Chelsea Green Fires Back At Critics Over UFC White House Fan Fest Appearance

Chelsea Green says attending the UFC Freedom 250 Fan Fest and advocating for human rights are not mutually exclusive, pushing back at fans who criticized her inclusion in the event.

WWE announced this week that Green is among several wrestlers set to appear at meet and greets during the fan fest in Washington, D.C. on June 13-14. Green has publicly supported trans rights and other causes that do not align with the current administration, prompting criticism from fans who accused her of prioritizing money over her values.

Green responded directly on social media.

“Doing my job and supporting the community are not mutually exclusive. I’ll continue to do what I can to advocate for human rights whether you approve or not.”

Green is one of WWE’s most frequently used talents for public and media appearances. She faced similar backlash last year after speaking positively about Hulk Hogan on the day of his death without addressing his racism controversy, a situation that led to her taking a social media break due to name calling and death threats.

Other WWE names announced for the UFC Freedom 250 Fan Fest include Charlotte Flair, The Miz, Trick Williams, The Usos, Tiffany Stratton, and Bron Breakker. The fan fest takes place at The Ellipse just outside the White House, with the June 14 fights on the South Lawn. Activities include a ceremonial weigh-in, live shows with UFC fighters, celebrity appearances, and a concert by Zac Brown Band.

Chelsea Green Shares First Look At Her Role In ‘Blue Ridge’

Chelsea Green has shared the first look at her role in season two of the INSP TV series Blue Ridge, set to premiere July 19.

Green posted images on social media showing her as character Shelby Hughes alongside a message to the cast and crew.

“Set your alarms — Blue Ridge season 2 premieres July 19 on INSP TV. I’m honored to have been able to work alongside the amazing cast and crew of Blue Ridge. It was such a perfect introduction to TV. Thank you to Gary Wheeler for the opportunity to be Shelby.”

Blue Ridge follows a former Green Beret turned new sheriff and his two deputies as they investigate a murder in a town in the Blue Ridge mountains.

Green, the inaugural WWE Women’s United States Champion, recently returned to WWE programming following a heart procedure.

  • Chelsea Green Shares Recovery Update After SVT Operation

Chelsea Green Shares Recovery Update After SVT Operation

Chelsea Green has wasted no time celebrating a milestone in her recovery, announcing just one week after her heart procedure that she is off bed rest.

Green posted the update on X this morning alongside a photo of flower arrangements sent by friends and colleagues during her recovery week, including one from the WWE: Unreal docuseries team.

“1 week post op – off bed rest! One thing about me: sitting still is my nightmare. Thank you to everyone who called, texted, dm’d, etc. I felt very, very loved this week.”

Green underwent an SVT ablation procedure on May 4 to correct an irregular heartbeat known as supraventricular tachycardia, a condition that causes the heart’s upper chambers to beat abnormally fast. The condition had gone undetected for a decade before Green suffered an episode around WrestleMania 42 weekend in which her heart rate reached 228 beats per minute and remained elevated for nearly 15 minutes.

Despite being on bed rest throughout the week, Green maintained a presence on WWE programming through a social media video that aired on SmackDown last Friday. In it, she addressed Tiffany Stratton, with whom she has been building an on-screen friendship, and apologized for being unable to attend Stratton’s Women’s United States Championship defense against Kiana James, noting she had been trying to reach Stratton without success.

Green is a two-time Women’s United States Champion, with her second reign running from November 2025 to January 2026. An ankle injury has kept her out of in-ring competition since February, with the heart procedure adding a further recovery timeline on top of that setback.

  • Chelsea Green Undergoes Heart Procedure for SVT Condition

Chelsea Green Undergoes Heart Procedure for SVT Condition

Chelsea Green’s health situation has proven to be significantly more serious than the ankle injury that has kept her out of in-ring action for months, with the WWE star revealing on Instagram that she underwent a heart procedure after a decade of living with an undiagnosed condition.

Green shared a photo from her hospital bed, smiling alongside her husband, Matt Cardona, as she delivered the news with characteristic positivity despite the circumstances.

“After 10 years, doctors finally caught my SVT and I was able to get a heart procedure done! Three hours later and I’m on the mend.”

SVT, or supraventricular tachycardia, is a type of irregular heartbeat classified as an arrhythmia. According to the Mayo Clinic, it is a very fast or erratic heartbeat that affects the heart’s upper chambers. The condition can cause episodes of a racing heart, shortness of breath, chest tightness, and lightheadedness, and in Green’s case it went undetected by doctors for ten years before finally being identified.

The procedure she referenced is likely an SVT ablation, a treatment that uses cold or heat energy to create tiny scars in the heart that block the faulty electrical signals responsible for the irregular rhythm, restoring a normal heartbeat. The procedure typically takes between three and six hours, which aligns with the timeline Green described in her post.

Green’s last match was a losing effort to Tiffany Stratton in an Elimination Chamber qualifier on SmackDown in early February in a match that also included Lash Legend. Since then she has been working through an ankle injury, spending much of her SmackDown time in a wheelchair being pushed around by Alba Fyre as part of an on-screen dynamic. With Fyre released last week as part of WWE’s post-WrestleMania roster cuts, Green appeared alone on SmackDown most recently and showed signs of a new direction, popping out of her wheelchair and apparently forming an alliance with Stratton against Kiana James and Giulia.

