WWE veteran AJ Styles called out the Stamford-based promotion to push a highly popular name who returned on SmackDown recently. He is none other than Chad Gable. The former Olympian had been going under the Original El Grande Americano gimmick for a long time and had been engaged with the other El Grande Americano, who adopted the gimmick after Gable got injured.

The two masked stars delivered one of the greatest in-ring matches at the recent AAA Noche de Los Grandes event. Gable lost the ‘Mask vs Mask’ match and unmasked to return to his old persona. In the recent edition of his podcast, Phenomenally Retro, AJ Styles said that Gable was a bigger star than he ever was and WWE should capitalize on his momentum rather than let it go to waste.

“I think he’s a bigger superstar than he’s ever been at this very moment. If we don’t capitalize, and I say we because I’m part of WWE, we don’t capitalize on this, we’re dumb. We’re dummies.”

The fans had really applauded his work as the masked luchador El Grande Americano. Moreover, at the end of the bout, Gable vowed to make his return to AAA in the future.

Chad Gable returned to WWE television

After losing the Mask vs Mask match, Chad Gable made his first appearance on the June 5 episode of Friday Night SmackDown that took place in Italy. He appeared in a backstage segment with General Manager Nick Aldis. The former WWE Tag Team Champion then approached the reigning AAA Cruiserweight Champion Rey Fenix and apologized for his actions and behavior towards lucha libre and its high-flying and captivating competitors.

Moreover, it also hinted at the fact that Gable and Fenix could square off in the ring in the near future. With Gable returning to his old personality and now a part of the blue brand, it will be interesting to see what happens next in his WWE career.
