  • AEW Star Cleared For Action After 7 Months

Thunder Rosa is back in AEW.

This week\’s episode of Dynamite featured Renee Paquette interviewing Kris Statlander in a backstage segment after she lost her AEW Women\’s World Championship to Thekla last week.

Statlander was joined by none other than a returning Thunder Rosa, who had not been seen on AEW programming since the All In Texas PPV last July.

Kris first confirmed that she was not cleared to compete after her brutal match last week, but said that she still wants to fight the new Women\’s Champion and make her pay.

Thunder Rosa then joined in on the conversation and revealed that she was finally cleared for action. The Mexican star then warned Thekla that she was coming for her in a Spanish promo. When Statlander tried to warn Rosa about the Toxic Spider, the AEW veteran dismissed the concern saying that she was better than ever.

It\’s unknown how long Kris Statlander will stay out of action but it seems likely that we will see Thekla defending her title against Thunder Rosa in the coming times.

Tonight’s show also featured a promo battle between AEW Champion MJF and Hangman Page where the challenger proposed a big stipulation for their upcoming Revolution match. You can check out more about it here.

  • Thunder Rosa\’s Wrestling Return Announced

Thunder Rosa is making her highly anticipated in-ring return at Riot Cabaret Pro Wrestling\’s Thunderwall event on April 28, 2026, where she will compete in a championship title unification bout against Alexxis Falcon.

Rosa currently holds the Riot Cabaret Women\’s Championship, a title she has maintained since October 2024.

Thunder Rosa\’s has been out of action since July 2025, when she competed in the Casino Gauntlet match at AEW All In Texas. Following that event, she announced a hiatus due to an undisclosed injury.

Throughout the fall, she provided updates on her recovery. In November, she made clear that her health was her top priority, saying \”given the circumstances right now, I can\’t be in the ring. So, people have to move on… for me right now, my health is super important for the rest of my career.\” (Masks, Mats and Mayhem)

  • Thunder Rosa Announces Split With Husband After 14 Years

Thunder Rosa has announced her separation from husband, Brian Cervantes.

The AEW star revealed the news on social media, mentioning that they have decided to go their separate ways after 14 years together.

Rosa noted that the decision was taken in a friendly and respectful manner, and she is grateful for the chance to adopt Cervantes\’ son Anakin as her own during this time:

\”After 14 years together, Brian Cervantes and I have decided to go our separate ways in a friendly and respectful manner. Relationships sometimes change shape, but the care and respect remain.\”

The female star also thanked her husband for supporting her career. In a 2020 interview with Chris Van Vliet, Thunder Rosa had told the story of how Brian had promised to take care of their family, allowing her to pursue wrestling full time with Lucha Underground season 3.

The LU stint as Kobra Moon opened the doors for the Mexican star to compete in promotions such as ROH and NWA before her AEW signing in 2020.

The former champion is currently on a break from wrestling. She hasn\’t competed since the All Out Texas PPV in July, where she was part of the Casino Gauntlet match. There is no word on when she will return to the ring.

  • Thunder Rosa Eyes Britt Baker Rematch Amid DMD\’s AEW Absence

Thunder Rosa would love the chance to step back in the ring with Britt Baker, but is unsure if that will happen at an AEW event. During a recent appearance on Masks, Mats and Mayhem, Rosa was asked about whether she and Baker will ever resume their rivalry.

\”I would love to. I think it would be a good idea to close the chapter on our story and do it right… That’s what I’m saying — it’s time to finish the story.\”

While Rosa would love the chance to \’finish the story,\’ she was quick to acknowledge that \”It\’s not up to me. It\’s not up to her.\” Rosa added that booking decisions are \”above my pay grade\” before reflecting on what continuing their feud could mean.

\”I think it’s a matter of respect, right? Like, she might feel disrespected. She wants to get the respect back from the locker room.\”

Rosa and Baker feuded in 2020 and 2021, and it was Rosa who ended Baker\’s reign as the AEW Women\’s World Champion. Earlier this year, Rosa challenged Baker to a hair vs. hair match at AEW All In: Texas, though the challenge went unanswered.

Baker hasn\’t wrestled for AEW since November 2024, when she defeated Penelope Ford on an episode of AEW Dynamite. That match was just the fifth match of 2024 for the DMD in an alarming stat for somebody once seen as AEW\’s top woman.

Britt Baker\’s future with AEW remains in limbo, despite Tony Khan speaking highly of her. Should Britt Baker make a return to AEW TV, though, Thunder Rosa will be waiting for her.

