Take-Two CEO Says WWE 2K Could Triple In Size

Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick believes the WWE 2K franchise has plenty of room left to grow, telling IGN the series could eventually be “double or triple the size that it is” if it keeps delivering for players.

The comments follow Take-Two’s fourth-quarter and full fiscal year 2026 earnings report, which showed WWE 2K26 recurrent consumer spending up 20% year-over-year, with more than 85 million matches played. That figure is a 7% increase over WWE 2K25.

WWE 2K26 launched March 13, 2026, with then World Heavyweight Champion CM Punk on the standard edition cover. The game is developed by Visual Concepts and published under Take-Two’s 2K label.

Zelnick credited the partnership with WWE parent TKO Group and praised the company’s leadership.

“We have great partners at TKO led by Nick Khan. And of course everything related to WWE continues to grow,” he said. “The team over there is just crushing it. So we’re thrilled to be in business with TKO and WWE.”

He framed the growth ceiling as a challenge for the development team rather than a finished job.

“I do think there’s ongoing opportunities to improve the quality of the game. I do think that we can give consumers more of what they want. And I know our team at Visual Concepts always wants to do better.”

Zelnick added that the company avoids resting on past results.

“We’re never in the business of patting ourselves on the back. We believe that arrogance is the enemy of continued success.”

The CEO then laid out the upside he sees for the franchise.

“I think that title could be double or triple the size that it is as long as we delight consumers, and as long as we give them something new and not expected that’s consistent with the brand that they love. That’s our job.”

  • Cody Rhodes Reveals Nintendo Cease and Desist Over Zelda Gear

Cody Rhodes Reveals Nintendo Cease and Desist Over Zelda Gear

Cody Rhodes revealed that Nintendo sent him a cease and desist letter over Zelda-inspired gear he wore during his original WWE run. The Undisputed WWE Champion opened up about the gaming tribute during an appearance on the What Do You Wanna Talk About podcast with Kit Wilson.

Rhodes wore Triforce symbols from The Legend of Zelda franchise on his wrestling boots in 2013 during his first WWE tenure. The symbol represented more than just a gaming reference for The American Nightmare, who has a Triforce tattoo on his ring finger.

Rhodes posted a photo of the Triforce boots himself on X in October 2013, before Nintendo’s lawyers came calling.

While showing Wilson the tattoo, Rhodes explained how he connected the Triforce’s themes of power, courage, and wisdom to professional wrestling. He broke down the meaning behind each element of the symbol.

“I live that s***, dog. I thought [about] the principles of the Triforce, which are power, courage, and wisdom. For those who don’t know, Zelda’s the wise one, obviously Link is the one who’s got the courage, and power is Ganon. They make up the three parts of the Triforce. That’s the whole deal,” Rhodes said.

Rhodes Connects Triforce to Wrestling Mentality

The current Undisputed WWE Champion explained how those principles applied directly to the competitive nature of sports entertainment. Rhodes connected the symbol’s meaning to the physical and mental demands of professional wrestling.

“And I just liked the idea of thinking and leaning towards your own wisdom, or what you’ve learned and applying it, of being ambitious and wanting to be powerful, if you can, in a world that’s competitive, of sports and sports entertainment, and then having the courage to do it. Here you are, you’re taking a dive, you bust your elbow. You’re gonna decide to take the dive the next night, and you bust your elbow even further. I thought it was just applicable,” he explained.

Despite the personal connection Rhodes had to the symbol, Nintendo eventually noticed the tribute. The gaming company sent him a cease and desist letter regarding the Triforce imagery on his boots.

“I also got a cease and desist from Nintendo. It was very kind, they weren’t… it was polite, they weren’t coming after anybody, I’m not the first guy to have the Triforce,” Rhodes revealed.

Rhodes is currently in his third reign as Undisputed WWE Champion after defeating Drew McIntyre on the March 6 episode of SmackDown in Portland, Oregon. He successfully defended the title against Randy Orton at WrestleMania 42 Night 2.

