I\’m just happy that she was on a Wednesday where I\’m like, \’Alright, I can actually make a Wednesday, that\’s one of our few days off.\’\”

Bayley and Mercedes Mone\’s friendship dates long back to the days of NXT when Mercedes went by the name, Sasha Banks. • Bayley Gets Special Introduction At Milwaukee Bucks Game Ahead of Sold Out SmackDown

Bayley remains to be one of the most popular stars in WWE and has attained several accolades during her illustrious career. However, winning the Royal Rumble had been the one achievement that had eluded her for long.

She finally added that to her long list of achievements this year. The hugger has since gotten into a feud with her former Damage CTRL partners. Before her confrontation with the former teammates on SmackDown, \’The Role Model\’ enjoyed her time at the NBA game last night.

\’The Role Model\’ has a huge task at hand heading into WrestleMania 40. After winning the Women\’s Royal Rumble, she set her sights on WWE Women\’s Champion IYO SKY after her former Damage CTRL teammate attacked her.

Alongside, SKY, the other members, Kabuki Warriors turned on Bayley but she found support in Dakota Kai. Unfortunately, Kai eventually crossed her too. Bayley then faced Dakota on SmackDown last week. That match ended in a DQ after the former was outnumbered by Damage CTRL.

Bayley is now heading into the high-stakes match as an underdog and only time will tell if she is able to walk out as the champ at WrestleMania 40.

  • Bryan Danielson: Will Ospreay Is The Evolution Of Professional Wrestling.

A few years back, Bryan Danielson vs Will Ospreay seemed impossible. Well, thanks to AEW, the dream match is taking place next month. Fans are getting hyped up for the hard hitting affair, and \’The American Dragon\’ is as excited as they are.

Danielson and Ospreay, two of the most talented wrestlers in the industry will lock horns for the first time at AEW Dynasty on April 21 in St. Louis. They both recently showcased remarkable performances against their respective opponents.

Ospreay put up an instant classic with Konosuke Takeshita earlier this month on March 3 at AEW Revolution. On the other hand Danielson squared off against Katsuyori Shibata at March 16 Collision, which was another match that had little chance to materialize a few years ago.

Bryan Danielson feels none can replicate Will Ospreay

Speaking with Sports Illustrated, Danielson expressed his interest in knowing what are the opinions of the younger talents on pro wrestling. He further showered praise on his opponent and revealed which aspect makes the upcoming match exciting. Here is what he said:

“I’m not married to the idea that my take on professional wrestling is the best. I’m really interested in what the younger generation thinks about professional wrestling and what inspires them. Will Ospreay is the evolution of professional wrestling.

If Will Ospreay wanted to do a Bryan Danielson match, he could. If I wanted to do what Will Ospreay does in a match, I couldn’t. I don’t think there is anybody else in the world who can. That makes me super excited for this match.”

Bryan Danielson vs Will Ospreay is not the main event

Bryan Danielson also revealed that his match against \’The Aerial Assassin\’ will not headline the show and teased the fans that some thrilling plans are in the pipeline. He said:

“Me and Will Ospreay won’t be the main event at Dynasty. That tells you what type of show it will be. I have an inkling of some of the things that are lined up, and I think people are going to be really excited.”

    He added:

“We have a chance to really stamp Dynasty as the newest brand in the AEW pay-per-view system. I’m really excited to be wrestling Will, especially in a historic wrestling city like St. Louis.”

While Danielson boasts his technical prowess in the ring, Ospreay has aerial offense and lighting-fast strikes up his sleeves. This contrast of fighting styles makes the affair more interesting to witness. The fans will certainly have a treat watching them share the ring at AEW Dynasty next month.

All I can do is, ‘Hey, how about this?’ and then I let it go. I let the rest play out as it can.I think I was a little late to the party. So you never know. That’s what they tell you, right? You never know.\”

During the interview, Spears also stated that he preferred to use the \’Shawn Spears\’ name when he decided to make a comeback to WWE and even NXT head Shawn Michaels was in favor of the idea.

  • NXT Star Apologizes After Wearing Ole Anderson T-shirt Amid Racism Accusations

NXT youngster Brooks Jensen apologized to the fans after he found himself in hot water for donning Ole Anderson shirt on NXT.

Last month, Four Horsemen member Ole Anderson passed away. While the legendary superstar had a decorated career, it was tarnished by several allegations of racism, especially his demeanor towards the Black wrestlers.