  • Thunder Rosa Provides Update On Recovery From Undisclosed Injury

Thunder Rosa is expecting to return soon.

The former AEW Women\’s World Champion recently had an interview with Midnight Movie Trash. She talked about things such as her Mission Pro Wrestling promotion going on hiatus, what inspired her to start her Taco vlog and more.

The female star also revealed what she\’s been up to during her absence from AEW TV. She mentioned things like being a part of the mega procession of Catrinas and her work with the NFL. Thunder Rosa then explained that her rehab is going well and she is expecting to return to the ring fairly soon:

\”I’m just focusing on continuing my rehab for the injuries that I just had a couple months ago and I have really good news. Everything’s going really well so I’m expecting to return to the ring fairly soon.”

The Mexican star last wrestled during the All In Texas PPV back in July this year. She was part of the #1 Contender Casino Gauntlet match for the Women\’s title, which was won by Athena.

The nature of her injury is unknown as Thunder Rosa had only announced that she\’ll be taking a break from wrestling after the PPV. We\’ll have to see what the company has planned for her upon her return.

  • Thunder Rosa: WWE in Saudi Arabia Won\’t Change Society

WrestleMania 43 is officially headed to Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, marking the biggest step yet in WWE’s partnership with the kingdom. At the press conference announcing the event, Bianca Belair offered her perspective on what the move means for women in wrestling.

“[Saudi Arabia is] a space specifically for women to make amazing moments.”

The role of women’s wrestling in Saudi Arabia has often been a hot-button topic, and AEW star Thunder Rosa weighed in with a much more critical take. Speaking on Busted Open Radio, Rosa argued that WWE’s deal with Saudi Arabia ultimately comes down to money.

“They give them money. We’re gonna give you a show. That’s it. The stakeholders are calling the shots. And you have to go for what they tell you to do.”

While Rosa acknowledged the progress WWE’s women have made by competing in Saudi Arabia, she questioned whether those milestones create any lasting societal change.

“You’re not gonna change how society looks at women in these countries. This is part of historical religions and everything else.”

The announcement of WrestleMania 43 has already been met with backlash online, with many fans echoing Rosa’s belief that money is the driving factor. With less than two years to go before WWE’s biggest event of the year lights up Riyadh, the company faces an uphill battle convincing parts of its fanbase that the move is more than financial.

  • Thunder Rosa To Go On Hiatus From AEW

Following reports last week that she was dealing with an injury, former AEW Women\’s World Champion Thunder Rosa has now confirmed that she is taking time off from the company. She made the announcement in a new video published to her YouTube channel.

In a vlog recapping her experience during the AEW All In: Texas weekend, Thunder Rosa addressed her current status. After a long weekend of competition, she stated that she would be taking a break.

Rosa\’s announcement confirms an earlier report from Dave Meltzer of F4WOnline.com that she was dealing with an undisclosed injury. Her time off comes after a grueling weekend where she competed in the Women\’s Casino Gauntlet match at All In and also challenged Athena for the Ring of Honor Women\’s World Title at the Supercard of Honor event.

Thunder Rosa now joins a growing list of injured talent in the AEW women\’s division. As was also reported following the All In pay-per-view, Mina Shirakawa suffered a broken hand during the same Casino Gauntlet match that Rosa competed in. The loss of two veteran stars presents a new challenge for the depth of the division.

  • Thunder Rosa Issues Hair vs. Hair Challenge To Britt Baker

AEW star Thunder Rosa is aiming to escalate her memorable feud with Dr. Britt Baker, D.M.D., to a deeply personal level. She\’s done so by issuing a \”hair vs. hair\” match challenge. Rosa, a former AEW Women\’s World Champion, laid down the gauntlet on her recent vlog.

\”I threw a challenge, just a little challenge, hair vs. hair against my nemesis Britt Baker,\” Rosa stated directly. She explained her motivation: \”The reason why I\’m doing it is, one, I know there is money on the table. Two, she\’s bonded by blood with me. She cannot get rid of my name, no matter what happens [laughs]. Ever. That gives me a lot of pleasure.\”

Rosa\’s and Baker\’s rivalry is one of AEW\’s most notable due to their matches. It features brutal battles such as their historic Unsanctioned Lights Out match, which saw both women bleed all over the place, and multiple AEW Women\’s World Championship changes between them. This new challenge adds another intense chapter to their story should AEW go through with it, which is a big question.

Currently, Baker has not wrestled on AEW television since November 2024, and her return date is unknown. Should she accept Rosa\’s challenge, it would undoubtedly be a highly expected and dramatic confrontation.

