Cody Rhodes says his contract with Wheatley American Vodka includes a clause letting him choose a legend to feature in the brand’s TV commercials. The WWE Champion shared the detail on his podcast while hosting his mentor and longtime friend DDP.
The pair talked about how Dusty Rhodes taught DDP to stay positive, the nWo, and more. Closing the episode, Rhodes brought up the partnership and the clause that lets him honor legends his own way:
“I did a contract recently; it’s not anything major or life-changing. Our friends at Wheatley, are indeed our friends at Wheatley. I did this contract recently and I put at the end; I just want to select a legend for the TVC portion. I wanted to be able to put someone from our Hall of Fame group, or one of our legends. I’ve come to realize that my only answer for why is that it’s the right thing to do,”
Rhodes already seems to have picked a legend for the role. Set photos last month showed him filming a commercial for the brand with Carmelo Hayes and Hall of Famer ‘Hacksaw’ Jim Duggan.
Cody Rhodes will defend his WWE Championship in a rematch against Gunther at this Friday’s episode of SmackDown. Things will be more complicated this time around, as Gunther has picked Sami Zayn to be the special guest referee for the match.
