Update On Ronda Rousey After Revolution Appearance

Ronda Rousey’s AEW future is in limbo.

The former UFC Champion made a surprise appearance at the Revolution PPV last Sunday and teased a future match with Toni Storm. With the former AEW Women’s Champion having been written off TV on the following Dynamite, however, fans have been left questioning what will happen to this story.

Fightful Select provided an update on the matter recently. They suggested that Ronda Rousey is not signed to the company, and there is no confirmation of any additional appearances for her:

“When we asked AEW sources about Ronda Rousey’s status, nobody told us she was signed by the company. AEW hasn’t confirmed if she’s planned for additional appearances, but we’re told they’re open to it. A lot creatively changed for the immediate future with Toni Storm’s injury.”

The site also noted that the company does not have creative plans in place for Toni Storm’s return anytime soon, and her absence is believed to be for an indefinite amount of time.

With Storm out of the picture for the foreseeable future, it seems unlikely that the UFC legend will return to the company anytime soon. Though we are likely to get a better idea about Rousey’s wrestling future after her upcoming fight with Gina Carano in May.

  • Toni Storm Facing Extended AEW Hiatus Due to Injury

Toni Storm Facing Extended AEW Hiatus Due to Injury

“Timeless” Toni Storm is facing a significant absence from AEW after a legitimate injury forced her out of Wednesday’s Dynamite. Per Bryan Alvarez of the Wrestling Observer, Storm will be out of action for “a long time” due to undisclosed injury or injuries.

Alvarez confirmed the situation is not a worked angle. “All I know is this was a legitimate replacement, meaning something actually happened to Toni,” Alvarez said on Wrestling Observer Radio. “She clearly seems to have got hurt because she wasn’t cleared for the show. But it wasn’t until the last minute.”

Just ten minutes before the March 18 episode of AEW Dynamite went on the air, AEW posted a clip showing Storm laid out in her locker room in a pool of blood, with Mina Shirakawa and Luther attending to her as Renee Paquette rushed to the scene. Storm was subsequently pulled from her advertised No Holds Barred rematch against Marina Shafir and announced as not medically cleared to compete.

Shirakawa stepped in as Storm’s replacement and defeated Shafir with a Storm Zero piledriver. AEW has not provided any official update on the nature or severity of the injury, and it remains unclear whether Shirakawa will step into whatever creative direction had been planned for Storm going forward.

    Storm’s Road to Revolution

Storm’s most recent in-ring appearance came at AEW Revolution on March 15, where she defeated Shafir in a hard-hitting match. The rivalry between the two women dates back to last year, with their feud escalating through a high-stakes hair vs. hair match at AEW Grand Slam: Australia in February.

Following the Revolution match, Ronda Rousey made a surprise appearance to confront Storm — and as the two were being separated, Shafir landed a cheap shot on Storm. That sequence now appears to have played a role in Storm’s current physical condition, though AEW has not confirmed specifics.

The extent of Storm’s injuries and her official return timeline remain unknown. With one of AEW’s top stars now on the shelf for an indeterminate period, the promotion faces a significant gap in its women’s division — and all eyes will be on whether Shirakawa steps into a more prominent role in the weeks ahead.

  • Unsanctioned Match And More Added To Wednesday’s Dynamite

Unsanctioned Match And More Added To Wednesday’s Dynamite

Two big stipulation matches have been added to Dynamite.

The Revolution PPV tonight saw Toni Storm picking up a victory over Marina Shafir in a singles match. The former Women’s Champion did not end the segment on top, however, as Ronda Rousey made a surprise AEW appearance, and the distraction allowed Shafir to deliver a cheap shot to Storm.

The company confirmed that their rivalry will continue after this turn of events, and announced a No Holds Barred rematch between the two women for this Wednesday’s show.

This wasn’t the only match made official as Gabe Kidd hijacked the post-Revolution press conference. This came after the team of Darby Allin, Orange Cassidy, & Roderick Strong defeated Kidd, Clark Connors, and David Finlay in a Tornado Trios Match at the PPV.

Kidd demanded an opportunity to end Darby Allin once and for all during his appearance. He proposed an Unsanctioned Coffin Match for this week’s episode of Dynamite between the two, which Tony Khan later approved.

