  • New #1 Contender For IC Title Confirmed

New #1 Contender For IC Title Confirmed

Rey Mysterio is headed for an Intercontinental Championship match after defeating Rusev on Monday’s episode of WWE Raw. The victory makes Mysterio the number one contender for Penta’s title.

The match came together earlier in the night when Mysterio spoke with reigning Intercontinental Champion Penta, who told the WWE Hall of Famer it would be an honor to face him. Ethan Page and Rusev took exception to Mysterio jumping the line for a title opportunity.

Penta had already defeated Ethan Page to retain the title at Saturday Night’s Main Event. So General Manager Adam Pearce refused to give him a rematch without earning it, and he instead made the Mysterio vs. Rusev bout official.

Page was still at the ringside for this encounter. In the end, Mysterio was able to defeat the Bularian Brute to become the new #1 Contender. Borh Rusev and Ethan Page tried to attack the wrestling veteran after the bell, but a returning Dragon Lee made the save:

No timeline has been specified for when he will challenge Penta for the championship. WWE has already announced 5 matches for the Clash In Italy PPV this Sunday so it’s unlikely that the IC title match will be added to the show.

  • Gunther Names The Five Wrestlers He Most Wants To Retire

Gunther Names The Five Wrestlers He Most Wants To Retire

Gunther has revealed a list of five wrestlers he most wants to retire, with Sheamus topping the list for personal reasons and Brock Lesnar making the cut for publicity value.

Speaking on Main Event Club, Gunther was asked to blind rank his retirement targets. His list in order: Sheamus, Brock Lesnar, Randy Orton, Rey Mysterio, and CM Punk.

He elaborated on his top two picks.

“The thing with Brock is for publicity and is perfect. Sheamus, it’s a personal matter. I want to retire him. Subjectively, they are all good choices. On the main roster, Sheamus was my first big opponent, and he beat me up a lot. He made me earn it. I hope I can kick his ass on the way out.”

Gunther has been dubbed “The Career Killer” after ending the careers of Goldberg, John Cena, and AJ Styles. Sheamus is currently sidelined with a shoulder injury with no confirmed return timeline.

Gunther is set to challenge Cody Rhodes for the Undisputed WWE Championship at Clash in Italy on May 31 at Inalpi Arena in Turin.

  • WWE Legend Threatens To Sue Rey Mysterio After AAA GM Reveal

WWE Legend Threatens To Sue Rey Mysterio After AAA GM Reveal

WWE legend John Bradshaw Layfield recently jokingly threatened to sue after WWE Hall of Famer Rey Mysterio was announced as the new General Manager of AAA Lucha Libre.

The former WWE Champion took to social media to express his mock outrage over the appointment.

“I was robbed! I’m calling David Otunga and we are suing,” JBL posted on Twitter in response to the announcement. The post referenced fellow WWE personality David Otunga, playing up the comedic nature of the complaint.

    Dominik Mysterio Weighs In

AAA Mega Champion Dominik Mysterio reposted JBL’s complaint on social media. The younger Mysterio has been involved in an ongoing storyline feud with his father Rey on WWE programming for years.

JBL had previously claimed he was confident about being appointed to the General Manager role. The Texan stated he is universally loved in Mexico ahead of the reveal.

    What’s Next For Rey Mysterio

It remains unclear how the AAA General Manager role will affect Rey Mysterio’s in-ring career with WWE. After the announcement, Rey promised to take AAA to new heights in the position.

Rey Mysterio continues to perform regularly on WWE while taking on this new responsibility with the Mexican promotion.

  • WWE Hall of Famer Revealed As New AAA General Manager

WWE Hall of Famer Revealed As New AAA General Manager

Rey Mysterio has been named the new General Manager of Lucha Libre AAA. The announcement was made during the live episode of AAA on Fox on Saturday, May 23, 2026.

AAA President Marisela Peña kicked off the broadcast with the reveal. Several AAA legends and current roster members were present in and around the ring for the announcement, including Peña’s son Dorian Roldán, who had hoped to secure the position himself.

In a surprising turn, Peña announced the WWE Hall of Famer and legendary luchador as the promotion’s new authority figure. Fans in attendance noted Mysterio’s voice was absent from English commentary at the start of the show, connecting the dots before the official reveal.

    Reaction to the Announcement

While the wrestlers and legends present celebrated Mysterio’s appointment, Roldán and AAA Mega Champion Dominik Mysterio were visibly upset at the news. The younger Mysterio’s reaction adds an intriguing family dynamic to the storyline.