  • Thunder Rosa Names Released WWE Star She Wants In AEW

Following the WWE talent releases last week which included names like Braun Strowman, Dakota Kai, and Shayna Baszler, speculation immediately began about where these wrestlers might land next. AEW star Thunder Rosa didn\’t wait long to voice who she\’d like to see join her in All Elite Wrestling.

Speaking on SiriusXM\’s Busted Open Radio shortly after the news broke, the former AEW Women\’s World Champion specifically singled out former NXT Women\’s Champion and WWE Women\’s Tag Team Champion Shayna Baszler. Rosa has strong admiration for Baszler\’s abilities and experience, making her think Baszler would be a welcomed addition to the AEW roster.

“Shayna Baszler. I love Shayna. I’ve always loved her,\” Thunder Rosa stated emphatically. \”And I think she’s solid on everything she does. She’s really good at cutting promos, she has a lot of experience on TV. I think that she’ll be great…”

Rosa elaborated on a specific role she sees for Baszler in AEW: “I think we need more women in those men\’s stables. I think it adds more to things… I think Shayna would add a lot to that mix.”

  • Thunder Rosa Addresses Controversial AEW Dynamite Segment and Backstage Fallout

Last week’s AEW Dynamite featured an unusual moment involving Thunder Rosa, who ran in with a chair to help Kris Statlander but hesitated, creating an awkward pause. The segment was later heavily edited for AEW Collision, leaving fans wondering what went wrong.

Speaking on Busted Open Radio, Rosa acknowledged the mishap, explaining that she refrained from swinging the chair out of concern for safety. She emphasized the importance of communication in wrestling and reaffirmed her passion for the business.

Addressing speculation about potential backstage tensions, Rosa dismissed any notion of drama. She stated that she, Statlander, Penelope Ford, and Megan Bayne had a positive discussion afterward and took the situation as a learning experience. Rosa made it clear that mistakes happen, but the focus remains on growth and teamwork within AEW.

  • Chinese New Year: Looking Back At Wrestling\’s Famous Snakes

Today, January 29, marks the start of the Chinese New Year, which this year is the Year of the Snake. With that in mind, let\’s look back on some of the most iconic legless reptiles from the world of professional wrestling.

Stone Cold Steve Austin (\”The Texas Rattlesnake\”)
Known as \”The Texas Rattlesnake,\” Stone Cold Steve Austin proved to be as slippery as the serpent with his \”Don\’t Trust Anybody\” attitude. Despite this, the Texas Rattlesnake would hold tag team gold multiple times, and is one of WWE\’s biggest ever stars.

    Jake \”The Snake\” Roberts
One of the most iconic wrestlers associated with snakes, Jake Roberts carried a python named Damien to the ring. He was known for his psychological warfare, methodical in-ring style, and devastating DDT finisher. His career would often see him use his pet snake to scare his opponents senseless.

    CM Punk’s Anaconda Vice
CM Punk’s signature submission move, the Anaconda Vice, is a jiu-jitsu-inspired chokehold that immobilizes opponents. Like the move, the Anaconda is a snake that constricts its prey, reflecting its crushing effectiveness.

    Randy Orton (\”The Viper\”)
Nicknamed \”The Viper\” due to his cold, calculating in-ring style, Randy Orton remains one of WWE\’s top stars. The elusions to snakes continue in the ring for Orton, who often slithers on the mat before delivering an RKO.

    Santino Marella (\”The Cobra\”)
Santino Marella often used The Cobra, a comedic yet surprisingly effective finishing move. The move would prove to be even more \’dangerous\’ when the former Intercontinental Champion added a snake-themed sock to his arm.

    The Cobra
Years before Santino Marella would use the name for his finisher, The Cobra competed in the in the 70s and 80s. Played by George Takano, The Cobra was a two-time (and final) WWF Juniour Heavyweight Champion.

    Kobra Moon (Lucha Underground)
A dominant female wrestler in Lucha Underground, Kobra Moon was the leader of the Snake Tribe. Her character was portrayed as a cunning and manipulative queen with snake-like agility. Kobra Moon is better known today as former AEW Women\’s World Champion Thunder Rosa.

  • Thunder Rosa Highlights Penta\’s Struggles After Raw Debut

Thunder Rosa got emotional talking about Penta\’s WWE debut.

The masked star defeated Chad Gable in his debut match on this week\’s episode of Raw. The wrestling star\’s whole family was at the ringside for this moment and their emotion showed what the night meant for the 39-year-old.

