  • AEW Dynamite & NXT TV Viewership (2/12)

Viewership data is in for this week’s battle in the WWE NXT vs. AEW Dynamite Wednesday Night War.

This week, AEW won in total viewers. It was close in every demographic group except Adults 50+, where NXT had a significant edge as they usually do.

Here is the breakdown of the live and same-night DVR viewership, courtesy of ShowbuzzDaily:

    WWE NXT Viewership

NXT on the USA Network averaged 757,000 viewers, which is down from 770,000 last week. In the 18-49 demo, they drew a 0.24 rating, up from the 0.22 rating the previous week.

The episode featured Lio Rush vs. Angel Garza with the winner to become the No. 1 contender to the NXT Cruiserweight Title, Roderick Strong vs. Bronson Reed, Dakota Kai vs. Candice LeRae, Johnny Gargano vs. Cameron Grimes, and NXT Champion Adam Cole vs. Kushida in a non-title match.

    AEW Dynamite Viewership

AEW Dynamite on TNT was watched by 817,000 viewers, down from the 928,000 viewers last week. In the 18-49 demo, Dynamite pulled in a 0.30 rating, down from the 0.36 rating that the show did last week.

AEW Dynamite featured matches such as MJF vs. Jungle Boy, Sammy Guevara vs. Dustin Rhodes, Jon Moxley vs. Santana, AEW Tag Team Champions Adam Page and Kenny Omega vs. SCU, and Riho vs. Nyla Rose for the AEW Women’s Title.

Next week’s battle will be very interesting to see which show wins the ratings battle as NXT will be getting closer to their next special, TakeOver: Portland while AEW edges closer to Revolution.

  • WWE NXT Results & 4 Takeaways (2/12)

The February 12, 2020 episode of WWE NXT aired live on the USA Network from the Winter Park, Florida at Full Sail University.

The show was headlined by WWE NXT Champion Adam Cole vs. Kushida in a non-title match.

    WWE NXT Results (2/12/20)

    • Roderick Strong def. Bronson Reed
    • Dakota Kai def. Candice LeRae
    • Johnny Gargano def. Cameron Grimes
    • Lio Rush def. Angel Garza – #1 Contender Match For Cruiserweight Title
    • Adam Cole def. Kushida – Non-Title Match

Here are the 4 takeaways from this week’s show:

    The Velveteen Dream Starts Feud

    \"\"

The fallout from The Velveteen Dream returning last week started at the top of the show. Right out of the gate, Roderick Strong opened the show by cutting a promo about how he wants an apology from Dream.

This led to Bronson Reed walking out and a singles match was booked. In the end, Strong went over. After the match, Dream appeared on the big screen by cutting a promo about taking something more important to Strong than his career like his family. Dream had a photo of Strong’s wife and son on his leg.

This comes after The Undisputed Era attacked dream last year where they threw Dream off a trailer to write him off of television.

It’s too early to book them on the NXT TakeOver: Portland card but they\’ll wrestle on next week\’s episode of NXT TV.

    https://twitter.com/WWENXT/status/1227764847783350273

    Dakota Kai vs. Candice LeRae

    \"Dakota
    Dakota Kai

Dakota Kai vs. Candice LeRae had an interesting rematch. The two stars wrestled several weeks ago.

This was better than their original match. Kai ended up going over. Post-match, Teagan Knox came out and brawled with Kai.

This was done to hype Kai’s match with Knox as LeRae had some history with Knox in the past. In fact, LeRae helped Knox go over Kai a few weeks ago.

This was done to promote Kai vs. Knox in a Street Fight at the NXT TakeOver: Portland event on Sunday, February 16, 2020 in Portland, Oregon at the Moda Center that will air live on the WWE Network.

No. 1 Contender To The NXT Cruiserweight Title

    \"\"

WWE booked Lio Rush vs. Angel Garza to see who would emerge as the No. 1 contender to the NXT Cruiserweight Title on this show.

It was a fun back and forth match that saw Rush go over. Either star would’ve been the right call, which is why this was a good choice of booking by the powers at be.

Rush is a former champ and can work with anyone while Garza, also a former champion, has been pushed heavily not only on NXT but also Monday Night RAW.

He’s appeared on the flagship show of the company for the past two weeks while filling in for United States Champion Andrade, who currently on the sidelines due to him failing WWE’s wellness test policy.

Now, Rush will challenge Jordan Devilin for the NXT Cruiserweight Title next week on NXT TV.

    Adam Cole vs. Kushida

    \"\"

WWE NXT Champion Adam Cole vs. Kushida took place in a non-title match.