Rey Mysterio will work alongside The Undertaker, who is part of AAA on Fox’s creative team. The Hall of Famer brings decades of experience and global star power to his new role with the promotion.

  • Big Show Reveals Nightmares From WWE Spot Gone Horribly Wrong

Big Show Reveals Nightmares From WWE Spot Gone Horribly Wrong

Big Show has recalled one of his most famous WWE spots.

The AEW star recently spoke to Chris Van Vliet for a new interview. He talked about things such as getting fined by Vince McMahon for a spot, working with Goldberg, how he is feeling nowadays, and more.

The former World Champion also opened up about his famous stretcher spot with Rey Mysterio. Big Show revealed that the spot did not go as planned and that he still gets nightmares about it:

“I hate that spot! That gives me nightmares. That went so bad. Oh, that went terrible because it was my idea, because Rey was tied in it, and then I thought I’d rib him in the afternoon, whereas I’ll just pick him up scare him. Oh, I can [pick him up]. This isn’t that tough. So what about swinging the pole?”

I Just Killed Rey: Big Show

Big Show faced the Master of 619 in a singles match at the 2003 Backlash PPV. The Giant picked up an easy victory over Rey with a chokeslam and Mysterio was secured in a stretcher after the bout. Before the medics could take the high-flying star away, however, Show returned and picked Mysterio up along with the stretcher. The former WWE star proceeded to throw Rey into a turnbuckle, with Mysterio falling face-first on the floor.

The wrestling veteran revealed that he was originally supposed to put Rey back in the ring after the spot, but the stretcher slipped from his hand because of the slime in the ring:

“Somebody before us, because it sure as hell wasn’t me, the guys used to put this conditioner crap on their hair. And sometimes it would get on the ropes, and it makes your hands so slimy, like even if you grab the top rope, getting out of the ring, your hand just comes right off. So when I swung Rey into that pole, that thing popped right out of my hands, like it squeezed, like a hard-boiled egg or something. It just popped right out, then I saw Rey go, and I went, Oh, I just killed Rey.”

The Masked Star was immediately taken to the hospital for a evaluation. Big Show noted that he kept his cool on the screen, but he was freaking out from the inside. He followed Rey to the hospital as soon as he got to the back, though thankfully the WWE Hall of Famer was not injured:

“So I ran back to the locker room, grabbed my clothes, threw them in the car, and drove to the hospital in my rental car, because I’m thinking, man, if Rey’s seriously f*cked up, I’m done. I’m quitting. I’m done. Because I really cared about taking care of the other guys. I get there and Rey sits in the hospital bed with his hands behind his head, just chilling. ‘Hey, man, that was good, huh?’”

Big Show later also discussed another spot Mysterio loved to do with him on live events, where Show would put him on the top turnbuckle and chop him. Show recalled Arn Anderson telling him that he wanted to call the police on him for that spot, while the whole thing was Rey’s idea.

  • Rey Mysterio Returns, Added To WWE WrestleMania 42 Match

Rey Mysterio Returns, Added To WWE WrestleMania 42 Match

Rey Mysterio returned to WWE on Monday Night Raw and announced he’s been added to the Intercontinental Championship ladder match at WrestleMania 42. The legendary luchador made his surprise appearance following a trios match on this week’s episode.

The return came after Je’Von Evans, PENTA, and Dragon Lee defeated El Grande Americano and Los Americanos. Mysterio emerged after the match to reveal his addition to the ladder match scheduled for the Las Vegas Premium Live Event.

PENTA Reacts to Mysterio’s WrestleMania Addition

Following the announcement, PENTA addressed Mysterio directly. The masked superstar told Mysterio that he’s ready to make history alongside him on the grand stage.

The Intercontinental Championship ladder match now features multiple competitors heading into WrestleMania 42. Mysterio’s return adds another veteran presence to the high-stakes bout.

Mysterio had been sidelined with an injury prior to his return on Raw.

  • Rey Mysterio Names His Two Greatest WWE Matches

Rey Mysterio Names His Two Greatest WWE Matches

Ask WWE Hall of Famer Rey Mysterio to pick one match from his legenadary career — and he can’t quite do it.

Speaking with Adrian Hernandez of the Unlikely podcast at a WWE community event in Las Vegas ahead of WrestleMania 42, the WWE Hall of Famer was posed a variation of the question WWE has been leaning into with their recent “moments and matches” video packages: if you could put one match in the Hall of Fame, what would it be?

