  • Roxanne Perez Opens On Historic Royal Rumble Record

At just 23, Roxanne Perez has solidified her place in WWE history with a record-shattering Royal Rumble performance in February 2025. Though she didn\’t leave with a title match at WrestleMania, Perez\’s 67-minute odyssey was what many were talking about after the February PLE.

Entering at number three, she outlasted nearly the entire field, yet she didn’t realize her achievement until after the match. Speaking to Cheap Heat, The Prodigy recalled learning of her historic feat.

\”I think I didn\’t realize I hit a record until I got out of the match and I was like oh really I did.\”

The match was Perez\’s third time competing in the Royal Rumble, and the chaos in the ring was only matched by the busy times backstage. As Perez shared, she was still getting ready when the match was beginning, despite being the #3 entrant.

\”Literally when the match was about to start, I was still in makeup. Actually Alba, she came and she saw me that I was still trying to lace my boots, but trying to get my makeup done at the same time. So, she started lacing my boots for me while I\’m getting my makeup and hair finished.\”

In addition to her record-breaking performance, Perez is a two-time NXT Women\’s Champion, as well as a former NXT and WWE Women\’s Tag Team Champion. After beginning her wrestling career at 13, Perez has earned these career-defining moments.

\’I\’ve literally dedicated my entire life to doing this and being here and having all this come into fruition. I feel like I always envisioned myself here. So now that I\’m doing it, it\’s just like yeah, this is what I\’ve worked for since I was like freaking 13.\’

Perez\’s young age has seen her dubbed \’The Prodigy\’ and at just 23, the future looks bright for the established star. Whether it\’s still as part of the Judgment Day, or branching out on her own, Perez\’s future success isn\’t a question of if, but when.

  • AEW Secures Kyle Fletcher With New Contract (Report)

AEW has secured the future of one of its brightest young stars, TNT Champion Kyle Fletcher, with a major long-term contract signed earlier this year. Fightful Select’s Sean Ross Sapp reports that AEW insiders confirmed Fletcher quietly inked the deal in the spring.

Fletcher negotiated through a representative, the report adds. This new deal underscores Tony Khan’s belief in Fletcher as a key pillar of AEW’s long-term plans, with one source noting that Khan \”has made it clear he views Fletcher as central to AEW’s future.\”

This lofty contract will keep Fletcher away from WWE, which is home to multiple former TNT Champions. Inaugural TNT Champion Cody Rhodes returned to WWE in 2022 while one-time champion Miro made his return to WWE earlier this year.

As for Fletcher, he is in his first reign after besting Dustin Rhodes during the July 31, episode of AEW Collision. With a title reign and a new contract to his name, fans can expect plenty more of Kyle Fletcher in AEW.

  • Dominik Mysterio Eyes AAA Gold, Mask-Ripping Showdown with Rey

WWE Intercontinental Champion Dominik Mysterio has set his sights on Mexico’s AAA Mega Championship as well as a potential future showdown with his father Rey Mysterio. Speaking on Busted Open Radio, Dominik made his bold declaration that a victory at AAA TripleMania could lead to rekindling his feud with his dad.

“If I become the Mega Champion for AAA, I don’t see why my father, the leprechaun, shouldn’t be coming down to me and begging for a title shot.\”

Dominik is certainly confident ahead of his title match with El Hojo del Vikingo that will include El Grande Americano and Dragon Lee. In Dominik\’s world, his involvement makes the show worth watching.

\”If I’m involved, it’s the greatest match of all time. It’ll be their biggest draw.\”

Given his popularity and WWE\’s influence over AAA, a title win for Dirty Dom could be very possible. As for a showdown with his father, the younger Mysterio believes the fans would side with hm, even if he performed the ultimate disrespect and ripped off his father\’s mask.

“Of course [I’d make it out alive]. The people would celebrate me.\”

Dominik also pointed to his father’s AAA history as extra motivation. Not just satisfied with beating his father, Dominik wants to establish himself as the one, true Mysterio in AAA.

“He has never fought for that title when it comes to the Mega Campeón for AAA. So, if I get my hands on it, I’m sure he’s going to want to put his name in the history books—but he’s got to go through me, the greatest Mysterio of all time.”

With Rey sidelined due to injury since WrestleMania, Dominik sees a prime opportunity to prove himself as the superior Mysterio in Mexico’s premier promotion. Time will tell if Rey Vs. Dominik happens in AAA, and if so, if the AAA Mega Championship will be on the line.

  • Rhea Ripley Challenges Wrestling’s No-Weakness Culture

While professional wrestling has long celebrated larger-than-life characters who never show weakness, Rhea Ripley isn\’t afraid to open up on mental health. In a recent appearance on Cheap Heat with Peter Rosenberg, Ripley discussed how wrestling’s traditional “strong at all times” culture left her without role models she could relate to.

“Growing up in wrestling, everyone portrays themselves as larger than life and strong, like they have no weakness. I never really knew how to express myself, and I wish I had someone who expressed themselves—someone I could look up to and say, ‘Okay, I am normal. These are normal emotions. This is just what people go through sometimes.’”

