  • CM Punk On Plummeting WWE Backstage Ratings

Despite having CM Punk as the analyst and other special guests on the show, WWE Backstage has seen a decline in the ratings in recent times and just last week it made a new record for the lowest viewership in the show\’s history.

During his recent appearance on Swings & Mrs. show, the Straight Edge star talked about a number of things and also commented on the plummeting ratings of the show.

Punk said that WWE Backstage is an interesting show. He knows many people who don\’t watch it, but he is not sure if Fox officials are concerned about the ratings very much:

\”It\’s an interesting show. I know a whole bunch of people don\’t watch it, but I\’m not so sure they\’re concerned about ratings. I think they just want to have a discourse about the show and see what we can talk about to make things better in a way. I have a ton of fun with the show; me and Booker get along great. I love working with Renee.\”

CM Punk continued by mentioning how the show has allowed him to meet many WWE stars who were not in the company when he was there like Ember Moon and more.

Apart from this, the former WWE Champion also said that he would be open to a wrestling return against the right opponent. You can check out his comments about potential in-ring return at this link.

  • Baron Corbin On Performing In An Empty Arena: \”I Am Most Nervous About The Entrance\”

WWE has entered uncharted territory with their decision to broadcast shows without any audience. This leaves the performers in frenzy as they have to perform live but have no fan reaction to know how they are doing.

Baron Corbin appeared on the After The Bell podcast before last week\’s episode of SmackDown where he talked about things like the effects of coronavirus and more.

During the discussion, he also talked about WWE\’s decision to put on shows without an audience and said that the part he is most nervous about is his entrance:

\”The part I am most nervous about is the entrance because the second my music hits, everybody in that building is booing.\” said Corbin. \”For the most part I’m getting that instant reaction. These people are here to have a good time; they’re ready to have fun.

That\’s the fear everybody has is there is no reaction and now we know for a fact that there will be no reaction to what we’re doing. So it\’s really tough to wrap my mind around it.\”

Apart from this Baron Corbin also talked about his current position in the company and expressed his frustration with his current role in the promotion.

The former US Champion said that WWE officials are not giving him the ball and he wants to become a bigger star. You can check out his comments on the matter at this link.

  • ROH COO Joe Koff Confirms They Are Planning Weekly Television Series

We have seen a number of wrestling shows getting new TV deals in recent times like NXT on USA, AEW Dynamite on TNT and Impact Wrestling moving to AXS TV.

This has made many wonder if other wrestling promotions such as ROH could also be looking to launch weekly episodic TV series anytime in the near future.

During a recent interview with WrestlingInc, ROH COO Joe Koff discussed these possibilities and confirmed that they have plans for a weekly series. Though he also explained that the ripple effects of coronavirus could force them to move their plans back:

\”We are always looking at that and we have a plan on the table to look at a more weekly version. We don\’t have a start date yet but it is this year,

Those rumors are not necessarily rumors as they\’re closer to fact than not.\” said Coff. \”But we\’ll have to see how [the ripple effect of COVID-19] transpires and if they affect us moving back that date. But it\’s definitely one of our goals.\”

The ROH COO also discussed their decision to cancel all ROH shows untill May 31 saying that it\’s not just pro wrestling and the whole world is being affected right now.

He claimed that wrestling is his business and he loves it very much but the hindrance seems small compared to the bigger picture. You can check out his full interview at this link.

  • Cody Rhodes Responds To Criticism Over AEW Signing Ex-WWE Stars

While AEW officials including Cody Rhodes have taken credit for the improved pay rate of WWE talents, they have repeatedly said that the company will not be signing each and every wrestler that leaves WWE.

However, after the recent debuts of Matt Hardy and Brodie Lee, fans have once again started showing concerns over the company filling their roster with ex WWE employees.

One such fan took on his Twitter and responded to Cody Rhodes\’ tweet where he welcomed Matt Hardy to AEW, by criticising the company for bringing in more former WWE stars.

