Jelly Roll: Pat McAfee & I Had No Business at WrestleMania

Jelly Roll had a simple mission heading into WrestleMania 42, and he delivered on it in spectacular fashion.

The country music star appeared in a post-show vlog from his suite at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, reflecting on a night that saw him drop an elbow through an announce table onto Pat McAfee during the main event. Jelly Roll was in Cody Rhodes’ corner for the WWE Championship match against Randy Orton, while McAfee sided with Orton after turning heel.

“I had one goal tonight and I kind of succeeded,” Jelly Roll said in the vlog. “Pat, I love you, man. Neither one of us had any business here.”

The sequence unfolded when Rhodes threw McAfee onto the announce table, setting the stage for Jelly Roll to run from a neighboring table and deliver a leaping elbow drop that shattered the table entirely. McAfee was carted out on a stretcher, though he was spotted later that evening at a concert, neck brace and all.

In the vlog, Jelly Roll joked about a photo of himself levitating over McAfee during the impact. “There’s going to be a picture of me somewhere levitating over Pat McAfee and I’m going to have to frame it,” he said.

The night also drew praise from Jelly Roll for the broader show, calling the Oba Femi segment involving Brock Lesnar “one of the more emotional surprises of the night” and describing the six-man ladder match as a standout.

Ex-WWE Commentator Calls Out WrestleMania Celebrities and Ticket Sales

Former WWE commentator Jonathan Coachman recently slammed WWE’s decision to involve celebrities in the WrestleMania 42 main event scene following last night’s SmackDown.

The Coach raised questions with both Pat McAfee and Jelly Roll being featured prominently in the feud between Cody Rhodes and Randy Orton.

On SmackDown, Jelly Roll also confronted McAfee over his recent turn on Rhodes and alignment with Orton.

    Coachman Questions Celebrity Involvement

Taking to X after SmackDown, Coachman shared what he called an “Emergency SmackDown Take” and made his views clear.

“I never make a video on Friday night, but this is embarrassing, the business that I’ve been in for 25 years.”

“Individually, I love Cody, Randy, Legends, Hall of Famers, Jelly Roll, one of my favorite performers, Pat McAfee, a unicorn. Respect. It’s not their fault. But are you serious?”

“Celebrities, no matter how much they train, should not be used in main event storyline as a prop… are really going to sell any more tickets. With eight days to go from people outside of Las Vegas, what are we doing?”

    Ticket Discount Announcement Draws Criticism

McAfee announced a 25% discount on WrestleMania 42 tickets, seemingly in response to tickets still being available. Coachman questioned WWE’s decision to promote this discount so close to the event.

“Eight days before WrestleMania, we’re gonna do the equivalent of walking out there and having Pat McAfee say, I’m doing you a solid… here’s a coupon, everybody,” Coachman said.

“In what universe does a family of four say, oh, I get 25% off tickets tonight, so let me go book 1,000 worth of plane tickets to go to Vegas and spend another three to 4,000 after I get there on eight days notice because you offered me a discount.”

McAfee will be in Orton’s corner when he challenges Rhodes for the Undisputed WWE Championship at WrestleMania 42 next weekend. Pat has vowed that he will leave pro wrestling programming for good should Orton fail to win the title from Rhodes in Las Vegas.

  • Jelly Roll Announced For SmackDown Match Next Week

Jelly Roll Announced For SmackDown Match Next Week

Jelly Roll is getting a match.

The rap star got involved in a storyline with Kit Wilson while making an appearance on The Miz TV on last week’s SmackDown. Roll ended up hitting the A-Lister while trying to take out Wilson for some harsh words.

The Pretty Deadly star called out Jelly Roll for a fight on this week’s episode of the Blue Branded Show, but he then proposed a Slam Poetry contest when the Grammy-nominated artist did show up.

After some jokes about Jelly Roll’s dick and Kit Wilson’s mom, the segment ended with the former NXT star attacking JR and laying him out with an elbow drop.