He gave two answers. Both tell you everything about who Rey Mysterio is.

    WrestleMania 21: The Eddie Match

“I’m a big fan of Eddie and I — WrestleMania 21, WrestleMania Goes Hollywood,” Mysterio said.

The match took place on April 3rd, 2005, at the Staples Center in Los Angeles. It was the opening match of the evening — both men were the reigning WWE Tag Team Champions at the time, and Chavo Guerrero had spent weeks planting the seed of jealousy in Eddie’s mind.

Rey won via a reversal into a hurricanrana pin, and the two shook hands in the ring afterward in one of WrestleMania’s most genuinely warm moments.

The match turned out to be Eddie Guerrero’s final WrestleMania appearance. He passed away in November 2005, and the months that followed saw Rey dedicate his 2006 Royal Rumble win — and eventual World Heavyweight Championship reign — to his late friend.

Twenty years on, Rey has called Eddie his big brother and says the two’s bond shaped everything that came after.

There is an additional layer of irony in Rey choosing this match now. The custody storyline that followed WrestleMania 21 — Eddie claiming to be Dominik’s real father, culminating in a ladder match at SummerSlam 2005 — is the very origin point of the on-screen DNA that Dominik Mysterio has been leaning into throughout his heel run.

Dirty Dom has publicly questioned whether Rey is really his father, channeling a version of Eddie that lives on in the most complicated way possible.

SummerSlam 2002: The One That Started Everything

Rey’s second pick was his very first WWE pay-per-view match: Kurt Angle vs. Rey Mysterio at SummerSlam 2002 on August 25th at the Nassau Coliseum in Uniondale, New York.

“I’m also a big fan of my first pay-per-view with WWE — SummerSlam,” Mysterio said. “Kurt Angle versus Rey Mysterio.”

The match opened a card that is widely considered one of the greatest SummerSlam events ever assembled — Angle vs. Mysterio, RVD vs. Benoit for the IC title, Edge vs. Eddie, and Shawn Michaels returning for an unsanctioned street fight against Triple H.

Mysterio had debuted on Raw just weeks before and was still largely unknown to WWE audiences. He lost to Angle via ankle lock in around nine minutes, but the crowd — raucous and immediately converted — treated him like a star from the first spot.

Angle himself later reflected that the result was the right call at the time, but argued the loss didn’t hurt Rey — it helped establish his signature as someone who could compete with anyone at any level.

The host’s response after Rey named the match — “You should have won, dog. We don’t got time to get into it” — captured the fan sentiment perfectly. It remains one of the more hotly debated results in SummerSlam history.

Two picks. Two opening matches at two legendary events. That pattern isn’t an accident.

  • Rey Mysterio Updates Fractured Ribs, Eyes WrestleMania 42 Return

Rey Mysterio Updates Fractured Ribs, Eyes WrestleMania 42 Return

Rey Mysterio has broken his silence on the full extent of his injury, confirming he fractured ribs on both sides of his body during a January episode of WWE Raw — and then competed in the Royal Rumble anyway.

Speaking at a WWE community event in the leadup to WrestleMania 42, Mysterio opened up to Adrian Hernandez of the Unlikely podcast about where things stand.

“Much better than when it actually happened,” Mysterio said. “That injury occurred on January 26, which was the Monday leading into the Rumble. Fractured ribs — both left and right. Those take a little bit of time to heal, but on the way up.”

    What Happened on Raw

The injury occurred during Mysterio’s singles match against Austin Theory on the January 26 episode of Raw in Toronto. The referee raised the X sign during the bout — the universal signal for a legitimate injury — and Mysterio was tended to after the match, taking no part in the post-match angle involving Penta, Dragon Lee, and The Vision.

Initial reports from the Wrestling Observer described the injury as minor and not considered serious. The full picture, confirmed now by Mysterio himself, is more significant: bilateral rib fractures are a notoriously slow-healing injury that can sideline athletes for weeks, particularly with the physical demands of in-ring work.

Despite the severity, Mysterio made the trip to Saudi Arabia and entered the 2026 Men’s Royal Rumble match just days later.

He has not competed in the ring since. WWE confirmed multiple injuries following the Rumble weekend, though the rib fractures were not publicly detailed at the time.

    WrestleMania 42 on the Horizon

The interview was conducted at a WWE community event in Las Vegas — the same city hosting WrestleMania 42 — and closed with the host confirming, “We’ll see you at WrestleMania,” suggesting Mysterio’s involvement at the show despite his extended absence from in-ring competition.