Best wishes go out to Green for a full and speedy recovery from her procedure.

  • Chelsea Green Lobbies For AAA General Manager Role

Chelsea Green Lobbies For AAA General Manager Role

Chelsea Green is making it clear she wants in on AAA’s upcoming leadership change, responding to the lucha libre promotion’s General Manager search from the sidelines.

AAA announced that owner Marisela Peña will appoint a new General Manager on May 23 in Mexico City. Green quote-tweeted the announcement with a simple message: “I’ll be waiting,” alongside a phone emoji.

    Sidelined But Not Silent

Green has been out of action with an ankle injury that kept her off the WrestleMania 42 card entirely. While her timeline for an in-ring return remains unclear, the tweet suggests she has no intention of staying quiet while she recovers.

WWE and AAA have maintained a working relationship in recent years, with talent occasionally appearing across both promotions. Whether Green’s post is a genuine push for the role, a playful character moment, or a hint at something more remains to be seen.

Green was also among the WWE stars who reacted emotionally to the post-WrestleMania roster cuts last week, showing her investment in the locker room even while injured. Her willingness to insert herself into the AAA conversation fits the self-promotional character that has made her one of WWE’s most entertaining personalities on social media.

  • Chelsea Green Clears Up Ankle Injury Confusion

Chelsea Green Clears Up Ankle Injury Confusion

Chelsea Green has cleared up the confusion surrounding her ankle injury, explaining why she can walk normally despite breaking her ankle and why that still does not mean she is anywhere close to returning to the ring.

Speaking to The Sportster on April 18, Green addressed questions circulating about why she is not wearing a boot or appearing more visibly sidelined.

“So, the ankle is confusing, and I never know how to answer because everyone is like, ‘Well, why aren’t you in the boot?’” Green said.

She broke down the specific nature of the fracture, explaining that the location of the break is what makes her situation appear less severe than it actually is for an in-ring performer.

“Look — I broke my ankle, but I broke it on the side, which means it is weight-bearing. I’m okay to walk. However, there’s more nuance to wrestling than just running straight and walking. So it is still painful, but I can live my life normally — it’s just, unfortunately, I can’t wrestle normally,” Green said.

She offered one encouraging update, revealing that this week marked a small but meaningful milestone in her recovery. “But I hope to be back really soon, because this is my first week in heels.”

Green is missing in-ring action at WrestleMania 42 due to the injury, staying involved through media appearances and backstage work while she continues to recover. The former Women’s United States Champion had been building momentum on SmackDown before the setback.

  • John Cena Singles Out Chelsea Green as Perfect Example of Taking an Inch and Making It a Mile

John Cena Singles Out Chelsea Green as Perfect Example of Taking an Inch and Making It a Mile

John Cena knows what it is like to be on the verge of release before everything clicks, and he used that perspective to highlight Chelsea Green as a performer who embodies the mentality required to survive and thrive in WWE.

Speaking to The Undertaker and Michelle McCool on Six Feet Under, Cena drew on his own early career experience to make the point. Cena made a memorable debut against Kurt Angle but was lost in the shuffle shortly after and, by his own account, was nearly released before reinventing himself as the Doctor of Thuganomics. That character became the launching pad for a decade at the top of the company.

The lesson he took from that experience is one he sees Green applying in real time.

“There are performers like Chelsea Green, who is a great example, of taking an inch and making it a mile, and not being afraid to commit to what is right for business,” Cena said.

The Undertaker has also publicly declared his support for Green, making her something of a favorite among WWE’s most respected legends.

Cena is set to host both nights of WrestleMania 42, which takes place April 18-19 at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas.

  • Chelsea Green Details Embarrassing Bad Bunny Interaction

Chelsea Green Details Embarrassing Bad Bunny Interaction

Bad Bunny has a sense of humor.

Chelsea Green recently spoke to TMZ Sports as part of the WrestleMania press junket. She talked about things such as what are the right places to approach a wrestler in public, if Harvey Levin could survive in a tag team match in WWE and more.

During the talk, the former US Champion was also asked about celebrities who have stepped in the ring for WWE and which one of them is the most entertaining in her opinion. Chelsea Green suggested that Bad Bunny would have been in consideration for her if the Puerto Rican mega star had not embarrassed her during a backstage interaction:

“So, I would have hyped up Bad Bunny, but one time… backstage in WWE, he legit deadass looked me dead in the eyes and pretended he did not know how to speak English to me,

When I was talking to him about a movie role I had auditioned for that he was in, looked me in the eyes, pretended like he didn’t know English and then went out and cut a promo in English and I was so heartbroken and so embarrassed.”

With Bunny off the list, Green noted that both Logan Paul and Pat McAfee are very good in the ring. She picked Jelly Roll as her favorite over them, however, because she loves the music star.

Chelsea Green is not booked for a WrestleMania match this year because of a leg injury. She has been out of action since the Elimination Chamber PPV, but it’s likely that she’ll return to action after the Show of Shows.

