Jon Moxley vs. Mick Foley In AEW? Renee Paquette Weighs In

    Mick Foley and Jon Moxley

Renee Paquette has a complicated answer to the dream match a chunk of AEW fans are already pitching. With Mick Foley now part of All Elite Wrestling, the long-discussed idea of a Jon Moxley clash with the Hardcore Legend is suddenly closer to real than it has been in over a decade, and Moxley’s wife is not sure she wants it.

Foley arrived in AEW this week, joining Paquette on the Double or Nothing Buy In broadcast in a deal Tony Khan has framed as an ongoing role rather than a one-off. That puts Foley and Moxley under the same banner for the first time, reopening talk of a confrontation WWE planned but never delivered.

Speaking on Busted Open Radio, Paquette said the appeal is obvious, especially with her husband working at what she sees as the peak of his career. But the prospect of watching the two share a ring pulls her in two directions.

“The fact that that never got to happen and never came to fruition the way that it could have,” Paquette said of the original WWE plan. She called the idea of finally seeing it “stressful,” adding, “I don’t know that I want to wish that into fruition.”

Paquette stopped short of ruling anything out, instead pointing to AEW’s booker. “I think that’s for Tony to leave that open-ended and say that something like that could happen,” she said. “I think we just have to all kind of wait and see.”

Her honest position landed somewhere between fan and family. “I will say, just as a fan of Mick and a fan of the things that he brings to the table, I’ll be in a fan POV for that until I’ve got to do a ringside hit and there’s gore everywhere,” Paquette said.

The WWE Match That Never Happened

Moxley, then known as Dean Ambrose, was lined up to debut against Foley in 2012 following a viral online feud the pair built through real-world confrontations and pointed social media exchanges around WrestleMania 28. The angle centered on Ambrose blasting Foley for inspiring a generation of wrestlers to hurt themselves for applause.

The match was scrapped when Foley could not get medical clearance, and Ambrose instead debuted later that year as part of The Shield alongside Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns. Moxley has said since then that he is fine with the bout remaining a dream match rather than something that actually took place.

Moxley currently sits at the top of AEW’s card as Continental Champion. He defends that title against Kyle O’Reilly at Double or Nothing in Queens, New York, with Foley now in the building as a regular AEW presence.

Kyle O’Reilly is going to Double or Nothing.

The Conglomeration star competed in his first singles match since his return to the ring in April this week. He faced Jon Moxley at the latest episode of Dynamite. The two men fought hard, but neither of them was able to gain enough advantage to pick up the victory before the time limit expired.

After the match, it was announced that O’Reilly had earned a shot at Mox’s Continental Title just by surviving the bout till the end. Kyle noted that he would like no limit to be attached to his next match with the current champion, though no announcement for the same was made during the night.

This wasn’t the only PPV match made official tonight as Will Ospreay laid out a challenge for Jon Moxley which the Death Riders leader accepted. This will be Ospreay’s first PPV match since Forbidden Door 2025, though Mox’s Continental Title has not been added to the mix.

Will Ospreay Reveals Clearance Date, Targets Jon Moxley

Will Ospreay recently revealed that he was cleared to return to AEW on February 25th, 2026, after undergoing double fusion surgery on September 17th last year. Ospreay made his return at AEW Revolution in Los Angeles, CA, on March 15th, confronting Jon Moxley.

Ospreay’s return comes as the ticket pre-sale for All In 2026 begins. According to Will Ospreay’s tweet, he was cleared a few weeks after AEW began building hype for his return.

At AEW Revolution, Moxley defeated Konosuke Takeshita to retain the Continental Championship. After the match, Ospreay emerged and fought off the Death Riders before Moxley escaped.

    Ospreay’s Road to Recovery

Ospreay had been recovering from surgery and during the rehab he stayed involved in wrestling through his role as a producer for the U.K. women’s indie promotion Pro Wrestling Eve. He last wrestled in August last year before the surgery. His return at Revolution saw him immediately target Jon Moxley, setting up a potential feud. Ospreay figures to play a big part at All In 2026 in his home country of the United Kingdom.

