  • Paul Heyman Touts His Pop Culture Influence: Zack Morris Phone, Extreme and Eat, Sleep, Repeat

In a wide-ranging and colorful interview on The Rich Eisen Show, Paul Heyman didn’t just talk WrestleMania — he launched a spirited defense of his legacy as a pop culture pioneer.

“People used to say to me, ‘Why do you carry a phone 24/7?’” Heyman recalled, referencing the iconic 1980s-style brick phone he made famous as Paul E. Dangerously.

“I said, ‘This is not a prediction, that’s a spoiler — this is the future.’ And of course, I was ahead of the curve.”

Heyman claimed that entertainment has routinely borrowed from his innovations without credit.

“I changed ECW from Eastern to Extreme Championship Wrestling in 1994 — six months later everything was ‘Extreme’: Taco Bell, Ford trucks, you name it.”

“And then,” he added, “when Brock Lesnar conquered the streak: ‘Eat. Sleep. Conquer. Repeat.’ Nobody had heard that phrase before. A year later, it was everywhere — Eat. Sleep. _______. Repeat. That’s mine too.”

He even took aim at pop culture icons:

“Why is it called the Zack Morris brick phone? That prick stole it from me. If anything, give it to Gordon Gekko. At least I respect that character.”

    Heyman’s larger point? He’s not just a voice in wrestling — he’s a visionary.

“I don’t go to events. I produce them. I don’t sit at tables. I think about how to own the casino.”

  • Roman Reigns Supports President Trump: ‘Positive and Competent Leadership’

Roman Reigns supports President Donald Trump, and says the choice was clear in the most recent election.

In an interview with Vanity Fair, Reigns shared his views on politics, describing himself as a centrist despite being a registered Democrat. Reflecting on the most recent election at the time, Anoa’i said the choice was “very clear.”

“One person was giving us information. One person was answering questions, so it wasn’t that hard,” he explained.

When asked if that meant he supported Donald Trump, Anoa’i responded after a brief pause:

    “I support our President.”

He praised Trump’s broad experience across entertainment, business, and politics, adding:

“At this point, I’m supporting a bright future for our country. Positive and competent leadership. For us to be what we’re supposed to be—to be a world leader and carry that respect and do what a world power like us should be doing.”

However, Anoa’i also acknowledged his differences with Trump’s political behavior. He criticized the former president’s need for constant opposition, saying,

“It’s like he needs that adversary… He needs that competitive motivation or something.”

He noted the similarities between Trump’s combative approach and the dynamics of WWE, observing how wrestling had become a lens for understanding modern politics.

“To be honest,” he added, “the world seems to be more like wrestling than any other form of entertainment.”

  • Naomi Praises Mercedes Moné and Athena After AEW Dynamite Match

WWE’s Naomi has praised the standout performance of AEW stars Mercedes Moné and Athena, following their match on this week’s historic episode of AEW Dynamite.

The episode marked a milestone for Dynamite, surpassing WCW Nitro as the longest-running primetime wrestling show in TNT history. Moné and Athena kicked off the night with a high-profile semifinal clash in the women’s Owen Hart Cup tournament.

After the match, Naomi — who has maintained a villainous streak on WWE programming and social media — took a moment to commend both competitors and give them their “flowers.”

The praise highlights the connection she shares with Moné, formerly known as Sasha Banks, as the two were WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions and exited the company together in 2022.

The match was notable as the first-ever AEW singles contest between Moné and Athena, and Athena’s first appearance on Dynamite since October 2022. Moné secured the win, handing Athena her first singles loss since joining AEW. With the victory, Moné advances to the tournament final at Double or Nothing on May 25, where she will face either Jamie Hayter or Kris Statlander.

On the men’s side of the Owen Hart Cup, Will Ospreay has reached the final and awaits the winner of Adam Page vs. Kyle Fletcher.

  • Roman Reigns Embarrassed by Vince McMahon Allegations: A ‘Stain on WWE’

Roman Reigns has spoken publicly about the ongoing lawsuit filed against Vince McMahon, calling the allegations “embarrassing” and expressing concern for those affected.

In January 2024, former WWE employee Janel Grant filed a lawsuit against McMahon, WWE, and John Laurinaitis, alleging sexual assault and sex trafficking. The case prompted McMahon’s resignation from his executive role with TKO and WWE. The lawsuit remains active.

