  • Austin Creed Says It’s ‘On Sight’ With AEW’s Kenny Omega

Austin Creed Says It’s ‘On Sight’ With AEW’s Kenny Omega

Austin Creed has a warning for Kenny Omega, and it doubles as a preview of what an AEW arrival might look like. The former Xavier Woods cut a brief, playful promo on the AEW Executive Vice President during the New Day’s appearance at GalaxyCon Oklahoma City this weekend.

Creed and Kofi Kingston spent the weekend signing autographs and posing for photos at the convention, their first public appearance since their WWE exit.

The bit started when a fan arrived at a photo op wearing a Kenny Omega shirt. Creed pulled out his phone, pointed the camera at the fan, and ran with it. In an impromptu promo posted on his Instagram stories, he said:

“We’re here. We’re doing photos at GalaxyCon, and somebody let him in,” Creed said in a clip posted to his Instagram story. “Take this shirt off. Get this shirt out of here. He almost got punched in the face. Because Kenny, if I see you, it’s on sight. It’s on sight.”

With Kingston egging him on in the background, Creed grabbed the laughing fan and warned that he “might get punched in the face” too, before the video cut off.

What Creed’s Omega Promo Could Be Setting Up

The gag works because the two have history. Creed and Omega have traded shots for years as the resident gamers of their respective companies, a friendly rivalry that has played out across video game streams and convention panels rather than in a wrestling ring.

That rivalry now carries different stakes. Kingston and Woods left WWE on May 2 after declining a restructured contract, and both are expected to become free agents once their 90-day non-compete clauses expire in early August. AEW talent have been open about wanting the duo, and the promotion has reportedly pushed internally to sign them.

If Kingston and Woods do sign with AEW, Omega goes from long-distance gaming rival to actual coworker. Creed’s GalaxyCon promo, joke or not, plants a flag for a meeting fans have wanted to see for the better part of a decade.

  • Young Bucks Reveal 2018 Talks With Triple H Over New Day Match

Young Bucks Reveal 2018 Talks With Triple H Over New Day Match

The Elite vs The New Day

Matt Jackson called Triple H in 2018 to pitch a New Day vs. The Elite dream match. The revelation, dropped on the latest episode of Being The Elite, re-contextualizes years of social media teasing into something that was nearly real, and lands at the exact moment Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods are weeks away from being able to sign with All Elite Wrestling.

“We truly were trying to get a New Day, Young Bucks, Kenny match to happen. An Elite vs. New Day match actively,” Matt Jackson said on the show. “They said they were trying on their side. We were definitely talking to our bosses.”

Jackson then disclosed the call itself.

“Even to the point in 2018 when we got on the phone with Triple H and we talked to him and said, ‘Hey, we would really like to do this match.’ I don’t know if he was necessarily interested in just doing that match. I think he was more interested in pursuing us to work for him, but we talked to him about it. We were serious about doing the match and we thought we’d probably be able to do it, and unfortunately we never did.”

The Episode Doubles As A Tease

The episode itself is a watchalong of Being The Elite episode 107, the 2018 “It’s a New Day” installment that documented The Elite facing off against The New Day in Street Fighter V at E3. Kenny Omega complemented the timing by posting throwback video footage of himself gaming with The New Day from that same event, making the back-to-back teases impossible to read as coincidence.

The footage and the 2018 phone call paint the same picture. The Elite have wanted this match for nearly a decade, and they are surfacing the evidence at the precise moment it might finally happen.

    Why Now

Kingston and Woods mutually parted ways with WWE on May 2. Dave Meltzer reported in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that TKO offered the duo reduced deals just one year into a five-year contract set to run through 2030, and both men declined and walked, per the backstage update from Meltzer’s reporting.

Standard WWE deals include a 90-day non-compete clause. If Kingston and Woods are operating under that timeline, they would be eligible to sign with another promotion at the end of July, opening a runway to a potential AEW debut during the summer build to All In London.