Mysterio did make a non-wrestling appearance last weekend, providing commentary for AAA’s Rey de Reyes event, a sign that he is healthy enough to be active in the orbit of the business even while his ribs continue to mend.

This is not the first time Mysterio has battled back from a significant setback in recent years. His recovery from a torn groin kept him out for seven months in 2025, forcing him to miss WrestleMania 41. With his ribs trending in the right direction, the Hall of Famer appears on track for a return to the ring at the biggest event of the year.

  • Aalyah Mysterio Training: Rey Reveals Daughter\’s WWE Future

Aalyah Mysterio, daughter of WWE Hall of Famer Rey Mysterio, has trained in wrestling and enjoyed the experience. However, she has not committed to a full-time wrestling career.

The former World Champion revealed that Aalyah trained at the WWE Performance Center (PC) in Orlando and The Dungeon 2.0 with Natalya, TJ Wilson, Rey Mysterio, and other WWE stars. Aalyah\’s potential WWE in-ring future remains unconfirmed pending further training.

Rey Mysterio has revealed that he took Aalyah to train after she expressed interest right before he was cleared from injury. Aalyah graduated in June and trained shortly after, flying to the PC on a Wednesday.

    Aalyah Mysterio\’s Training Experience

In an interview with Cody Rhodes\’ \’What Do You Wanna Talk About?\’ podcast, Rey explained how Aalyah\’s wrestling training came about after she expressed interest. Rey Mysterio revealed:

“Right before I got cleared from my injury, I went to the PC in Orlando. My daughter had been asking me, ‘Dad, I want to jump in the ring. I want to see what it’s like.’ I told her we’d do it when she graduated. So she graduated in June, and we flew up there on a Wednesday.”

Rey was surprised by Aalyah\’s natural talent and positioning in the ring, and she enjoyed it despite the stiffness of the ropes and bumps. He added:

\”I was like there is no way. This is your first time stepping in the ring? She had a connection with, just positioning, hitting the ropes, oh my that is scary crazy. She just went in there with me to feel what it was like. To feel the mat, to feel the ropes. I am afraid she might be (an athlete) if she decides to take that path.”

Rey Mysterio is planning to get Aalyah to try a full week of training to determine her wrestling future. The Mysterio legacy is in safe hands as his son, Dominik Mysterio has already made a name for himself in WWE. He is currently enjoying his reign as AAA Mega Champion and WWE Intercontinental Champion.

  • Rey Mysterio Injured at Royal Rumble, Details From Raw

Rey Mysterio is reportedly dealing with injuries sustained during the WWE Royal Rumble, according to an announcement by Michael Cole during Monday Night Raw.

Cole addressed Mysterio\’s absence from Raw, stating that the veteran wrestler suffered injuries during his Royal Rumble match, where he entered at number four and was eliminated by Oba Femi.

    Injury Context and Background

This latest injury comes after Mysterio\’s previous seven-month absence in 2025 due to a torn groin, raising concerns about his ongoing health at age 51. Sources suggest the current injury involves his ribs and is not considered serious.

Mysterio was part of an ongoing storyline involving Penta, Dragon Lee, and The Vision, which may factor into his current status.

WWE has not provided definitive details about the extent of Mysterio\’s injuries or his expected return timeline.

  • Latest On Rey Mysterio Royal Rumble Status

Rey Mysterio is in Saudi Arabia despite his injury.

The WWE Hall of Famer suffered an injury during his latest Raw match against Austin Theory. He appeared to have hurt his knee during a hurricanrana attempt outside the ring, and the injury was confirmed when the referee threw the X sign.

PWInsider provided an update on the status of the Luchador ahead of the Royal Rumble. They confirmed that Rey Mysterio has travelled to Saudi Arabia with the rest of the WWE crew. The site also revealed that it\’s actually a rib issue that the veteran is dealing with, instead of the knee injury as originally believed.

They could not provide an update on the severity of the injury, so Mysterio\’s status for the annual battle royal remains uncertain. The officials not pulling him off the long trip to Saudi Arabia, however, suggests that the injury is not very serious.

While the status of Rey Mysterio remains a mystery, there are a couple of other names that seem to be on the road to a Royal Rumble return. You can check out more about it here.

While he finished the bout, Mysterio was noticeably absent from the post-match beatdown by The Vision. Medical personnel attended to Mysterio at ringside, and the referee reportedly signaled an \”X,\” indicating a legitimate injury. EVIL Officially Departing NJPW, Expected to Join WWE

New Japan Pro Wrestling has officially announced that EVIL will be leaving the promotion when his contract expires at the end of January. Reports indicate that the former IWGP Heavyweight Champion is WWE-bound.