Reigns, who was elevated to top star status shortly after his debut in November 2012 and worked closely with McMahon for over a decade, addressed the situation in a recent interview with Vanity Fair.

“It’s embarrassing,” Reigns said. “That’s stuff you don’t want to hear about. You don’t want your family to hear about.”

He described the allegations as a “stain on WWE” and offered empathy for Grant, stating:

“She’s got to live with all these situations that happened, and hopefully she’s in a place where she feels comfortable and she’s secure in her own place.”

The profile also mentioned that McMahon reached out to Reigns last year to wish him a happy birthday.

Elsewhere in the interview, the “Tribal Chief” revealed that his current WWE contract expires after next year’s WrestleMania 42, and he’s planning to spend much more of his time focusing on “less physical” entertainment projects.

  • Roman Reigns’ WWE Contract Expires After WrestleMania 42

Roman Reigns has confirmed that his current WWE contract is set to expire following WrestleMania 42 in 2026. In a new profile published by Vanity Fair ahead of this year’s WrestleMania 41, Reigns shared that he expects to remain with WWE for “another year or two max” before shifting to “a less physical form of entertainment.”

Reflecting on a pivotal turning point in his career, Reigns said he considered leaving WWE before his on-screen partnership with Paul Heyman.

“I was prepared to walk away if we weren’t going to be able to do what I felt was right for me creatively at the time,” he noted.

He credited the pairing for helping reshape his character after audiences grew disinterested in his former “Big Dog” persona.

    Roman Reigns’ WWE Career

Reigns, born Leati Joseph Anoa?i, began his WWE journey in 2010 and made his main roster debut at Survivor Series in 2012 as part of The Shield, alongside Dean Ambrose and Seth Rollins. His impact since then has been historic.

At WrestleMania 41, Reigns is set to headline Night 1 in a triple threat match against CM Punk and Seth Rollins. With this appearance, he will have main-evented WrestleMania 10 times—setting a new all-time record for most WrestleMania main events in WWE history.

His previous WrestleMania main events include:

WrestleMania 31 – vs. Brock Lesnar (with Seth Rollins’ Money in the Bank cash-in)

    WrestleMania 32 – vs. Triple H

WrestleMania 34 – vs. Brock Lesnar

WrestleMania 37 – vs. Edge and Daniel Bryan

WrestleMania 38 – vs. Brock Lesnar (Title Unification match)

WrestleMania 39 – vs. Cody Rhodes

WrestleMania 40 (Night 1) – Tag match with The Rock vs. Cody Rhodes & Seth Rollins

WrestleMania 40 (Night 2) – vs. Cody Rhodes

WrestleMania 41 – vs. CM Punk vs. Seth Rollins (scheduled)

This milestone places Reigns ahead of legendary figures such as John Cena, Hulk Hogan, and The Undertaker in WrestleMania main event appearances.

  • Shawn Michaels Says UFC’s Rise Pushed WWE to Adopt a More Realistic Style

WWE and UFC are two very different genres of entertainment, but there’s more common ground than you’d think. During an appearance on the Bobby Bones Show, Shawn Michaels explained how WWE had no choice but to evolve thanks to the rise of professional mixed martial arts.

Michaels, who serves as WWE’s Senior Vice President of Talent Development Creative, shared insight into how the art of ‘selling’ in pro wrestling has evolved. UFC going mainstream led WWE to adopt a more realistic style. So much so, that wrestlers who shined in previous generations would look out of place in 2025.

“The business has changed so much,” Michaels said. Reflecting on the ’90s, he cited Mr. Perfect as a key influence, praising his visual and exaggerated selling style. “This day and age he would be considered an overseller, but it was very visual and very appealing.”

He added that wrestlers like Dolph Ziggler and Billy Gunn continued that expressive style, including himself, though he’s unsure how that level of performance would be received today.

Michaels pointed to the growth of MMA, particularly UFC, as a turning point.

“With MMA being around, our business had to evolve and replicate what I think people perceived as legitimately painful or not,” he explained.

As combat sports gained mainstream traction, pro wrestling had to adapt to meet changing expectations for realism.

“As this continues to grow, evolve, and change, our business is going to continue to do that,” he added.

Michaels said he’s gotten caught up in looking at the younger generation and saying, ‘They don’t sell like we did back in the day.’ He’s come to realize that nothing is static and change is inevitable.

“Old timers like me often talk about, ‘These kids don’t sell anything like we did,’ but at the same time, I remember people saying that to me. That is generational.