While wrestling didn\’t provide her with mental health role models growing up, Ripley found plenty within her own home. Though wrestling was a huge part of her childhood, it was her family her taught her the most important lessons.

“My mom’s very strong. My dad’s very quiet but strong. My sister—she’s emotional, but she’s younger than me, so it was okay, right? And for me, growing up in wrestling, everyone portrays themselves as larger than life and strong.”

Today, Ripley is the role model to countless people, and takes her role both as an inspiration and as a mental health advocate seriously. For the former Women\’s World Champion, Ripley wants her fans to always know that they are not alone.

“I know a lot of my fans have mental problems. They go through struggles like a normal human, like everyone does, and I want them to know that I go through the same things. They can overcome whatever they want to overcome,” she said, emphasizing the connection between wrestler and fan experiences.\”

Through WWE’s Unreal series and public statements, Ripley has deliberately shown her human side to help fans normalize opening up. Though wrestlers may have prided themselves on being unfazable characters in the past, a more modern-day role requires a new outlook.

\”I like to talk about it all the time—because if someone can relate to it and it helps them get over whatever struggle they’re going through, then I’m doing my job right.\”

By choosing vulnerability over the traditional wrestling facade, Ripley is proving that true strength comes from authentic connection with fans who face similar battles. Stay tuned to SEScoops for the latest on Rhea Ripley.

  • Paul Heyman Comes Clean Over Seth Rollins Injury & Cash-In

WWE Hall of Famer Paul Heyman has confirmed what many have suspected since SummerSlam: Seth Rollins was never hurt. In an exclusive interview on The Ariel Helwani Show, Heyman confirmed that the entire injury plot that began at Saturday Night\’s Main Event, was an elaborate work.

\”Was he ever hurt? No. Never hurt. Even like when he was jumping around at Saturday night\’s main event. No, that was plan B. Well, we we the the story since Mania is a power grab that this is Oh my god, I\’m breaking. No, no, no. You\’re good. You\’re good. Um, this is what we\’re calling the vision. And the vision was Seth Rollins in a position of power to lead WWE and indeed the entire industry into the future.\”

Rollins cashed-in on CM Punk mere minutes after Punk won his first WWE World Championship in over a dozen years. In fact, it was Punk, Rollins\’ fierce rival, who was the catalyst for the ruse.

\”Seth Rollins realized he\’s never going to be champion as long as CM Punk is around or at least as long as CM Punk sees Seth Rollins going for a title. So we need plan B. So plan B became get the money in the bank briefcase and get out of the way, out of sight, out of mind. So Punk never sees it coming.\”

With Punk being the reason for the plot, it was ironic that the plan would culminate with Rollins taking the title from CM Punk. Calling this a \”happy coinicidence,\” Heyman added that they needed Punk sufficiently neutralized, and that was achieved by the powerful GUNTTHER.

\”If CM Punk didn\’t take that beating from Gunther, it would not have made sense for Seth for Seth Rollins to have cashed in the Money in the Bank briefcase at SummerSlam. The idea was wait till a champion Gunther or Punk or anybody that could beat Gunther… is in a position of vulnerability cash it in so that Punk can\’t interfere in the match to stop Seth Rollins from winning the title.\”

For Heyman, a former friend of Punk, he is happy to back the new WWE World Heavyweight Champion. Whatever ties he may have to Punk are dead and buried.

\”Half the fun of watching CM Punk win the title was the knowledge that Seth Rollins had that he was going to take it away from him. So that was the opportune moment to cash in and so we did and that was plan B.\”

This revelation showcases WWE\’s evolved approach to storytelling in the modern era with ideas that are able to develop over time. With Rollins already running afoul of Roman Reigns, and his issues with CM Punk still present, it remains to be seen what\’s next for the new champion.

  • Cody Rhodes Reflects on \’Final SummerSlam\’ Moment with John Cena

SummerSlam 2025 saw Cody Rhodes reclaim the WWE Championship for the second time, defeating John Cena in Night Two\’s main event. For Rhodes, this wasn\’t just the regaining of a title, but an opportunity to give John Cena a fitting final SummerSlam match.

As Cena\’s career continues to tick away, many of John\’s \’final\’ moments have already occurred. Speaking to ESPN to address the blockbuster WWE PLE-ESPN deal, Rhodes discussed his SummerSlam experience.

\”When you get into the stadium game, sometimes all the sound in the world just shoots up. But this was a very rare moment where I could feel everything.\”

Over two nights, 114,000 fans filled the stadium to watch SummerSlam, headlined by Cena Vs. Rhodes 2. For Rhodes, it represented both a career-defining moment and a passing of the torch from one generation to the next.