EVIL, who debuted in NJPW in 2011, captured numerous titles during his time there, including the IWGP Intercontinental Championship and multiple tag team championships. While neither EVIL nor WWE has confirmed the signing, sources say Tony Khan is not a fan, and AEW is not an option.

Sami Zayn emerged victorious from a Fatal 4-Way match on WWE Saturday Night\’s Main Event, earning the right to challenge Drew McIntyre for the Undisputed WWE Championship at the Royal Rumble. The match, held in Zayn\’s hometown of Montreal, saw him defeat Randy Orton, Damian Priest, and Trick Williams in a hard-fought contest. The closing moments featured Priest hitting Zayn with the Razor\’s Edge, but Zayn recovered to deliver a Helluva Kick for the win. McIntyre attempted a post-match attack, but Zayn was ready and fought him off, standing tall to close the show.

Stephanie Vaquer Returns, Confronts Raquel Rodriguez

WWE Women\’s World Champion Stephanie Vaquer made a surprise return at Saturday Night\’s Main Event, interfering in the WWE Women\’s Tag Team Championship match between Rhea Ripley & IYO SKY and Liv Morgan & Roxanne Perez. Vaquer, who had been sidelined with a walking boot following an attack by Raquel Rodriguez, appeared without the boot and confronted Rodriguez, who was attempting to interfere in the match. A Women\’s World Championship Philadelphia Street Fight between Vaquer and Rodriguez has been announced for the February 2nd RAW.

  • Watch: Injured Star Makes Surprise Return To Help Rey Mysterio On Raw

    Penta is back in business.

This week\’s episode of Monday Night Raw from the Kia Center in Orlando, Florida, saw Austin Theory wrestling his first singles match since his return, with a brand-new theme song to match his new personality.

He squared off against Rey Mysterio. The wrestling veteran used his experience to get in control of the bout and set Austin up for a 619. Before he could connect the move, however, Logan Paul interfered on behalf of his new teammate.

Unfortunately for the Vision members, the referee saw this interaction and called for the bell. As the win was awarded to Mysterio, both Paul and Theory attacked the WWE Hall of Famer.

This continued until Penta\’s music hit and the masked star made his surprise return to the Red Brand. The Smooth Operator helped Rey fight off the attackers to end the segment.

The former Lucha Underground star had suffered a shoulder injury during the November 24 episode of Raw. He had wrestled Solo Sikoa on the show, as part of the Last Time Is Now tournament.

There is no word on what the company is planning for Penta after tonight\’s show, but it\’s likely that the Vision would want to get their revenge on the returning star.

  • Dominik Mysterio Recalls His Father\’s Reaction To Eddie Guerrero\’s Passing

Dominik Mysterio says the first time he saw his father crying was on Eddie Guerrero\’s death.

WWE\’s YouTube channel recently posted a video with the Judgment Day star talking about the legacy of the late Hall of Famer and how Guerrero has influenced his own career.

During the talk, Dirty Dom also recalled the passing of the wrestling legend in November 2005, mentioning that it was the first time he saw his father Rey Mysterio crying:

“When Eddie passed, that was the first time I saw my dad cry. I know Eddie had a rough past. I know he struggled with a lot of stuff in the past, addictions and stuff like that that he’s dealt with. I know that when he was doing the angles with me, he was the best version of himself.”

Apart from this, Dominik Mysterio discussed being part of the famous 2005 feud between his father and Eddie.

He revealed that Guerrero came up with the idea for the custody battle, and the Latino Heat always made sure he was ok and taken care of during this time.

The 28-year-old is set to compete at the Survivor Series PPV from San Diego, California this Saturday night on November 29. He will be challenging John Cena for the IC Title after the Cenation Leader beat him for the belt during the November 10 Raw.

  • Rey Mysterio Pens Tribute To Eddie Guerrero: \’Forever My Big Brother\’

November 13, 2025, marks 20 years since Eddie Guerrero passed away tragically young at the age of 38. Guerrero wrestled with countless stars during his tenure in the ring and few had better matches with him than his bouts with Rey Mysterio.

In The Players\’ Tribune, Mysterio paid tribute to his late friend. In the piece, Mysterio recalled the first time he saw Guerrero in action.

