Chelsea Green says attending the UFC Freedom 250 Fan Fest and advocating for human rights are not mutually exclusive, pushing back at fans who criticized her inclusion in the event.
WWE announced this week that Green is among several wrestlers set to appear at meet and greets during the fan fest in Washington, D.C. on June 13-14. Green has publicly supported trans rights and other causes that do not align with the current administration, prompting criticism from fans who accused her of prioritizing money over her values.
Green responded directly on social media.
“Doing my job and supporting the community are not mutually exclusive. I’ll continue to do what I can to advocate for human rights whether you approve or not.”
Green is one of WWE’s most frequently used talents for public and media appearances. She faced similar backlash last year after speaking positively about Hulk Hogan on the day of his death without addressing his racism controversy, a situation that led to her taking a social media break due to name calling and death threats.
Other WWE names announced for the UFC Freedom 250 Fan Fest include Charlotte Flair, The Miz, Trick Williams, The Usos, Tiffany Stratton, and Bron Breakker. The fan fest takes place at The Ellipse just outside the White House, with the June 14 fights on the South Lawn. Activities include a ceremonial weigh-in, live shows with UFC fighters, celebrity appearances, and a concert by Zac Brown Band.