Thunder Rosa who has worked with the high-flying star in multiple different companies talked about the whole thing on Busted Open Radio recently. The former AEW Women\’s Champion first highlighted the struggles of both Penta and his brother Rey Fenix from a very early age:

\”Penta\’s been a friend of mine for a while. I got really close once he came to AEW, I\’ve worked with him since Lucha Underground. So I\’ve seen his rise to every platform that he\’s worked. Seeing him with his family, like his daughters, I met his daughters, I hang out with his daughters, his wife. It was very special, because he started working.

And his place of birth, which is Ecatepec de Morelos, which is one of the most dangerous places in Mexico City. Him and his brother worked so hard from, you know, carrying things in Mercado De Abastos [Farmer\’s market], five, six days a week. Then they were training, and they were getting paid, literally, they call it Luchadores Moleros, which is they get paid by a soda and a plate of food.\”

It Means A Lot: Thunder Rosa

Thunder Rosa herself got emotional discussing the importance of representation for the Hispanic community. She proclaimed that Penta\’s debut is a proud moment for her:

\”So just imagine that. That was like probably 20 years ago, when they both, both of them started. Seeing them how they have been able to transcend barriers in everything, because they both had to learn English at a older age.

Seeing what he said like it really got in my heart, because I\’ve seen his struggles, and I sat with him and he\’s all about business. He has a great influence in me, personally. I get a little emotional because at a time in where things are changing so quickly, seeing someone like that being an example of hard work takes you to places, and you will utilize every platform that you can to become successful, it means a lot.

Representation means everything. This is a beautiful moment for Hispanics in professional wrestling, because finally, we are seeing some change, and we\’re seeing that they\’re respecting our traditions and that we\’re given a space where we can be ourselves. So that\’s why I was so proud.\”

  • Thunder Rosa Talks Friendship Betrayal During AEW Title Reign

Thunder Rosa\’s AEW Women\’s World Championship was a long-time coming for her, but took the 38-year-old on an emotional rollercoaster full of highs and lows. In a conversation with Tim Rivera, Thunder Rosa reflected onher 2022 championship victory. Though she felt unprepared to take on the role of AEW\’s top woman, Rose appreciated the looks of recognition she received at the time.

\”I don’t think mentally I was ready for it… The good was, like, you create history, you get a bigger platform, and you’re at another level now. People see you with different eyes, they see you as the s***.\”

Unfortunately for Rosa, her title reign also shared an uglier side to wrestling, including those she had considered friends betraying her trust.

\”It’s heartbreaking when friends turn on you, or when people you thought you could trust prove you can’t. You have to stay strong through it all.”

Thunder Rosa won the gold from Britt Baker in March 2022 in a steel cage match at the St. Patrick\’s Day Slam edition of Dynamite. In August, she suffered a back injury and would relinqush the title in November of that same year.

Thunder Rosa Furious Over ‘Lies’ About Her Health

Rosa stopped short of naming who betrayed her trust, but the highs and lows of her title reign remain a pivotal chapter of her AEW career. Stay tuned to SEScoops for the latest on Thunder Rosa and see whether she holds the title ever again.

  • Thunder Rosa Returns To Action

Less than a week after announcing she was medically cleared, AEW star Thunder Rosa has made her in-ring return. Rosa had been sidelined for over a month, with her last match taking place on the August 31st edition of AEW Collision.

Rosa recently revealed that her absence was due to a concussion, addressing speculation that suggested other reasons. Now fully recovered, the former AEW Women’s Champion expressed her readiness to step back into the ring.

Rosa confirmed her medical clearance during a recent episode of Busted Open Radio, where she also expressed her gratitude to the AEW medical team for their support throughout her recovery.

    Back in action

Wasting no time, Rosa returned to the ring on October 15 at Riot Cabaret Thunder Road, where she faced Nina Samuels in the main event. Rosa emerged victorious, winning the Riot Cabaret Women’s Championship.

Rosa should be back in the mix on Dynamite and Collision soon.

  • Thunder Rosa Announces She’s Medically Cleared For In-Ring Return

Thunder Rosa will be returning to in-ring action soon following her announcement today that she has been medically cleared.

Fans have eagerly awaited this news, as Rosa has been sidelined for over a month. Her last match took place on the August 31st edition of AEW Collision.

Rosa later revealed that her absence was due to a concussion, contrary to earlier reports suggesting other reasons. Now that she has recovered, Rosa is ready to get back in the ring.