I think you have to change with the times. Football, basketball, baseball, they all need to be faster than they once were to keep an audience entertained and locked in. Our business is no different.”

  • Eric Bischoff Congratulates Tony Khan on AEW Dynamite Surpassing WCW Nitro

Former WCW President Eric Bischoff, one of All Elite Wrestling’s fiercest critics, has issued a congratulatory message to AEW President Tony Khan ahead of tonight’s historic AEW Dynamite.

In just a matter of hours, episode 289 of AEW Dynamite goes live on TBS and surpasses WCW Monday Nitro as the longest-running weekly prime time wrestling series in the history of Turner Sports. On his 83 Weeks podcast, Bischoff complimented Khan’s commitment and vision. He may not agree with everything Khan does, but he respects what he’s achieved. Bischoff knows better than anybody, Khan’s job isn’t easy.

“I want to congratulate Tony Khan and his entire staff. This obviously means a lot to them and congratulations,” Bischoff said. “It does say a lot about Tony’s commitment. Tony put his own money into this.

You can judge the product, I can judge the product, I often have. I just don’t watch it anymore, but truth is, his vision, his dream, his money, his commitment.

So congratulations because what he did isn’t easy, no matter how anybody feels about the product, it wasn’t easy and it still isn’t.”

Read what fellow WCW Nitro alum and AEW broadcaster Tony Schiavone said about tonight’s historic broadcast:

  • Tony Schiavone Reflects on AEW Surpassing WCW Nitro, Praises Tony Khan’s Leadership

As AEW Dynamite airs a milestone episode tonight, officially surpassing the total episode count of WCW Monday Nitro, veteran broadcaster Tony Schiavone shared personal reflections on the achievement.

Speaking on his What Happened When podcast, Schiavone, a former voice of Nitro and now a key figure in AEW, praised the journey and the leadership of AEW President Tony Khan. “It is pretty cool,” Schiavone said of the accomplishment. He acknowledged that some might view his praise skeptically, adding:

“Most people are going to say, ‘Oh, you’re a suck up.’ Yeah, I am.”

Reflecting on AEW’s evolution, Schiavone admitted the road hasn’t been entirely smooth.

“There’s been bumps, and I’m talking about bumps that you have not seen, bumps that have not been reported,” he said.

Despite internal challenges, he emphasized Khan’s pivotal role in rejuvenating the team behind AEW.

“He gave us new life. He completely changed our lives,” Schiavone stated. “Everybody who works for him… he changed our lives, especially people in the front office.”

Schiavone connected Khan’s personal passion for wrestling to the importance of tonight’s episode.

“He loves wrestling on a nostalgia level, like we do. Tony has done a lot for us,” he said.

He also highlighted Khan’s influence on AEW’s creative success, citing the “Timeless” Toni Storm character as a standout example.

“Right now, Timeless Toni Storm is probably the biggest woman’s star that we have… and that’s because it was a character that Tony Khan developed,” he revealed.

Schiavone noted RJ City’s contributions to the character’s development, but emphasized that the concept originated with Khan.

“He’s come up with some very good ideas for us over the last six years,” Schiavone added, referencing key matches like Stadium Stampede and AEW’s double cage format. “We are charged to implement them, which we have done to the best of our ability.”

Looking ahead to the milestone broadcast, Schiavone concluded:

“I really feel that this is going to be a very special night for many, many reasons.”

  • Travis Scott Confirmed for WrestleMania 41, Backstage Reaction to Him Injuring Cody Rhodes

Travis Scott’s involvement in WWE will continue at WrestleMania 41, with the rapper officially confirmed to appear at the event following his dramatic debut earlier this year.

Scott made headlines after teaming with The Rock and John Cena during Elimination Chamber, where the trio shocked fans with a major heel turn, assaulting Cody Rhodes in what has been described as one of WWE’s most memorable segments in recent history.

Despite the strong showing, neither Scott nor The Rock have appeared on WWE programming alongside Cena since the March 1 episode of SmackDown. However, WWE’s Chief Content Officer Triple H has now clarified Scott’s status moving forward.

Travis Scott Just Getting Started in WWE

Appearing on The Ankler Podcast alongside WWE President Nick Khan, Triple H confirmed that Scott will be part of WrestleMania 41, teasing a major moment during the Las Vegas event.