The Young Bucks and FTR were among the first to tweet teases in the immediate aftermath of the news, per Meltzer. MJF and Cash Wheeler invoked The New Day’s signature catchphrase in their own posts. Swerve Strickland told TMZ’s Inside the Ring podcast that he texted Kingston after the release and considers him “one of the top five greatest ever to do it.” The New Day name remains WWE property, so any AEW arrival would likely see Kingston and Woods working under their individual names.

Kenny Omega Considered Retiring During Diverticulitis Battle

Kenny Omega has opened up about how close he came to walking away from in-ring competition during his battle with diverticulitis. In an interview with CBC News Manitoba, the AEW star revealed he had made peace with the possibility that his wrestling career might be over.

Omega’s diverticulitis previously forced him to miss matches and left major questions about his long-term future. He explained that accepting the possibility of transitioning to a backstage role helped him focus on recovery without panicking.

Omega Was Ready for Office Role

“I think a big part of it too which I think helped me a lot in this journey was that I was at peace with being able to take a huge step back if I needed to,” Omega said. “If I needed to have a complete non-physical role within the company and just be you know an office guy in the back that’s never seen but is still contributing. I was happy to just been involved with this project that is AEW with this company with its wonderful fans its athletes.”

    Staying Calm Through Recovery

Omega credited his calm mindset with allowing him to make better decisions about his recovery. Rather than rushing into treatments without guidance, he focused on carefully trying different methods and staying honest with himself about the outcomes.

“I think that having that sense of calmness and being able to accept the current situation actually helped me put forward more of an effort in the pursuit of getting back what I lost,” he explained. “Cuz I feel like if I was in a panic mode I would have kind of run around like a chicken with its head cut off not knowing whether to go left whether to go right should I try something new or should I keep really doubling down on what I’m currently doing.”

The wrestler emphasized that knowing he tried every available option mattered just as much as the results. “I think just being honest with yourself in this in this case or honest with myself in this case and just being very open-minded to not only the fact that things may work if I try something new but if they don’t work to be able to accept that okay I’ve tried everything that I could. I can’t say that I didn’t try.”

Omega has since returned to in-ring competition after his recovery. He will challenge MJF for the AEW World Title at AEW Dynasty.

  • Kenny Omega Congratulates Cody Rhodes on Street Fighter Movie Role

Kenny Omega Congratulates Cody Rhodes on Street Fighter Movie Role

Kenny Omega revealed he reached out to congratulate Cody Rhodes after learning about his casting as Guile in the upcoming Street Fighter movie, sharing how his perspective has evolved over the years.

Speaking to Fall Damage in a recent interview, Omega discussed Rhodes’ role in the Street Fighter film, which also features WWE’s Roman Reigns and is set for release on October 16th later this year.

“I remember one of the first things I did when it was released that Cody was going to play Guile. I gave him a message and I said to him, I said, hey, hey, Codes,” Omega explained. “I said, ‘I just want to say congrats, and I know the old me would have been just fuming. He would have been jealous. He would have been upset that you got this role.’”

    Cody Rhodes as Guile

The AEW star admitted his reaction surprised even himself, showing personal growth from his more competitive past.

“I said, ‘but I’m just excited and happy for you,’ and if there is a Street Fighter 2, then absolutely. I’d love to play Alex. I would need to know in advance because I would have to do something about packing on like 50 to 60 pounds of lean muscle mass.”

    Gaming Connection Runs Deep

Omega’s interest in the Street Fighter franchise extends beyond casual fandom. The former AEW World Champion has maintained a strong connection to gaming throughout his career and recently completed motion capture work for Street Fighter 6.

His suggestion to play Alex, a character known for his massive frame and wrestling-based moveset, would require significant physical transformation. Alex is one of the larger fighters in the Street Fighter roster, known for his grappling techniques and powerful strikes.

Both Omega and Rhodes have established themselves as top stars in their respective companies and this generation.

  • World Title Match And More Confirmed For AEW Dynasty

World Title Match And More Confirmed For AEW Dynasty

Kenny Omega is going to Dynasty.

The former AEW Champion put his status as the Executive Vice President of the company on the line against Swerve Strickland’s #1 contendership on this week’s episode of Dynamite. While many expected Strickland to come on top, it was The Cleaner who picked up the victory in the bout.

