. Lashley invited Gage to make the 16-hour trip to Saudi, but noted if Gage got involved again then what happened to him next would not be an accident.

Goldberg has one more match left on his current WWE deal, which will likely be saved for the next WWE event in Saudi Arabia.

Here are the takeaways from this week’s show:

    Opening Segment

    \"\"

Carmelo Hayes came out to open the show to cut a promo about how he doesn’t miss when he shoots and he’s the leader of the new school. As long as he’s the North American Champion, it’s the A-championship. He doesn’t care if anyone has a problem with it.

Johnny Gargano came out to the ring and said he had his eye on Hayes. He reminded us of his past reigns as champion. He congratulated him for the title win. He said that he has lost his way with Austin Theory and Indie Heartwell no longer with him. He said what’s next for him is going back to what he does best and that’s wrestling. He challenged Hayes for the title. Dexter Lumis appeared and a brawl nearly broke out before Trick Williams and Hayes left the ring. Gargano held the title in the ring and that ended the segment.

    Who Is The Host?

    \"\"

A singles match was booked between Grayson Waller and LA Knight to decide who will be the host of next week’s Halloween Havoc special.

The match was set up when they went back and forth on Twitter over who should be the host of the special. Once Waller lobbied to be the host of the special, Knight responded by calling Waller\’s video trash. Knight said he didn\’t even know who Waller was until 24 hours ago. Shotzi Blackheart was the host of last year\’s NXT Halloween Havoc.

The match was short in the second hour with Knight going over with his finisher.

    Andre Chase vs. Odyssey Jones

    \"\"

Andre Chase vs. Odyssey Jones in a singles match took place.

This was the first match of the night. Chase beat him down in the early going, which was interesting due to the size difference. Throughout the beatdown, Jones would use his power to kick out of the pin attempts.

Jones made his comeback with a series of suplexes. Jones with a standing splash for the win.

    Triple Threat Match

    \"\"

WWE has already confirmed that Io Shirai & Zoey Stark will defend the NXT Women’s Tag Team Titles against Persia Pirotta & Indi Hartwell, and Jacey Jayne & Gigi Dolan.

Ahead of that title showdown, WWE had a member from each team to work a triple threat match on this show. Those wrestlers were Jade, Io, and Pirotta.

The match saw the ladies have plenty of time to tell their story. Io went over with a moonsault off the top rope to Persia for the win. Post-match, Io spun the wheel revealing it would be a Scareway to Hell Ladder Match.

    Tag Team Match

    \"\"

Bron Breakker and Tommaso Ciampa vs. The Grizzled Young Veterans in a tag team match took place in the main event.

The match was set up last week on NXT by a confrontation between Ciampa and Breakker and The Grizzled Young Veterans in the back after Ciampa had beaten Joe Gacy in a non-title match.

A simple comment made by Zack Gibson when he said he and James Drake can\’t wait to watch Ciampa lose the NXT Championship to a rookie. Of course, Ciampa will make his next title defense against Breakker on next week’s episode of NXT.

Breakker won the match for his team with his finisher after getting the hot tag. Ciampa didn’t celebrate with Breakker after the match. Instead, they had a staredown.

  • Tony Khan Addresses The Photo That May Have Leaked AEW Full Gear Card

A photo of Tony Khan holding a notebook while at the Jacksonville Jaguars game was published online earlier this week with fans noticing that he had some interesting writing on it.

Fans zoomed in on it and noticed that it had the possible card for this year’s Full Gear pay-per-view event.

The AEW President talked about this during an appearance on Friday’s episode of Busted Open Radio. He started off by noting that he was doodling in the notebook and was just walking around while not thinking that someone would take photos of him and captured his notes.

\”I\’m glad it wasn\’t anything more personal. It\’s funny that people run with assumptions on the internet these days. I\’ve seen all these people jumping to conclusions that, \’oh, that must be the Full Gear card.\’”

He continued by noting that it is true that he announced the main event of Full Gear, which is Kenny Omega defending the AEW World Heavyweight Title against Hangman Adam Page.

“I just have notes and have been messing around with different ideas and playing around with stuff. You can even see, it\’s scratching around and written in pencil and been erased. I think it\’s pretty fortunate because it\’s gotten a ton of buzz and has gotten people wondering and people should be wondering. It creates more speculation and now I\’ll leave you with more questions than answers.”

The Full Gear pay-per-view event will take place on November 13, 2021 from Minneapolis, MN at the Target Center.

  • Carmelo Hayes Wins WWE NXT North American Championship

Isaiah “Swerve” Scott is no longer the WWE NXT North American Champion, but he wasn’t dethroned by Santos Escobar. Instead, it was Carmelo Hayes.

The title match took place on Tuesday’s episode of NXT 2.0 during the main event of the show. Hayes and his friend attacked members of Legado del Fantasma to help Scott retain the title over Escobar. However, Hayes attacked Scott after the match.