    Medical Clearance

While speaking on Busted Open Radio, the former AEW Women’s Champion confirmed her medical clearance and expressed gratitude to the AEW medical team for their support.

\”I want to thank the AEW medical team and everyone involved — I’m finally cleared,\” Rosa said. \”If you feel that you have a concussion, please go to your doctor. If you are an athlete, let your coaches know that this is important.\”

As of now, there is no official date for her in-ring return.

  • Pro Wrestling x NFL Weekly Round Up: (Week 4)

For the rest of the NFL season, I’ll be doing a pro football round-up and how the pro wrestling world collides with the stars and teams of the National Football league.

Unlike Week 4,  Seth Rollins is very happy with his Chicago Bears after being “eliminated” from Lucas Oil Field courtesy of TY Hilton and Sheamus actually remembered to bring his “Luck of The Irish” for the football team he tried to hype (albiet collegiate football). Let’s get to it!

Seth Rollins’ Bears Get The Win, Set To Appear On NBC Sunday Night Football

More often than not, Seth Rollins has found himself on the losing end as a Bears fan, but this week his favorite team recorded a solid W against the Los Angeles Rams. Seth was quick to celebrate on social media and reveal that he’d be a special guest on tonight’s NBC Sunday Night Football to celebrate.

Seth Rollins did appear and was on the sidelines for the Ravens and The Visionary was indeed on the winning side!

Sheamus Sees His “Fightin’ Irish” Win

Sheamus has been making his way all across the football hash marks and although this particular moment isn’t tied to the NFL, it’s tough to not feel the “Luck of the Irish” for “The Celtic Warrior.” Sheamus was in South Bend, IN to motivate Notre Dame as they clashed with the Louisville Cardinals. His hyping the Tennessee Titans fans last week didn’t get anything going, but Notre Dame sure was feeling a “fight night” as they handled Louisville 31-24.

Izzy Moreno Wrestles At Houston Texans Game

“Bayley’s Biggest Fan” decided to follow in her hero’s footsteps by actually getting into the wrestling ring, and Izzy Moreno did just that on Sunday. Before the Houston Texans took on Tony Khan’s Jacksonville Jaguars, Izzy had her own kind of competition outside Houston Stadium. Moreno successfully defined her Mission Pro Championship Title in a singles match before kickoff.

Thunder Rosa Officiated A Match Between Simon Miller & Texan\’s Mascot Toro

Moreno was not alone in Houston. One of her mentors. Thunder Rosa also happened to be in attendance for the big game as CJ Stroud and his Texans got the W against The Jaguars. However, Rosa made sure \”Toro The Bull,\” the Texans mascot, also got the W against Simon Miller in a match before the game.

Drew McIntyre & Liv Morgan Head To Indianapolis

Drew McIntyre didn’t endear himself anymore to Seth Rollins as he and Liv Morgan tagged up to hang with the Indianapolis Colts before they battled the Pittsburgh Steelers. McIntyre and Morgan joined Pat McAfee to hype the Royal Rumble coming to the city in 2025.

MJF Wants Some Royalties From Washington

Someone on the Washington Commanders social media team is a wrestling fan, but MJF would like some residuals. In hype for their Monday Night Football game against the Bengals for week three, a video was posted on TikTok of MJF referring to the Midwest as “Mid”, but the team logo was superimposed over Max’s face. In classic heel fashion MJF took exception to the Commanders using his likeness.

New York Jets Owner Hypes WWE SummerSlam

New York Jets owner Woody Johnson has garnered a polarizing reputation among Jets fans, but one decision that was certainly good for wrestling fans is that WWE SummerSlam will be coming to MetLife Stadium early August of 2025. Johnson took to his X account to express his excitement for the two-night rendezvous with WWE as the Jets prepped to take on the Denver Broncos this Sunday. However, the Jets didn’t ride that moment and lost to Denver 10-9.

    Wrestling Related Games Win-Loss Record

Quite the rebound for pro wrestling related NFL stories as the teams tied to stars came out of week mostly unscathed except those darn Jets! With Seth both representing the Bears and the Ravens the pro wrestling NFL connection stands at 5-1 for week three

After two weeks, wrestling related NFL stories stand at 6-5.

  • Thunder Rosa Furious Over \’Lies\’ About Her Health

AEW star Thunder Rosa is furious over misleading reports about her health.

The former Women\’s Champion took to Twitter recently, responding to a report from Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer Newsletter saying that she was cleared to compete.