  • WWE Files New Video Game Trademark For ‘Superstar Scramble’

WWE Files New Video Game Trademark For ‘Superstar Scramble’

WWE has filed a new trademark application with the United States Patent and Trademark Office for “WWE Superstar Scramble,” with the goods and services description indicating the term is intended for a video game.

The application covers a broad set of gaming categories, ranging from video and computer game software and downloadable titles to online games and “coin-fed amusement gaming machines.” That last line is notable, since it points to a potential arcade application alongside conventional home and mobile use.

The full description filed with the USPTO reads:

“Video and computer game tapes, video and computer game discs, video and computer game cassettes, video and computer game cartridges, video and computer game CD-roms, video output game machines for use with televisions; video and computer game software; video games for use with wireless devices; online video games; video games for use via a global computer network and wireless devices; coin-fed amusement gaming machines; interactive video game programs and computer game cartridges; interactive multimedia computer games on all platforms comprised of computer hardware and computer game software; electronic games that involves interaction with a user interface to generate visual feedback on a video device.”

The “Superstar Scramble” name echoes the Championship Scramble concept, a multi-competitor match format WWE used in the late 2000s in which the title could change hands several times within a single bout.

Another Gaming Trademark For WWE In 2026

The filing is the latest in a string of gaming-focused trademark applications from WWE this year. In February, the company filed for “WWE Domination,” “WWE Generations,” and “WWE Eras Collide,” each carrying similar video game language. WWE 2K26 launched globally on March 13 with CM Punk on the cover.

Trademark applications do not confirm a product is in active development. WWE routinely files trademarks to secure intellectual property and protect potential brand uses across its programming, merchandise, and digital platforms.

  • Fans Rally for Paige WWE 2K26 DLC After WrestleMania Return

Fans Rally for Paige WWE 2K26 DLC After WrestleMania Return

Paige’s shock return at WrestleMania 42 has fans pushing hard for her to be added to WWE 2K26, with social media campaigns targeting the game’s upcoming WrestleMania 42 Pack DLC.

After eight years away from a WWE ring, Paige replaced an injured Nikki Bella on Night 1 at Allegiant Stadium and teamed with Brie Bella to capture the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship. She pinned Alexa Bliss with the RamPaige to cap the fatal four-way, marking her first WWE title win since August 2014.

The moment immediately reshaped fan wishlists for 2K’s post-launch content. With Paige signing a multi-year deal and returning as champion, players have flooded social feeds asking 2K to add her likeness, entrance, and updated attire to WWE 2K26.

    WrestleMania 42 Pack Details

The WrestleMania 42 Pack is a separate drop from Ringside Pass Season 2, which launched April 15 with Demolition’s Ax, Smash, and Crush plus Kelly Kelly. According to 2K, the WrestleMania 42 Pack will include the Night 1 and Night 2 arenas along with three WrestleMania 42 Superstar Persona Cards.

The pack is automatically delivered to Monday Night War Edition owners and will also be available for standalone purchase. An exact release date has yet to be announced.

    Fan Wishlist Takes Shape

Paige leads the unofficial fan wishlist, but she is far from the only name circulating. Requests have poured in for updated Liv Morgan attire, Roman Reigns’ Tribal Chief gear from his WrestleMania 42 run, and CM Punk’s WrestleMania 42 outfit as potential Persona Card additions.

Fan mockups featuring silhouetted roster slots have spread across wrestling gaming communities, speculating on which three Personas 2K will pick from a weekend packed with memorable moments. The pack format favors quick-turnaround additions that can reuse existing in-game models.

2K has not publicly responded to the Paige campaign, and there is no confirmation she is under consideration. The Ringside Pass roadmap through Season 6 already includes Brie Bella as a Season 5 addition, but no 2K26 slot for Paige has been announced.

  • WWE 2K26: Jelly Roll Confirmed with 80 Overall Rating

WWE and 2K Games unveiled the full roster ratings for WWE 2K26 on Thursday, and as is tradition, the numbers wasted no time igniting passionate debate across social media.