Unhappy with how things turned out, Jelly found Nick Aldis backstage later on, and demanded a match with Wilson. The SmackDown General Manager obliged and made the match official for next week’s episode of the show from Pittsburgh.

Jelly Roll made his wrestling debut at SummerSlam 2025 when he teamed up with Randy Orton to take on Drew McIntyre & Logan Paul.

The Miz was seen chatting Wilson backstage before tonight’s developments, and it’s likely that the former World Champion will get involved in the match next week.

The music star would need a tag team partner if this set up leads to another tag match at WrestleMania. You can let us know your prediction on his partner in the comments below.

    Jelly Roll\’s WWE History

  • WWE 2K26: Jelly Roll Confirmed with 80 Overall Rating

WWE and 2K Games unveiled the full roster ratings for WWE 2K26 on Thursday, and as is tradition, the numbers wasted no time igniting passionate debate across social media.

The highly anticipated ratings reveal — hosted by Joe Tessitore, Big E, and Kevin Owens — covered the entire playable roster ahead of the game\’s March 13, 2026 release on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC.

Jey Uso Rated Above AJ Styles

Among the more talked-about ratings, Jey Uso checked in at an 91 overall, placing him above veterans like AJ Styles, a placement that drew mixed reactions online.

While Uso has undeniably been one of WWE\’s hottest babyfaces over the past year, many fans questioned whether the \”Main Event\” star\’s stock has truly surpassed that of \”The Phenomenal One,\” who has logged over two decades of elite in-ring work across multiple major promotions.

    Jelly Roll Outranks Established Superstars

Perhaps no rating generated more conversation than that of celebrity addition Jelly Roll, the Grammy-nominated rapper and country singer confirmed as a playable character in the game\’s Celebrities category.

The Nashville-born artist was assigned an 80 overall — higher than several full-time, full-time roster members, including rising star Je\’Von Evans, who received a 78.

\”The Young OG\” has been building momentum on WWE\’s main roster with notable victories over names like Rey Mysterio and AJ Styles. Fans and fellow WWE talent alike took to social media to express frustration, with many arguing that a performer logging nights in the ring week in and week out deserves recognition over a celebrity appearance, regardless of how beloved Jelly Roll may be.

    Another Year…

Ratings controversies are essentially a WWE 2K rite of passage at this point. Every year, the reveal cycle generates its own wave of debates, memes, and hot takes — and in many ways, that engagement is part of the fun.

With Super John Cena rated a perfect 100 overall in the game, and the full roster now public, fans will have plenty to dissect between now and launch day.

WWE 2K26 hits shelves and digital storefronts on March 13, 2026.

  • Jelly Roll Receives Pardon For Past Crimes Before Christmas

Jelly Roll has received an unexpected Christmas present.

The 41-year-old had been convicted of robbery back in 2002, when he was only 17. A female acquaintance had helped the rapper and two armed accomplices steal $350 from a home back then.

The victims had recognized the female acquaintance leading to Roll\’s arrest with her. The country music star had been unarmed, so he spent one year in prison and got probation.

This wasn\’t his only brush with the police, as the WWE star was also caught with marijuana and crack cocaine in his car back in 2008, this time receiving eight years of court-ordered supervision as punishment.

The American rapper had been petitioning for a pardon for these crimes since October 2024, which he claimed would allow him to travel internationally to perform missionary work.

The Associated Press confirmed that the Tennessee governor, Bill Lee, finally issued the pardon Roll had been seeking for a while on Thursday.

Lee said, “His story is remarkable, and it’s a redemptive, powerful story, which is what you look for and what you hope for,” while granting the pardon, which also gives Jelly Roll his right to vote back.

Real name Jason Bradley DeFord, the Grammy-nominated artist made his wrestling debut this year, teaming with Randy Orton at SummerSlam in a losing effort against Logan Paul and Drew McIntyre.