Cody Rhodes responded to this fan with a tweet and he wrote: \”Talent is talent. Merit based company. We have a great roster from all types of places (mainly blossoming independent stars). It\’s a great balance.\”

Another fan then posted a list of ex WWE employees which are working for AEW and in response; Cody Rhodes posted a list of his own featuring names who have never signed with the company. You can check out the whole exchange below:

After weeks of rumors and speculations, AEW finally revealed the name of the Exalted One and it turned out to be the former WWE Intercontinental Champion Brodie Lee.

Matt Hardy also made his debut during the same episode of Dynamite and he was revealed to be the final member of The Elite for their upcoming Blood and Guts match against the Inner Circle.

  • WWE Nixes Two WrestleMania Matches Due To Coronavirus Concerns

WWE announced recently that WrestleMania this year will be a two-night event which will be taped from multiple locations to minimize the risks amid the coronavirus outbreak.

Though this is not the only precaution the company is taking to tackle the effects of the epidemic and latest reports reveal that they have cancelled two of the planned matches for the Show Of Shows. According to Pro Wrestling Sheet, WWE has made the decision to nix Andre The Giant Memorial Battle Royal and Women\’s Battle Royal from WrestleMania this year to comply with the CDC recommendations as much as possible.

This is not the only step the company is taking and in response to a query, they had previously revealed that they have a team of physicians testing everyone entering the Performance Center.

Only the essential personnel are brought in for tapings at the Performance Center and they have also been cycling big-name talents instead of bringing them in all at once.

The decision to shoot WrestleMania from multiple locations will also help the promotion as it will prevent the need to bring all the stars under one roof at the same time.

The company has also recently revealed the match schedules for both nights of WrestleMania which you can check out at this link.

  • Backstage News On If Brodie Lee Was Always Planned To Be Revealed As The Exalted One

AEW had been teasing the reveal of the Exalted One on their programming for a while and many believed that Matt Hardy will be revealed as the leader of the cult.

However, it didn\’t turn out to be the case and former WWE star Brodie Lee was revealed as the leader of the group on the latest episode of Dynamite instead

PWinsider provides some update on the situation. They confirm that Lee was always planned to be revealed as the Exalted One, once the company confirmed that he was free of his contract and will be signing with them.

The officials leaned into the speculations of Hardy being revealed as the leader of the Dark Order to help mask the former Luke Harper\’s debut on AEW TV.

The site also notes that everyone who worked this week\’s episode of AEW Dynamite did so voluntarily. Tony Khan had already addressed the roster last week and told talents that they can sit out the upcoming shows if they want, without any repercussions.

Everyone who was present at the show including the production staff made the decision to work on the episode themselves and anyone who might have sat out would still be paid as if they worked the tapings.

The current hope within the company is to continue airing shows live every week but it\’s not guaranteed in the current situations. The officials also acknowledge the situation and they have worked precautions into this week\’s episode of the show.

  • Bray Wyatt Reacts To Brodie Lee\’s AEW Debut

This week\’s episode of AEW Dynamite saw two big debuts and one of them was the debut of former WWE Intercontinental Champion Luke Harper, now known as Brodie Lee.

The former WWE star made his debut during a segment on the show and to the surprise of many, he was revealed as the Exalted One of the Dark Order, a role many expected Matt Hardy to assume.

Bray Wyatt reacted to Brodie Lee\’s debut on their rival promotion on Twitter recently. He posted a gif of a child mentioning how he and Rowan are the only ones left now:

Luke Harper originally debuted on WWE TV as part of the Wyatt Family led by the former Universal Champion and he remained closely associated with Bray Wyatt throughout his WWE career.

He had been unhappy with his position in WWE from the last few years and Lee had even asked for his release from the company, only for his request to be denied by the officials.

The company finally released Brodie Lee from his contract in December last year and he made his AEW debut shortly after his non compete clause expired.

You can check out the debut of the newest AEW star in the video below:

  • Baron Corbin Discusses Frustration With Current WWE Role

Baron Corbin is regularly featured on WWE TV and the former US Champion is presented as one of the top heels of the company on the regular programming.

However, there doesn\’t seem to be a lot of room for advancement in his current role within the company and it appears that the Lone Wolf is frustrated with this situation.