The highly anticipated ratings reveal — hosted by Joe Tessitore, Big E, and Kevin Owens — covered the entire playable roster ahead of the game\’s March 13, 2026 release on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC.

Jey Uso Rated Above AJ Styles

Among the more talked-about ratings, Jey Uso checked in at an 91 overall, placing him above veterans like AJ Styles, a placement that drew mixed reactions online.

While Uso has undeniably been one of WWE\’s hottest babyfaces over the past year, many fans questioned whether the \”Main Event\” star\’s stock has truly surpassed that of \”The Phenomenal One,\” who has logged over two decades of elite in-ring work across multiple major promotions.

    Jelly Roll Outranks Established Superstars

Perhaps no rating generated more conversation than that of celebrity addition Jelly Roll, the Grammy-nominated rapper and country singer confirmed as a playable character in the game\’s Celebrities category.

The Nashville-born artist was assigned an 80 overall — higher than several full-time, full-time roster members, including rising star Je\’Von Evans, who received a 78.

\”The Young OG\” has been building momentum on WWE\’s main roster with notable victories over names like Rey Mysterio and AJ Styles. Fans and fellow WWE talent alike took to social media to express frustration, with many arguing that a performer logging nights in the ring week in and week out deserves recognition over a celebrity appearance, regardless of how beloved Jelly Roll may be.

    Another Year…

Ratings controversies are essentially a WWE 2K rite of passage at this point. Every year, the reveal cycle generates its own wave of debates, memes, and hot takes — and in many ways, that engagement is part of the fun.

With Super John Cena rated a perfect 100 overall in the game, and the full roster now public, fans will have plenty to dissect between now and launch day.

WWE 2K26 hits shelves and digital storefronts on March 13, 2026.

  • Wade Barrett Explains How He Trolls Michael Cole and Joe Tessitore on Commentary

Wade Barrett has pulled back the curtain on his commentary style — and it turns out that making his broadcast partners uncomfortable is less of a happy accident and more of a deliberate strategy.

Speaking with Denise Salcedo at the WWE 2K26 Creator Fest, the former Intercontinental Champion and current Raw commentator broke down the philosophy behind some of his more eyebrow-raising lines on air.

\”My favorite is when I\’ve got Michael Cole or Joe Tessitore next to me and I can make them blush,\” Barrett said. \”I\’ve always got to have some sort of plausible deniability behind whatever controversial line I\’m saying. \’No, that\’s not how I meant it. I meant it this way. But you\’ve taken it in the way that has obviously embarrassed you.\’\”

Barrett went further, essentially elevating the bit into a professional mandate.

\”Trying to embarrass Joe Tessitore and Michael Cole — that\’s part of the main role of my job, I think, at this point,\” he said.

He also acknowledged that the reaction from his partners doubles as a real-time quality indicator for how a line will land online.

\”If I hit something like that, I know probably the internet and social media are going to like the line,\” Barrett said.

It\’s a dynamic that fans have long suspected, and Barrett — with characteristic deadpan confidence — confirmed it outright. The built-in deniability gives him cover on live television, while the blush from Cole or Tessitore signals he\’s found the mark.

Barrett has worked alongside Michael Cole and Joe Tessitore across multiple commentary configurations in recent years, including their current pairing on Raw.

His commentary style has generated genuine moments of controversy along the way — most notably his comment about Nikki Bella at WWE Clash in Paris, which he later addressed publicly after it drew criticism from the WWE Hall of Famer herself.

The Creator Fest interview also touched on the challenge of recording commentary for WWE 2K26, where Barrett described having to manufacture arena-level energy from his bedroom at 9 a.m., with nothing but a headset and a cup of coffee.

Barrett confirmed he is one of the commentary voices in the game, which launches March 13 on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC.

  • WWE 2K26 Licenses ‘Miseria Cantare’ for CM Punk Showcase

For years, fans have modded AFI\’s \”Miseria Cantare\” into WWE 2K games to recreate CM Punk\’s legendary Ring of Honor entrance. Now, WWE 2K26 is making it official.