  • Road Dogg Reveals Nixed Feud Idea For Chelsea Green

Road Dogg Reveals Nixed Feud Idea For Chelsea Green

Road Dogg is a fan of Chelsea Green.

The former SmackDown Head Writer, who resigned from his position earlier this year, recently took part in a virtual signing session for Signed by Superstars. During the session, the Attitude Era star was asked about his time in creative and if there were any ideas he had that did not make it to TV.

Replying to the question, Road Dogg, real name Brian James revealed that he had plans for a storyline between Zoey Stark and Chelsea Green. The wrestling veteran first praised Stark, saying that she is the best female wrestler he has seen in a long time, and that her ring work is second to none. Brian then explained that he wanted Zoey and Alba Fyre to kick Piper Niven out of the Secret Hervice. The story would have eventually led to a singles match between Stark and Green:

“I wanted Zoey Stark, I wanted her and then, Alba Fyre, to take over for Chelsea. They were gonna turn on Piper and put her out and put her through a table. Like really send her away for six months or something, and now you have these great two workers standing behind Chelsea… And then, you have ‘em realize, this dingbat. Hey, you turn on her. Piper comes back. They have a tag, then we go into a singles with Chelsea and Zoey.”

Road Dogg suggested that the pitch was rejected because not everyone was fan of Chelsea Green like he was, and people in the company ‘were getting hot’ at him for suggesting ideas for her. When asked who these people were, the 56-year-old did not name them, but claimed that he understands their point of view:

“I totally understand people not seeing her worth if you’re only looking through a top guy lens. Like if you’re only looking for a main event of WrestleMania, I can see you not having her in that vision. But I also see the potential that she could be in that vision. I firmly believe that and I’ll go to my grave believing it, and she’s the right kind of human being. She’s a workhorse. She says no to nothing and yes to everything. She kicked a 40-yard field goal with a broken ankle. For the love of God, the girl’s a national treasure.”

This is not the first we’ve heard about people backstage not seeing Green as a star. Longtime WWE producer Michael Hayes was recently criticized for suggesting that Chelsea’s job in the company was to just elevate other talents. Though according to the former US Champion, Hayes has since apologized for his remarks.

  • Steve Austin Offers Unique Praise To Chelsea Green

Steve Austin Offers Unique Praise To Chelsea Green

Steve Austin has praised Chelsea Green.

The former Women’s US Champion has received a lot of support in the industry since the Unreal controversy. Veteran producer Michael Hayes had suggested during an episode of the show that her role in the company was to elevate main event talents but not to be one herself. While Hayes has since apologized to the female star for his remarks, the support for her continues.

The Texas Rattlesnake joined this list during his recent interview with SI. Praising Chelsea Green’s ability in his own unique way, Stone Cold Steve Austin said that the former champion is pretty fearless:

“You’re an idiot when you first join the business. You just are, unless you’re Shawn Michaels and you kind of get it from day one. When you’re starving and you’re making $15 and $20 a night, you realize that you better get good pretty quick and learn how to reach people on an emotional level,

So you can start making some money. I think that Chelsea Green does that a lot of time. She’s pretty fearless out there. On a creative note, she’ll go for it, and it’s done well for her.”

Chelsea Green has been out of action the last few weeks, after suffering a broken ankle in a triple threat match on the February 6 SmackDown. There is no word on how long she will stay on the shelf.

During the interview, Steve Austin also talked about the neck injury of Kevin Owens and revealed what working with Vince McMahon was really like. You can check out his comments here.

  • Chelsea Green\’s Ankle is Healing Faster Than Expected

Chelsea Green is on the mend and in good spirits. Speaking with Denise Salcedo on the red carpet at the WWE 2K26 Creator Fest on February 23, Green provided the most encouraging update yet on her ankle injury — while delivering every bit of personality fans have come to expect from her.

Green confirmed she chipped her ankle rather than suffering a full break, calling herself fortunate given the circumstances.

\”I chipped my ankle, the side of it. It\’s painful, but I feel like I got very, very, very lucky,\” she said.

She added that her recovery is ahead of schedule.

\”I\’m healing up much faster than I thought I would be.\”

In classic Chelsea Green fashion, she noted she had already ditched her protective boot — though perhaps not for strictly medical reasons. \”I\’m out of the boot — but only for the fashion,\” she said, drawing laughs.

When asked about her potential timeline, Green was emphatic. \”No, no, no, I won\’t be [out long]. I\’d never be.\”

Green\’s injury was initially reported as a fracture after she sustained the ankle scare during SmackDown earlier this month. The injury also forced her out of her scheduled AAA Mixed Tag Team Championship defense.

Outside of the injury update, Green also shared that she is currently on a \”natural girl journey,\” having removed her hair extensions and taking Neutrifol vitamins for hair health. She quipped about the contrast of her full red carpet glam: \”I\’ve got 10 pounds of makeup on, so don\’t judge me.\”

  • Chelsea Green Confirms Broken Ankle

Chelsea Green has confirmed that her ankle injury from last week\’s SmackDown is actually a fracture, sharing the news through a tongue-in-cheek parody newspaper cover on social media.

