  • Kris Statlander Reveals Original WWE Debut Plans

Kris Statlander has revealed the original plans for her WWE debut.

The former AEW Women\’s Champion recently spoke to Chris Van Vliet for an interview. She talked about things such as defeating Jade Cargill for the TBS title, her extreme match with Willow Nightingale at All Out and more.

During the interview, the AEW star also opened up about her 2019 SmackDown match. Kris Statlander revealed that originally, their tag team was supposed to be called the Brooklyn Pizza Connection:

“Well, originally the team name was supposed to be the Brooklyn Pizza Connection, and we were supposed to be named Saucy and Cheesy.”

The April 9, 2019 episode of SmackDown saw The IIconics defending their tag titles against an enhancement team called The Brooklyn Belles. Peyton Royce ended up picking the victory for her team in the match by pinning Karissa Rivera.

Kris Statlander, who was billed as Kristen for this bout, was asked if she was going to be named Saucy or Cheesy. The former champion explained that the plans never went that far but she would have loved to debut under either moniker

“I don’t know, we never got that far, but those were the options. Then it was the Brooklyn Belles, and then just used our first names. But I was like, that would have been iconic to have been either saucy or cheesy, and my only match there was a tag title match.

So what a way to go, to go in and go out right away. Yeah. But then now I have tag titles at AEW to go for, and maybe I’ll be Saucy or Cheesy or Garlic or Oregano, something like that.”

The Galaxy’s Greatest Alien would make her AEW debut a few months later in November, this time teaming up with Big Swole. The company officially signed her to a contract a month later and Statlander has been a part of the promotion ever since.

  • AEW Star Cleared For Action After 7 Months

Thunder Rosa is back in AEW.

This week\’s episode of Dynamite featured Renee Paquette interviewing Kris Statlander in a backstage segment after she lost her AEW Women\’s World Championship to Thekla last week.

Statlander was joined by none other than a returning Thunder Rosa, who had not been seen on AEW programming since the All In Texas PPV last July.

Kris first confirmed that she was not cleared to compete after her brutal match last week, but said that she still wants to fight the new Women\’s Champion and make her pay.

Thunder Rosa then joined in on the conversation and revealed that she was finally cleared for action. The Mexican star then warned Thekla that she was coming for her in a Spanish promo. When Statlander tried to warn Rosa about the Toxic Spider, the AEW veteran dismissed the concern saying that she was better than ever.

It\’s unknown how long Kris Statlander will stay out of action but it seems likely that we will see Thekla defending her title against Thunder Rosa in the coming times.

Tonight’s show also featured a promo battle between AEW Champion MJF and Hangman Page where the challenger proposed a big stipulation for their upcoming Revolution match. You can check out more about it here.

  • Kris Statlander: No One Hates Wrestling More Than Wrestling Fans

Kris Statlander does not understand wrestling fans being miserable despite having so many options.

The AEW star recently spoke to TSN to promote the upcoming Grand Slam Australia event. She talked about things such as injuries setting her back in her career, finally winning the Women\’s World Championship and more.

The former TBS Champion also talked about the negativity of fans, especially those who spend their time pitting companies and performers against each other instead of enjoying the wide variety of high-quality wrestling offered across the industry right now:

“No one hates wrestling more than wrestling fans… I think it’s a shame that some people get so upset thinking that we don’t like each other or that people don’t want to see wrestling succeed, because I just want wrestling to succeed.\”

It\’s Just So Unnecessary: Kris Statlander

Kris Statlander discussed how the performers of different companies have no actual animosity and they just want the industry as a whole to continue growing. This doesn\’t appear to be the case for a segment of fans however, who seem to enjoy the failure of people more than their success:

\”I want things to be executed well. I want everybody to have fun and enjoy their lives because we go out there and travel and we put our bodies through so much and people get so invested in our personal lives and all these other things and it’s just so unnecessary when all we’re trying to do is put on a good show for these people.”

The New York native defended her World Title against Thekla on this week\’s episode of AEW Dynamite, but she unfortunately ended up losing the title. You can check out more about it here.

  • Huge Title Change In Dynamite Main Event

Thekla has won the AEW Women\’s World Title.

The Austrian star challenged Kris Statlander for the title in a strap match during the latest episode of Dynamite from Toyota Arena in Ontario, California. Bryan Danielson on commentary, revealed that the strap used for the match was the same one from his 2023 All Out match against Ricky Starks.

The ending of the bout saw the Sisters of Sin interfering on behalf of the challenger. Sky Blue distracted the referee as Julia Hart entered the ring, but Statlander managed to fend the duo off. Thekla however, was able to take advantage of the distraction.

She speared Kris and then tied the champion\’s hands with the strap. The Toxic Spider then delivered a stomp to the AEW Women\’s Champion to begin her first reign with the belt.

Thekla joined Blue and Hart in attacking Kris Statlander after the bell, as the commentary mentioned that Babes of Wrath were in Australia and can\’t help Statlander.  Alex Windsor and Jamie Hayter then came out to make the save for the now former champion, to end the show.

This wasn\’t the only unexpected title change of the night, before the Grand Slam Australia event set for this weekend. You can check out more about it here.

  • Kris Statlander Explains Spitting On Jamie Hayter During World\’s End Match

Kris Statlander wanted to bring the best out of Jamie Hayter.

The AEW Women\’s World Champion took part in the media scrum post the World\’s End PPV after retaining her title at the show. During the talk, she was asked about a spot in her match with Hayter where she was seen spitting on the challenger’s face.

Answering the question, the female star first mentioned how people saw her as an underdog before she won the title. Now that she is the champion, Kris Statlander feels she has every right to be as confident as she is:

\”Yes, well, I will start off by saying you were not mistaken with what you saw. I did do that. However, one thing that has changed is I\’ve said it a few times now my sob story is over. I am not an underdog. I feel like my whole build to becoming champion, people were still like, \’Maybe one day it\’ll be her moment.\’ But now I\’m proving that my moment is now. I am the champion, and I have every right to be as confident as I am.\”

Kris Statlander then explained the reason she spat on Jamie\’s face during their bout. She claimed that it was important so Hayter could meet her at her level:

\”I told Jamie, leading into this match, she was a former champion. She knows what it\’s like to be on top, and I was in the same place as her. I feel like me being a little bit more, not aggressive, but I was trying to antagonize her, in a way, to bring that champion spirit back out of her. Because I\’m all about meeting me at my level, meeting me at the champion\’s level, and I\’m just trying to bring that fire out of her and every other person that wants a shot, really.\”