According to an exclusive TechRadar interview with 2K\’s MyRise lead, the developer paid to license AFI\’s iconic track for a dedicated 2003 ROH-era version of CM Punk that players can unlock through MyRise mode. It marks the first time \”Miseria Cantare\” has appeared in any officially licensed WWE video game.

What Miseria Cantare Means to CM Punk Fans

\”Miseria Cantare (The Beginning)\” served as Punk\’s entrance theme during his run in Ring of Honor in the early-to-mid 2000s, becoming synonymous with his rebellious, straight-edge persona.

The song returned to the wrestling spotlight at AEW Revolution 2022, when Punk used it for his dog collar match entrance against MJF as a callback to his indie roots.

The moment reminded a new generation of fans just how deeply the AFI track is tied to Punk\’s identity. Its inclusion in WWE 2K26 now bridges his pre-WWE legacy with his current run as World Heavyweight Champion and the game\’s cover star.

2K Goes All-In on CM Punk Authenticity

The Miseria Cantare license is part of a broader commitment to Punk\’s legacy in WWE 2K26. The game features a dedicated Showcase mode titled \”Punked – CM Punk\’s Personal Journey,\” narrated by Punk himself, spanning career highlights, \”What If?\” scenarios, and Fantasy Warfare dream matches.

On top of the Showcase, the unlockable ROH-era Punk with his authentic AFI entrance gives players access to a version of the character that community modders have been building themselves for years. Other MyRise unlocks include Polka Dot Dusty Rhodes.

WWE 2K26 launches March 13, 2026 on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PC, and Nintendo Switch 2, with early access beginning March 6 for premium edition buyers. The game boasts a roster of over 400 playable wrestlers, new match types including I Quit and Inferno, and four distinct cover editions.

  • WWE 2K26 Confirms Adam Pearce & Nick Aldis As Playable Characters

WWE 2K26 has officially confirmed that Monday Night RAW general manager Adam Pearce and Friday Night SmackDown general manager Nick Aldis will be playable characters in the upcoming game. This marks the first time both have been available in playable roles after previously appearing only as NPCs in earlier editions.

2K revealed the playable characters on February 15, 2026, through the official WWE Games social media accounts with first-look footage showing both GMs with custom entrances.

Aldis appears in his iconic red wrestling tights with \”God Save the King\” as his entrance theme, while Adam Pearce sports ROH-style attire. The caption on the Pearce video suggests a potential connection to the game\’s CM Punk Showcase mode.

    Wrestling Backgrounds

While both serve as authority figures in WWE, neither has competed regularly for the company.

Aldis, 39, has never wrestled for WWE, with his last in-ring appearance dating back to an indie wrestling event in 2023.

Pearce, 47, wrestled two matches in 2021 — defeating Daniel Bryan, King Corbin, Rey Mysterio, Sami Zayn, and Shinsuke Nakamura in a Universal Championship Number 1 Contendership Gauntlet on the January 8, 2021 episode of SmackDown, and losing in a tag team match with Braun Strowman against The Hurt Business on the March 1, 2021 episode of RAW, which marked his final wrestling appearance.

WWE 2K26 is scheduled for general release on March 13, 2026, and will feature one of the largest rosters in WWE video game history with over 400 playable characters.

  • AJ Lee Scanned for WWE 2K26, First Game in Over a Decade

AJ Lee revealed on Instagram Stories that she was secretly scanned for WWE 2K26 several months ago, confirming her first appearance in a WWE video game since WWE 2K15 launched in late 2014.

    https://media.sescoops.com/uploads/2026/02/\"WWE

The former Divas Champion shared a photo from inside a body-scanning rig, writing: \”Secretly got scanned for @wwegames a few months back. Game AJ looks so legit. 14-year-old AJ\’s mind is still blown to go from Character Creation menu to an actual playable character in two different decades of 2k haha what is life.\”

Lee will appear as a playable character on the Raw roster, with a classic AJ Lee \’15 version also listed as part of the Legend roster. This marks only the fourth time she has been a playable character in a mainline WWE game, following WWE \’13, WWE 2K14, and WWE 2K15.