Jon Moxley Says He’d Wrestle Every Night: ‘Only Way You Get Better’

Former AEW World Champion Jon Moxley recently said that he would wrestle every night if he could. He explained the importance of staying active in wrestling and his desire to help others gain experience.

In an interview with TV Insider, Moxley mentioned that he gets the most satisfaction from helping others in AEW grow and develop, whether they are his Death Riders teammates or opponents.

    Moxley said:

“To me, I get so much satisfaction seeing other people grow as they evolve in their journey in wrestling. I remember going on a crazy ride where one day I’m a nobody and next day I’m on this crazy ass ride. To be able to take other people along with me has been really gratifying.”

“Usually, the stuff I’m looking for is not the things others are looking for or care about. I’m always looking at little stuff other people don’t look at or pay attention to. I’m like, “f*ck yeah” when I see someone is leveling up and their understanding of this is leveling up. The work ethic is one of the key things for us. We like to be active.“

    Staying Active In The Ring

Jon Moxley further said that the only way to improve at wrestling is to stay active. The AEW Continental Champion said that he would wrestle every night if he could.

    He added:

“The only way you get better at this is to do it a lot. I would wrestle every night if they let me. I would also step aside and let the other guys wrestle because I want them to wrestle too. We’d be in the ring every night if we could.”

    Moxley’s AEW Continental Championship

Up next for Moxley, he is scheduled to team with Claudio Castagnoli on tonight’s episode of AEW Dynamite in San Jose against Konosuke Takeshita and Hechicero of the Don Callis Family. The match comes ahead of his Continental title defense against Takeshita on Sunday at AEW Revolution.

  • Title Match And More Added To AEW Revolution

New matches have been added to AEW Revolution.

The Young Bucks had won a three-way match at last week\’s Dynamite to earn a shot at the AEW tag team champions FTR. This week\’s episode of the Wednesday Night show saw the AEW co-founders taking out the tag champions and their manager, Stokely Hathaway with superkicks.

The brothers then laid out the challenge for the much-anticipated rematch for the upcoming PPV set to take place from the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, California, on March 15.

The show also featured Jon Moxley challenging Konosuke Takeshita to a No Time Limit rematch at the event. This comes after their Continental Championship match at Grand Slam Australia ended in a 20-minute time limit draw.

This is in addition to the already announced World Title match between AEW Champion MJF and challenger Hangman Page for the upcoming show. The two stars had a promo battle on Dynamite this week where Page proposed a surprising stipulation for the bout. You can check out more about it here.

  • 4 Title Matches Confirmed For AEW Grand Slam Australia On Dynamite

AEW has confirmed multiple big matches for their trip to Australia.

A Jon Moxley title defence and a Women\’s Tag Title match were also confirmed during the same episode, though probably the most shocking moment came during the main event.

  • Seth Rollins Doesn\’t See A Shield Reunion Happening Anytime Soon

Seth Rollins hopes the Shield will reunite sometime in the distant future.

The Architect and his wife Becky Lynch, were recently featured in a GQ video. They discussed things such as how Lynch never really lost her title, everyone saying that Becky is the greatest wrestler of all time, WWE officials conspiring against The Man and more.

When the question of a potential Shield reunion came up, Seth Rollins said the chances of it are very slim. He mentioned his on-screen rivalry with Roman Reigns but also acknowledged Jon Moxley being signed with AEW:

“Well, not a lot of love lost between myself and Roman Reigns. Dean Ambrose—Jon Moxley—not currently with the company. Don’t know if he’s ever coming back. I would say the chances are very slim.\”

    One Day: Seth Rollins

Rollins then expressed the hope that all three of them can share the stage once again somewhere down the line for a Hall of Fame induction, before joking about potentially including Kurt Angle in their reunion:

\”Maybe one day there will be a Hall of Fame induction where all three of us will be in the same place at the same time. I would say we’re looking at, like, maybe Kurt Angle has a better chance.”

The Olympic Gold Medalist became an honorary member of the Shield when he filled in for Roman Reigns at the 2017 TLC event. This unlikely trio went on to defeat Braun Strowman, The Miz, Kane, Cesaro, and Sheamus in a 3-on-5 Handicap TLC match.