Hayes cashed in his Breakout Tournament contract for a title match and won the title after hitting a big boot then a leg drop.

This title change was expected as Hit Row (Scott, Ashante Adonis, Top Dolla, and B-FAB) was moved from NXT to the main roster in this year’s Draft. The group will now be featured on the SmackDown brand.

The decision to call Hit Row to the main roster was made “days earlier” before the Draft. This wrapped up the feud between Hit Row and Legado del Fantasma ( Escobar, Joaquin Wilde, Raul Mendoza and Elektra Lopez), which has been going on for the past few months.

Scott beat Bronson Reed to become the North American Champion on the May 18, 2021 episode of NXT. Scott held the title for over a 100 days.

    Diamond Mine’s Ivy Nile Wrestles

    \"\"

Diamond Mine’s Ivy Nile was in action against Valentina Feroz.. The match was a compete squash match that was totally designed to show off Nile’s athleticism.

Nile, real name Emily Andzulis and former Titan Games winner, signed with WWE in January 2020.

She has worked just two matches thus far since signing with the company including a loss to Shayna Baszler on August 3, 2020 on Raw Underground then an NXT Women’s Battle Royal on September 23, 2020.

    Title Match

    \"\"

NXT North American Champion Isaiah “Swerve” Scott defended the title against Santos Escobar.

This marked Scott\’s first title defense since winning the North American Championship from Bronson Reed.

Of course, WWE drafted Hit Row (Scott, Top Dolla, Ashante \”Thee\” Adonis & B-Fab) were drafted to SmackDown. It should be noted that the roster changes don’t go into effect until Friday, October 22.

Hit Row have been feuding with Legado del Fantasma (Escobar, Raul Mendoza, Joaquin Wilde & Elektra Lopez) for months. Last week, this bout was made official when Scott issued the match challenge.

This match was saved for the main event. Scott went over with his finisher after a fun back and forth match.

However, after it, Carmelo Hayes attacked Scott and cashed in his Breakout Tournament contract for a title match. Hayes hit a big boot to Scott then a leg drop off the top rope for the win.

    Non-Title Match

    \"\"

NXT Champion Tommaso Ciampa vs. Joe Gacy in a non-title match took place. The stipulation to go along with it was if Gacy wins, he will be added to Bron Breakker vs. Ciampa for the NXT Title at Halloween Havoc.

Just last week, WWE set up Ciampa vs. Bron as they had been building towards the challenge being made and eventually accepted.

This match opened the show and was mostly dominated by Ciampa. They went about 9 minutes with Ciampa going over with his finisher. He looked really solid. Post-match, some bald guy in a jumpsuit grabbed Gacy then let him go and disappeared. The fans were chanting “who are you?”

    Tag Team Match

    \"\"

Von Wagner and Kyle O’Reilly vs. Ridge Holland and Pete Dunne in a tag team bout was booked.

The storyline of this match being made was Dunne and Holland attacking Kyle for several weeks while Wagner has been the only one to come to his aid.

The match took place to start off the second hour and they gave them plenty of time. Kyle hit a running knee strike on the outside to take out Dunne. WWE gave the shine to Wagner, who hit his finisher to pin Holland, who was called up to the main roster as part of the draft.

  • Mick Foley Calls For Tony Khan To Book Fan Requested AEW Rematch

Mick Foley has noticed fans wanting to see All Elite Wrestling book the anticipated rematch between Thunder Rosa and AEW Women’s World Champion Britt Baker.

The WWE Hall of Famer took to Twitter to try to convince the man who can make it happen and that’s AEW President Tony Khan. It all started when Foley had an exchange with Baker after Foley posted a backstage selfie with Rosa while at the GCW Fight Club event over the weekend.

    https://twitter.com/RealMickFoley/status/1447015872120467459?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E1447015872120467459%7Ctwgr%5E%7Ctwcon%5Es1_&ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fpublish.twitter.com%2F%3Fquery%3Dhttps3A2F2Ftwitter.com2FRealMickFoley2Fstatus2F1447015872120467459widget%3DTweet

Foley called her the true women’s Hardcore Legend while also apologizing to Baker, who saw the post and responded with “Try again Mick. [face with tears of joy emoji].”

The Hardcore Legend responded by calling for Khan to help settle the argument by simply booking the bout. He wrote, “Last time I checked, Britt, it was @thunderrosa22 who picked up the W. Maybe a rematch is in order. @TonyKhan… want to help settle this argument?”

Khan has not responded to Foley’s tweet. Rosa and Baker last wrestled each other in a bloody unsanctioned main event match on an episode of Dynamite earlier this year.

In August, it was reported the promotion wanted to save the match for next year with it taking place at a pay-per-view or on a special episode of Dynamite.

Per the report, All Elite Wrestling has considered various stipulations ranging from a cage match to a hair match. Whatever stipulation is decided upon, the idea is to build it to be the biggest women’s match in company history.