CM Punk first revealed AJ Lee\’s entrance in the game during a social media takeover of the WWE Games account on February 9, writing: \”Your passion changed the industry. Now it lives on in the game. Proud doesn\’t even cover it.\” This marks the first time Lee has been modeled using next-gen graphics.

AJ Lee is also featured in the game\’s CM Punk Showcase mode. The mode includes a recreation of the CM Punk and AJ Lee vs. Seth Rollins and Becky Lynch mixed tag match from WrestlePalooza, as well as a \”What If?\” scenario pairing Punk and Lee against The Miz and Maryse. Players can also choose AJ Lee in the new Showcase Gauntlet mode, where she can face all 20 Showcase opponents consecutively to unlock every reward in the mode.

Lee returned to WWE in September 2025 after over a decade away and is currently in a program with Becky Lynch heading into Elimination Chamber. WWE 2K26 is scheduled to release on March 13, 2026.

  • Wrestling Code Trademark Lapse Sparks Cancellation Fears

Fans of The Wrestling Code feared the worst this week when United States Patent and Trademark Office records showed the indie game\’s trademark had lapsed and been marked \”dead/abandoned.\”

The status change on serial number 88893652 for video game software owned by Virtual Basement LLC sparked immediate concern on social media that the long-delayed crowdfunded project had quietly been cancelled.

    https://media.sescoops.com/uploads/2026/02/\"Wrestling

    Developer Addresses Trademark Status

Virtual Basement developer Jamie moved quickly to calm fan concerns with a message to the game\’s community. Jamie explained the lapse reflects an automated USPTO status change rather than project cancellation, noting that the trademark had been applied for and would be \”officially given\” to the team once The Wrestling Code is released.

    https://media.sescoops.com/uploads/2026/02/\"The

Renewal paperwork has already been filed, though Jamie acknowledged the process \”can take 6 months\” to complete. The clarification came after days of mounting concern from backers who had supported the project through its multi-year development cycle.

    Part-Time Development Explained

Jamie also addressed Virtual Basement\’s extended silence on project updates. The studio has only been able to work on The Wrestling Code part-time while completing a separate contract game. The developer expects the team to return to full-time work on the wrestling title \”soon.\”

Despite the reduced schedule, development has continued. As of 2025, the game had progressed far enough for Virtual Basement to plan beta testing sign-ups at New England Fan Fest, following earlier tech demo footage that showcased in-ring systems and presentation elements.

    What The Game Promises

The Wrestling Code is being built in Unreal Engine as a simulation-style wrestling game focused on independent and legend talent rarely featured in licensed titles. Virtual Basement has promoted features including a Promotion Manager/GM-style mode and planned beta access for community supporters.

The project positions itself as an alternative to big-budget series like WWE 2K, leaning heavily on grassroots support during its extended development timeline. Jamie thanked backers for their patience and said the team \”can\’t wait to share some of the stuff\” they\’ve been building once full-time development resumes.

  • Paul Heyman Wants WWE 2K26 to Steal Players from Fortnite, Call of Duty

Paul Heyman says WWE 2K26\’s goal isn\’t just to appeal to wrestling fans – it\’s to steal players from gaming giants like Fortnite and Call of Duty.

In an interview with Fightful\’s Sean Ross Sapp, Heyman explained WWE\’s ambitious vision for the upcoming video game and why he avoids letting his own nostalgia influence the product.

\”I would like to steal people from other video game franchises. I\’d like to entice people to not play Fortnite, but to play WWE 2K26. I would like to entice people not to play Call of Duty, but to play WWE 2K26. So, it\’s not just a matter of, ooh, what would happen if I put Lou Thesz and Bruno Sammartino and Brock Lesnar in a triple threat match together? It\’s more of what can appeal to today\’s gamer audience.\”

    Heyman Avoids Personal Fantasy Booking

The WWE creative leader acknowledged the generational gap between himself and the typical gamer, which is why he focuses on what appeals to the gaming audience rather than his own preferences.