Jensen was spotted sporting an Ole Anderson shirt on the March 12 edition of NXT when he challenged North American Champion Oba Femi in a losing effort. It turns out Jensen sparked a firestorm of criticism from the fans on social media for what seemed like a tribute to the late wrestler.

One of the fans on Twitter/X questioned Brooks Jensen why he thought it was fitting to wear a shirt in support of Ole Anderson.  The fan wrote:

so @BrooksJensenWWEwhy do you think it\’s appropriate to wear a t-shirt of a massive racist in 2024

Brooks Jensen responds to the criticism

The 22-year-old superstar responded to the flak by admitting that he was not aware of the allegations surrounding Ole Anderson. In his statement on social media, Brooks clarified that he would never support racism, hate, or bullying. Furthermore, the former one-half of the NXT UK Tag Team champs expressed his regret to those who were offended by his actions. Here is what he wrote:

Livin, learnin, and lovin – thanks guys

I will never support any racism, hate, or bullying. While I respected Ole for his wrestling it was news to me after wearing the tshirt that he was associated with these allegation\’s. Ive noticed my \”looks\” and where I\’m from are frequently stigmatized with the underbelly of our society (i.e racists) but this mullet just likes to give love and party. My apologies to anyone who knew the allegations prior and were offended by the shirt. I\’m learning and this was noted.

This incident is certainly a learning curve for Brooks Jensen and the apology was the right course of action.

  • No.1 Contender\’s Match for NXT Tag Team Titles Set For Next Week

Three tag teams will soon collide in a triple-threat action to determine the challengers for the NXT Tag Team Champions, The Wolf Dogs (Baron Corbin and Bron Breakker).

A few weeks back, NXT General Manager Ava made the announcement that as many as six talented tag teams would lock horns, and after the brutal fights, now three teams stand tall. They are all set to compete in the #1 contender\’s match and the winning team will be declared as the challengers. They will then head to NXT Stand & Deliver for the tag team title opportunity.

Teams competing in the #1 Contender\’s match

Last night\’s edition of NXT saw a couple of tag team matches. Hank Walker and Tank Ledger squared off against The O.C. (Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson). On the other hand, the No Quarter Catch Crew (Charlie Dempsey and Myles Borne) battled Axiom and Nathan Frazer.

After the intense contests, The O.C. and the team of Axiom and Frazer were triumphant in their respective matches. The winning teams are all geared up to join LWO\’s Joaquin Wilde & Cruz Del Toro in a triple-threat tag-team bout on the April 2 edition of NXT.

Alpha Academy could get into the mix

Alpha Academy\’s Otis and Akira Tozawa endured a disappointing loss against The New Day (Xavier Woods & Kofi Kingston) on this week\’s Raw, failing to punch a ticket for the WWE Tag Team titles at WrestleMania 40. They have now decided to go after the NXT Tag Team titles. The duo alongside Maxinne Dupri showed up backstage on the yellow and white brand to issue a challenge to Breakker and Corbin. Dupri coaxed The Wolf Dogs into accepting and they have a high-stakes match next week.

Tozawa and Otis are all set to face The Wolf Dogs on next week\’s NXT and the stipulation suggests that should the Alpha Academy prevail, they will be added to the NXT Tag Team Championship match at the Stand & Deliver premium live event.

NXT Stand & Deliver takes place at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia, PA on Saturday, April 6.

  • Rikishi Excited For Jey Uso vs Jimmy Uso \’Dream Match\’ At WrestleMania 40

WWE Hall of Famer Rikishi is thrilled to know that his sons, Jey Uso and Jimmy Uso will lock horns at WrestleMania 40 next month.

The sibling rivalry between Main Event Jey Uso and Jimmy Uso has been boiling for months now. It was at WWE SummerSlam last year that Jimmy crossed his brother Jey during the Tribal Combat match against Roman Reigns. It cost Jey the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship. Jimmy would later explain that he did it to protect his brother. This wasn\’t the only time something like this happened.

Most recently Jimmy Uso went on to distract Jey and once again cost his brother the WWE Intercontinental Championship against Gunther during the Febraury 19th Raw. Tired of his brother poking his nose in his business, Jey Uso issued a challenge to his twin brother and Jimmy accepted.