The female star claimed that the information was absolutely wrong. Rosa also addressed her status in a new video on Instagram, saying that she will take the time to announce any changes in her status:

\”I just wanna make something very clear. I just got a note from the dirt sheets that I\’ve been cleared to wrestle. No I am not cleared. I was following the [Concussion] protocol this Wednesday and I\’m not cleared to wrestle.

So if you\’re a dirt sheet writer, anyone, ask me about my health directly. Cause I am not cleared to wrestle. When I am cleared, when my doctors tell me I can wrestle, I will personally announce it. Stop putting things that are not right.\”

    Thunder Rosa\’s Recent Troubles

Thunder Rosa has been out of action since the August 31 episode of AEW Collision. She competed in a TBS Championship #1 contenders match at the show. The bout won by Hikaru Shida also featured Queen Aminata, and Serena Deeb.

After a couple weeks of unannounced absence, Rosa revealed on Busted Open that she had actually been put on the shelf after suffering a concussion.

This was another setback for the female star who spent most of the 2023 on shelf due to back issues. She returned to action in December 2023 but has only wrestled about 20 matches since her comeback.

The concussion protocol makes it hard to determine how long the Mexican star will remain out of action or when she could return to AEW. Stay tuned to SEScoops for any updates on her status.

  • Thunder Rosa\’s Mission Pro Wrestling Promotion Going On Hiatus

Mission Pro Wrestling, a promotion owned by AEW star Thunder Rosa, will go on hiatus later this month with the hope of reevaluating the company\’s structure. In a statement, Rosa shared that this has not been an easy decision but that the break will allow those in MPW the chance to recalibrate the promotion\’s structure. An excerpt from the statement reads:

After much consideration, our team has decided that Mission Pro Wrestling will go on hiatus after our Aug. 17, 2024 “Midsummer Blast” show in San Antonio. This will be our last show of 2024, and no future show dates will be announced at this time.

This was not an easy decision. We understand that this is disappointing news to Mission Pro fans, financial supporters and talent. Please know that we are committed to using our time away as an opportunity to reset and recalibrate our organizational structure and goals to better serve the women’s wrestling community.

In the meantime, we look forward to seeing you in person for the last time in 2024 at our Aug. 17 show! Tickets are on sale at MissionProWrestling.com. You can also watch the show live on Title Match Network.

This is not goodbye. This is goodbye for now.

I hope to see all of you again soon.

    Sincerely,

    Melissa “Thunder Rosa” Cervantes

    Co-Founder/Co-Owner

    Mission Pro Wrestling

MPW began operating in the Texas area in 2019 and some notable names have made their presence felt in the promotion. In addition to Rosa, reigning NXT Women\’s Champion Roxanne Perez has ties to MPW, as does the No Quarter Catch Crew\’s latest addition, Wren Sinclair. Ricky Starks, whose future with AEW remains in question at this time, has also appeared for MPW in the past. Izzy Moreno, known to many as Bayley\’s superfan, has also competed for MPW.

This is obviously a setback for Thunder Rosa and the MPW roster, but it is hoped that this is not a permanent farewell to the promotion. Stay tuned to SE Scoops for the latest on Mission Pro Wrestling.

  • Toni Storm On Thunder Rosa: She Is A Swear Word In My Household

After being sidelined with a back injury for over a year, Thunder Rosa was intent on reclaiming the title she previously vacated. On April 21, Rosa will have the opportunity to do just that as she challenges Toni Storm for the AEW Women\’s World Championship at the 2024 Dynasty pay-per-view.

Before Rosa vies for the title again, though, Toni Storm has issued a candid statement regarding her return as well as their previous history.

\”Right now, the thorn in my side is a woman by the name of Thunder Rosa. She has beaten me twice. I am yet to beat her. She is my arch nemesis,\” Storm told Going Ringside. \”I do not take to her too kindly. She is a swear word in my household. You don\’t talk about her in my mansion, but at Dynasty on April 21st, we have a big pay-per-view.  It\’s in Saint Louis. That\’s going to be the night where I finally beat that dirty rotten Thunder Rosa.\”

    Storm vs. Rosa History

As Storm alluded to, Rosa enters this Dynasty title match with two prior victories over her, the first of which took place at the 2022 AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door pay-per-view. On this occasion, Rosa successfully defended the AEW Women\’s Championship.

Two months later, Rosa would vacate the title due to a lingering back injury. According to Storm, though, Rosa\’s decision to give up the title stems from her inability to live up to the pressures of being the champion.