\”I have a lot of amazing memories from back then. Memories that mean so much to me, and shaped who I am. But there’s one that means more and shaped me more than the rest. And it’s the memory of how — on one of those nights?? I basically saw a shooting star. I saw the greatest wrestler of all time, for the first time. I saw you.\”

Rey expressed a deep sadness that Guerrero died young and never lived to see 40 while Mysterio himself turned 50 last December. Though he is now the older of the two, he will never see himself as a senior to the man he loved like a brother.

\”I’m writing this to you now, and I swear: I could live another 50 years — and when it comes to our friendship, I’d still be Little Bro. I’m forever your little bro. And you’re forever my big brother.\”

Mysterio shared that he sometimes imagines what the past 20 years would have been like if Eddie had not passed. While Rey would love for just another moment with Guerrero, he knows there are people who would deserve to see Eddie so much more.

\”I’d trade every moment I wish I could have had with you, for just that — for you to have gotten to see your daughters grow up, and into the women they are.\”

Guerrero reached the very top of WWE in 2004 when he became WWE Champion, despite not being the usual size and musculature of past World Champion. For Rey, the path Eddie laid for talent to come is a testament to his enduring legacy.

\”Maybe the best way to express how much you changed these perceptions, it’s to promise you there are young people reading this letter right now who didn’t know it was ever another way. That’s how fundamental it’s become.\”

Like many, Rey wishes Eddie could have seen the performer Dominik Mysterio has become in WWE. After Dom played a pivotal role in Eddie and Rey\’s feud in 2005 mere months before Guerrero\’s death, Mysterio is honored that he and Dom are able to evoke Eddie\’s name on WWE TV.

\”It took my breath away. I mean, Eddie — I swear to you: It was like you were there. And not in the way we sometimes say about the dead. Their presence remains with us, and so on. What I’m talking about is something much more powerful.\”

Mysterio summed up his tribute, calling Guerrero his big brother and his greatest rival. For Rey Mysterio, 20 years of living without being able to share with his brother has been far from easy.

\”My true friend. I wish I could tell you everything. I wish I could tell you anything.\”

  • Former World Champion Makes Surprise Return On Raw

    Rey Mysterio is back!

Dominik Mysterio was featured on this week\’s episode of Raw from Rio Rancho Event Center in Rio Rancho, New Mexico, celebrating his successful Intercontinental Championship defense at Saturday Night\’s Main Event. The 28-year-old reiterated what he\’s been saying for a while, that he is the greatest IC champion as well as the greatest luchador of all time.

This remark is what prompted the return of Dom\’s father, who warned his son against disrespecting the Lucha Libre culture. The segment turned physical after the two exchanged some more words. Rey Mysterio was able to get the upper hand in the end, delivering a 619 to Dirty Dom and sending him packing.

This was the first time the former World Champion had gotten physical in the ring since before WrestleMania 41 in April. His last match came at the April 18 episode of SmackDown, right before the Show of Shows.

Rey had made appearances for AAA in the meantime after the WWE acquisition. He inducted Konnan in the AAA Hall of Fame during the TripleMania XXXIII event in August and was forced to present Dom with the AAA Mega title at Worlds Collide: Las Vegas in September.

Mysterio was scheduled for a match against El Grande Americano at WrestleMania 41 before his injury and we\’ll see if the company renews this rivalry now that the wrestling legend is back.

  • Injury Update On Rey Mysterio

A new report from the Wrestling Observer Newsletter has provided an update on the status of WWE Hall of Famer Rey Mysterio, who has been out of action for the past six months with a torn groin injury. While the report indicates that the legendary luchador is expected to be medically cleared for an in-ring return \”soon,\” it also notes that he is not currently listed for an appearance at the upcoming Survivor Series Premium Live Event.

The event is scheduled to take place on Saturday, November 29, in Mysterio\’s hometown of San Diego, California, and many fans had been hoping for a triumphant hometown comeback. Mysterio has been on the sidelines since the weekend of WrestleMania 41 back in April. He suffered the torn groin on the episode of SmackDown just one night before the major event, forcing him to be pulled from his scheduled match at the last minute.

The six-month recovery period has been a long one for the veteran superstar, but the news that he is close to being cleared is a positive sign for his future. While Mysterio is not currently planned for the Survivor Series card, the report does note that a major match is planned for his son, Dominik Mysterio.

The current Intercontinental Champion is reportedly scheduled to defend his championship against John Cena at the event, which will be one of the final matches of Cena\’s retirement tour.