Rikishi is delighted for Jey Uso vs Jimmy Uso

On Rikishi Fatu Off The Top, the legendary WWE superstar was questioned about what has been labeled as a dream match. It seems that Rikishi is excited about the match being booked because of his relation to both the stars and of course, due to the significance it holds for the whole Bloodline. Here is what he said:

This is a big deal for the whole fans everybody. You’re finally gonna see the dream match, Uso vs. Uso, Yeet vs. No Yeet. It’s gonna be exciting. I’m very happy to be the last to know about it.\”

Fans have witnessed plenty of sibling rivalries in the past and this match at \’The Grandest Stage of Them All\’ will certainly script some career-defining moments for them.

Rikishi has teased getting involved with the Bloodline story for long and he could very well play a part in this clash in some way.

  • Ja Morant Responds to The Rock\’s Mention of Gun Controversy at WWE SmackDown Concert

Memphis Grizzlies star Ja Morant had an amusing response to The Rock taking a jab at him on last night\’s Friday Night SmackDown. He saw The People\’s Champ\’s little remark about him like everyone else.

Ja Morant replied to The Rock\’s dig at his gun situation by simply giving an animated gif in response. This paticular gif showed 50 Cent asking what TF did he do.

The Rock\’s Jab at Ja Morant

\’The Great One\’ has embraced his heel side, and he has been dropping bombshells on the mic week after week. He also took over the blue brand with a musical segment for the Memphis crowd.

During the musical affair on this week\’s SmackDown, The Rock took a jibe at Morant and dropped a reference to his controversy involving a gun. \”The Rock\” sang the following:

\”You\’re simply an embarrassment, son. Just like Ja Morant when he\’s waving a gun. I love you, Ja!\”

    Context

NBA suspended the Memphis Grizzlies point guard Ja Morant for as many as 25 games without pay due to the gun controversy. This marked his second major suspension in a couple of months after his appearance on social media, waving a gun.

It\’s worth noting that after he departed a social event in Memphis on May 13, Morant went on to take a selfie in a car and posed with his gun on a live stream. A statement from the NBA stated that he had already served an eight-game, non-paying suspension for having a gun on March 4 during a livestream at a club in the Denver area while also being intoxicated.

    Ja Morant responds

Despite being in hot waters, Morant took the jab sportingly and responded to The Rock on social media. He posted the popular 50 Cent meme which was the \”What I Do\” meme from a previous dispute that 50 Cent had about boxing legend Floyd Mayweather.

Currently, Morant is recuperating from shoulder surgery and has been on the sidelines. Following his suspension, in January he sustained a separated shoulder which put him on the shelf for the rest of the season.

Meanwhile, The Rock is set to team up with Roman Reigns and take on the team of Cody Rhodes and Seth Rollins on Night One of WrestleMania 40. If the heels win the big Mania match, then it will be Bloodline Rules for Cody vs Roman on night 2.

Speaking with Sports Illustrated, Mercedes Mone recalled when she was informed that her ankle injury was labeled career-ending before she made her official AEW debut. The former Sasha Banks fought through the injury and she\’s back inside the squared circle.

“I got an MRI in May, and the surgeon told me, ‘This is career-ending,’” said Moné. “That was the biggest shock in my whole life. I’d never really been injured like this before. My worst injury before this was from Hell in a Cell in 2019, when my pelvis was out of place for eight months. This was so much more painful. People thought it was just a broken ankle. I was non-weight bearing for three months. It was a fight every day.

“It was devastating when I was told I was never going to come back. But I always knew I would be back, and I told that to my surgeon. Now I’m healthy and my surgeon is calling his mentor saying, ‘Look at what happened here, it’s incredible.’ I don’t like being told no. I always believed I would be back, and now it’s true.”

Mercedes Mone arrived at AEW Dynamite \’Big Business\’ edition this past Wednesday and delivered a heartwarming promo. She was also involved in a segment with Willow Nightingale with whom she has \’unfinished business\’.

That’s alright. I have not yet found a golden ticket in my chocolate bar, so I guess I gotta keep eating chocolate bars to find a golden ticket.

It\’s the 40th installment of WrestleMania and that gives me a tremendous joy and happiness, because the event is bigger than it\’s ever been. I believe you should leave a place better than when you found it, and I think I\’ve done that. [It] brings my heart so much joy to see the event in the place that it is now.\”

Previously, Cena stated that he hopes to do \’something\’ at WrestleMania 40. However, his commitments to filming Peacemaker\’s second season might hinder his appearance.

    Charlotte Flair\’s recovery update

It\’s unlikely that Charlotte Flair will be returning to the ring anytime soon. She has suffered multiple knee injuries including tears to her ACL, MCL, and meniscus. She was even spotted on crutches at the CMLL event ahead of her surgery.