The update escalates the severity from initial reports, which indicated WWE believed Green had suffered a bad sprain or bruise with no break detected. She\’s now publicly stating the ankle is broken, complete with an in-character mock front page playing off her over-the-top persona.

    Injury Timeline and Initial Reports

Green suffered the ankle injury during the February 6 SmackDown Elimination Chamber qualifier, a triple threat match involving Tiffany Stratton and Lash Legend. She was placed in a walking boot following the injury.

Early updates from PWInsider, Wrestling Observer, and other outlets cited WWE sources saying the injury appeared to be a significant ankle sprain or bruise with no fracture detected.

    AAA Title Loss on FOX

The injury forced an immediate change to AAA\’s February 7 broadcast on FOX. Green was pulled from the scheduled AAA World Mixed Tag Team Championship defense, with Ethan Page instead teaming with La Hiedra.

The makeshift team dropped the titles to Lola Vice and Mr. Iguana, ending Green and Page\’s reign due to circumstances beyond their control. The last-minute substitution couldn\’t salvage the match result.

    The Bad News

On February 11, Green posted her social media update confirming the ankle is actually broken, framing the announcement with the satirical newspaper graphic.

    Recovery Timeline Unknown

WWE has not publicly stated an expected recovery timeline for Green. A fractured ankle typically requires several weeks to months of healing depending on severity, though specific details about the break haven\’t been disclosed.

We wish Chelsea Green a full and speedy recovery.

  • Chelsea Green Injury Update After SmackDown Ankle Scare

Chelsea Green\’s ankle injury is a bruise and not a break, according to Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Daily Update, and she is not expected to miss significant time.

Green suffered the injury during Friday\’s Women\’s Elimination Chamber qualifying match on SmackDown, where she competed against Tiffany Stratton and Lash Legend. The injury forced her out of her scheduled AAA Mixed Tag Team Championship defense the following night.

Title Change on AAA on FOX

During Saturday\’s episode of AAA on FOX, Green appeared via FaceTime in a walking boot during a backstage segment with Ethan Page, confirming she was unable to compete. La Hiedra stepped in as Page\’s replacement partner, but the duo fell to Lola Vice and Mr. Iguana, who captured the AAA Mixed Tag Team Titles.

    Green Reacts on Social Media

Green took to X after the title change, writing, \”The AUDACITY of @luchalibreaaa to throw @OfficialEGO into a match like that after I almost ended my career on SmackDown last night from a near fatal fall. Ethan, we need to talk!!!\” She also shared photos of her badly bruised ankle.

While Green has played up the severity on social media — calling the injury \”career-threatening\” on Instagram — Meltzer\’s report suggests she should be back in action soon, which is welcome news heading into Elimination Chamber and WrestleMania season.

  • Chelsea Green Pulled From AAA Mixed Tag Team Title Match Due to Injury

Chelsea Green has been forced out of her scheduled AAA Mixed Tag Team Championship defense after suffering a foot injury on SmackDown.

Green was set to defend the titles alongside Ethan Page against Lola Vice and Mr. Iguana on Friday’s AAA on Fox broadcast, but an injury sustained during the February 6th episode of SmackDown derailed those plans. La Hiedra stepped in as Green’s replacement for the championship match.

In the bout that aired on February 7th, Lola Vice and Mr. Iguana defeated Ethan Page and La Hiedra to capture the AAA Mixed Tag Team Championships, ending Green and Page’s reign.

Green took to social media following the title loss, posting a photo of her foot in a walking boot while expressing her frustration with AAA’s decision to allow the match to proceed without her.

“The AUDACITY of [Lucha Libre AAA] to throw [Ethan Page] into a match like that after I almost ended my career on Smackdown last night from a near fatal fall,” Green wrote. “Ethan, we need to talk!!!”

The severity of Green’s injury and her expected timeline for return remain unclear at this time. The newly-crowned champions Lola Vice and Mr. Iguana now begin their reign as AAA Mixed Tag Team titleholders.

  • Chelsea Green Volunteers to be NXT General Manager

Chelsea Green has thrown her hat into the ring for the vacant NXT General Manager position, using her signature comedic approach to make her pitch.

The two-time United States Champion made her intentions clear in a playful tweet, stating: \”Hey @WWENXT I\’ll be your new GM. I know a thing or two about running a continent… How hard can one little company be ?????\”

Green\’s tweet comes after Ava vacated the NXT General Manager role on January 30, 2026. Known for her outspoken \”Karen\” persona, Green has a history of challenging authority figures like Adam Pearce.

Currently performing on SmackDown and part of The Green Regime stable with Piper Niven and Alba Fyre, Green holds both the Women\’s United States Championship and AAA World Mixed Tag Team titles.

As of now, WWE has not officially responded to Green\’s GM candidacy. NXT continues to air on The CW Network in the United States and on Netflix internationally.

  • The Fish Tank: TNA\’s AMC Era, R-Truth\’s \’Unreal\’ Move

It\’s hard to believe January is about to come to a close. I say that because given all the pro wrestling news the last few weeks, it feels like we\’ve already been through a year. All signs point to Will Hobbs to WWE, The Rascalz from TNA to AEW…and then Trey Miguel back to TNA, and a host of other jumps. And Chris Jericho to…depends on who you believe.