\”It\’s John Cena and his final SummerSlam…to have a moment like that with them, that\’s a stadium I\’ll remember forever. It was one of those matches where you hear on commentary, \’oh, these two guys will never be the same.\’ I\’d say it was pretty apt in that match with just some incredible bumps.\”

Despite being at a later stage in his career, Cena\’s performance impressed the new WWE Champion. While Rhodes left with the win and the gold, while Cena was left laid out by a returning Brock Lesnar, the \’Unseen Seventeen\’ has nothing to be ashamed of.

\”To see John go at the pace he went at this point in his career, really just leaving his mark behind. This final run with him is really, really special. But I could do it again. I think I have to do it again.\”

SummerSlam 2025 marked WWE\’s inaugural two-night SummerSlam and another record-breaking attendance figure. For John Cena, it marked the end of his time at the \’Biggest Party of the Summer,\’ a send-off Rhodes was honored to be a part of.

  • Cody Rhodes Was Kept In The Dark Over WWE ESPN Deal

WWE\’s blockbuster ESPN deal caught many by surprise, including new WWE Champion Cody Rhodes. Speaking during his ESPN SportsCenter appearance, Rhodes shared that despite being a top name within the promotion, he was only given a few hours notice before the news broke.

\”We were also talking off air—complete secrecy with this thing. They just gave me the Iggy. They said, \’Hey…just be ready. There\’s something\’s going to happen on Wednesday, and look at this to be part of this family.\’ What an honor.\”

This sense of secrecy wasn\’t confined to Rhodes alone. Instead, the secrecy extended throughout WWE\’s roster, with talent placed \”on standby\” without knowing what was coming.

\”I wasn\’t going to tell anyone, you know. I didn\’t know. You were like, we were all put on standby.\”

The level of confidentiality speaks to the magnitude of the deal, which will bring WrestleMania, Royal Rumble, and Money in the Bank to ESPN platforms starting in 2026. The partnership represents one of WWE\’s most significant business moves as the company continues its record-breaking momentum.

Even Rhodes, now in his second reign as WWE Champion, was kept largely in the dark until the final moment. This serves as a testament to WWE\’s commitment to controlling the narrative around what he called \”the perfect match\” between sports entertainment and ESPN.

  • Kylie Rae Crowned First WWE ID Women\’s Champion

Kylie Rae\’s name will be forever etched in history as the first-ever WWE ID Women\’s Champion. Rae made history at GCW Presents WWE ID Showcase by winning the gold in a fierce triple threat that included Zayda Steel and Zara Zakher. Rae\’s moment of glory came when Steel was forced to tap out to a crossface submission.

The WWE ID Women’s Championship comes with a unique stipulation — it’s open to all independent talent. That means that non-WWE contracted talent will regularly have the opportunity to capture WWE gold. Rae, already part of the WWE ID program and a regular on WWE EVOLVE, now becomes the division’s first champion.

For Rae, this victory is as big for her personally as it is professionally. This win comes close to four years as Rae announced that she\’d be taking a break from wrestling due to mental health concerns. At the time, it was unclear when fans would see the fun-loving wrestler in the ring again, but now she\’s both back, and a champion.

Rae’s victory not only cements her place in WWE ID history but also opens the door for a wave of new challengers from across the independent scene. It remains to be seen who from the Independent Wrestling scene steps up to the new champion.

  • Mark Copani Open to WWE Return But Not As Muhammad Hassan

One of WWE\’s most controversial characters, Muhammad Hassan, was written off TV in 2005 after a year on the main roster. Two decades later, fans are yet to see Hassan step back in the ring, but could that change one-day?

Speaking to TheA2theK Wrestling podcast, Mark Copani, the man behind the Hassan character, reflected on a potential return. Given the controversy of the character two decades ago, and the ongoing political climate, Copani would be wary about revisiting the role of the Arab-American heel.

\”It depends how it\’s presented because I can never go out there and pretend to be Muhammad Hassan. I mean, crying out loud, I\’m the director of human resource. My job is the rules and perception.\”

Copani\’s days of angering fans worldwide with themes of racial discrimination and prejudice are behind him, but wrestling may not. Copani would be lying if he said he wasn\’t interested in returning in a way \”without p*ssing anybody off.\”

\”You miss that energy from the crowd. You know, I I miss everything about being in the ring. I miss everything about wrestling. I don\’t miss the travel, at least the extent to which you have to travel… I\’d be lying if I said I\’d never want to have that experience again.\”

For Copani, any kind of return would not be the start of a second run, but instead a \”one and done\” situation. But with tensions in politics continuing to rage, it remains to be seen if Copani will ever get the tactful one-off return he hopes for two decades after his WWE exit.

  • Muhammad Hassan: Hulk Hogan Was Always Great To Me

Muhammad Hassan\’s sole WrestleMania appearance saw him share WWE\’s grandest stage with WWE\’s biggest star: Hulk Hogan. After assaulting Eugene at WrestleMania 21, Hassan was laid out by the Hulkster in an epic moment at the April 2005 PLE.

Battling Hassan would serve as Hogan\’s final time getting physical at the show he headlined for years. Speaking to The A2theK Wrestling podcast, Hassan reflected on his experience with the late legend.