Post-surgery, \’The Queen\’ has been pushing herself to the limits to make her comeback to the squared circle. She is expected to be out for at least 9 months but she could return ahead of her schedule.

Taking to Twitter, she has once against provided an update on her recovery as she shared a video clip of working out in the gym.

We will now have to wait and see when Charlotte Flair manages to make her return.

AEW star Will Ospreay recently came up with a heart-touching gesture as he paid tribute to the late Kurtis “Mad Kurt” Chapman on this week\’s edition of AEW Dynamite.

The wrestling world was recently saddened as Kurtis “Mad Kurt” Chapman tragically passed away at the age of 26 in December 2023. His final match took place in June last year and he had successfully retained his Resurgence Arthouse Championship.

The hard-fought bout saw some intense action with both Ospreay and Fletcher showcasing their talent. At the end of the match, it was Will Ospreay, who emerged victorious by pinning Fletcher with his signature move, the Hidden Blade.

Following the match, he displayed sporting spirit and showed respect to his opponent. Don Callis joined the celebration but it was short-lived as it was interrupted by none other than The Blackpool Combat Club\’s Bryan Danielson

  • Kenny Omega Reacts to Being Fired from The Elite

Kenny Omega is not so impressed after The Young Bucks (Matthew & Nicholas Jackson) fired him from The Elite.

\’The Cleaner\’ is currently out of action for an indefinite period after he was diagnosed with diverticulitis. However, The Young Bucks don\’t care about it. During this week\’s episode of AEW Dynamite, EVPs The Young Bucks addressed the fans and went on to speak about one of their old friends, Kenny Omega.

While Omega recuperates from diverticulitis, The Young Bucks raised questions about his absence as he has been missing dates which they think have baseless reasons. After that, they announced Omega has been fired from his position in The Elite.

    Kenny Omega reacts

Taking to his Twitter/X account, Kenny Omega posted his picture from a match in which his facial expression doesn\’t look too impressed. He didn\’t add any caption as the image was self-explanatory.

Omega was diagnosed with Diverticulitis following his match with Ethan Page last year. The former AEW World Champion was hospitalized immediately after the match. Omega was set to team up with Chris Jericho at AEW Worlds End last December but that match had to be nixed off due to Omega\’s absence.

We had previously reported that Omega has a long road ahead for recovery. Well, his condition is bad enough that surgery could be risky at the time and a decision of the surgery hasn\’t been made

We will have to wait and see what the future holds for Kenny Omega. We at SEScoops wish him a speedy recovery.

  • Rush Finally \’Ready\’ To Return After Dealing With Multiple Issues

AEW star Rush has revealed that it\’s only a matter of time before he makes his return.

\’El Toro Blanco,\’ is the leader of La Faccion Ingobernable which consists of Dralistico, Preston Vance, and Jose The Assistant. But, he has missed a good chunk of in-ring action due to an injury and has been on the shelf. However, he has some plans in place to expand the faction this year.

In December last year, Rush participated in the AEW Continental Classic tournament but competed with an injury. He was part of the Gold League where he tallied six points by defeating Mark Briscoe and Jay Lethal. However, he conceded defeats at the hands of Jay White, Jon Moxley, and Swerve Strickland.

Fellow AEW superstar and La Faccion Ingobernable member Dralistico recently revealed that he and Rush were in the process of getting their visas. His comments led to many believing that the visa issue was why he was not on AEW programming.

Rush is ready for his return

Taking to his Twitter/X account, Rush posted a video clip and wrote the following in the caption:

I have my WORK visa with #AEW
I am injury free and cleared to wrestle.

I am ready for everyone to see a REAL LUCHADOR, EL TORO BLANCO RUSH
    ?
    #LFI

It seems that the wait is over as the visa process is also completed. Thereby, Rush will be back in action soon.

  • El Hijo del Vikingo Undergoes Successful Surgery After Suffering Serious Injury

We have an update on El Hijo del Vikingo after he underwent surgery.

The 26-year-old talented athlete had an outstanding 2023 competing in promotions other than AAA, including All Elite Wrestling, Ring of Honor, TNA, Game Changer Wrestling, and many more. He is currently in his first reign as AAA Mega Champion.

In December 2021, he emerged victorious in a five-way match at Triplemanía Regia II, claiming the vacant title. Vikingo\’s reign is the longest in the title\’s history being ongoing for more than 800 days.