These are exciting times that bring us \”old school\” fans flashbacks to the days of WWE, WCW, and ECW. With TNA Thursday Night iMPACT arriving on AMC, that means we once again have three viable companies on major cable networks.

Whether you enjoy a respective product or not, if you\’re a fan you appreciate the fact there are options for men and women to work. Having those options also brings a level of competitiveness as well. Rising tides lift all ships.

    R-Truth Joins WWE\’s \’Unreal\’

This has been a fun start to 2026 for me. I enjoyed my candid talk with R-Truth leading into the premiere of WWE Unreal Season 2 on Netflix. Even if he still has me blocked on X, for what reason I don\’t know. I do remember it was around the time I did Total Divas recaps and may have mentioned his apparent fear of spiders? I\’m not sure, but the veteran certainly has one of the more intriguing stories on the docuseries.

I think the show really shines when it focuses on the human interest stories behind the performers like Chelsea Green. Speaking of the inaugural WWE United States Women\’s Champion, I think she has all the tools to be a main event caliber member of the division. A multi-faceted talent who can do it all, even headline WrestleMania. Yes, I said what I said. Remember Green is the same person who has overcome releases and injuries to be an important fixture on the shows.

    TNA Talent Making Waves

In January, I also had a chance to sit down with Mike Santana shortly before TNA\’s debut on AMC. His authenticity shines through as the now World Champion reflected on his journey including a battle with alcohol and substance abuse. Santana doesn\’t shy away from all he has been through, inspiring others. Sometimes we do get that feel-good moment, which these days are needed perhaps more than ever.

Keeping with the TNA media blitz, getting to speak with Jody Threat was also a lot of fun. This was shortly before it was announced she had re-signed with the company. I think the promotion has only scratched the surface of what she is capable of post Spitfire. She brings a fun energy and want to help others while achieving her own aspirations. There was a reason why Trish Stratus wanted to work out with her leading into her entry into the Royal Rumble.

Royal Rumble and MLW\’s Battle Riot

Speaking of the iconic event, that\’s also right around the corner. Although I don\’t feel the hype has really been there, but let\’s be honest, the match over the years really sells itself. I know people who don\’t watch WWE regularly, but will tune in to watch the over-the-top elimination battle royal.

Days before the big show MLW will present its own top show Battle Riot on January 29. I\’m looking forward to the company running Orlando again. Some of my favorite experiences at wrestling shows were put on by MLW. First, in the early days covering pro wrestling as a college student in South Florida when they\’d run the War Memorial Auditorium and then when Court Bauer relaunched MLW during those GILT Nightclub days.

Gearing up for the upcoming string of shows MLW is running, I chatted with Joe and Mark Coffey. The brothers are looking to make the most of their opportunity in the Battle Riot. Earlier this month SEScoops also dropped my interviews with legends Mistico and Blue Panther. The partnership between MLW and CMLL has proven fruitful with the big Lucha Apocalypto 2026 show on February 7 in Chicago already sold out.

    Rhonda Shear\’s Legacy

Closing out the month, it was a fun trip down memory lane with Rhonda Shear. If you watched USA Network in the 1990s including WWE, you may remember the USA Up All Night host. She relaunched the brand through streaming with hopes of growing it further.

Thinking about all her interactions with WWE superstars like Shawn Michaels and even appearances including WrestleMania X, it wouldn\’t be out of the question if we ever saw a Hall of Fame induction in the celebrity wing. She teased that Nic Nemeth will be on an upcoming episode of the new iteration of Up All Night. Your turn Silk Stalkings.

  • Chelsea Green Pitches WWE Unreal Spinoff

A number of current stars have spoken against the idea of WWE Unreal and their unease about divulging information about the business, which was considered sacred until this point. This isn\’t the case for Chelsea Green, however, who is happy to get even more spotlight on her and the women\’s locker room if possible.

The former Women\’s US Champion spoke about her enthusiasm during a recent interview with Page Six Radio to promote the S2 of the Netflix exclusive.

Chelsea Green proposed the idea of an Unreal spin-off focused on the Women\’s locker room during the talk, showcasing the lives of the various female stars:

\”If we had an unreal that was just the girls\’ locker room, which I would absolutely love. Let\’s put it into the universe. It would be interesting because I think 99.9% of us really get along. And we don\’t just get along. Like we really like to travel together.\”

Who Actually Doesn\’t Like Me: Chelsea Green

The idea is very similar to the highly successful Total Divas reality show, which ran for 9 seasons and was later spun off into Total Bellas. Green joked that it would also help her figure out which members of the locker room don\’t really like her:

\”We like to have our martinis together. We support each other when someone wins a title. You know, we\’re excited for each other, but like, it\’s still work. It\’s still a locker room. There are still so many different personalities. So it would be interesting to see who actually doesn\’t like me.\”

Chelsea Green later mentioned how Giulia almost took off her hair extension during their most recent segment, and suggested that something like that would have made a great story for the spin-off show.

  • Chelsea Green Defends Nia Jax as WWE Locker Room Leader Despite Backlash

Chelsea Green is standing firmly behind Nia Jax despite public backlash for defending the former WWE Women\’s Champion.