Baron Corbin recently appeared on the After The Bell podcast where he said that he wants the spot in the company where top guys like Brock Lesnar and The Rock would want to work with him and discussed how he is frustrated in his current situation:

“I want that spot [with Lesnar and The Rock]. That’s why it’s a double-edged sword for me because you [WWE] put me up there at the top but you’re not handing me the ball.

Give me the ball, so now I’m frustrated going, ‘What do I got to do to take that?’ And then I’ve finished with Roman, so I have to cycle back through, so now I’ve got to scratch and claw to get back to that top spot.”

Elsewhere in the interview, Corbin mentioned how he has spent the last 18 months headlining live events against the likes of Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns but he still doesn\’t feel like the company has “handed him the ball” to become one of their top guys.

  • WWE Responds To Question About Talents Being Tested For Coronavirus

While WWE has scaled back its operations significantly, the company is still producing shows which means that a number of WWE personnel still have to travel and come in contact with other staff members.

This has made many wonder what precautions the company is taking and whether the staff members are tested in any way before entering the facility for the shows.

When asked about the same, the company released the following statement to Sports Illustrated, revealing that all staff members are required to participate in medical screenings prior to entering the Performance Center:

“In consultation with WWE Medical Director Dr. Maroon, WWE Associate Medical Director Dr. Dugas and ringside physician Dr. Westerfield, as a best practice and precautionary measure all WWE performers and staff are required to participate in medical screenings prior to entering WWE’s training center, which is now operating as a closed set,”

The site also notes that the company has established a series of protocols to minimize the risks and protect its staff. The protocols are based on guidelines set by the World Health Organization and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Though due to the lack of testing for people who are in need, the sources say that WWE is not testing people who are not showing symptoms of the infection.

  • Sasha Banks On Fans Not Being Able To Attend WrestleMania

Fans who were excited for WrestleMania will unfortunately not be able to attend the show this year because it has been moved to Performance Center and it appears that the former Women\’s Champion Sasha Banks understands their disappointment.

The Boss recently made an Instagram post where she addressed the WWE Universe. The former Champion said that it hurts to know that fans who planned to go to the Show Of Shows whole year won\’t be able to attend the PPV.

However, she explained that the priority right now is everyone\’s health and Sasha Banks claimed that they will do their best to put on a show which is worthy of the fans:

\”It breaks my heart to know that fans won\’t be able to attend #WrestleMania They aren\’t just there to watch the show, they\’re a part of it! But priority #1 is everyone\’s health. So on April 5th we will do our very best to put on a show worthy of our fans. Its what you deserve.\”

Sasha Banks has not been announced for WrestleMania so far but she, alongside her partner Bayley, has been involved in a rivalry with the Women\’s Tag Team Champions, The Kabuki Warriors in recent times.

While not confirmed, it\’s believed that the two will be challenging the team of Asuka and Kairi Sane for the titles at the Grandest Stage Of Them All, which has been announced to be a 2 night event this year.

  • Kurt Angle On Who Is The Best Heel In The Business

While many people consider Baron Corbin to be a boring wrestler, it appears that the former World Champion and WWE Hall Of Famer Kurt Angle believes different.

The Olympic Gold Medalist held another Q&A session from his official Facebook page recently where he answered questions like the best vacation place and more.

A fan asked which era was his favourite era of wrestling. Replying to it, Kurt Angle claimed that the Attitude Era was his favourite because it was very special and the wrestlers, fans and storylines of it were unparalleled.

Interestingly, when asked who is the best heel in the business right now, he took the name of The Lone Wolf: \”Baron Corbin is a great heel. He is genuinely hated by fans.\”

Apart from this, Kurt Angle revealed which three things he will take with him if he had to go to a deserted island and answered a question about preparing for a moonsault off the cage. You can check out his post below:

  • The Rock On How WrestleMania 18 Match With Hulk Hogan Came About

The Rock faced Hulk Hogan in one of the biggest dream matches of all time at WrestleMania 18 where the Great One defeated the Immortal in a one on one bout.

During a recent Q&A session on his official Instagram page, the Hollywood star reflected on his match with Hogan and revealed how the bout came about.