\”If I were to do that, then I\’m living out my own fantasies within the video game and I am maybe a couple of weeks, months, maybe even a year or two older than the typical gamer that\’s out there today. So, because of that, I try not to play to my own fantasy booking. I tried to play to the audience\’s fantasy booking and not just the WWE audience, but the video game audience itself.\”

\’The Last Thing a Video Game Wants to Be Is Back in the Day\’

Heyman emphasized that modern gaming demands a forward-thinking approach rather than dwelling on nostalgia.

\”The last thing a video game wants to be is back in the day. Video games want to be this is the future. This is what gets people to stay at home and never leave. And if they do leave, they\’re playing it on their phone 24/7. That\’s the thing – 24/7, 365 engagement and interaction and immersive experience into a video game like no other.\”

He compared the gaming industry to fashion, where being a \”throwback\” is a death sentence.

\”It\’s like the fashion business. You don\’t want to be a throwback. You want to be fashion forward.\”

WWE 2K26 launches March 13 with CM Punk as the cover star.

  • CM Punk Picks Sensational Sherri, Raven for WWE 2K26 DLC Roster

CM Punk has named Sensational Sherri and Raven as his top picks for WWE 2K26 DLC characters, praising both legends for their lasting impact on professional wrestling.

In an interview with Complex, the WWE 2K26 cover star was asked which wrestlers he\’d like to see added to the game\’s already massive roster of over 400 playable characters.

\”For women, I think Sensational Sherri would be super cool. Because she was just such a badass. And I think you look back at her career and the stuff she did, whether it was in the ring or whether she was somebody\’s manager or whatever, like stuff holds up.\”

For the men\’s roster, Punk selected Raven due to his versatility across multiple wrestling eras and promotions.

\”I don\’t know if Raven\’s in the game. I think he\’s a good one because he\’s a guy who, you know, so many different incarnations over so many different decades. Like, you could have fun with that. Like, yeah, he could be Raven, he could be Johnny Polo, he could be Scotty the Body.\”

Showcase Mode Features Eddie Guerrero Dream Match

Punk headlines the WWE 2K26 Showcase mode titled \”Punked – CM Punk\’s Personal Journey,\” which includes both career highlights and \”what if?\” scenarios. Among the featured matches is a dream encounter with Eddie Guerrero that never happened in a WWE ring.

When discussing Guerrero\’s work ethic, Punk shared his admiration for the late legend\’s approach to every match.

\”You show up, you do the job, and you work hard. That\’s all Eddie did. There was never any talk of \’we\’re going to put on this five-star classic.\’ You work with what you have to the best of your ability. Whether it was the Tokyo Dome, a barn in Indianapolis, or WrestleMania—he always gave 100% in the ring.\”

Punk Not Interested in Inferno Matches

While WWE 2K26 introduces several new match types including Inferno matches, Punk made clear one stipulation he has no interest in experiencing.

\”Don\’t want to do those. Don\’t want to be set on fire.\”

WWE 2K26 launches March 13 with special editions available March 6 for early access.

  • Paul Heyman Recalls ECW Video Game \’Smashing Every Record\’ in 1999

Paul Heyman has recalled how the original ECW video game defied expectations in 1999 by smashing sales records and forcing a rushed sequel to meet unprecedented international demand.

In an interview with Fightful\’s Sean Ross Sapp, Heyman reflected on his decades-long involvement in wrestling video games, from the Acclaim-published ECW games to today\’s WWE 2K26.

\”Nobody really believed in the ECW video game back in 1999. And when it came out, it smashed every record that was available at the moment. So much so that they bumrushed the next game, which was called Anarchy Rules, as fast as they could out the door because the pre-orders, especially from overseas, had reached a level that had never been seen before.\”

    The Gaming Industry\’s Unique Evolution

Heyman noted that the gaming industry has undergone a transformation unlike any other entertainment sector, simultaneously consolidating and expanding.