However, he has recently faced some injury woes. Last month, Mas Lucha reported that Vikingo\’s match at the López Mateos Arena had to be called off as he sustained an injury to his right knee. Vikingo was assessed at the arena and there was a talk that he might have damaged a ligament. Mas Lucha also shared photos of Vikingo being tended to at the event.

Vikingo provided an update on his injury via his Instagram stories to reveal that his injury is a torn meniscus and a ruptured ligament. These injuries would require surgery and also updated his fans before undergoing surgery.

El Hijo del Vikingo had a successful surgery

AAA shared that El Hijo del Vikingo’s surgery was a success. There will be an update on how long he’ll be sidelined and the status of the Mega Title.

This is the latest injury that Vikingo has suffered. He had suffered a major injury in late 2023 as well. Vikingo suffered a hip injury at an ROH event when a dive went wrong and was seen using a wheelchair after the match. That incident took place a month after Vikingo collapsed backstage at AAA TripleMania XXXI: Mexico City. A backstage video clip also surfaced depicting Vikingo being stretchered away.

  • Sting Promises To Wrestle At AEW Revolution In A Way \”That Will Make People Save The Tape\”

Pro wrestling legend Sting will step foot inside the squared circle for one last time at this Sunday\’s AEW Revolution 2024 pay-per-view. He’s letting fans know he won’t fade away quietly into the night – he plans to go out with a bang.

Since Sting\’s 2020 AEW debut, \’The Icon\’ has created several special moments for the fans but he has been involved in some spots that defy his age. It appeared that a neck injury would endanger his career in 2015 when he competed at Night of Champions against Seth Rollins. It was regarded as his final match before he joined AEW when it all changed. \’The Icon\’ overcame the hindrances and his illustrious career culminates on his own will. Sting will bring down the curtain on his decorated career with his final match at AEW Revolution 2024

Ahead of his final match, Sting spoke to Sports Illustrated and urged the fans to capture his one last run inside the squared circle.

“I want people to walk away saying, ‘How was that even possible?’” said Sting. “I want people to be entertained. I want to elevate AEW.

“I never wanted wrestling to pass me by. That’s why I wrestled the way I did. This Sunday, I’m going to wrestle a way that will make people want to save the tape.”

Sting and Darby Allin recently captured the AEW World Tag Team titles after defeating Ricky Starks and Big Bill. This marks \’The Icon\’s first title run in the promotion and it seems that his title run is in jeopardy. The event will emanate from Greensboro Coliseum, the same venue where his 1988 Clash of the Champions bout against Ric Flair took place.

  • \”You standing on big business\” – Mercedes Moné Responds To Giulia Wanting to Face Her

Mercedes Moné (formerly Sasha Banks) recently responded to NJPW Strong Women’s Champion Giulia, who has expressed her desire to face the former WWE star.

After being the hottest free agent on the market for quite some time, it seems Moné is AEW-bound.  She tasted success in WWE but departed in 2022 due to issues with the creative team. Soon after that, the former \’Boss\’ made her presence felt in NJPW and World Wonder Ring Stardom while also becoming the IWGP Women\’s Champion.

While Mercedes Moné is on the verge of her return from injury, NJPW Strong Women’s Champion Giulia has stated that she is still wishing to face Mercedes Moné, who has been on the sideline since Giulia won the title from Willow Nightingale in July last year.

Speaking with Tokyo Sports, the NJPW Strong Women’s Champion said that she has been aiming to put her title on the line against Mone. Here is what she said:

“I have been thinking ever since I won the belt that I have to put this belt on the line and beat Mone to overturn this saying,” Giulia said. “I can’t tell you right now where I will go from here, but I will continue to defend this belt until I find Mone.”

    Mercedes Moné responds

Taking to Twitter/X, Mercedes Moné seemingly indicated her AEW debut at Big Business and wants the champ to show as she wrote:

\”You standing on big business or u just standing around! YoU know where to find me
    Julia
    @giulia0221g \”

Giulia is set to be a free agent when her STARDOM contract expires at the end of March. Meanwhile, Moné is reportedly set to debut for AEW this month at Big Business.

It was last month that AEW President Tony Khan confirmed that the March 13, episode of Dynamite will take place at the TD Garden in Boston, MA. The location and the show\’s name being billed \”Big Business\” indicates that Mercedes Moné will make her debut at the show.