This came after Cole tweeted earlier in the day that he was in a bad mood and wanted to take out his frustration on Kushida.

This was a nice way to have Cole, who is NXT’s top star, in a non-title match against an opponent who is credible in the eyes of the hardcore and casual fans but at the same time someone that he could beat.

Kushida, who is a great in-ring talent, rubbing elbows with Cole will also put some stock in his value at the same time.

Post-match, Tommaso Ciampa walked down to the ring and had a staredown with Cole to close the show. Ciampa cut a promo earlier in the show about how he would reclaim goldie.

Cole defends the NXT Title against Ciampa in the headliner of NXT TakeOver: Portland this Sunday.

  • Jake Hager vs. Dustin Rhodes Signed For AEW Revolution (2/29)

All Elite Wrestling has announced a new match for their upcoming Revolution pay-per-view.

Jake Hager, formerly known as Jack Swagger from his time in WWE, is slated to take on Dustin Rhodes in a singles match at this show. This will mark Hager’s in-ring debut for the promotion.

There is some history with Rhodes and Hager as during the build-up for the AEW World Heavyweight Champion Chris Jericho-Cody Rhodes match last year heading into Full Gear, Rhodes took a beat down from Hager.

In fact, AEW did an angle where Rhodes’ arm was broken after Hager smashed it in a car door.

AEW presents the Revolution pay-per-view event on Saturday, February 29, 2020 in Chicago, IL from the Sears Center.

The show will air at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT, and is available for purchase via iN DEMAND cable operators, DirecTV, DISH Network and B/R Live. International fans can purchase the event at FITE.TV. The promotion will be announcing more matches for the show in the coming weeks.

  • Jeff Cobb To Make AEW In-Ring Debut Against Top Star Next Week

Jeff Cobb is all elite as he\’s in AEW now.

The news was made on Wednesday’s episode of AEW Dynamite on TNT via AEW World Heavyweight Champion Chris Jericho. It was revealed that Cobb is slated to take on Jon Moxley in a singles match on next week’s episode of Dynamite in Atlanta, Georgia.

Cobb made an appearance at the end of this week\’s show by attacking Moxley. Next Wednesday\’s will mark the go-home show for the Revolution pay-per-view. Also set for next week is Cody Rhodes vs. Wardlow inside of a steel cage.

Cobb is a former ROH World Television Champion and former PWG World Champion. As of this writing, his status with AEW and ROH is not fully known as Ring of Honor and All Elite Wrestling hasn’t had a working relationship up to this point.

While it’s likely that Cobb will be working for AEW full-time going forward, he’s still working dates for ROH. In wrestling you can’t rule out much so technically it\’s possible that this could be a one-off appearance.

An update on Cobb’s status is likely to surface in the coming days. Ironically, ROH announced minutes before this AEW announcement that Cobb would be working an ROH show on WrestleMania weekend.

Cobb and Dan Maff face KENTA and Taiji Ishimori in a tag match at Supercard of Honor in Lakeland, Fla., on April 4th.

Nyla Rose Wins AEW Women’s Title

  • Nyla Rose Wins AEW Women’s Championship

Riho has been dethroned by Nyla Rose.

The reign of the inaugural AEW Women’s Champion ended on Wednesday’s episode of AEW Dynamite in Austin, TX at the H.E.B Center on TNT. This was a surprise for many as Riho had a long reign leading into this contest.

Rose climbed her way up the women’s rankings to earn this title match. You can see the top five as of February 12th:

    1. Nyla Rose (2-1)
    2. Hikaru Shida (2-1)
    3. Kris Statlander (0-1)
    4. Yuka Sakazaki (1-0) (previously unranked)
    5. Britt Baker (1-2) (-1)

It turns out that Riho beat Rose to become the first-ever champion under the AEW banner back on the October 2nd episode of AEW Dynamite in Washington, D.C., at the famed Capital One Arena.

These two stars earned this opportunity to compete for the title back in August at the All Out event at the Sears Centre in Chicago, IL that aired on pay-per-view.

The AEW Revolution pay-per-view event takes place on Saturday, February 29, 2020 in Chicago, IL from the Sears Center. Time will tell whether a third match for the title between these two stars gets booked as a result of this title change.

  • Teddy Hart Arrested

Teddy Hart was arrested on Tuesday night in Richmond, Virginia.

He was booked on three charges of possession, possession of a Schedule III controlled substance and possession with intent to sell and distribute, according to the police report.

It should be noted that possession of a Schedule III controlled substance is a Class 1 misdemeanor in Virginia with a maximum penalty of up to 12 months in jail and / or a fine of up to $2,500.