\”We have witnessed the game industry both consolidate and expand at the very same time. It\’s a most unique industry and if you don\’t pay attention to it on a daily basis, you\’re going to miss so much of what\’s going on and where the cultural curve is taking it.\”

    Data-Driven Development in Modern Games

Unlike the scrappier approach of the late 1990s, Heyman explained that modern game development is driven by extensive research and analytics.

\”There\’s someone that\’s running analytics. There\’s someone that\’s running metrics. There\’s someone that is doing surveys. There is someone that is doing site testing. There is someone that gets a test group into a room and says, \’Well, if you play this, if you play that, should this person look like this? Should that person wear that?\’\”

He emphasized that staying ahead of trends is essential for survival in the competitive gaming landscape.

\”There is always and has been since day one a dramatic effort to stay a year ahead of the curve because when a video game falls behind the curve, it can never recover. It becomes yesterday\’s news. It becomes Pac-Man. It becomes Space Invaders.\”

WWE 2K26 launches March 13 with over 400 playable characters.

  • WWE 2K26 Official Gameplay Trailer Released

WWE and 2K Games premiered the first official gameplay trailer for WWE 2K26 during the 2026 Royal Rumble premium live event broadcast from Riyadh, Saudi Arabia on Saturday.

The trailer caps off a multi-week reveal cycle that included the unveiling of the Attitude Era Edition on SmackDown, the Monday Night War Edition at Saturday Night\’s Main Event, and the King of Kings Edition featuring Triple H. World Heavyweight Champion CM Punk was confirmed as the Standard Edition cover star during Friday\’s Royal Rumble Kickoff Show — his first WWE game cover since WWE \’13 in 2012.

\”As a kid, I could only dream of being on the cover of a video game. Now I join a very exclusive group of WWE Superstars who have done it twice,\” Punk said.

WWE 2K26 features the largest roster in franchise history with over 400 playable characters. Four new match types join the lineup: I Quit, Inferno, 3 Stages of Hell, and the franchise-first Dumpster Match. The game also introduces a revamped reversal and stamina system, stackable tables, thumbtacks, shopping carts, interactive entrances, and Booker T and Wade Barrett on commentary.

  • WWE 2K26 Dev Team Reveals New Features and Changes

It’s the most magical time of the year for WWE 2K26 fans as announcements are pouring in heading into the official release in March. This year’s cover superstar of the standard edition is none other than the WWE World Heavyweight Champion himself CM Punk!  The “Best in the World” graces the cover for the first time since WWE ‘13

    https://media.sescoops.com/uploads/2026/01/\"https://media.sescoops.com/uploads/2026/01/\"

And that’s not all as the Chicago native headlines the WWE 2K26 2K Showcase. Gamers will be able to relive some of his proudest WWE moments. Not to mention some \’what if\’ challenges he may have faced had he had the opportunity. The journey will also have a personal touch as it will be narrated by the “Best in the World.”

    https://media.sescoops.com/uploads/2026/01/\"https://media.sescoops.com/uploads/2026/01/\"

This goes  along with the “King of Kings” edition  celebrating the more than 30-year career of WWE Hall of Famer and Chief Content Officer Paul “Triple H” Levesque. Players will be able to use Triple H \’98 and Stephanie McMahon \’00 and a “Triple H Signature Taunt Emote” to The Island.

Leaning more into the nostalgia and one of the most influential times in pro wrestling history is the \”Attitude Era” edition, which puts the spotlight on the hellraising icons “Stone Cold” Steve Austin “Rattlesnake”, The Rock ‘99, Chyna ‘97, Kane ‘98, and The Undertaker to name a few. The “Monday Night War” release is an all-new super premium edition featuring content tied to WWE talent and WCW’s biggest names of the era. Not to mention classic playable characters like Shawn Michaels DX, “Macho Man” Randy Savage ‘98, and “Rowdy” Roddy Piper ‘98, and more fun bonuses.

The 2K visual concepts team members Lynell Jinks, Alan Flores, Cornell Gunter, Derek Donahue, and Bryan Williams helped break down all the exciting announcements during a recent roundtable. One that was interrupted by Liv Morgan, who let her thoughts be known that the Judgment Day (mainly herself and Dirty Dom Mysterio) should have been on the cover. Maybe next year?