The former World Champion revealed that Vince McMahon had reached him out to take The Rock\’s opinion on bringing Hulk back into the company. This is when he first mentioned about the match between the two legends:

\”About six months before the match happened, Vince McMahon came to me and said, \’How do you feel about bringing Hulk Hogan back?\’\” recalled the Rock. \”I think Hogan had left WWE on not so great terms. He asked, \’How do you feel about bringing Hogan back?\’

I said, \’How does the locker room feel?\’ He said, \’I talked to a few locker room leaders and it\’s mixed.\’ I said, \’I love it. I think having him back is intriguing and very selfishly, I would like to wrestle him.\’ He said, \’Funny you say that. I have a match in mind. You vs. Hogan at WrestleMania.\’\”

    https://www.instagram.com/tv/B95LGfpld_O/?utm_source=ig_embed&utm_campaign=loading

According to the Rock, he loved the idea of having the match with the former face of WWE and he immediately started seeing the build-up and the intrigue for the fans in his mind.

The People\’s Champion then asked McMahon about possibly bringing back the other nWo members in Scott Hall and Kevin Nash too and Vince McMahon said that he was going to bring them back as well.

  • Will Ospreay Responds To CM Punk\’s Comments About In-Ring Return

CM Punk had recently said that he would consider a wrestling return against the right opponent and one of the names he mentioned as a potential rival he has never faced was the current NJPW star Will Ospreay.

The former IWGP Junior Heavyweight Champion responded to these comments from the former WWE Champion recently. He challenged Punk with the following tweet, while also taking a shot at his current WWE backstage gig:

    https://twitter.com/WillOspreay/status/1240260385271418882

Will Ospreay recently defeated Zack Sabre Jr to win the British Heavyweight Championship and announced moving to the heavyweight division of NJPW after spending almost 4 years in the junior heavyweight division.

CM Punk On Facing Will Ospreay

CM Punk had recently appeared on the Swing & Mrs Podcast where he had named people like John Cena and Daniel Bryan as potential opponents he would consider for a return.

When discussing opponents he never faced during his pro wrestling career, the former Champion had named Will Ospreay as one of the people he would like to wrestle with:

“For people I haven’t ever wrestled before, I think Will Ospreay, I would listen to your idea. There’s a lot of moving parts. I’m busy doing other stuff and nobody has found the right combination of ways to approach me\”

With Ospreay making his mark on NJPW, and CM Punk working on WWE Backstage, a face-off between the two in near future looks very unlikely. Though it\’s still possible if Ospreay joins WWE in future and Punk makes his return to the company.

  • Backstage News On The Status Of AEW Dynamite Next Week

This week\’s episode of AEW Dynamite created a lot of buzz with events like the reveal of the Exalted One and the debut of none other than the Broken One Matt Hardy himself.

However, the show was broadcasted without any fans in attendance due to coronavirus threats and one thing the fans noted was that throughout the episode, the graphics for future matches were listed as \’next dynamite\’ instead of \’next week\’.

This made many fans wonder if the show was going on a hiatus but. As of this writing, AEW is still scheduled to be broadcasted live on TNT next week. The production team wanted to get through this week\’s episode of the show and \”not be so arrogant as to assume\” that they will be back live on TV next week. Things are changing rapidly due to the Coronavirus outbreak. As a result, nothing is guaranteed.

The company officials, including president Tony Khan believes that the situation should not be taken for granted. They did not want to come across as if anything was guaranteed and so the decision was made to list everything for the \’next dynamite\’.

The current plan is to go forward with the show as planned if they can broadcast Dynamite next week. In case the show is postponed, the company plans to pick things up where they left off as soon as they are allowed to do so.

  • News On WWE WrestleMania Taking Place From Multiple Locations

WWE made the interesting announcement recently that WrestleMania 36 will be broadcasted in two parts on Saturday, April 4 and Sunday, April 5, from multiple locations.

The broadcast from multiple locations will actually make the production easier for WWE. The company has been very careful about having only a limited number of personnel for tapings at the performance center. This the reason why big-name talents like Edge and Randy Orton are being cycled on the show instead of making same night appearances.

WWE has taken the CDC\’s social distancing edicts very seriously and they have only brought in a restricted number of talents for the shows despite the fact that many of them live locally in the Tampa and Orlando area.

