WWE Legend Open to Facing Gunther: ‘Would Bring A Stiffness out of me

WWE Hall of Famer Rob Van Dam recently expressed interest in facing Gunther, stating he believes a match with ‘The Ring General’ could lead to more opportunities with the company. ‘The Whole F’n Show’ addressed the possibility during RVDTV.

Van Dam said he would welcome the invitation and sees it as a chance to showcase his abilities. He believes a strong performance could convince WWE to bring him back for additional appearances.

“I think that would be a great opportunity if I had the invite, you know? Sounds like a pretty damn great payday, and of course, after the match, WWE would be like, ‘Damn! RVD looks so f***ing good. Got to come up with more plans for him now.’”

“And then they would want to throw all kinds of money my way. And yeah, I think that Gunther would bring a stiffness out of me, just with what I’ve seen with his chops and stuff like that. Maybe in a way that Bob Holly did.”

Gunther’s Recent Victories Over WWE Legends

The former World Heavyweight Champion has built a reputation for defeating and retiring veteran wrestlers in high-profile matches. In less than a year, he has beaten Goldberg and John Cena in their final matches and forced AJ Styles into retirement in January earlier this year.

The pattern has established Gunther as WWE’s go-to opponent for legends looking to end their careers. Van Dam’s comments suggest he’s aware of this dynamic and sees value in being part of that storyline.

Gunther’s next match is scheduled for WrestleMania 42, where he will face Seth Rollins. The match appears to be happening as a favor for Paul Heyman, according to recent storyline developments.