  • Billy Jack Haynes Charged with Second Degree Murder

We have an update on former WWE star Billy Jack Haynes regarding a fatal shooting that took place earlier this month.

Haynes was apprehended after cops were called to his home in the Lents neighborhood of Portland. Following the gunfire, authorities were called and Haynes \”eventually came out\” of the house. He was taken into custody following a prolonged confrontation with the offices.

Two hours later, Haynes was moved to prison. Everybody in his area was instructed to remain inside their homes throughout the standoff. In later reports, it was stated that Janette Becraft, Billy Jack Haynes\’ wife, was found dead. It was allegedly from a shooting.

However, the identities of those involved remained undisclosed in the original reports. Previously, reports stated that Haynes would face murder charges, but would be brought as soon as he was discharged from the hospital.

    Update on Billy Jack Haynes

PW Insider reported that Billy Jack Haynes was released from the hospital on February 28 and was immediately arrested and charged with Murder in the Second Degree and Unlawful Use of a Weapon concerning the death of his wife in Portland, Oregon several weeks ago.

Haynes is currently being held at the Multnomah County Detention Center. He had not been charged or brought into custody as he was hospitalized after being taken into custody for a medical issue not related to his arrest.

Haynes had been a popular talent in the Portland area and had wrestled for the WWF/E in the late 1980s. He also appeared in World Class Championship Wrestling in Florida and WCW (under the name Black Blood). Jim Crockett Promotions, New Japan, and other territories among the various promotions.

Haynes parted ways with the WWF at the beginning of 1988 amid some controversy. Haynes is said to have left the WWF after turning down to job in Portland, Oregon, his hometown. According to another angle, he wrestled the match and agreed to the outcome, but he was fired later.

This is a developing situation and we will keep you updated when more details emerge. Keep an eye on SEScoops to get the latest updates.

  • Paul Wight Reflects On Learning Valuable Lessons From Sting

Pro wrestling legend Sting is retiring soon and another veteran Paul Wight (formerly Big Show in WWE) has shared some lessons he has learned from \’The Icon.\’

Sting joined AEW back in 2020 and \’The Icon\’ has since created some memorable moments with his age-defying spots and moves as he faced several high-profile talents. The final run of his career has been a fairytale for him. In 2015 it seemed that a neck injury would threaten his career, Sting has overcome the odds and he\’s ending his storied career on his own terms.

Sting will bring down the curtain on his decorated career with his final match in AEW taking place at next month\’s AEW Revolution 2024

Sting brings more than four decades of experience to the table and has shared his wisdom with several young superstars over the years. It was back in 1994 when Paul Wigh met Sting and they became not only on-screen rivals but also great friends. In the May of 1996, Wight headlined WCW’s Slamboree pay-per-view against Sting which remains to be the former\’s landmark match.

Wight recently spoke with Sports Illustrated and recalled some priceless lessons he has learned from Sting. Back in 1995, the infamous brawl between “Mr. Wonderful” Paul Orndorff and Vader broke out. While Wight was eager to get a closer view, Sting had another opinion on the matter.

“As I was getting up, Sting said to me, ‘Nothing good will come from that,’” said Wight. “I said, ‘What? I want to see what’s happening.’ And he said, ‘That’s their business.’ So we stayed there and finished the game.”

In the process, Paul Wight learned a valuable lesson.

“I learned something a lot deeper than that, too. I still remember how I wanted to jump right into the chaos. But he was right–it was between Orndorff and Vader. I didn’t have any business getting involved in it.”

Paul Wight couldn\’t have asked for better influence than Sting

During the interview, Paul Wight said that Sting had a huge influence on him in shaping his career. He recalled another lesson he\’d learned about the business. He said:

\”Somebody has to cook and somebody has to eat, and Sting taught me that core philosophy. I learned that my first job in a match is to get my opponent over, then get the match over. That’s Point A and Point B. If you do that right, you’ll automatically get yourself over. That’s not, ‘You do your stuff, I’ll do my stuff.’

It’s bigger than you. Some guys only take care of themselves, and good for them. But the guys I respect most are the ones who make people better in the ring. That’s someone like Ric Flair, he has to be mentioned. So does Sting. I couldn’t have asked for a better influence early in my career.\”

Sting and Darby Allin recently defeated Ricky Starks and Big Bill to capture the AEW World Tag Team Championship. This marks \’The Icon\’s first title run in the promotion and it seems that his title run is in jeopardy with The Young Bucks setting their sights on the gold.