The former IWGP World Champion then confronted MJF later in the night, as the reigning world champion made his first appearance since Revolution. Kenny Omega confirmed that he will be getting his title shot at the next AEW PPV.

This wasn’t the only PPV match made official tonight as Will Ospreay laid out a challenge for Jon Moxley which the Death Riders leader accepted. This will be Ospreay’s first PPV match since Forbidden Door 2025, though Mox’s Continental Title has not been added to the mix.

    AEW Dynasty Updated Match Card

    • Singles Match: Jon Moxley vs. Will Ospreay
    • AEW Tag Team Championship Match: FTR (Cash Wheeler and Dax Harwood) (c) (with Stokely) vs. Adam Copeland and Christian Cage

AEW Dynasty this year will be taking place from Rogers Arena in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada on April 12, 2026.

  • Kenny Omega Putting AEW EVP Position On Line For Big Rematch

Kenny Omega Putting AEW EVP Position On Line For Big Rematch

Kenny Omega is playing for big stakes.

This past Sunday’s Revolution PPV saw Swerve Strickland picking up a singles victory over Brody King. Things ended on a tense note after The Cleaner made the save for King as Strickland went for a post-match beatdown.

The two former AEW World Champions then addressed their encounter on this week’s episode of Dynamite. In a backstage promo, Kenny proposed a rematch of their February 18 bout, in which Strickland had picked up the victory. Omega asked Swerve to put his #1 contendership for AEW title on the line in this bout.

The former Mogul Embassy leader responded to the AEW EVP in the ring later in the night, with a promo of his own. Swerve Strickland opened his promo talking about power.

The 35-year-old mentioned that he had no idea he was the #1 contender but questioned the point of winning the title if he did not have the power to protect it. Strickland then threw a curveball, asking Kenny to put his EVP status on the line if he truly wanted the rematch.

The former IWGP World Champion must have agreed to the stipulation backstage as the company later made the match official for next week’s episode of the Wednesday night show.

  • Kenny Omega\’s Status After Swerve Strickland\’s Assault On Dynamite

An update has emerged on former AEW World Champion Kenny Omega after he was brutally attacked by Swerve Strickland on this week\’s AEW Dynamite.

The duo headlined Dynamite in Sacramento, California and it marked their first-ever singles match. The 20-minute match saw some spectacular moments with both of them going all out for the win.

\’The Cleaner\’ hit multiple V-Triggers in the final moments of the bout, but Strickland pinned him after hitting a House Call. However, things turned ugly as Strickland landed punches after the bell rang.

He further got a chain from Prince Nana and hung Omega over the ropes. Strickland then hit Omega with a Deadeye through the announce table.

    Kenny Omega\’s Status

Fightful Select has reported that Omega is not currently scheduled to wrestle at AEW Revolution due to some scheduling conflicts.

“Kenny Omega vs. Swerve Strickland is in the books, and Kenny Omega has some scheduling conflicts for the future.”

It has been reported that Omega informed AEW about the conflict months ago, which is why the match with Strickland was scheduled on February 18th Dynamite instead of taking place at the pay-per-view.

“Omega took on Swerve Strickland on AEW Dynamite, but will not be wrestling at the upcoming Revolution PPV for AEW. We’re told that he informed AEW of the scheduling conflict a number of months ago, which is why the match ended up on the February 18 Dynamite.” [H/T – Ringside News]

Reports further suggest that Omega isn’t currently planned to compete at Revolution but he could be involved with the show in some capacity.

“We’re told that Kenny Omega is possible for an appearance at AEW Revolution, but as of today he isn’t planned to wrestle.”

AEW Revolution is scheduled to take place on March 15th from the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, California.

  • Swerve Strickland Turns Heel After Dynamite Victory Over Kenny Omega

    Swerve Strickland has finally snapped.

Tonight\’s Dynamite from Sacramento, California, was main evented by the former AEW Champion facing Kenny Omega in their first-ever singles match.

The physical 20-minute bout saw both contenders trying their best to win the match. Omega hit multiple V-Triggers towards the ending of the fight, but it was Strickland who picked up the victory with a House Call counter.

