Alba Fyre says WWE didn’t even offer her a new contract.
The wrestling star, now going by the name Kay Lee Ray, ended her 7-year-long run with WWE in April this year. Though unlike the other releases around the same time, Ray actually left the company when her contract expired. During a recent appearance on the Busted Open Radio, the former Secret Hervice member revealed some previously unknown details surrounding her departure from the promotion.
The former WWE star mentioned that she had been considering her options for a while, knowing her deal was coming up. Even then, Alba Fyre wanted to give WWE an advance notice to see what the company was offering her:
“I had been thinking for a while if I wanted to re-sign or not. But as I said before, I’ve been with WWE for a long time. So I at least wanted to give them the courtesy of having that conversation. I knew my contract was up in three weeks by the time I spoke to them, maybe four weeks.”
Didn’t Want To Be Offering Me Anything: Alba Fyre
Despite being featured regularly on TV as part of The Green Regime before her departure, however, Fyre was not even offered a contract renewal:
“It was at Mania, so I was like, ‘Look, I know we’re really, really busy right now. I’m not asking to have that conversation now, but can we have that possibly soon?’ Then unfortunately, I got the phone call the next week saying that they didn’t want to be offering me anything. On that, I was like, ‘Cool, this was the decision I was already heading towards anyway. If that’s the way we want to go, that’s fine.’”
Alba Fyre also talked about her run with the company during the interview. She mentioned that she can’t really be disappointed with her time in WWE as she was getting paid well to have fun with her friends. Though the Scottish star still wished that the promotion had given her a chance to show what she could really do on the main roster.