\”He was never anything but great to Shawn [Daivari] and I, and he was never anything but great for us to work with.\”

Hassan found Hogan to be very gracious when doing business, and shared that his experience with Hogan was hardly an isolated one. Instead, Hassan struggled to recall anyone who had a bad experience working with the two-time WWE Hall of Famer.

\”I don\’t really know a lot of people who worked with Hulk Hogan or met with Hulk Hogan that had a really bad experience with him.\”

Hassan, now an assistant principal, recalled being interviewed about Hogan mere days before the icon\’s death in July 2025. While this loss has hit many in wrestling, Hassan shared that it has allowed people to bond over their respect for the former WWE Champion.

\”People started coming up to me or messaging me to talk about the experiences they had with Hulk Hogan. One of my one guy that I know bumped into him twice. Once in New York City and once at a restaurant locally here in Syracuse. And he had nothing but great things to say.\”

While Hassan\’s days in the ring are behind him, he will never forget his time working with Hulk Hogan. For a lifelong fan of wrestling, sharing WWE\’s grandest stage with the Hulkster was a dream come true.

  • WWE\’s Zelina Vega Signs With Prototype Talent Agency

WWE Superstar Zelina Vega is ready to explore roles outside of the ring after signing with the Prototype Talent Agency. The news was first reported by Deadline. Vega isn\’t the only WWE name on Prototype\’s roster, as she joins Cody Rhodes, Bubba Ray Dudley, and Billy Gunn.

Vega has already flexed her acting muscles, including portraying AJ Lee in the Saraya biopic Fighting With My Family. As a voiceover artist, Vega served as a guest commentator for Street Fighter 6, and has appeared as herself in several WWE video games.

Vega\’s move with Prototype reflects how WWE\’s stance on talent taking roles outside the promotion has shifted. Rather than being constricted to only appear for WWE, talent now are given greater freedom to explore what lays beyond the ring. Several Superstars are now signed up to agencies, including many in the Paradigm Talent Agency.

Back in the ring, Vega remains on the hunt for championship gold and will challenge Women\’s U.S. Champion Giulia on the August 1, SmackDown. It remains to be seen what moves Vega will make going forward both in and out of the ring.

  • Bea Priestley Talks Night Seizures, Skull Surgery, and Survival

Former WWE Superstar Bea Priestley is no stranger to fighting, as she was doing just that long before she got in the ring. Speaking on Rule Breakers with Saraya, Priestley recalled experiencing scary medical symptoms in her youth.

“I was fine until I was like 14. And then all of a sudden, I started having these really violent seizures, but only at nighttime… There were times I’d fall out of bed, whack my head on my bedside table, and get knocked out. They thought I had childhood trauma or something.\”

Things took a turn a year later when a 15-year-old Priestley was visiting England to see her family. Mid-flight, she experienced one of her seizures, which was a wake-up call for her family.

\”I remember blacking out in my seat and waking up with staff restraining me at the back of the plane. That’s when my parents were like, ‘Okay, this is something different.’”

Priestley was seen to in her native New Zealand, where doctors finally found the cause of her seizures.

\”They found I had a brain tumor—but it was on my skull. They think I was born with it, and then as I hit my teenage years, my brain started growing into the tumor, so it was constant.\”

Though she now knew what the issue was, life didn\’t get any easier anytime soon. The seizures continued years later, forcing Priestley to have to evaluate what her life could be.

“There were times I had seizures while eating—if my flatmates weren’t there, I would’ve choked. I couldn’t lock the bathroom door in case I had a seizure. Couldn’t sleep with my door closed. I wasn’t even allowed to have a job anymore. My dad had to drive 10 hours to pick me up and take me back home.”

The former WWE Superstar was eventually able to have the tumor removed thanks to surgery. Though her seizures are a thing of the past, they left a permanent mark on the wrestler.

““They cut my skull, pulled my face back, took out the tumor, and reattached it with metal. I’ve got a scar from my ear all the way across and a dent in my skull.

\”I’ve never been concussed in my life. I’ve been kicked in the head, dropped on my head, never been concussed. I always say, it’s because I’ve got a metal head.”

Priestley was released from WWE in February 2025 and questions remain about her next move in wrestling. Whatever comes next, the ex-Superstar knows what it means to survive.

  • Jade Cargill: Daughter\’s Wrestling Love Is Trouble At School

Jade Cargill has proven to be a force in the ring, and it appears that the apple doesn\’t fall far from the tree. During a recent appearance on Busted Open Radio, the WWE Superstar shared that her daughter is a lover of all-things wrestling, which is causing some issues at schoool.

\”We actually get in trouble about it a lot. I was just over there saying how my daughter speared a kid in class — and I was happy for her. Yeah, she speared a kid in class… I was happy. But it’s like, ‘Don’t do that, don’t do that, don’t do that.’\”

Cargill admitted that while her daughter’s enthusiasm might have gone too far, she couldn’t help but be proud of the execution. While the younger Cargill may have an impressive spear, Jade hopes that wrestling doesn\’t become her sole focus just yet.