The winner wasn\’t done with his opponent even after the bell, however. After some brutal punches, Swerve obtained a chain from Prince Nana and hung Omega over the ropes in a brutal spot.

If this wasn\’t enough of a statement, Swerve Strickland then went out of the ring and cleared the announce desk. Bryan Danielson at the commentary pleaded with him not to continue the beatdown, but Strickland finished Kenny off with a Deadeye on the table.

The heel turn for the rap star had been teased since his return at Full Gear last year. There has also been speculation about Strickland potentially reviving the Mogul Embassy. So it\’s possible that we will see the faction reuniting under Swerve after tonight\’s show.

  • Kenny Omega Set For First Singles Match In 6 Months

Kenny Omega is making a return to one-on-one competition.

The former world champion had revealed his intention to go after the AEW title once again recently after ending his temporary partnership with the Young Bucks. He then interrupted the celebration of the new title holder, MJF, with a video message.

The company revealed the next step in his quest to win singles gold again on this week\’s Dynamite, announcing that Omega will be going up against Josh Alexander during the January 21 episode of the show.

The 42-year-old has been dealing with complications from his 2023 diverticulitis diagnosis in the past couple of years. After spending the whole of 2024 away from the ring, he wrestled only 16 bouts in 2025, with most of them being multi-man matches to protect the Cleaner from taking too much damage.

The fight against Alexander is the first singles match for the Best Bout Machine in six months after he faced Kazuchika Okada at All In Texas in July last year. It\’s likely to determine whether the wrestling veteran can pull off a singles run in his current condition.

  • Update On Kenny Omega\’s Mysterious Dynamite Promo

Kenny Omega might be entering the title picture again.

The Cleaner had teamed up with The Young Bucks to defeat The Don Callis Family on Dynamite recently, helping the brothers finally win the $1 million reward.

It was revealed after the match that the Bucks were not cleared to compete, at least for the next few shows. Upon hearing the news, Kenny Omega cut an ominous promo, saying that this gives him the chance to take care of something he has been meaning to for a while.

Fightful Select provided an update on this mysterious promo from the former IWGP World Champion. They suggested that it was related to the wrestling veteran entering the world title scene:

\”There was a segment on AEW this week where Kenny Omega mentioned that he had to take care of some things. We\’re told this specifically was to reference him possibly being in the world title scene soon.\”

Though the AEW co-founder would be facing some tough competition if he wishes to enter the title picture. The World\’s End PPV tonight saw MJF becoming a two-time world champion, defeating Samoa Joe, Hangman Page, and Swerve Strickland in the process.

All three of these former world champions would want another shot at the title after tonight. Not only that but ROH Champion Bandido has also earned an AEW title shot by winning the Dynamite Diamond Ring this year. The masked star will now challenge MJF for the belt at Dynamite Maximum Carnage on January 14.

  • Kenny Omega Says He Has To \’Take Care of Something\’

Kenny Omega has teased something ominous.

Last week\’s episode of Dynamite had seen The Young Bucks teaming with the former AEW Champion to defeat The Don Callis Family and finally winning the $1 million reward.

The brothers provided an unfortunate update on their health on this week\’s episode of the Wednesday Night show, however. The Bucks revealed in a backstage segment that they aren\’t cleared to compete at least for the remainder of the year.

Kenny Omega Has Something To Do

The Cleaner then got on the mic and proclaimed that the trio will always have each other\’s backs. Kenny Omega went on to deliver a mysterious message, saying that this gives him the opportunity to take care of something he should have done a while ago:

\”Whether we tag or not, The Elite are The Elite. I\’m always gonna be with these guys, they always got my back and I\’m always gonna have theirs. But maybe this gives me the chance to take care of something that I need to take care of myself. So while you guys [are] resting up, I\’m gonna do something that I think I should have done a little while ago.\”

Omega is currently not booked for a match at the Worlds End PPV this Saturday night. Though it\’s likely that we\’ll get an idea about his new quest before or at the show.