The two-time Women\’s United States Champion appeared on INSIGHT with Chris Van Vliet and passionately defended her colleague while discussing the realities of WWE\’s locker room dynamics.

\”I got really roasted on Twitter not that long ago for sticking up for her, but that girl, she is our locker room leader,\” Green declared. \”I don\’t care how many people dislike Nia Jax. She is such a good human being. I love her.\”

Green acknowledged the disconnect between fan perception and backstage reality.

\”No matter what, you guys are always going to watch on your TVs and you\’re going to see what you see. I\’m going to see what I see as a professional wrestler,\” she explained. \”But I know what went on behind the scenes before that moment happened that led to that moment.\”

Beyond defending Jax, Green expressed deep gratitude for the sisterhood she\’s found in an industry known for competition. \”I am so thankful for the friends that I have collected along the way because show business is very hard to make friends,\” she reflected. \”Everyone is kind of like competing and stepping over each other to get to the top. And I feel like I\’ve met this amazing group of core girlfriends and we support each other and we ride for each other.\”

Green specifically mentioned staying up until 3 AM in the Cotswolds to watch her friend Maxine become Intercontinental Champion. \”I don\’t watch wrestling for any old girl, but I\’ll watch it for Maxine,\” she said.

The champion also revealed her unexpected chemistry with tag partner Ethan Page, whom she describes as her \”twin.\” \”Every single time we are together, it\’s like the Spider-Man meme,\” Green said. \”I don\’t know who in NXT thought to put us together, but I owe them a lot of money. His facial expressions and the stuff that was coming out of his mouth was just like, \’Oh my god, I couldn\’t have said it any better.\’ And we actually get along, too. Which that\’s rare.\”

  • Chelsea Green Roasts Herself In Response To Haters

Chelsea Green has revealed that her Lucha Underground match against Pentagon Jr. remains her go-to response whenever critics question her in-ring abilities.

Speaking to Chris Van Vliet on INSIGHT, the two-time WWE Women’s United States Champion explained why the 2018 bout was one of the best decisions of her career, serving as permanent proof of her wrestling credentials.

“The best decision I ever made was that match because now when someone says I suck at wrestling, someone else says, ‘But did you see the Penta match?’ And I’m like, ‘Yeah, yeah, that one match in 2018,\’” Green said with a laugh.

Green was characteristically self-deprecating about her own contribution to the critically acclaimed match, humorously crediting Pentagon for doing all the heavy lifting.

“I think he literally wrestled himself. He wrestled himself. But I digress. He is amazing and so am I,” she joked.

When asked about Pentagon’s infamous chops—which have left visible welts on opponents throughout his career—and how painful they were on a scale of one to ten, Green revealed a surprising secret about the masked star’s technique that contradicts his brutal reputation.

“I’m not going to ruin his whole stick, but just know that it’s like a zero,” she admitted. “I think that’s the best part about him.”

Green elaborated on just how gentle Pentagon actually is, noting she felt no after-effects from their physical encounter.

“Honestly, I took a flight that night and normally if we fly after wrestling, it’s like, oh, it’s awful. And you wake up from the red eye and you’re like all like a tiny version of yourself all crumpled over. I felt nothing. He’s amazing.”

The revelation adds another layer to Pentagon’s mystique, suggesting his ability to create the illusion of devastating strikes while protecting his opponents is part of what makes him a master of his craft.

Green noted that many fans aren’t even aware of her time in Lucha Underground, which she considers part of what makes her journey to WWE unique among her peers.

“So many people don’t even know that I was in Lucha Underground. People don’t know that I was in Stardom, that I lived in Japan, that I was in TNA and was a Knockout champion. I have the coolest resume. Dare I say the coolest resume out of anyone in the women’s division.”

Pentagon, now known as Penta in WWE, recently made his highly anticipated debut for the company alongside his brother Rey Fenix. The former AEW stars signed with WWE following months of speculation about their future after their AEW contracts expired.

Green’s comments come at an interesting time, as both she and Penta are now under the WWE umbrella—potentially opening the door for a reunion or acknowledgment of their shared Lucha Underground history on WWE programming.

  • Chelsea Green Had To Google Ethan Page Before Their First WWE Appearance Together

Chelsea Green has revealed how her partnership with Ethan Page came together seemingly by chance, admitting she had to Google him before their first appearance together.

Speaking to Chris Van Vliet on INSIGHT, the two-time Women\’s US Champion explained that she received almost no advance notice about the pairing that has become one of WWE\’s most entertaining acts.

\”I got a call like the day before being like, \’Hey, you\’re going to come into NXT?\’ I said, \’Sure.\’ I just assumed I was going to have a singles match. And I showed up and they said, \’Oh, you\’re going to be with Ethan.\’ And I\’m like, \’Ethan who?\’ And then they said, \’Ethan Page.\’ I had to Google.\”

Despite the last-minute introduction, Green says she and Page share an inexplicable connection that makes their on-screen chemistry work perfectly.

\”I would also like to know this [why they work so well together]. Every single time we are together, it\’s like the Spider-Man meme always. It\’s very strange. I feel like he\’s like my twin,\” Green explained. \”I don\’t know who in NXT thought to put us together, but I owe them a lot of money when Ethan gets called up.\”

Green recalled the moment she realized the partnership would be special, noting Page\’s promo abilities immediately impressed her.