Broadcasting WrestleMania from a singular location in one day would cause a lot of production issues for the company in terms of managing so many talents, producers and staff members who would have to gather at the same place for the show.

The multiple locations will also allow the company to switch places during the broadcast and keep the show from looking and feeling \’monotonous\’.

This can also allow the company to pre-tape segments and even matches for WrestleMania since a closed set would make it easier for them to stop the spoilers from leaking.

There is no word yet on what other locations the company could use but Titan Tower and WWE HQ in Stamford, and the 3-D suite in the Performance Center are some of the locations they control and could film the show in.

They can also lean on their relationships with Fox Network or NBC Universal for assistance in finding places and possibly set material outdoors, allowing them to use pyro the fans have come to expect from the show of the caliber of WrestleMania.

  • Bret Hart: WCW \”Didn\’t Know What The Hell To Do With Me\”

The Montreal Screwjob, which was a result of Bret Hart signing a contract with WCW, is one of the most famous events in the history of professional wrestling.

However, the WCW run of the former World Champion that followed was a disappointment for many fans and despite him winning the WCW title two times during his time with the company, his tenure there is often described as lackstar.

WWE recently published a clip of Bret Hart\’s upcoming interview with Steve Austin on Broken Skull Sessions. During the interview, the wrestling veteran talked about his disappointing run with the company, saying that they didn\’t know what to do with him:

\”There was so much talent I could have worked with—Booker T, [Hulk] Hogan—I should have worked with Hogan, right away, I should have had Hulk Hogan in a sharpshooter and done some big numbers with him. I went into WCW, I had more heat

I had wrestled you at WrestleMania 13, I beat Undertaker at SummerSlam, I knocked Vince [McMahon] out, I didn\’t really lose to Shawn [Michaels].\” recalled Bret Hart. \”I had so much heat and they just didn\’t know what the hell to do with me.\”

Bret Hart had signed a three-year contract with WCW when he originally joined the company in December 1997. However, his run didn\’t last that long.

He suffered a career-ending injury during his match with Goldberg at Starrcade 1999, and his WCW contract was terminated on October 2000.

You can check out WWE\’s preview of Bret Hart on the Broken Skull Sessions below.

Here are some of Bret Hart\’s most memorable moments during his WCW run:

Tokyo Sports first broke the news of his induction earlier today and WWE has since confirmed that the Japanese Wrestling Legend will be inducted into Hall Of Fame on Thursday, April 2, at Amalie Arena in Tampa, Florida.

Liger started his wrestling career in high school as an amateur wrestler and later aspired to become a professional wrestler. But he was initially rejected by NJPW dojo because he didn\’t meet the height requirements of the academy at the time.

Though this didn\’t stop the Japanese star and he moved to Mexico for training. Liger trained in very hard conditions there and according to the wrestling star himself; he was almost starving while studying in Mexico.

He was finally accepted by NJPW dojo when some company officials visiting the country took pity on him and invited him back to Japan to train alongside other wrestlers.

Jushin made his wrestling debut in March 1984 at the age of 19. Since then, he has gone on to become one of the top junior heavyweights in the history of the business, winning the IWGP Junior Heavyweight Championship 11 times during his career.

He first made his name in the United States by making appearances for WCW in 1990 and since then, he has wrestled for companies such as ROH, Impact Wrestling and more.

Jushin \”Thunder\” Liger will be joining Batista, nWo, The Bella Twins, JBL and The British Bulldog in the Class of 2020.

  • Jon Moxley Discusses Being A \’Different Person\’ In AEW

Jon Moxley released a video of escaping a prison-like setting shortly after leaving WWE which was a metaphor of the former World Champion finally breaking out of the mental constraints of the company.

The AEW Champion recently had an interview with The Walkway to Fight Club podcast where he talked about things like retaining his WWE entrance in AEW and more.

Discussing the difference between AEW and WWE, the former WWE Champion said that his AEW character is like a \’whole different person\’ that has been sleeping or been in jail:

\”It\’s just kind of like a whole other different person that had been like sleeping or in jail or suspended. It was like Jon Moxley was serving an eight-year suspension and then he finally got reinstated,\”

The former WWE star continued by saying that it\’s hard to explain but when you are being pushed in so many different directions and saying someone else\’s words, you feel like you are not yourself anymore.