  • Kyle Fletcher On Criticism of His Dangerous Worlds End Spot

Kyle Fletcher understands the criticism of his spot with Jon Moxley.

The Don Callis Family member landed on his neck while taking a top rope dragon suplex from Mox during their Worlds Ends match. The spot attracted a lot of negative reactions. A day after the PPV, William Regal made a lengthy post explaining the need for talent to protect themselves. Regal did not mention anyone by name and received a lot of support from the wrestling world on the sentiment.

During a recent interview with Nine Sports, the former TNT Champion addressed the incident. Kyle Fletcher admitted that the spot did not go as planned and said that he understands everyone\’s concerns:

“Of course, I have to take it [criticism] on board. Obviously, it didn’t go to plan, I understand all the points that everyone is making – it was very dangerous.\”

Kyle Fletcher explained that judging the danger was difficult for him while the match was ongoing because he did not feel anything out of the ordinary in the moment. He knew that he had landed a bit higher on the neck than intended but he felt fine despite the awkward landing:

“The referee came over and usually they will check on you once and you’re like ‘yeah no worries, it’s all good’ but then he came over a second time and asked again, which makes me think that there was maybe someone in his ear saying ‘make sure he’s OK’.

The AEW star noted that he only realised the error while watching the spot back later on. He also claimed that he was battered and bruised coming out of the match with the Death Riders leader, but it was nothing more than what he\’s used to dealing with as a pro wrestler.

  • Tony Khan Discusses Jon Moxley\’s Creative Genius Behind the Death Riders

Tony Khan has revealed that the iconic briefcase moment from AEW All In Texas was Jon Moxley\’s brainchild, offering rare insight into the creative collaboration between the promoter and one of wrestling\’s most compelling performers.

Speaking on the 100th episode of Unlikely with Adrian Hernandez, Khan praised Moxley\’s contributions to the Death Riders storyline that defined AEW\’s 2025.

\”It was a brilliant and that was John\’s idea. It was brilliant. I talked to John a lot and I love John so much and he\’s one of the most brilliant people and I\’m very grateful that he came into our lives,\” Khan said of the briefcase presentation that saw Hangman Page retrieve the AEW Championship.

Khan detailed an extensive three-hour creative session with Moxley before All In London 2024 that helped shape the year-long Death Riders arc.

\”I remember talking to John for like 3 hours before All In London and just some brilliant things and to think how far he was able to take it and his resolution. I\’m so proud of what AW accomplished in 2025 and John Moxley is a huge huge part of it,\” Khan explained.

The AEW president also addressed how the storyline\’s conclusion recontextualized Moxley\’s entire 2025 run, particularly the fan perception shift.

\”I think that John Moxley made it clear from the beginning he was going to try to lift AEW and he succeeded. People maybe didn\’t see what he was trying with his intentions, but everything he said he would do, he accomplished. And then at the end of the year, it meant so much to me and so many people around the locker room to see the fans embrace Mox again like that.\”

Moxley recently won the Continental Championship and continues to be a centerpiece of AEW programming. The Death Riders storyline earned Best Rivalry honors at Sports Illustrated, cementing its place in AEW history.

  • Updated: Shelton Benjamin Worries Fans With Emotional Dynamite Entrance

Shelton Benjamin got people talking with his Dynamite entrance.

The latest episode of the Wednesday night show featured the Hurt Syndicate star facing the new Continental Champion Jon Moxley in an eliminator match.

Fans noted, however, that Benjamin looked uneasy during his entrance for this bout, with many mentioning how he appeared to have shed tears right before coming out for the fight.

The wrestling veteran would go on to prove why he is considered one of the best in-ring talents in all of the industry as he delivered another instant classic with the Death Riders leader in this opening match of the night.

Though it was Moxley who picked up the victory in the end. The Continental Champion would steal the pin right before the time limit draw, and the two opponents shared a handshake after the bout.

It\’s unknown why Benjamin was so emotional before his match on the show. Stay tuned for any update on the matter.