Schedule III controlled substances can include anabolic steroids and ketamine. Hart is scheduled to appear in court on April 23rd.

Hart made his return to MLW 2017 where he would later become the leader of the New Era Hart Foundation alongside Davey Boy Smith Jr. and Brian Pillman Jr.

His most recent match under the MLW banner that took place in November. This is where he competed in a match against Myron Reed and dropped the MLW Middleweight Championship to Reed. He was released in December.

Hart was previously arrested back in 2017 after attempting to evade arrest after being pulled over for a hazardous traffic violation in Arlington, Texas. It should be noted that those charges were dropped.

  • Report: Three Inductees For WWE Hall Of Fame 2020 Revealed

More names for this year’s WWE Hall of Fame class have been revealed.

On Wednesday, the WrestleVotes Twitter account tweeted out a report stating that The Bella Twins and Jushin ‘Thunder’ Liger are slated to be inducted into the class. It should be noted that WWE has yet to confirm the news.

“I’ve heard several names talked about for this year\’s Hall of Fame. Was only able to get confirmation on 2 of them as of now, they are The Bella Twins & Jushin ‘Thunder’ Liger.”

Liger, who made his name outside of WWE for his work in WCW and NJPW, has had only two matches under the WWE banner – once in 1990 where he defeated Akira Nogami at Wrestling Summit and at the NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn event on August 22, 2015 against Tyler Breeze. Liger retired earlier this year at NJPW Wrestle Kingdom 14.

Both Brie and Nikki have had reigns as Divas Champion throughout their careers with WWE. After returning in the summer of 2018, the sisters have announced their retirement from in-ring action.

WWE has already confirmed that the nWo (Kevin Nash, Hulk Hogan, Scott Hall, and Waltman), as well as Batista, would be inducted into the 2020 Hall of Fame class.

This year’s WWE Hall of Fame ceremony is scheduled to take place on April 2, 2020 at the Amalie Arena in Tampa, Florida, as part of WrestleMania 36 weekend.

  • WWE RAW Viewership (2/10)

The WWE RAW viewership numbers are in.

Monday’s edition of WWE RAW averaged 2.337 million viewers in Ontario, CA at the Toyota Arena on the USA Network, which is up from the 2.168 million viewers the previous week.

    RAW Viewership

Here is the hourly viewership breakdown, courtesy of ShowbuzzDaily:

    • Hour 1: 2.411 million – Last Week: 2.318
    • Hour 2: 2.396 million – Last Week: 2.164
    • Hour 3: 2.204 million – Last Week: 2.022

The episode was expected to increase in its viewership from last week. The reason for that is due to the lack of competition it faced as well as it serving as featuring the fallout from last week.

Here is the hourly 18-49 demos breakdown:

    • Hour 1: 0.81 – Last Week: 0.72
    • Hour 2: 0.81 – Last Week: 0.66

There was also a segment with Matt Hardy and Randy Orton where Hardy confronted Orton over attacking Edge. Hardy was attacked as a way to write him off of TV.

WWE will attempt to increase its viewership for Monday Night RAW next week due to no sports competition and the road to WrestleMania on its way.

Bray Wyatt currently holds the title and will make his next title defense against Goldberg at the Super ShowDown event later this month.

Since the Royal Rumble, it’s been reported that Wyatt will hold the title until WrestleMania 36. For those who want to find out who his expected opponent will be, click here.

WWE often takes full advantage of the “card subject to change” disclaimer, so it’s possible they will go in a different direction with at least one of these stars in the match. The match indicates where WWE’s storyline plans are headed in the month ahead.

The Elimination Chamber show is the last pay-per-view before WrestleMania.

  • Details On Sami Zayn Working As Manager Instead Of Wrestling

Fans have been wondering why WWE has booked Sami Zayn as a manager instead of an active in-ring performer.

It turns out that Zayn is working as a manager because of a creative decision, not because of an injury, according to Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio. He’s been the manager of Cesaro and Shinsuke Nakamura for months.

Although there had been speculation that the reason why WWE put him in a manager role was due to him dealing with shoulder issues over the last year, that’s not the case.

It turns out that Sami is currently not injured. Instead, he’s not wrestling regularly because this is the role WWE creative has for him right now.

It was noted that Zayn was medically cleared from shoulder issues a while back. As of this writing, there\’s no word yet on when Sami might return to regular in-ring action.

Zayn has worked some matches since before being moved as a manager last summer but mostly multi-man matches on live events.