\”I remember being backstage and listening to him out in the ring when I was going to come out and do the first promo with him and his facial expressions and the s**t that was coming out of his mouth was just like, \’Oh my god, I couldn\’t have said it any better.\’ And we actually get along, too. Which that\’s rare.\”

The champion addressed her sister\’s observation that Page is \”stealing her spotlight,\” but Green sees it as the perfect dynamic for a successful partnership.

\”My sister called me the other day to tell me that he\’s stealing my spotlight and I think that that is a perfect partnership. I bet that his wife would probably say the same. That\’s what you should be doing. You should be trying to outshine each other but in the most productive way.\”

Green also praised Page for committing to her tradition of never wearing the same gear twice, noting that he\’s gotten new gear for every appearance alongside her.

  • Chelsea Green Recalls Being \”Sweating\” Nervous During Matt Cardona\’s WWE Return

Chelsea Green has opened up about experiencing the most nerve-wracking moment of her career when her husband Matt Cardona returned to WWE as Zack Ryder.

Speaking to Chris Van Vliet on INSIGHT, the Women\’s US Champion admitted she was overwhelmed watching Cardona\’s surprise appearance against LA Knight as part of the \”Last Time Is Now\” tournament on SmackDown.

\”I\’ve never been that nervous in my whole career. It\’s been 12 years of a lot of crazy moments. I was like sweating. I was so nervous,\” Green revealed. \”I\’ve never really had a chance to just sit in the crowd and listen to everybody react to Zack Ryder.\”

Green expressed relief when Cardona made it through the match safely, noting how unpredictable WWE can be with their plans.

\”I felt relieved when he came back because we\’ve got no broken bones. Nothing got f***ed up. Everyone cheered. And it went well, so I was happy. That\’s all you can ask for. It\’s wrestling, right? Like, crazy stuff happens all the time. As long as you come to the back and no one went, \’Ooh,\’ it\’s pretty good.\”

The champion also shared insight into WWE\’s unpredictable nature, explaining why she couldn\’t fully celebrate until the moment actually happened.

\”The crazy thing is that with WWE they can say something\’s going to happen and until you are—I want to say at the show—but even at the show things can change because it\’s live TV. So until I knew that LA Knight was walking to gorilla, I couldn\’t get excited because I have been on the receiving end of many \’oh you\’re going to get this, no maybe next week.\’\”

    Matt Cardona is Alwayz Ready

Green revealed that Cardona is always prepared for opportunities, keeping gear ready for years just in case WWE comes calling.

\”He\’s had gear ready for years. He really, seriously, he is always ready for a moment like that,\” she said. \”He\’s got MC or ZR knee pads always available. Closet full of potential moments.\”

In a humorous aside, Green also shared that Cardona\’s pre-match nerves manifested in an unusual way, describing her husband as a \”tanorexic\” who applied layer after layer of tanner before his big return.

  • Chelsea Green Explains \”Professional Loser\” Philosophy That Led To Two Championships

Chelsea Green has revealed the mindset shift that transformed her career from struggling wrestler to two-time WWE Women\’s United States Champion.

Speaking to Chris Van Vliet on INSIGHT, the Canadian star explained how embracing losing actually became her winning formula in WWE.

\”Look at where being a professional loser has got me. Just saying if you Google my name and my stats, they\’re not great, but we\’ve got these [championships],\” Green said.

\”I quickly realized that character work was my forte. I was trying so hard to be a professional wrestler. And then when I became Laurel Vanessa, I was like, \’Oh my god, I\’m doing way less work and people like it way more.\’\”

Green described herself as \”a glorified actress, a little bit of a stunt woman\” and admitted that her life has improved dramatically since changing her approach to the business.

\”Life has been so much better since I stopped trying to be a professional wrestler,\” she stated.

When asked how she feels about being described as a \”Karen\” character, Green embraced the label fully.

\”I think the squeaky wheel gets the grease. And if you don\’t ask, then you don\’t get. So I would rather be a Karen than not a champion. Not a double champion. Also being a Karen has kind of got me far in three years.\”

The champion also addressed why she\’s comfortable being the comedy act on WWE programming, explaining the business benefits that come with the role.

\”Why are you okay being the butt of the joke? Because it gets me views and it gets me a new contract and it gets me a raise and it bought me my new house. And honestly, hopefully in the next year it gets me numerous auditions. Hopefully this parlays into something even bigger than we could have ever imagined because I was able to just like tuck my tail between my legs and be the idiot.\”

Green noted that while she\’s willing to lose matches, she fights hard for memorable moments that fans will remember forever, citing her Money in the Bank ladder spot and the historic women\’s dumpster match as examples of \”hills worth dying on.\”

  • Chelsea Green Reveals How Viral Moment With Ethan Page Came About

Chelsea Green has revealed how her recent viral moment came about.

The Women\’s US Champion recently spoke to Chris Van Vliet for a new interview. Among other things, she was asked about her video with Ethan Page that recently went viral after the November 4 episode of NXT.