It\’s hard for us to narrow down which ideas that we have that we will be like, okay, we will only do these 50 ideas instead of all the ideas on our plate,” Donahue said. “I don\’t think we will ever run out of things to do in this game. Wrestling is infinite, and there\’s… even taking the existing things we have, there\’s a million ways we want to improve it. So, it\’s just about how much we can do in a single year, and I think we\’ve got a lot done in this year.”

“I think that\’s the hardest part, especially when you\’re trying to…recreate someone\’s career, or, you know, I think…people will be like, oh, it\’s a no-brainer to add this specific match or stretch of someone\’s career, but, you know, that person might not be under a Legends deal in WWE, and so there\’s limiting factors into what we could actually try to recreate in our game, or even just try to add to our game,” Jinks said of staying true to the stories told in the game while sometimes taking artistic freedoms. “And so we try to come up with, you know, alternatives and fun, creative ways to still, you know, try to capture the best of someone\’s career, and also just, you know. do something new with it, right? And I think that you\’ll see that with this year\’s showcases, that we\’re trying something new, and I hope, you know, people like it.”

    THE ROSTER

The game will feature more than 400 legends and current superstars. Among the exciting editions is the viral sensation Joe Hendry. Say his name, and he appears as the popular performer  will be available as a pre-order bonus. Others to join the recent WWE acquisition either making a game debut or triumphant return. Among them are Rey Fenix, Rusev, Izzi Dame, Myles Borne, and more.

We do our best always to be as current, with programming as possible, but obviously, you know, the things… you know, things in WWE move at a warp speed compared to our, somewhat relative normal speed as developers,” Williams said of their challenges working to stay as current as possible.

In an update, the Ringside Pass live service model will replace the previous DLC. Developers made the change to offer players additional value and incentive to play, earning across all game modes, excluding online lobbies. Features include 60 free tiers and 40 premium tiers to reward gameplay with unlockable superstars, cosmetic customizable items, VC, MY Faction and The Island Content. Reward players with all-new playable characters unable on the base game including some “unexpected names.” Six ringside pass sessions are planned to roll out through the year with first one available at launch.

Punk made his shocking return to WWE at Survivor Series in November 2023 after a nine-year absence. He previously appeared as DLC in WWE 2K24 as part of the ECW Punk Pack released in May 2024, marking his first appearance in a WWE game since 2K15.

WWE 2K26 is scheduled for release during fiscal Q4 2026, which runs from January through March 2026. Based on recent franchise patterns, a March 2026 launch appears likely. Get hyped!

  • WWE 2K25 Releases Final DLC Pack Featuring 5 Golden Era Legends

WWE 2K25 today released its fifth and final character DLC pack, the Saturday Night’s Main Event Pack, featuring five legendary Superstars from WWE’s Golden Era.

The pack includes Jesse “The Body” Ventura, “Mr. Wonderful” Paul Orndorff, Tito Santana, Junkyard Dog, and Sid Justice. All five wrestlers were prominent figures during the 1980s Saturday Night’s Main Event television specials that helped establish WWE as a global entertainment phenomenon.

In addition to the five playable characters, the DLC includes over 60 new moves and taunts. MyFACTION cards are also available for each Superstar in the pack.

The Saturday Night’s Main Event Pack can be purchased individually or is included with the WWE 2K25 Season Pass, Ringside Pass, Farewell Tour Edition, Bloodline Edition, and Deadman Edition.

WWE 2K25 is currently the highest-rated game in franchise history on Xbox. The game continues to receive support through MyFACTION Live Events, with an upcoming Persona Card featuring the WrestleMania 41 version of Penta set to be released soon.

All five legends in the pack are WWE Hall of Famers. Ventura later became governor of Minnesota and transitioned to Hollywood. Orndorff competed in the main event of the first WrestleMania. Santana won the 1989 King of the Ring tournament and held multiple championships during his career.
