  • Mark Henry Recalls Hanging Up On Vince McMahon During Their First Conversation

Many of the attitude-era veterans have unique and entertaining stories about how they got into the world of professional wrestling. Mark Henry is one of them. The world\’s strongest man was the most recent guest on Shot of Brandi. He discussed things such as his childhood, his weight lifting career, and more.

When Brandi asked who was his discovery committee in wrestling, Henry explained that Jim Ross had a lot to do with it. He then told a funny story of his first interaction with Vince McMahon:

\”Jim Ross had a lot to do with it. He brought me up to Vince McMahon and Vince wanted to know how does that [his weight lifting background] gonna translate to pro wrestling.\” recalled Mark Henry, \”Jim said you need to see him and meet him because the guy is kind of colorful which is short for being a clown.

The first conversation [with Vince], I get this call, I think it\’s one of my friends joking with me. \’It is Vince.\’ And I said \’Yeah right Vince\’, and I hang up on him. And I get a call back from my coach and my manager and he is like \’hey did you hang up on Vince McMahon?\’ And I was like \’that was him for real?\’ [he goes] \’Yeah, how about you take his call.\’ I was like \’all right, my bad\’\”

Thankfully the mistake didn\’t ruin things for Mark. After a successful negotiation with Mr. McMahon, Henry made his WWE debut at the age of 24 in 1994. He went on to have a two-decade-long career with the company where he is a former world heavyweight champion. Mark Henry was inducted into WWE Hall Of Fame in 2018.

And he’s so cool, and we were in there for hours working on stuff.\” said Sonya Deville, \”He’s just so helpful. And he’s always been supportive of my career and what I wanted to do.”

As an on-screen WWE authority figure, Deville was involved in the recent WWE storyline of Cleopatra’s $100 million golden egg that featured Vince McMahon. Apart from this, Sonya Deville talked about possibly following the footsteps of The Rock and John Cena to join the acting world and more.

Speaking of Sting, Khan claimed that the former WCW champion has had a great comeback, before criticising how WWE used the Icon:

“What a great comeback Sting had…it had been a while since Sting won wrestling matches…the last time we saw Sting, he wasn’t winning. Back in his last run [WWE] in the competition, they screwed him out of multiple matches, let’s be honest.

He should have been presented better, and that’s one thing I won’t back down on.\” said Tony Khan, \”Sting deserves to be treated like one of the great legends in wrestling, and I set out to do that from the beginning with him.”

After avoiding it for over two decades, Sting finally joined WWE in 2014. He stayed with the company till 2020 and wrestled a total of 4 matches for the promotion.

In the photo as seen below, the wrestling veteran is posing with a fan in a CVS pharmacy store, and in his left hand, he is holding a cane:

This new photo of Hulk Hogan contradicts some recent comments from Ric Flair. Flair on his podcast had said that the Hulkster was having some \’really bad\’ health issues.

Brooke Hogan, on the other hand, had said in October that her father was feeling great and working out in the gym at least a couple of hours every day.

Eric Bischoff had provided a similar update on the former world champion saying that he is eating as healthy as he can.

Bischoff had also stated that Hogan is doing physical therapy four or five days a week in hopes of getting some of the mobility back after going through 17 back surgeries and a couple of hip replacements in his career.

Hulk Hogan was last seen on WWE TV during the WrestleMania 37 weekend where he and the other founding members of the nWo were inducted into Hall Of Fame.

The main antagonist of the cartoon show is dubbed Uroboros. He is described as an evil fighter who uses dark forces that he doesn\’t fully understand.

Since the description or the press release doesn\’t have any mention of WWE, it\’s believed that the promotion is not involved in the project in any capacity.

An official premiere date for the Rey Mysterio vs. La Oscuridad cartoon series has not been revealed yet. Though it will surely be a treat for the fans of the wrestling veteran.

The former NXT champion\’s departure is said to be \’incredibly amicable\’. The door has been left open for both sides to work together in the future and many within WWE are hopeful about his return in the future.

    Gargano’s Future

Since his contract has expired Johnny Gargano is now free to sign with any promotion or appear on TV for any other organization.

Though after his promo on Tuesday\’s NXT, there is speculation that Gargano may take some time off from wrestling and help his wife Candice LeRae as the couple prepares to welcome their first child together in February.

Kyle O’Reilly also has his NXT contract expiring this month but there hasn\’t been a confirmation of the exact date for the same as of yet.

