  • From Rock Bottom to Raw: Lilian Garcia’s Emotional Road Back to WWE

Lilian Garcia’s emotional journey back to WWE in 2023 wasn’t just a career comeback; it was a lifeline. After stepping away in 2016 to care for her ailing father, Garcia faced a series of personal losses and hardships. Tragically, her father passed away on Christmas Day, followed by her mother in 2021.

Amidst these personal struggles, she also endured a divorce, lost her voice due to a gas leak, and watched her income dwindle. With only one month of financial stability left, everything changed. Garcia recounted on Insight with Chris Van Vliet:

“I had one more month of income… Two weeks later, I get the call from Triple H to come back.”

This moment marked a turning point in her life. She described the timing as divine, believing that God was using her story to help others.

Garcia’s decision to leave WWE wasn’t forced; it was a conscious choice made when her father fell ill. She expressed no regrets about this decision, stating,

“I didn’t have to walk away, but I chose to walk away when my dad got sick. I will never regret that decision.”

After the loss of her parents and the painful experience of divorce, she found solace in her faith, ultimately surrendering control and embracing healing.

Garcia’s message resonates deeply with those struggling in silence. Her openness about fear, loss, and surrender serves as a powerful call to action for anyone facing uncertainty. She encourages them to embrace the journey, assuring them that they will find pride and fulfillment on the other side.

Beyond her wrestling career, Garcia’s comeback was a journey of rediscovering her purpose. Now, she is an integral part of WWE’s rotating lineup, hosting Saturday Night’s Main Event. Her voice, both literally and figuratively, stands stronger than ever, a testament to her resilience and strength.

  • Lilian Garcia Announces SmackDown Exit, Future WWE Role

Lilian Garcia returned to WWE in late 2024 as the replacement for Samantha Irvin. In January 2025, Garcia was moved to SmackDown but now her time with the blue brand has come to an end.

On Instagram, Garcia shared that the March 14, edition of WWE SmackDown would be her final show as a full-time ring announcer for the blue brand. However, Garcia will continue to serve as the ring announcer for WWE Saturday Night\’s Main Event shows, giving the events an added dose of nostalgia. Garcia will also sing at certain events and added that she is working on other show ideas.

It\’s fitting that Garcia\’s final SmackDown came in Barcelona, Spain, given that her singing career began when she was a child in Madrid. Garcia joined WWE in August 1999 and just weeks later, fell victim to a figure-four leg-lock by Jeff Jarrett, who was an on-screen misogynist at the time.

After a decade, Garcia left WWE in 2009 but returned the following year to fill in for Justin Roberts. Garcia\’s second full-time run with WWE began in December 2011 and ended in 2019. Now, fans will continue to be a part of WWE programming, though it remains to be seen who will fill in for her as the ring announcer for SmackDown.

Irvin announced her exit with a lengthy statement shared on social media in which she expressed her gratitude to the WWE and her fans.

On Instagram, Garcia shared her excitement to be back in WWE after years away and spoke of her nerves surrounding her first night back on the job.

”Well, now you know. Oh my gosh, guys did just happen? Did I just really go back to the WWE, after being gone for like 8 years? I mean, I’ve popped in every now and then but it’s been 8 years since I’ve been a full-time announcer there. My goodness, when my music hit and I got introduced, the cheers and applause that you gave me tonight, thank you for that.

  • Lilian Garcia Returns On (10/21) WWE Raw as Replacement for Samantha Irvin

This week, Samantha Irvin surprised everyone when she announced her abrupt exit from WWE Raw as the ring announcer of the show. Irvin\’s departure came mere hours before the latest edition of the red brand, but a replacement was found in time for the broadcast.

Before the October 21, edition of WWE Monday Night Raw went on the air, commentator Joe Tessitore shared that Lilian Garica is back in WWE and will be announcing for the red brand moving forward.

Unfortunately, Garcia showed a bit of rust on the show, as her first announcement of the evening saw an error. Ahead of a tag-team match, Garcia said the match was part of a tournament to determine the \”Number one containers\” for the World Tag Team Championships.

Garcia had been seen in Philadelphia before this week\’s Raw, which led many to speculate that she would be replacing Samantha Irvin as the show\’s ring announcer. • Lilian Garcia\’s Reason For Leaving WWE: \”I Made the Right Decision\”

WWE Hall of Famer Lilian Garcia recently revealed why she decided to part ways with WWE in 2016. Speaking with Ten Count Media, Garcia revealed an emotional story of her father’s illness which led to her departure. In March 2015, he was diagnosed with bladder cancer, which forced her to move him in with her for treatment. The hospital near his home in South Carolina had run out of options and she brought him to California for treatments.

“My father got really sick, and I took care of him. We found out at the end of 2015 that he’s got bladder cancer, and I moved him in with me because the hospital in South Carolina where he lived had run out of options. I moved him in with me [in] March of 2016, and he was going to City of Hope, and they were trying all sorts of different experiments on him.”

In 2016, she and her family were informed that her father had limited time left. The former ring announcer had to put an end to her WWE career to be with her father. Her father passed away on Christmas Day in 2016. Lilian Garcia reflected on her decision to step away and said that she would have continued working with WWE if the situation was in her favor. However, she doesn\’t regret her choice and she knows she made the right decision.

“And then it was in August of 2016 that they said to us, they didn’t tell him we wanted to keep it away from him. But they told my sister and I that he had two weeks to three months to live, and I just knew I couldn’t get back on a plane.

I knew that was it my sister and I went full on caretaking for him, and he ended up lasting five months. But he passed on Christmas Day in 2016, and I still look back, and I know I made the right decision.”

Garcia is one of the legendary WWE ring announcers and she joined the company back in 1999. She was also involved in a handful of storylines during her time with the company. Lilian Garcia\’s appearance on the May 13, episode of WWE Monday Night Raw was something of a last-minute call, according to the former ring announcer.

\”The fans and the reception that I got, you guys are amazing. I miss you. I’m just so glad that I can pop in every now and then. I hope you guys had fun tonight because there’s nothing like a live Raw event. Until next time, I love you.”

Garcia was with WWE from 1999 to 2009 but made a one-off return in April 2020 after the Eyjafjallajökull volcanic eruption left Justin Roberts overseas. She returned full-time in 2011 before departing again in 2016 and has made sporadic appearances for the company ever since.

This was a fitting appearance for Garcia, as it took place on the day after Mother\’s Day. Samantha Irvin posted a photo posing with the legendary WWE ring announcer, proclaiming that this counts as her photo to celebrate the Mother\’s Day.

    Lilian Garcia\’s WWE Departure

In 2016, during her second tenure with WWE, Garcia\’s father was battling cancer. This situation led her to leave her full-time role as a WWE ring announcer to spend more time with her ailing father.

After leaving WWE, Lilian Garcia started hosting two podcasts, \”Making Their Way to the Ring\” and the Spanish-language \”Luchando Con Lilian Garcia,\” both distributed by Maria Menounos\’ AfterBuzz TV network. On July 31, 2017, Garcia launched her new podcast, \”Chasing Glory with Lilian Garcia.\”