\”She was injured. She had to leave. She had to leave because she couldn\’t handle the pressure of being a champion. She had a back injury because she was not strong enough to carry this mountain of gold right here. Then I came in and became champion. I\’ve been champion three times [now].\”

  • AEW Dynasty: Women\’s World Title Match Set For 4/21 PPV

During AEW Dynamite this week, Thunder Rosa defeated Mariah May. That means Rosa will now challenge Toni Storm for the AEW women’s championship at Dynasty.

Toni Storm was sitting at ringside during the match. She was a bit shocked by the conclusion, as Thunder Rosa came out on top. Rosa also had some choice words for Storm after the match was over. That match acted as the main event contest for the night

AEW Dynasty will go down on April 21 in Saint Louis. SEScoops will have full coverage of the pay-per-view event, and the events leading to the inaugural show.

This Week\’s AEW Dynamite Main Event Segment

The company did not add any more matches to the Dynasty pay-per-view during Dynamite this week. They did conclude the match with a contract signing between Swerve Strickland and Samoa Joe, one that ended in a bloody display as Joe busted Swerve open with a chain wrapped around his first.

In the end, Strickland signed the contract with his own blood after saying that Joe will need to do more than that to beat him at Dynasty.

The Young Bucks also beat The Best Friends to advance to the finals of the AEW Tag Team Title tournament. Then, Trend turned on Orange Cassidy before leaving.

    AEW Dynasty Card (So Far)

    • Will Ospreay vs. Bryan Danielson
    • The Young Bucks vs. TBD for the vacant AEW World Tag Team Championship
    • Julia Hart (c) vs. Willow Nightingale (with Stokely Hathaway): House Rules match for the AEW TBS Championship
    • Adam Copeland, Eddie Kingston, and Mark Briscoe vs. House of Black (Malakai Black, Brody King, and Buddy Matthews)
    • \”Timeless\” Toni Storm (c) (with Luther) vs. Thunder Rosa for the AEW Women\’s World Championship
    • Samoa Joe (c) vs. Swerve Strickland (with Prince Nana) for the AEW World Championship
  • Thunder Rosa Has Heartfelt Message For Andrade El Idolo Upon His AEW Exit

Andrade is making headlines today, as it is reported that his AEW days are done. He could have a big surprise return to WWE coming for him, but some in AEW will miss him.

Thunder Rosa\’s Message For Andrade El Idolo

Thunder Rosa hasn\’t been on AEW television over the past year, as she was out of action with an injury. She was still a voice on the company\’s Spanish language commentary team. After just making her return to in-ring action, Thunder Rosa is now losing someone she will truly miss in AEW.

In her caption, translated from Spanish, Thunder Rosa included a touching message for Andrade El Idolo. She will miss having him around AEW, as he is one of the most real people she\’s ever met.

You are one of the most real people I have ever met. I am proud of you my friend and for always doing what is best for you. You are a role model! I hope to see you soon and much, much success buddy and I\’m going to miss you

    Andrade El Idolo\’s AEW Exit

As we previously reported, according to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, there\’s an expectation within WWE that Andrade might make a return to the company. With a champion\’s return hyped for the January 1st Day 1 RAW, anything is possible.

People close to Andrade El Idolo indicate that a return to WWE is a possibility, but he remains open to staying if Tony Khan puts forward a more enticing offer than WWE. Some have voiced concerns about AEW not fully utilizing Andrade, who hasn\’t secured any championships in the promotion.

Andrade is also interested in collaborating with New Japan Pro Wrestling if the opportunity arises. While he would have liked to participate in the FantasticaMania show in February, scheduling conflicts prevent him from doing so.

It was later reported by Sean Ross Sapp on Fightful Select that Andrade El Idolo wrapped up his time with AEW at Worlds End, as he lost to Miro. His exit was reportedly not a pleasant one. Tony Khan also confirmed Andrade\’s exit during the press conference following the pay-per-view, but he provided an open door for his eventual return.

  • Thunder Rosa used famous lowrider car for her big AEW return at Collision

Thunder Rosa returned to in-ring action on the December 23rd episode of AEW Collision. She also did so with a memorable entrance, as she rode on a low rider. It turns out that car had a bit of history behind it as well.

The tag team match, where Skye Blue and Julia Hart took on Thunder Rosa and Abadon, provided a preview of Julia Hart\’s TBS Championship defense against Abadon. Of course, in San Antonio, the attention was on Thunder Rosa.

    Thunder Rosa\’s Special Entrance

Thunder Rosa\’s low rider entrance had a unique touch, as many fans called out the fact that it looked like the car featured in the 1997 film \”Selena.\” Many fans will remember that car if they\’ve seen the Jennifer Lopez movie.