“She aspires to be a wrestler. I don’t want it to happen. I want her to get a great education. And then if that’s something she wants to do later in life, I’m OK. I’m down.”

Whatever path Jade\’s daughter goes down, she\’s not the only child to be inspired by the likes of Cargill and others. The former WWE Women\’s Tag Team Champion feels honored to forge a connection with young fans she hopes will last a lifetime.

\”I want to inspire little girls out there to do whatever they want to do in life. So that feels really good — just like Chyna inspired me.\”

WWE continues to move forward with its female talent, who reportedly outshine their male counterparts in the training. As for Jade, she plans on bringing home the WWE Women\’s Championship after SummerSlam 2025.

  • My Daddy! Mercedes Moné Confirms Beat Mortos Reports

AEW TBS Champion Mercedes Moné has confirmed reports of a relationship to fellow wrestler Beast Mortos. Taking to social media, The CEO shared a pair of intimate photos with Mortos with the caption \”Mi Papacito\” (My Daddy.\”)

Reports of a relationship between the two first sprang up in June 2025, and a source who spoke to TMZ said that the couple were together. Now, Moné, who had previously spoke of being in a \’Beauty and the Beast\’ situation, has made it clear she\’s not hiding her new relationship.

Moné was previously in a relationship with WWE costume designer Sarath Ton, widely known by his ring name Mikaze and the pair married in 2016. The couple seperated in 2020 but kept this quiet, reportedly as Mercedes feared adverse booking from WWE\’s writers. The pair filed for divorce in July 2024, which was confirmed on August 2.

Mercedes Moné is seeing success in both her personal and professional lives, as she recently added another title to her collection. Now, her exciting journey in wrestling will continue with the Beast Mortos by her side.

  • Paul Heyman Pitches The Late Show Host Role, Blasts CBS

Paul Heyman didn\’t mince his words when asked about CBS’s decision to end The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, and he’s already pitching himself as the perfect successor. Speaking to TMZ in New York City, the WWE Hall of Famer shared his reaction to the news that the show will be ended in May 2026 after over three decades.

\”I think it’s the dumbest move CBS has ever made. Why? They fired Stephen Colbert and they canceled the show. CBS should’ve kept the show.\”

Heyman couldn\’t help but pitch himself as the new host if CBS decided to keep the show going. Instead of audiences tuning in to see Colbert, Heyman feels his presence on his own show would be a hit.

“Could you imagine every night — except for Mondays when I’m on Raw — ‘Ladies and Gentlemen, my name is Paul Heyman. Welcome to The Late Show\’… If CBS wants ratings, call me. WWE Hall of Famer, by the way.”

The network cited financial reasons and emphasized that the decision had nothing to do with the show’s performance or content. Some have claimed that CBS felt pressured to cancel the show by the current administration as Colbert, under his role, has often poked fun at Donald Trump.

The Late Show originally launched in 1993 with David Letterman and was taken over by Colbert in 2015. As the show approaches its final year, Heyman sees a golden opportunity.

  • John Cena On His Difficult Dad Past, Making Progress

John Cena is a recognizable name around the world, and that doesn\’t stop when it comes to the WWE icon\’s family life. In a new interview with Stephanie McMahon, Cena recalled a recent interview his father gave, in which he only called his son by his full name.

“He did an interview on local television about my last match. Local news is like, ‘We caught up with John Cena’s dad.’ My dad didn’t call me his son once. He called me John Cena.\”

This wasn\’t a mistake by the father, ironically also named John Cena. The younger Cena shared that his father loves all things wrestling, and that is what makes him him.

“My dad is a wrestling fan, like a junkie — always has been… That’s his way of doing it. And if I want him to be who I want him to be, then he’s not himself.\”

Names aside, John\’s relationship with his father has not always been easy. Speaking candidly, John reflected on what things would\’ve been like if his father had passed during difficult times between the two.

“If I’d spoken at my dad’s eulogy 10 years ago, my eulogy would have been like, ‘He was just a guy. Thanks for coming.\’ I would have listed every other male important mentor in my life that guided me through life and was there when I needed them as a father figure.”

Now, though, he sees his father’s behavior differently — as something to be understood, not judged. This shift in perspective has allowed for a more peaceful, if measured, relationship.

“I have so much of a better relationship with my dad. It is in bursts,” Cena said. He’s also set boundaries to help their dynamic work: “Neutral ground, public place. Because we gotta start casual.”

Like his son, the elder Cena is a name in pro-wrestling and can be found working as a manager under the name \’Johnny Fabulous.\’ For WWE\’s seventeen-time World Champion, the day he does deliver his father\’s eulogy will not be what he envisioned a decade ago.

“When I get the luxury of speaking at my dad’s eulogy now, people will know how excellent a human being he is. And he hasn’t changed one bit.”