  • Rey & Dominik Mysterio Trade Barbs After Dom\’s Historic AAA Championship Win

Dominik Mysterio is now pulling double duty as both the WWE Intercontinental Champion and the brand-new AAA Mega Champion — and his latest win has only escalated his feud with his legendary father, Rey Mysterio. Shortly after the event, Rey took to Instagram to remind his son that he wasn’t the first young Mysterio to hold multiple championships at once.

Dominik wasted no time firing back with trademark sarcasm, highlighting that his father never held the AAA Mega Championship.

\”Good job son. Maybe one day you’ll be as great as me. Now post a pic of you holding the AAA Mega Championship ?\”

Dominik\’s victory at Worlds Collide saw him dethrone El Hijo del Vikingo to win the gold, much to the delight of the AAA crowd who are far from fond of Vikingo. After the match, Dominik had Rey place the title around his waist before ordering his father out of the ring.

This war of words is the latest development in the Rey-Dominik feud that has been simmering for over three years. Dominik turned on his father at WWE Clash At The Castle 2022 in Cardiff, Wales, following Rey and Edge\’s win over the Judgment Day. Dominik would join the faction shortly after, where he remains a member to this day.

Now, with two championships around his waist, Dominik’s stock is at an all-time high. Meanwhile, Rey is inching closer to an in-ring return, and another clash between father and son feels inevitable.

  • Dominik Mysterio Wins AAA Mega Title, Berates Rey Mysterio

Dominik Mysterio has added more gold to his collection after capturing the AAA Mega Championship at the AAA x WWE Worlds Collide event. In the show\’s main event, Dominik ended the reign of El Hijo del Vikingo to become new champion.

After the match, WWE Hall of Famer Rey Mysterio put the title around his son\’s waist. Rather than take this as a humbling moment from his legendary father, Dominik berated his father, ordering him out of the ring and miming that he\’d kicked him to the proverbial curb.

Dominik\’s victory as the new AAA Mega Champion marks the latest title to come to the Judgment Day. The group also holds the Intercontinental Championship thanks to Dominik as well as the World Tag Team Titles (Finn Balor & JD McDonagh.) 2025 has also seen the faction hold the WWE Women\’s Tag Team Championships as well as the WWE Women\’s World Championship.

Now, Dominik will have to juggle his time between WWE and AAA, though the 28-year-old seems more than up to the challenge. After declaring himself the greatest Intercontinental Champion within minutes of his win earlier this year, fans can expect plenty of boasting and bravado from the new AAA Mega Champion.

  • Rey Mysterio \”Getting Closer\” To WWE In-Ring Return

A positive update has emerged regarding the status of WWE Hall of Famer Rey Mysterio. According to a new report from PWInsiderElite.com, the legendary luchador is in the final stages of his recovery from a torn groin and is getting closer to making his return to the ring.

Mysterio has been out of action for the past five months, leaving a significant void on the SmackDown roster. Mysterio is expected to be at the WWE Performance Center in Orlando, Florida, next week as part of the final process to be medically cleared for his return to in-ring competition. While he has not yet been officially cleared, this step indicates that he is on the verge of being able to compete again.

Mysterio suffered the torn groin injury during the weekend of WrestleMania 41 back in April. He had previously stated in interviews that he was hoping to be back in the ring by last month, suggesting that the recovery from the difficult injury may have taken slightly longer than initially anticipated.

Before he was sidelined, Mysterio was embroiled in a heated and personal feud on Friday Night SmackDown against Santos Escobar and the Legado Del Fantasma faction. While he has been away, his son, Dominik Mysterio, has continued his successful run on Monday Night Raw as the reigning Intercontinental Champion.

  • Rey Mysterio\’s Daughter, Tatanka\’s Sons, Training With WWE Stars

The Dungeon 2.0, the training facility of Natalya and Tyson Kidd, is busy training the next generation of wrestlers within its walls. On Instagram, Natalya shared a photo from the latest training session, revealing that Aalyah Mysterio, daughter of Rey Mysterio, has been getting in the ring. Aalyah had plenty of names to learn from, including Natalya, Kidd, her father Rey Mysterio, Apollo Crews, Angelo Dawkins, and B-Fab, among others.

Aalyah is no stranger to appearing in wrestling. An interruption of her birthday would kick off Rey\’s feud with CM Punk in 2010, a feud that resulted in Punk losing his hair. Years later, Aalyah got in the face of her brother Dominik at WrestleMania 39, and had a drink thrown on her by her big bro.

These weren\’t the only notable names at the Dungeon\’s latest training session. Eagle-eyed fans will spot WWE Hall of Famer Tatanka on the left-hand-side of the image. In recent days, Tatanka\’s sons Jeremiah and Joseph have also been training at the Dungeon 2.0.

