Slammiversary shook up the top of the card and the backstage structure. Here’s the weekend in TNA.

Nic Nemeth dethrones Mike Santana in Boston

Nic Nemeth is the new TNA World Champion. At Slammiversary 2026 from Agganis Arena in Boston, Nemeth beat Mike Santana with the Danger Zone after Ryan Nemeth’s interference, with Santana getting busted open by the Call Your Shot trophy along the way.

More in our writeup of Nic Nemeth becoming a two-time TNA Champion at Slammiversary.

Mike Santana reportedly WWE-bound

The title loss may have closed Santana’s TNA chapter. Dave Meltzer indicated on Wrestling Observer Radio that a WWE move “appears” all but certain, noting Santana already tried AEW and is at the stage where he has to take the swing. Nothing’s official, so treat it as reporting rather than a done deal.

Road Dogg starts in TNA creative

Brian James, better known as Road Dogg, was backstage at Slammiversary and began his TNA creative role this week. Eric Bischoff endorsed the hire hard on 83 Weeks, calling him the most qualified person available for the job while cautioning that real creative change takes one to two years, not months.

Konnan update after health battle

Konnan, announced for the TNA Hall of Fame at Slammiversary, is reportedly improving. Per Dave Meltzer, his condition is no longer life-threatening, though he remains in rough shape and rehab is ongoing. Vince Russo previously reported Konnan underwent a double leg amputation, and WWE was said to have covered his medical bills. His induction takes place at Bound for Glory in October.

This is a sensitive, developing situation, and details are coming secondhand through reports. We’ll update as more is confirmed.

Knockouts TV Title tournament begins

TNA has confirmed a tournament to crown the first-ever Knockouts Television Champion, getting underway this week. Hall of Famer Traci Brooks introduced the title at Slammiversary, with a 16-woman bracket starting Thursday on iMPACT.
