Baron Corbin’s potential return to WWE is back in the headlines.

Tom Pestock, who spent over a decade in WWE as Baron Corbin before departing in 2024, has been working in the independent scene in recent years, most notably with MLW as Bishop Dyer. Back in May, reports indicated that Pestock had wrapped up his outside commitments and was set to head back to WWE. Pestock pushed back on parts of those reports at the time but notably never came out and said he wasn’t returning.

The speculation has been reignited by a new storyline in MLW. This past weekend on the promotion’s Fusion program, MLW kicked off a “Bishop Dyer contract dispute” angle. The company is set to reveal the fate of its tag team titles, currently held by Dyer and Donovan Dijak as The Skyscrapers, on this weekend’s edition of Fusion, which premieres Saturday, July 4.

Adding fuel to the fire, a Fightful Select report claimed that Dyer and Dijak finished up their MLW work at a May 9 taping in Chattanooga, Tennessee. Given the timing of the on-screen contract dispute, it appears MLW may be nearing the end of the material it taped that month.

Fightful was also among the outlets behind last month’s WWE return reports, stating that Pestock’s comeback had been “heavily talked about” within the company he called home from 2012 to 2024.