  • Andrade Vows to Give Kenny Omega \’Best Match of His Life\’

Andrade El Ídolo has vowed to give Kenny Omega \”the best match of his life\” when the two finally face off again, admitting their Triplemanía match in 2022 failed to reach its potential due to disastrous travel circumstances.

Speaking in a Spanish-language interview on Soy Eduardo Bates, Andrade revealed the chaotic behind-the-scenes situation that hampered what should have been a dream match between two of wrestling\’s most talented performers.

Both men had worked in the southern United States the night before Triplemanía, finishing around midnight. Their 6 AM flight landed in Mexico at 2:30 PM on the same day as the show.

\”The day before we wrestled in the south of the United States. The flight left at 6, we arrived in Mexico at 2 in the afternoon the same day as Triplemanía,\” Andrade explained. (Translated from Spanish)

The situation worsened when Omega encountered documentation issues at the airport. Despite being the reigning AAA Mega Champion, Omega was left waiting outside for over 40 minutes before anyone picked him up.

\”Kenny Omega I think didn\’t have his documentation that time. They took about 40 minutes to pick him up. Kenny Omega was outside. They hadn\’t picked him up. The mega champion,\” Andrade recalled, still incredulous at the treatment of AAA\’s top champion.

Even basic logistics failed them. The person with their hotel room keys arrived late, meaning neither competitor could rest until 4 PM for a major pay-per-view match that night.

    Andrade Seeks Kenny Omega Rematch

Despite acknowledging the match wasn\’t bad, Andrade knows they\’re capable of much more. He made a bold promise for their inevitable rematch.

\”That match we lacked, I don\’t know, time or something to reach… The match wasn\’t that bad, but I hope the next time I get to wrestle Kenny we\’re going to give him the best match of his life. Of his life,\” Andrade declared.

Andrade and Omega\’s history dates back to their teenage years. They first crossed paths at 19 years old during a New Japan Pro Wrestling Super Junior tournament, competing alongside future stars like Finn Balor, KUSHIDA, BUSHI, and Kota Ibushi.

Despite years in the same company, the two were never placed in the same tournament block in Japan, making their eventual collision all the more anticipated.

With both men now in AEW, the rematch can finally happen under better circumstances.

  • Kenny Omega\’s Diverticulitis Continues to Impact AEW Schedule

Kenny Omega\’s return to AEW competition comes with significant health considerations as the promotion navigates his ongoing battle with diverticulitis, according to the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter.

The former AEW World Champion\’s condition requires careful day-to-day management, with AEW limiting his in-ring workload and avoiding extended singles matches to accommodate the unpredictable nature of his health situation.

    The Road to Recovery

Omega\’s health struggles became public knowledge when he was hospitalized in December 2023 with diverticulitis, an inflammatory condition affecting the colon. The severity of his condition necessitated surgery in May 2024, during which doctors removed approximately 25 centimeters of his colon.

The recovery process kept Omega sidelined for months as he worked his way back to in-ring competition. His return came at AEW Full Gear on November 22, 2025, where he reunited with The Young Bucks, marking an emotional comeback for one of AEW\’s most popular stars.

    Managing an Unpredictable Condition

According to the Observer, Omega\’s condition fluctuates on a daily basis, creating unique challenges for AEW\’s booking team. The promotion has responded by strategically structuring his appearances to prevent potential complications while keeping him active on television.

The decision to book Omega primarily in tag team scenarios rather than lengthy singles matches appears to be a direct response to these health limitations. This approach allows AEW to feature one of its top stars while minimizing the physical demands that could aggravate his condition.

    What It Means for AEW

The situation requires AEW to maintain flexibility in their creative planning. Long-term storylines involving Omega must account for the possibility of setbacks, and the promotion needs contingency plans should his health require another extended absence.

For fans, this means Omega\’s appearances and matches will likely be more carefully curated than before his diagnosis. While his in-ring work remains at a high level, the frequency and duration of his matches will be guided by medical necessity rather than creative preference alone.

The silver lining is that AEW has found a sustainable way to keep Omega active and relevant while prioritizing his long-term health—a balance that benefits both the performer and the promotion.