  • John Cena Shares Why WWE Retirement Must Happen

John Cena has finally revealed the real reason behind his WWE retirement, saying it goes beyond physical limitations. In a candid interview with Stephanie McMahon, Cena shared that while he remains in impressive shape, maintaining a full-time WWE schedule would come at a cost he’s no longer willing to pay.

“A schedule like I was doing in 2013 would destroy me right now,” Cena admitted. “It will ruin me and ruin my relationship, and that’s the tip of my spear. So I gotta close a chapter, that’s it.”

This attitude marks a dramatic departure from the workaholic persona that carried Cena to the very top of the wrestling world. When Cena was at the very top, it inevitably caused his personal life to diminish in favor of his wrestling role.

“I remember in like 2008. Sat down, dinner with my ex-wife, phone call. ‘We need you here, boss. There’s a plane waiting for you.’ See you… I literally threw some cash at my ex-wife and caught a plane to the next event.”

Older and wiser, Cena says his priorities have shifted completely. As the WWE icon marks five years marrie to his current wife Shay, John knows what\’s important to him now.

“I am here to live life. I am here to acknowledge the greatest gift that I have been awarded. Of all the privilege and gift I have been awarded in my life, the greatest gift is waking up. And that is the tip of my spear. And right below that is my bride.”

John spent over a decade and a half of his life with pro wrestling as the tip of his spear. While the 17-time World Champion is ready for a life with wrestling in his past, he doesn\’t regret the decisions he made.

“I don’t regret any of that. I feel good that I can reflect on a mini moment like that — when I literally threw some cash at my ex-wife and caught a plane to the next event. I don’t regret anything. I wasn’t forced to do that. I did it under my own duress.”

Today, Cena is guided on a different path. As he prepares to wind down his time in the ring, Cena\’s focus isn\’t on personal glory, but sharing this final lap with those nearest and dearest.

“From the way I push my chips into this, it is tough to carry people along with you. It’s like, they need to ride the Wave . They can’t run next to you — and that’s just me.”

Cena faces questions regularly about his retirement, and ended by reiterating that he is not surrendering to his age. Instead, this is a thought transition for what matters most.

\”\’Why are you choosing to hang it up? You’re in shape. Life is good. You look good, you can still jump high, move fast.\’ It will ruin me and ruin my relationship, and that’s the tip of my spear.”

John\’s next match will come at WWE SummerSlam, where he will defend the Undisputed WWE Championship against Cody Rhodes. With his number of appearances winding down, Cena is ready to end his career on his own terms.

  • Zelina Vega: WWE U.S. Title Win Ushered In My Ruthless Era

Zelina Vega captured the Women\’s U.S. Title in early 2025, her first taste of singles gold after close to a decade with the promotion. While Vega no longer holds the gold, her time as champion has ushered in a new era for the WWE Superstar.

In a recent interview with Chris Van Vliet, Vega opened up about her journey to becoming United States Champion and the evolution of her character. For Vega, her title win wasn\’t just a personal milestone, but a warning to others.

“This isn’t just about holding a title,” Vega told Van Vliet. “It’s about making a statement. I want everyone to know that I’m not here to play nice anymore.”

Vega reflected on her past, acknowledging that she\’s faced challengers, but they ave made her all the more resilient. While the former champion is grateful to her fans and mentors for taking her this far, she made it clear that her future will be defined by her own ambition.

“I’ve always had the talent, but now I have the edge.\”

Currently, the Women\’s U.S. Title is held by Giulia, who recently took on an ally of her own. While regaining the gold just got a new obstacle, it may be just a matter of time before Zelina Vega has a title around her waist again.

  • Stephanie McMahon On How Jiu-Jitsu Helped Her Rediscover Herself

Stephanie McMahon has spent decades as part of the company her father and grandfather created, but now she has opened up with her struggle with identity. In a new interview with John Cena, McMahon addressed struggling to know who she is, and how Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu became her path to rediscovery.

\”I lost myself for a little bit. I lost my confidence, and I found it again in Jiu-Jitsu,\” McMahon confessed during the extended conversation, marking a rare moment of public vulnerability from the WWE executive.

McMahon shared her admission while discussing hers and Cena\’s philsophies when it comes to training. McMahon is now a blue belt with her first stripe, and her knowledge in martial arts extends beyond the mat.

\”[It taught] very hard life lessons, mainly as it relates to my family and what WWE is and what it means to me and how much a part of it I really am.\”

For someone so deeply embedded in WWE\’s corporate structure, McMahon\’s identity crisis centered on her relationship with the business that has defined her entire life. McMahon shared how she \”couldn\’t not watch\” WWE, but this focus left her on wanting to know who Stephanie McMahon-Levesque is outside of her working life. Thankfully, martial arts helped answer some of her questions.

\”It reinforced who I am and it reminded me of my strength. And it was something that I did completely on my own and with no one else\’s help. Nobody got me to that point, I mean, other than my coach. But I mean, I did it for me.\”

McMahon is no stranger to getting physical in the ring, and martial arts have proven no different. On the podcast, McMahon spoke of the transformative nature of her training, even if it leaves her feeling sore.