His last match at a TV event, which was a dark match at a SmackDown episode in Detroit, Michigan, saw Braun Strowman & The New Day (Big E & Kofi Kingston) defeat Cesaro, Sami Zayn & Shinsuke Nakamura in a six-man tag team match.

  • Shayna Baszler Makes WWE RAW Debut By Attacking Becky Lynch

Shayna Baszler has made her debut on WWE RAW and did so in a big way.

The former NXT Women’s Champion appeared on Monday’s episode of RAW in Ontario, CA at the Toyota Arena on the USA Network by attacking Becky Lynch, who made her latest title defense as RAW Women’s Champion against Asuka.

The segment ended when Baszler bit the back of the neck of Lynch and they did some fake blood to make it more real.

    https://twitter.com/WWENXT/status/1227044755974086658

Baszler’s appearance on this show and her now being a full-time star on RAW has been reported about over the last week.

This has been expected for quite some time but her move to the main roster had been delayed. However, Dave Meltzer noted last week that her being moved is something that has been planned for probably close to a year.

Baszler entered into the Women’s Royal Rumble Match as a surprise entrant last month.

The belief is that Baszler will challenge Lynch for the RAW Women’s Title at WWE’s biggest event of the year, WrestleMania.

WWE presents the WrestleMania 36 pay-per-view event on Sunday, April 5, 2020 in Tampa, Florida at the Raymond James Stadium that will air on the WWE Network.

  • Jeff Hardy Injury Update

The latest update on Jeff Hardy\’s WWE status has surfaced online.

According to a report by PWinsider.com, he could be returning to action soon as he\’s scheduled to be at the WWE Performance Center in Orlando, Florida next week. He’ll be doing so in order to have his progress towards an in-ring return checked on.

While his deal with WWE was scheduled to expire on Sunday, March 1, it’s expected that WWE will add extra time to the contract to make up for the time he\’s been out.

WWE has done this with various stars in the past.

Hardy is slated to make his return to court on April 6th, which is the day after WrestleMania 36 to face the charges related to his DWI arrest from October 3, 2019 in Moore County, NC. This happened after he was arrested in Myrtle Beach, SC on July 13, 2019 for public intoxication.

It was reported last month that WWE officials have pushed Jeff to address his personal health as a result of those charges, which he has been working hard to do so.

Hardy underwent knee surgery back in May with the expected timeline that he is going to be out of action for approximately 6-9 months following surgery to repair a damaged knee.

  • Big Show Appearing On ‘Steve Austin: The Broken Skull Sessions’

The guest for the fourth episode of WWE Hall of Famer “Stone Cold” Steve Austin’s WWE Network show is set and it’s Big Show who will be appearing.

The guest for the show, “Steve Austin: The Broken Skull Sessions,” was recently announced.

Big Episode Of Steve Austin\’s Show

On Monday, WWE confirmed via a post on Twitter that Austin’s third guest will be none other than the future WWE Hall of Famer. The episode premieres on WWE’s streaming service on Sunday, Feb. 23 at 8 p.m. ET.

Austin has stated in previous interviews that he has already filmed a few episodes of the show. So far, WWE has aired one episode with one interview featuring a legend each month.

Last month, Austin had the chance to interview former WWE Champion Kane, which marked the third episode. Now, the fourth installment will see Big Show appearing.

Big Show was the surprise partner of Kevin Owens and Samoa Joe for their six-man tag team match against Seth Rollins and AOP on an episode of RAW last month. He made a follow-up appearance but has since been written off of television.

During his time away from WWE, he had to undergo the knife several times. In fact, in the last two years, he’s undergone five surgeries.

  • Becky Lynch Thinks She Should Be Making Money More Than Vince McMahon

Becky Lynch recently did an interview with TV Insider to talk about a wide range of topics.

In the interview, the WWE RAW Women’s Champion talked about how much money she should be making. This is where Lynch made some interesting comments including why she thinks she should earn more than WWE Chairman and CEO Vince McMahon.

“I should be making more in that whole company, everybody — Vince McMahon included. I want to change the game.

I want to prove that it doesn’t matter your gender, your race, your background, if you are doing the job and keeping people invested if you are keeping people interested, then you deserve to be paid at a level higher than anybody else.”

Lynch added or high as the best of them because when she looks around the arenas and the majority of the people are in her shirts.

She added that the majority of people hold signs for her. Thus, she thinks that WWE should pay her as such and that will be the way it will be.

Lynch makes her latest title defense as RAW Women’s Champion against Asuka on Monday’s episode of RAW in Ontario, CA at the Toyota Arena.