Johnny Gargano has not made any comments about his future plans so far. It appears that fans will have to wait for him to show up somewhere to know where his next destination is.

  • Shawn Michaels Opens Up About His New NXT Role

When Shawn Michaels originally started working behind the scenes in NXT, he only intended to help out the talents improve their presentation. However, HBK has not only found himself doing much more than he originally thought, but he has had to practically run things in the absence of Triple H. If the added responsibilities weren\’t enough alone, Michaels has had to lead the brand in one of the toughest times, as it tries to forge a new identity for itself after the rebranding.

Shawn opened up about his newfound responsibilities during a chat with TVinsider. He disputed the notion that NXT 2.0 is a Vince McMahon and Bruce Prichard production:

“I started out doing two hours a day, three days a week. Now I’m doing it about 23 hours a day, seven days a week. People out there thinking it’s all Vince McMahon and Bruce Prichard type of production. They just are the ones who gave us the direction of what it is they wanted from NXT going into the future. It is still all the team Hunter [Triple H] put in place doing it here.\”

Shawn Michaels Has Learned Things He Never Thought He Would

    \"Shawn
Shawn Michaels greeted Kyle O\’Reilly and Johnny Gargano after NXT

Shawn Michaels also discussed how he has had to take over the responsibilities of Triple H. The game underwent a heart procedure in September and he has been focusing on his health since then. The former world champion explained how he has found a greater appreciation for everything his DX partner did as the in-charge of NXT:

\”I love learning and growing in the different aspects of WWE, but I have a greater appreciation for everything he took on. I now understand how you cannot return a text when you get it. I’ve never had so many emails, learning computer stuff. Things I swore I would never want to do. But have since learned to do that. It has been a blast. To be able to step in for my friend is my honor to do.”

  • Eddie Kingston Doesn’t Respect “Big Swiss Idiot” Cesaro

Eddie Kingston is known to include real-life situations in his rivalries. His recent on-screen interactions with CM Punk were a great example of how Kingston can use genuine emotions to elevate a feud. The AEW star opened up about the tension between him and the former WWE star during a recent interview with News 12.

During the talk, Kingston also took shots at WWE star Cesaro. He claimed that they are going to have a problem if the Swiss Superman ever finds his way to AEW:

\”There is certain people in wrestling I do not like. Punk is one, Cesaro is another one. The big Swiss idiot at WWE. Whatever, I don\’t like him, I don\’t respect him. If he ever comes here, we are gonna have a problem. Whenever his contract is up, I don\’t really pay attention to what he does.\”

Eddie Kingston has a long history with Cesaro. The two feuded with each other numerous times in the independent circuit. They faced off in promotions such as Chikara, CZW and ROH. • MJF Responds To Being Referenced On Raw: \”I\’m Not Mad\”

The war of words between AEW and WWE has reached a new level in the past few weeks with both sides acknowledging each other in various promos. It all started when MJF and CM Punk delivered an instant classic promo on Dynamite a couple of weeks ago. One of the most noteworthy moments of this battle was when Punk dubbed MJF as a \’less famous Miz.\’

This prompted a response from WWE on the following Raw episode. In an exchange of their own, Edge told the Miz that he has got people in other companies saying his name for a cheap reaction. MJF was asked about this reference in a recent interview with Sports Illustrated. The fastest rising star of pro wrestling said that he is not mad:

MJF Says He Might Be Working With Edge In 2024

“They’re just trying to make their show the best they possibly can I’m not mad, I completely understand it. And who knows, I might be working with those two guys in 2024.

And that line by Punk about me being a ‘less famous Miz,’ that resonated because people used to actually think that. But I’m smart enough to know better. My match last month at Full Gear against Darby Allin proved otherwise. I am equally as outstanding in the ring as I am on the stick. That match with Darby proved I’m anything but one-dimensional.”

MJF and CM Punk have continued their verbal feud since the fiery promo. The promotion is building towards a match between these two but they haven\’t confirmed a destination for the same. The Miz and Edge on the other hand are set to battle each other at the upcoming Day 1 PPV on January 1, 2022.

  • Watch Shawn Michaels Greeting Johnny Gargano And Kyle O\’Reilly After NXT

Shawn Michaels has been a mentor for many NXT stars that have gotten through the brand over the last few years, including Johnny Gargano and Kyle O\’Reilly.

The close bond among these stars was visible when they greeted each other after this week\’s episode of the show went off air.