\”You get pretzeled. You have to give up. A lot… I am always beat up after Jiu Jitsu.\”

Her story resonates beyond the wrestling world, showing how physical challenges can heal emotional wounds and how finding something truly your own can restore lost confidence.

  • Jimmy Hart: Hulk Hogan Was Devastated By WWE Raw Netflix Boos

Hulk Hogan\’s final appearance in front of a live WWE crowd was hardly what the Hulkster wanted as his swan-song. Appearing at Raw\’s debut on Netflix in January 2025, Hogan was met with overwhelming boos as he promoted his \’Real American Beer\’ beverage brand.

While Hogan tried to shrug off the reaction at the time, the response he reeived reportedly rattled the late-wrestler. On a tribute episode of Stories with Brisco and Bradshaw, Jimmy Hart shared that Hogan was \”devastated\” upon his return to the backstage area.

\”That devastated him. And we got in the back and he said, ‘What do you think happened?’\”

Hart\’s explanation? Politics. On the podcast, Hart suggested that Hogan\’s endorsement of Donald Trump and JD Vance caused fans to turn on him in LA, a mostly left-leaning city. Despite the backlash, Hogan shared at the time that he wouldn\’t change his political stance, telling his friend \”this is the right thing.\”

Hogan\’s genuine reaction varies differently to what he presented following Raw\’s arrival on Netflix. When asked about the response, Hogan chalked it up to him being a heel the last time he appeared in LA. Later, Hogan tried to put a positive spin on the situation, saying he\’d rather be booed than forgotten.

While it is unclear why each individual attendee booed, much has been said about Hogan\’s several controversies. From telling tall tales to reports of sabotaging others to his racist remarks, the WWE Universe was able to make their voices heard in the arena.

WWE has shared several Hogan tributes since his death where fans have been far more gracious to the late icon. Nevertheless, Hogan\’s final appearance in front of WWE fans had a somber impact on the Hulkster.

  • AAA Executive: Many In WWE Want Alberto El Patron Return

Alberto El Patron recently lost a match in AAA and per the stipulation, has to now part ways with the promotion, seemingly forever. As questions remain about his future in wrestling, AAA executive Ernesto Campo believes El Patron\’s future could see him return to the promotion, as well as WWE.

Speaking to Superluchas, Campo was asked about whether El Patron\’s loss was just for storylines, or if he is truly gone. Campo shared that he hopes Alberto returns before claiming some in WWE hope to see him back as well.

“What I know is that there are no plans for him to go to the U.S. but that could change. But I do hope that he eventually returns to AAA Programming. There are Many in WWE want him to return to the main roster.\”

Campo highlighted how El Patron kept AAA \”afloat\” over the past year as one of the company\’s top stars. Not only did Alberto lead the company, but he achieved \”huge revenues\” across Mexico, Campo added.

Campo did not name anyone within WWE hoping for El Patron\’s return, and currently, there\’s no sign of a comeback. It\’s been reported that WWE\’s stance \”has not changed\” on El Patron, who was released a second time in 2016. WWE deliberately distanced itself from the former World Champion, actively avoiding mentioning him since its acquisition of AAA.

El Patron was fired from WWE in 2014 after a backstage altercation, and after being rehired the next year, was cut in 2016 following a Wellness Policy violation. With Campo\’s comments, time will tell if Alberto is ever called a WWE Superstar again.

  • How CrossFit & Mark Henry Led Bianca Belair to WWE Greatness

WWE Superstars come from all works of life, and for Bianca Belair, a single message from Hall of Famer Mark Henry changed everything for the EST. Speaking on Insight with Chris Van Vliet, Belair explained how her athleticism and natural showmanship in a CrossFit video caught Henry’s attention in an unexpected way.

“Mark Henry saw a video of me. I had this big bow in my hair and I’m talking to the audience, and he’s like, ‘Hey, have you ever thought of being a wrestler?’”

While wrestling had its sights set on Belair, the feeling wasn\’t mutual. At the time, the last thing the future Women\’s Champion planned on doing was competing in a ring, despite being aware of WWE\’s programming.

“Like, ‘Nah, not really, but I was watch—I’ve seen Total Divas and I joke with my mom like maybe I’ll be a wrestler.\”

Eventually, Henry was able to convince Belair to give wrestling a try. As the WWE Hall of Famer explained, Bianca was already training for pro wrestling, without even realizing it at the time.

\”You’re basically doing everything that a wrestler does. You’re wearing wrestling gear. You’re wearing entrance pieces. You’re grabbing the microphone.\”

Belair\’s charisma was already on display in her CrossFit persona. In a precursor to her colorful WWE role, Belair was attracting fans more interested in seeing her than they were in CrossFit

\”People would come to the CrossFit events to see what I was going to wear… I’ve been an athlete my whole life, and I don’t know how not to be an athlete.\”

Henry was able to get Belair a tryout, though made it clear he couldn\’t make WWE hire her. After two tryouts, Belair\’s future was secured as a WWE Superstar. While she had Henry rooting for her, she acknowledged not everyone may be so fortunate.