“Travis is a kid in a candy store in that thing,” Triple H said. “He’ll be at WrestleMania… whatever happens in Vegas over WrestleMania weekend will be heard worldwide.”

The podcast also shed light on the real-life aftermath of the Cody Rhodes segment, specifically a hard slap delivered by Scott. According to Khan, Scott said he was following The Rock’s advice to fully commit to the moment.

“Travis said, ‘Dwayne Johnson told me you better slap the s**t out of him, or people are gonna think that you don’t have it.’”

Triple H added that Rhodes had no complaints about the intensity.

“Ironically, the only person that didn’t complain about the slap was Cody Rhodes,” he said. “He just wanted it to look good.”

With Scott’s involvement now official, fans can expect more crossover moments as WWE continues building mainstream momentum ahead of its biggest show of the year.

  • Nick Khan Addresses WWE’s Talent Strategy, AEW Signings, and Vince McMahon Docuseries

    • WWE President Nick Khan addressed multiple hot topics during his appearance on The Bill Simmons Podcast, including WWE’s approach to signing former AEW talent and the company’s response to the Netflix docuseries Mr. McMahon.
    • Khan clarified that WWE does not intend to sign wrestlers just to sideline them, praised AEW’s talent while signaling interest in future acquisitions, and offered insight into the internal reaction to the controversial final episode of the Vince McMahon documentary.

Here are the highlights from the interview:

WWE’s Approach to Signing AEW Talent

In recent months, WWE has signed several notable names from AEW, including Ricky Saints (formerly Ricky Starks), Penta, Rey Fenix, and Ethan Page. While the list continues to grow, Khan was clear that WWE isn’t signing talent just to keep them off TV.

“That’s something we won’t do. We won’t sign and bench people. We sign people who we want to use,” Khan stated. When host Bill Simmons noted that stockpiling talent is common in wrestling, Khan responded, “That’s what I’ve been told from time to time. Not us.”

Khan emphasized that WWE’s focus is on bringing in performers who can contribute on-screen. Referencing AEW indirectly, he said:

“In terms of the other wrestling promotional company, they have a lot of talented wrestlers and we’re happy about that. When, contractually, they are available to talk to and have conversations with, assume a number of them will come over.”

He added a respectful nod to AEW’s ownership structure:

“Nothing but respect to the father who finances it and owns the Jaguars and all those other things.” This was a reference to Shad Khan, with AEW operated daily by his son, Tony Khan.

Reaction to the Mr. McMahon Netflix Docuseries

The six-episode docuseries Mr. McMahon premiered on Netflix on September 25, chronicling Vince McMahon’s rise and fall. Episode six in particular spotlighted serious allegations against the former WWE Chairman, including sexual misconduct, hush money payments, and a federal investigation. Khan addressed the company’s internal reaction to the documentary.

“Episodes one through five, it was all fine. Episode six obviously had a lot of tawdry allegations in there,” he said. “The most important thing in the company was, ‘Hey, this is not for us to spike it.’ That’s not what the deal was and the deal that was struck with Netflix was prior to me joining WWE on a full-time basis.”

He described the range of reactions from within WWE:

“It went everywhere from ‘Hey, it was phenomenally done’ to ‘Oh my God, this thing is not true, it’s not factual.’ There were people who loved it as an objectively told profile of a person, and people who were close to the subject who didn’t like it, which I would understand, and I think you understand.”

Simmons, who produced the documentary, acknowledged the challenges but expressed pride in the final product. All six episodes are currently available to stream on Netflix.

  • Mariah May AEW Contract Update

Mariah May still has \”significant time\” left on her AEW contract, according to PWInsider, contrary to reports that she’s due to become a free agent this summer.

May has been one of the breakout stars of the AEW roster since her arrival in November 2023. She arrived on the scene as a super-fan of Timeless Toni Storm. She quickly ingratiated herself with the silver screen starlet, before eventually turning on her and taking her most prized possession. The longterm storyline culminated just a few months ago, when Storm got revenge in a bloody war at AEW Revolution 2025.

May hasn’t been seen on AEW television since, nor has she been ‘on the road’ attending TV tapings. Over the past several days, wrestling fans have been buzzing about Dave Meltzer’s report that May is expected to leave AEW and is eager to join WWE.

Sources in AEW believe Mariah May’s AEW contract runs through November 2025, if not longer.

Whether her AEW contract expires in July, November or next February, a few things are certain: the British grappler is in high demand, and is poised to secure the biggest contract of her wrestling career.