The show saw Joe Hendry crashing a celebration of Green and Page, with Thea Hail smearing both of them with cream. Chelsea did a backstage video after the episode where she claimed that she had \’never been creamed on like this before\’ and the whole thing became a social media hit.

Revealing how the video came about, Chelsea Green noted that it was something that she came up with on the spot. The current AAA Mixed Tag Champion claimed that she was shocked that the company decided to post the whole thing.

Though she later mentioned that she probably shouldn\’t be surprised since the officials have done similar things with Rhea Ripley and Dominik Mysterio before:

“Actually, that just came off the top of my head. No, I can’t believe they posted that. I am shocked. I came back from the creaming, I said it, and I was like, ‘Okay, do we need to redo that?’

And he was like, ‘No, I’m gonna post it.’ I’m like, what?!\” Ethan was like, ‘No, no, please God no!’ The things that I make that man do, oh my gosh. God bless him. But yeah, then they posted it, and it went viral. I was shocked.\”

Latest On LA Knight’s WWE Future After Raw Angle

Chelsea Green also talked about her pairing with Ethan Page, saying that she doesn\’t know who came up with the idea.

The WWE star revealed that she wasn\’t aware of Page\’s work before their partnership and had to google the NXT star when she was told they\’ll be working together. Though Green noted that she became a fan of the NXT North American Champion the first time she saw her promo.

  • Chelsea Green Working With Creative To Elevate Women\’s US Title

Chelsea Green is working directly with WWE\’s creative team to elevate the Women\’s US Championship, rejecting the notion that it should be viewed as a midcard title.

The current champion revealed she\’s actively collaborating with creative to restore prestige to the title and ensure it\’s taken as seriously as the Women\’s World Championship.

\”This time around, I\’m trying to make it different while still making it equally entertaining,\” Green explained. \”I want to make sure that I elevate it. I\’ve already been talking to the creative team about how we can kind of do a little damage control on it and make sure that it means something. Let\’s put it on a pedestal, you know? Let\’s elevate it and make it mean something because at the end of the day, it doesn\’t need to be a midcard title. It\’s just a title.\”

    A Third \”Women\’s World Title\”

Green emphasized that fans should view the US Championship with the same importance as any other women\’s title in WWE.

\”You should equally fear me the way you fear Jade Cargill,\” she said. \”You should equally want my championship the same way that you want the women\’s world championship when you walk into that Royal Rumble.\”

The champion also discussed the difference between her first and second US title reigns, noting that her initial run was deeply emotional as she hoped to win the championship in front of friends and family at Survivor Series.

\”My heart and my soul went into that first title reign,\” Green reflected. \”There was so much that I put in that year before I was chosen to win this. So that obviously it\’s a memory that lives rent-free in my head and it will for the rest of my life.\”

For her current reign, Green\’s priority remains entertainment:

\”If you know me, you know that entertainment is where I thrive and so I\’m just going to make it as entertaining as I possibly can because that\’s the only thing I have control of.\”

Green regained the title from Giulia on the November 7 episode of SmackDown, becoming the first-ever two-time Women\’s US Champion. In the same interview, she discussed ending her underdog narrative and embracing her success.

  • Chelsea Green\’s Diva Renaissance: “Stop Putting People In Boxes”

Chelsea Green is leading a “Diva Renaissance” in WWE, proudly embracing the label that was once used to diminish women’s wrestling and proving femininity and athletic excellence aren’t mutually exclusive.

The Women’s US Champion discussed how she was initially criticized for wanting to be a diva when she entered the wrestling business, but has since fully embraced the identity.

“When I first started wrestling, I was kind of poo pooed for wanting to be a diva and I realized like, no, I’m going to embrace it,” Green explained. “I got into this because I loved Kelly Kelly, who I think is the ultimate diva. I think Nikki Bella is a perfect example of, you know, she was the ultimate diva and she also embraced being a WWE superstar, period.”

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dSNzgoNWbQ4

Green emphasized that modern female wrestlers can embody traditionally feminine qualities while still being elite in-ring performers.

“I love Tiffany for that. I think Tiffany is a perfect example. Maxine and I talk about this. You can wear pink. You can be sparkly. You can be girly. You can care about your nails and your lashes and your tan and your hair and you can still kick ass and be the best wrestler in the world,” she said. “So why are we putting people in boxes? Stop caring that I label myself a diva.”

The champion also revealed the immense responsibility she felt when trusted with Nikki Bella’s first singles match in seven years.

“Someone and I think Nikki trusted me with her first singles match back,” Green said. “She is the epitome of women’s wrestling. She is the tippy top. You don’t get any higher than Nikki Bella. I’m sorry. You just don’t. And so many eyes were on her. So many eyes wanted her to succeed. So many eyes wanted her to fail. And so I just wanted to do her justice and her legacy justice. I didn’t want her to come back and feel ashamed or embarrassed. I wanted her to feel empowered in that moment.”

Green named her “Diva Mount Rushmore” as herself, Natalya, Kelly Kelly, and Nikki Bella, cementing her place among the women she believes defined the era.

In the same interview, Green discussed working with creative to elevate her championship and the truth about WWE’s women’s locker room.