In the \”Selena\” movie, their  tour bus breaks down, but they soon find help. A low rider shows up, and they can\’t believe that they get to help Selena out of a jam. Many fans know that low rider by the unique paint job, and that is exactly what showed up on AEW Collision this week.

Although it is unconfirmed whether it is the exact car from the film, the \’Selena car\’ is known to make appearances around the San Antonio area. This adds credibility to the possibility that Thunder Rosa used either the actual car for her entrance. Regardless.

    Thunder Rosa\’s AEW Hiatus

In the end, Thunder Rosa\’ team secured the win on AEW Collision, marking a successful comeback to the ring. Thunder Rosa hadn\’t wrestled since August 10th, 2022 prior to that. Needless to say, fans in San Antonio had a night to remember.

Thunder Rosa was still working for AEW during her time away from the ring. She provided Spanish language commentary for the show. It\’s unknown if she will continue that gig after her in-ring return.

  • Thunder Rosa Makes Triumphant In-Ring Return On AEW Collision

Former AEW Women\’s World Champion Thunder Rosa returned to in-ring action on the latest edition of AEW Collision.

Rosa had been on the sidelines since August last year after sustaining a back injury that prevented her from defending the AEW Women\’s World Championship. Toni Storm went on to become interim AEW Women\’s World Champion as Rosa relinquished the title in November. Storm was later declared the AEW Women\’s World Champion.

\’La Mera Mera\’ surprised the fans when she returned last week after being sidelined for over 16 months. Rosa had interfered in the brawl between Julia Hart and Abadon and later her first match following her return was officially announced.

Thunder Rosa wins on her return

On last night\’s AEW Collision, Rosa joined forces with Abadon to face the TBS Women\’s Champion, Julia Hart, and her new ally, Skye Blue. The exciting tag team match saw some great spots and fans went wild when Rosa got tagged in.

It was the former Women\’s World Champion who eventually scored the pinfall to give her side the victory. This marked her first win after her last match back in August 2022.

In the past, Rosa\’s injury sparked some controversy when she faced accusations of exaggeration. There were reports of backstage tensions with her female colleagues as well. However, Rosa has been clarified several times that her injury was legitimate.

Fans had been eagerly waiting for the return of La Mera Mera to the ring. Now that she has returned she would certainly try to go up the ladders and reclaim the AEW Women\’s World Championship, the title she never lost in the first place.

  • AEW Talent Meeting Recently Held Regarding Thunder Rosa’s Return

Thunder Rosa is back on the road with AEW for the first time in months due to an injury as she joined the Spanish announce team. There was a backstage meeting held with talent last week at Dynamite regarding Rosa’s return.

Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful Select reports there was a locker room meeting for all of the women on the roster who were present at the show and those who were there said it was done as an effort to ease the tension between Rosa and the locker room due to several frayed relationships.

    Making Amends

Those there stated that Rosa did a lot of \”making amends\” for several issues along the way during her previous run in promotion. Some talent had taken issue with how she handled things in the past and felt she made certain people on the roster come across as bullies.

There were also complaints about sandbagging and working stiff in the ring with Rosa. One talent stated that Rosa was met with some of that early in her AEW run, which had been rectified.

Some talent took issue with her not being on the road with AEW while traveling for other work and questioned the legitimacy of her injury, which Rosa addressed publicly.

Sources indicated that Rosa was happy to do commentary work and wouldn\’t be wrestling immediately. Rosa is getting closer to being medically clear. One AEW management member stated the meeting was productive and hoped it was a \”clean slate.\”

  • Thunder Rosa is Going Back on The Road With AEW

Thunder Rosa has provided another update on her status with AEW.

The former AEW Women’s Champion has been sidelined with a back injury since August. She announced at the time that she would have to step away from in-ring competition as a result, leading to the creation of an Interim AEW Women\’s Championship.

This interim title later became the undisputed AEW Women\’s Championship due to Rosa\’s extended absence. Toni Storm was named the Women’s Champion before she dropped the title to Jamie Hatier.

    Showing Face

While speaking on Busted Open Radio, she said she would be back on the road with AEW soon. However, she doesn’t know when she will wrestle again. Her plan is to \’show face\’ and be around backstage again while she gears up for an in-ring return.

\”It\’s going to be nice to be around everyone and see how things unfold,\” she said.

The previous update on her in-ring status was last month when Rosa said she was lifting again but wasn\’t ready to train in the ring and take bumps.