During the media scrum, Khan also commented on Ronda Rousey’s status with the company after her debut. You can check out what he said here.

  • Watch: AEW Star Loses Hair At Grand Slam: Australia

Wheeler Yuta has lost his hair.

Tonight\’s AEW Grand Slam Australia event featured a mixed tag team match between the teams of Toni Storm & Orange Cassidy and Marina Shafir & Wheeler Yuta. The stipulation of the bout stated that the person who gets pinned will have to lose their heir.

Unfortunately for the Death Riders, it was Yuta who lost the match for his team. Luther, who accompanied Storm for this match, then ended up shaving the head of the former Trios champion:

The show also featured a big #1 contender\’s match between Andrade and Hangman Page. Don Callis was at ringside for this bout.

The ending of the match saw Callis distracting the referee as Andrade tried to take Page out with a low blow. The former AEW Champion, however, countered with a kick of his own. Hangman then delivered the buckshot lariat to become the new #1 contender for MJF\’s title.

  • Mixed Nuts Mayhem And More Added To AEW World\’s End This Saturday

Some interesting new matches were added to World\’s End at AEW Christmas Collision this week.

The show featured the final group stage matches of the Continental Classic tournament, with Kazuchika Okada, Konosuke Takeshita, Kyle Fletcher, and Jon Moxley emerging as semi-finalists who will move on to the show this Saturday.

Darby Allin also confirmed his in-ring return for the upcoming PPV. He accepted the challenge issued by Gabe Kidd after the latter attacked him on Dynamite this Wednesday.

Apart from this, a \’Mixed Nuts Mayhem\’ bout pitting The Death Riders against the Conglomeration was announced. The Death Riders will be competing without Mox, while their opponents will be joined by Toni Storm for this bout.

  • Inaugural Women\’s Tag Champions Crowned On Dynamite

    An unexpected crowning on Dynamite.

AEW presented the annual Winter is Coming special of Dynamite from Gateway Center Arena in College Park, Georgia, tonight. The show opened with the finals of the Women\’s Tag Team Championship tournament.

The duo of Harley Cameron & Willow Nightingale squared off against Mina Shirakawa & Toni Storm in the opening match of the night. Shirakawa and Cameron started the bout, and it wasn\’t long before we got a brawl with all four contestants in the ring.

After an impressive showing, the four women once again found themselves facing each other in the ring at the same time. The Timeless Love Bombs were able to get the advantage, and Toni delivered the Storm Zero on Harley in what many thought would be the ending of the bout.

Willow, however, somehow managed to break the fall. Nightingale then brought the Timeless one out of the ring with her and took the former AEW Women\’s Champion out with a big DDT on the floor.

Back in the ring, Shirakawa continued battling Cameron and delivered a number of moves. Harley managed to stay in the match and got the upper hand with an inverted DDT at the last second. She then tagged in her partner, and Nightingale finally delivered a Doctor Bomb on Mina to get the win for her team.

The inaugural Women\’s Tag Team Champions were interviewed by Renee Paquette after the bout. The Timeless Love Bombs then congratulated them in the ring to end the segment.

  • AEW Women\’s Tag Title Tournament Finals Set for Winter Is Coming

A couple of new matches have been announced for the Winter Is Coming special of Dynamite next week.

Tony Khan had previously announced that Samoa Joe would be defending his AEW Title against Eddie Kingston at the special, after the latter had called out the World Champion.

This week\’s episode of Dynamite then saw the duo of Toni Storm and Mina Shirakawa, known as Timeless Love Bombs, squaring off against Megan Bayne & Marina Shafir in the second semifinal of the AEW Women\’s Tag Team title tournament.

The ending of this bout featured Luther making his return as Santa Claus. He brought a shoe wrapped as a gift with him, which Toni Storm used to take down Shafir and win the match.

The Love Bombs will now face Willow Nightingale and Harley Cameron, known as Babes of Wrath, in the finals of the tournament to determine the Inaugural Women\’s tag champions next week.

This wasn\’t the only match announced for the show tonight as the company confirmed that  ‘Hangman’ Adam Page will be taking on Powerhouse Hobbs and Katsuyori Shibata of The Opps in a tag team match at the show.

Page\’s tag team partner has not been announced as of this writing, but latest events indicate that it could be none other than his arch-rival Swerve Strickland.