Explaining the difference between the two companies, Jon Moxley said that in AEW, he just walks out and does whatever the situation calls for, doesn\’t matter how tired he is.

Apart from this, Jon Moxley also discussed the crowds at AEW, saying that he thinks TVs don\’t do justice to how hot some of their crowds are. Check out his prison video below:

  • Sheamus On Being Skeptical About Part-Time Champions

A lot of people disliked the idea of taking the Universal Championship from Bray Wyatt and putting it on Goldberg and it appears that WWE star Sheamus is not a fan of it either.

The former WWE Champion was in Ireland last week where he talked to media and discussed things like the upcoming WrestleMania 36 event and more.

Talking about the company\’s decision of putting the world title on the 53-year-old star, Sheamus said that he is always skeptical about the champions who just pop up once in a blue moon and it\’s important to have a full-time champion:

\”I\’m always skeptical about champions who just pop up once in a blue moon, like once every six months, or once every year,\” Sheamus said. \”I think it\’s important to have your champion on every week, that\’s how I grew up watching WWE that\’s how I see it.\”

Though later in the interview, the former Champion revealed that the WrestleMania match he is looking forward to is between the WWE Champion Brock Lesnar and Drew McIntyre.

WrestleMania is scheduled to take place from the Raymond James Stadium in Tampa on April 5, 2020, but there is a possibility of Tampa officials cancelling the show if the coronavirus situation remains the same.

  • Konnor Teases The Ascension\’s Next Move After WWE Release

Konnor and Viktor, who were collectively known as The Ascension in WWE were one of the stars who were released from their contracts in December last year.

The duo have returned to the independent circuit since then and it appears that the tag team has decided what\’s next for them as they are teasing something big for the future.

Konnor was recently interviewed by WrestlingInc where he was asked if he has been contacted by any big companies and replying to it, the former WWE star claimed that they are going to be back on TV:

\”Right now I\’m kind of just enjoying the moment, but as far as offers and things like that, there\’s been some cool (stuff) that have been possibly going on, of course, you can\’t really discuss but we\’ve got some pretty cool things man that have opened up.

We haven\’t mentioned it. If we do anything, we want it to be a surprise. We will be back on TV. I\’m not gonna say with who, but it\’s gonna be great. It\’s gonna be awesome. We\’re going back to our old ways. We get to be us. It\’s gonna be awesome no doubt about it.\”

Konnor was part of the original NXT when it was branded as a reality show and when asked about his experience of the time, he described it as the worst part of his career.

The former NXT star claimed that you can ask anybody who worked on that version of NXT and they will tell you it was hell because you never knew what you were doing. You can check out his full interview at this link.

  • John Cena Watches 205 Live From Audience Stand (Video)

WWE had moved this week\’s episode of SmackDown and 205 Live to the Performance Center due to coronavirus threats and the shows were broadcasted without an audience.

John Cena who was featured in the main event segment of SmackDown took advantage of the situation and watched the broadcast of 205 Live from the audience stand.

The company later posted a video of the Cenation Leader enjoying the show. The 16 time World Champion claimed that watching wrestling live is something he has often longed to do and there is no experience like it:

\”This is something that I often longed to do—watch this done live, there\’s no experience like it, A guy like me, sometimes sticks out in the crowd. I definitely stick out in the crowd today, because I am the crowd.

But I\’m in the tech area and because of the circumstances; I get the treat of watching this live. Now, I\’m used to performing in front of a crowd, so I\’m a rookie at all this stuff. I\’m watching the pros and taking notes. This is awesome.\”

John Cena had a confrontation with his WrestleMania opponent Bray Wyatt during SmackDown and The Fiend warned the former World Champion that it\’s going to be a slaughter at the Show Of Shows.

These two will meet in a one on one match at WrestleMania 36, though it will only be possible if the event takes place as scheduled and it\’s not cancelled by the Tampa officials.

  • Becky Lynch On How WWE Locker Room Is Reacting To Coronavirus Outbreak

Coronavirus is affecting the whole world and WWE is also feeling the effects of the same. The company has moved some of its shows to the Performance Center though they have not cancelled any major events yet.