\”Listen to your gut, because sometimes you might not have that Mark Henry in your life. You have to be your own Mark Henry.\”

Belair\’s story shows how there is no guaranteed path for any WWE Superstar. While Belair remains out of action due to an injury, fans eagerly anticipate the in-ring return of the EST.

  • Grassroots Movement Fuels Karrion Kross and Scarlett’s WWE Momentum

The fan-led grassroots movement supporting Karrion Kross and Scarlett shows no sign of slowing down, as the pair continue to be success stories in WWE\’s merchandise. As Kross merch continues to sell out at live events and online, fans continue to hope this success translates to a greater role on-screen.

The organic nature of the support hasn’t gone unnoticed. During a recent appearance on the Battleground Podcast, Kross expressed heartfelt appreciation for the growing momentum behind him and Scarlett.

“We’re very honored and we feel very lucky to be seen because we are standing next to so much talent, so many different extraordinary people. We’re standing right next to them — and to be seen as unique and different, and to stand out among those people.\”

The ongoing merchandise shortage has become a talking point among fans, with t-shirts reportedly backordered until late July and early August. With Kross merch proving to be in high demand and harder to come by, this has only furthered the fervor of support behind the former NXT Champion.

Though questions remain about Kross and Scarlett\’s future in WWE, this support bodes well for whatever comes next. Kross believes this is only the beginning, emphasizing that fans haven’t yet seen the full scope of what he and Scarlett can deliver.

“We are finally being seen for what we can really do — and people haven’t even seen yet what we can really do. It’s been a while.\”

Kross can\’t help but be humbled by the fan response he\’s received. Four years after both he and Scarlett were released and three years after being rehired under Paul Levesque, Kross is appreciating every last moment he can to entertain fans.

“It’s just very humbling, but also it’s very motivating. It’s very invigorating — and we just want to give more.\”

With a SummerSlam match looming and his memoir not far behind, Karrion Kross is taking wrestling by storm in and out of the ring. This phenomenon underscores a broader shift in how wrestling success is measured, now not solely with title reigns, but with the connection made with fans.

  • Triple H Backs Expanding WWE Events: \”Disney For Pro Wrestling\”

WWE SummerSlam 2025 will take place on August 2, and August 3, marking the first time the show has occurred over two nights. And according to Paul \’Triple H\’ Levesque, if you’re going to do things big, do them really big.

Speaking on WFAN in New York City with Brandon Tierney and Sal Licata, WWE \’s Chief Content Officer addressed the change. For Levesque, the success that WrestleMania has seen since being moved to two-nights in 2020 justifies the SummerSlam change.

“Look, it has been successful for us on the WrestleMania side for sure — the two-night WrestleManias are destination weekends. People plan their year, their vacation around it.”

While the two-night SummerSlam will be the focus of this week, it will hardly be WWE\’s only attraction. Comparing the show to a Disney production, Levesque noted that fans can easily make a whole week from a two-night show.

“A lot of folks come in on Thursday, they’re going to the World, seeing all the memorabilia, getting autographs, coming to SmackDown on Friday night, then the Saturday-Sunday events. NXT in the afternoon sometimes on Saturdays, all the way through to Monday night. This time, we’ll be at Barclays Center. If you’re a fan, there’s nothing like it. It’s going to Disney for pro wrestling.”

WWE has certainly stacked the card for its first two-night SummerSlam with multiple Men\’s and Women\’s World title matches confirmed. With an exciting six-team TLC match coming, and the impending debut of Jelly Roll, the show will be big on spectacle.

  • How An Eddie Kingston Promo Saved A Life, Wrestler Reacts

Eddie Kingston has had a long, storied career in wrestling, which has had an impact on countless fans worldwide. Recently, one fan shared how a promo by the former ROH World Champion didn\’t just entertain them, but ultimately saved their life.

On X, a recent trend has encouraged fans and wrestlers to share \”wrestling lore\” about themselves. One fan revealed how it was hearing a promo from Kingston that turned their life around.

\”Eddie Kingston and AEW saved my life. Two years ago, I was 207lbs, depressed, and thinking about ending it. Then I saw Eddie\’s mental health promo, it hit me hard. I started therapy. I started working out. Now I\’m 147lbs and still watching weekly. Thank you Eddie. Thank you AEW.\”

While Kingston doesn\’t use X anymore, the message found its way to the Mad King. Humbled by how his promo affected someone\’s life, Kingston responded saying \”I have no word[s].\”

Omega isn\’t the only AEW name to have had a profound effect on a fan\’s life. Earlier this year, a fan shared that they were ready to end it all, but ended up gushing about Kenny Omega after spotting someone in a Bullet Club shirt. This interaction helped the fan down from the proverbial cliff, and earned a response from Omega on X.

These tales demonstrates the uniting force that pro wrestling can bring and provide light at the darkest of times. As Kingston continues to recover from his injury, the Mad King\’s influence contineus to be felt.