The show ended with Gargano delivering an emotional speech about his future. After the cameras stopped rolling, Michaels came out and shared a moment with both Gargano and O\’Reilly as seen below:

    https://twitter.com/covalent_tv/status/1468442791067926533
    https://twitter.com/kimberlasskick/status/1468426574131302401

Both Johnny Gargano and Kyle O\’Reilly\’s WWE contracts expire this month. There has been a lot of speculation on what\’s next for these stars.

They were brought to a SmackDown episode last month. Latest reports suggest that the officials have offered them multi-year deals to stay with the promotion.

Though like the other recent NXT departures such Adam Cole and Bobby Fish, many believe that Johnny Gargano and Kyle O\’Reilly are both likely to be heading to AEW once done with their WWE obligations.

Now this emotional greeting with Shawn Michaels has added another layer to the belief that Gargano and O\’Reilly are leaving and it\’s only a matter of time before we see them on AEW TV.

  • Adam Cole On If There Is A Divide In The AEW Locker Room

AEW signed a lot of relatively unknown guys when the promotion originally started such as Jungle Boy or Darby Allin. They have done an incredible job of putting over many of these talents and making them megastars. The promotion has also brought in a number of well-established names in recent months. These names such as Adam Cole or Bryan Danielson have helped the company in accelerating their growth and get things to the next level.

However, these signings have made it easier to divide the talents into two groups. During his recent interview with Barstool Rasslin\’, Adam Cole was asked if this divide between the recent signees and day 1 talents exists behind the scene as well. Or if all the stars feel like they are a part of the team once they are there. Replying to it, Cole said that the AEW locker room feels like a team in every sense of the word:

\”It very much feels like the \’you\’re one of us\’ thing. It very much feels like a team in every sense of the word. That was one of the more attractive things to me as well about AEW. You look at veterans. Guys who\’ve been doing this for a long time and you think, \’Man, it\’d be really, really fun to work with this guy.\’ And then you look at the young crew of guys like Jungle Boy, Sammy, MJF, Darby, and you\’re like, \’Man, I could do some really, really cool stuff with these guys.\’ It very much feels like a team effort. \”

Adam Cole Feels The Fans Are Connected To AEW

    \"Adam
    (via AEW)

Adam Cole continued by explaining that this feeling goes much further than just the talents that have been signed by the promotion. According to him, the fans in many ways feel like they\’re a part of the AEW team too. This is where AEW\’s incredible connection with its fanbase comes from:

\”And that goes so much further than just the locker room. It feels that same way with the fans too. AEW has done something so special. I feel like years and years and years and years and years from now people are going to talk about [it, like] \’Man, remember when AEW started?\’ It\’s a really special time and the locker room knows that. So, we are all connected in that sense, and the fans know it too. And I feel like that\’s where the connection comes from as well.\”

  • Adam Cole Calls AEW Debut His Favorite Night of His Career

People had been waiting for Adam Cole to show up in AEW ever since the promotion kicked off. Though some of them were disappointed with the way it happened at All Out earlier this year.

There were fans who believed that Cole\’s debut was overshadowed by the arrival of Bryan Danielson only minutes later. However, the former NXT champion loved how the double debuts unfolded. Cole was asked if the rapid fire debuts made him uncomfortable during his recent appearance on Brandon Walker’s Rasslin podcast.

Adam Cole did not feel overshadowed by Bryan Danielson debuting minutes after he did. In fact, he loved every second of it.

\”I loved every second of it,” he said. ”Because there is this mentality, I think that some people can fall into. Where you go \’I\’m making a huge appearance and a huge debut. And I want it to just be me.\’ You can understand the argument of like, \’oh man, but you know, let\’s spread it out a little bit. Let\’s make this night, a really big night\’,

And then a couple of weeks down the line cause we had the Arthur Ashe show a few weeks down the line and then maybe do this debut here. When the idea was pitched to have us debut at the same time. I immediately was like, \’we need to do it this way.\’ Just for the sheer excitement and unexpected nature of the whole thing.\”

\”It\’s my favorite night of my career,” Cole said. “The sheer buzz within the building. I\’ve never felt the whole process of flying into a different city the night before. Getting dropped off in the middle of the show, hiding in a trailer all day. Going out absolute last minute, having the locker room be like \’Oh, whoa, whoa, okay, Cole\’s here, I guess.\’ the whole thing was just, it was awesome. I loved the double debut.\”