Time will tell if Aalyah or Jeremiah ever make it to WWE, or if their time in the ring is more-so about their own physical fitness rather than pro-wrestling aspirations. Whatever the case may be, the Dungeon 2.0 is proving to be a hot bed of notable young names, leaving fans excited to see who\’s next to step out of the Dungeon and carve a legacy in the squared circle.

  • Top WWE Stars Want Alberto El Patron Back, Claims Alum

Much has been said about Alberto El Patron\’s potential return to WWE, close to a decade after his most recent run with the company came to an end. Now, a former WWE commentator has claimed that some of WWE\’s very top Superstars wants the former World Champion back with the company.

Speaking to Lucha Libre Online, Hugo Savinovich discussed El Patron\’s situation. While WWE avoided mentioning El Patron upon their acquisition of AAA, Savinovich claims that there\’s no shortage of people hoping he returns.

\”Roman Reigns wants him to return… I mean, when you have the influence of Roman Reigns, you can say \’I want Alberto to come back\’… and stars like Drew McIntyre, the entire Samoan clan, and Rey Mysterio [want Alberto back.]\”

The Undertaker is another name who wants Alberto back, Savinovich added, claiming the Phenom \”wants to use his creative to get the most out of Alberto\’s character.\” Ultimately, the decision regarding rehiring El Patron will come down to Paul \’Triple H\’ Levesque, though in Hugo\’s eyes, the decision is a no-brainer.

\”Now it\’s up to Triple H to say \’Hey, the people want him back.\”

Alberto was released in 2014 after a physical altercation backstage and in 2016 following a Wellness Policy violation. While WWE reportedly has no plans for a return, the former World Champion proved exceptionally popular in Mexico during his AAA tenure.

With El Patron leaving AAA per the stipulation of a recent match, time will tell what\’s next for him. If what Savinovich is saying is true, however, a third run in WWE can\’t be counted out.

  • Rey Mysterio: I Will Bring Alberto El Patron Back

Alberto El Patron will make a return to WWE, if Rey Mysterio has anything to say about it, despite the former World Champion\’s bad blood within the Sports Entertainment giant. https://twitter.com/Fightful/status/1956914216071241755

Mysterio\’s bold claim comes in spite of WWE\’s attitude to El Patron. WWE reportedly never has plans to bring back Alberto, who was released in 2014 and 2016. At the time of the acquisition of AAA, WWE distanced itself from Alberto, then the AAA Mega Champion. WWE did not feature El Patron following the acquisition and quickly had him lose the title to El Hijo del Vikingo.

El Patron and Mysterio have an established past, as Rey was Alberto\’s first opponent upon his WWE arrival in 2010. Now, fans can expect the pair to fight again in a WWE ring, if Mysterio has his way.

  • Dominik Mysterio Reacts To AJ Styles\’ Eddie Guerrero Tribute At SummerSlam

Dominik Mysterio wasn\’t fazed by AJ Styles\’ attempt at mind games.

The Judgment Day member defended his IC title against the Phenomenal One at night 2 of SummerSlam. Both contestants paid tribute to the classic 2005 ladder match between Rey Mysterio and Eddie Guerrero by wearing their respective colors.

The IC Champion was asked about AJ wearing the colors of his role model while appearing on the SummerSlam post-show. Dominik claimed that stuff like this does not affect him at all:

“You know, I know he was trying to play mind games with me because of my alleged father. But what he doesn’t know is that stuff like that doesn’t get to me. I’m Dirty Dom, I’ve been playing here… I’m as homegrown as it gets.”

AJ Styles finally got to challenge Dominik Mysterio for the IC title at SummerSlam, after the later avoided the bout for weeks due to a rib injury. Mysterio tried to use Eddie Guerrero\’s chair trick to get AJ disqualified but Styles saved himself by pretending to be hit as well.

The former WWE champion then grabbed Dirty Dom\’s leg for the Calf Killer submission but the IC Champ slipped out of his boot. AJ ended up accidentally hitting the referee and Dom used the spare boot to finally get the upper hand on his opponent and retain the title.

The chants came just one day after Del Rio’s storyline loss to El Mesias on the July 25 edition of AAA Alianzas. As per the stipulation of the match, El Paton has been forced to leave AAA, ending the run of one of the company\’s biggest stars.

While fans in Mexico City may want El Patron back, that seemingly won\’t be happening.
