MJF’s First Title Defence Confirmed After Double or Nothing

MJF has got his first challenger.

Tonight’s episode of Dynamite saw multiple challengers making a claim at the AEW World Title following Max’s victory at the Double or Nothing PPV. The most notable name on the list was Kevin Knight, who turned heel at the show on Sunday after attacking Darby Allin.

Among all the challengers, it was Rush who earned the first shot at the new champion. The former Don Callis Family member was involved in a fatal four-way match at the show, also featuring Brian Cage, Lio Rush, and Orange Cassidy.

Rocky Romero and Lance Archer interfered in the bout early on. A returning star then took out Orange Cassidy. All the chaos allowed Rush to pin Lio for the victory.

The Mexican star then confronted the World Champion during his celebration segment later in the night. Rush reminded MJF that he came very close to beating him before. After some more back and forth, the Salt of the Earth announced that he will defend his title against the 37-year-old on Dynamite next week.

Next week’s episode of the Wednesday Night show will also feature the quarterfinal of the Women’s Owen Hart Cup involving Alex Windsor. Windsor was originally supposed to face Willow Nightingale at Double or Nothing before the TBS Champion’s injury, and she will now be facing a Wild card entry in the tournament.
