Tony Khan Confirms Gabe Kidd Status After Dynasty

Tony Khan has confirmed Gabe Kidd’s injury.

The War Dogs defended their AEW trios title against The Conglomeration on tonight’s Dynasty PPV. Kidd appeared to have suffered an injury during the bout as he was taken to the back halfway through the match and we didn’t see him again.

The AEW President was asked about the former NJPW star while appearing on the Dynasty post-show. Tony Khan confirmed that Gabe Kidd is out indefinitely with a shoulder injury:

“Gabe is out indefinitely. He is injured. It’s a shoulder injury. We’ll be evaluating him. I can’t say for sure what the injury is. The doctors are evaluating Gabe for injury.”

The Conglomeration went on to win the trios title after the returning Kyle O’Reilly made Clark Connors tap out with an ankle lock.

The Dogs had only won the championship on Collision the day before the PPV, so many have been wondering if the title change was an audible called due to Kidd’s injury. You can check out the latest backstage update on the matter here.

Was Audible Called In AEW Dynasty Title Match Due To Injury?

    Gabe Kidd is injured.

The former NJPW star was taken backstage midway through War Dogs’ Trios Title defence on AEW Dynasty over a suspected shoulder injury. The Conglomeration then went on to win the championship after the returning Kyle O’Reilly made Clark Connors tap out.

The trio of Kidd, Connors, and David Finlay had only won the title on this week’s episode of Collision. So many people wondered if an audible was called during the bout and if the Dogs were originally supposed to retain the belts before Gabe was taken out.

Update On Trios Title Change On Dynasty

Fightful Select provided some updates on the matter after the match. They confirmed that Gabe Kidd appeared to be injured upon arriving backstage. As for the match finish, however, the site reported that the title change was always the plan:

“Kidd appeared to be holding his arm during the exit. The rest of the match had to be called on an altered plan. The finish was not changed, as Conglomeration was schedule to win all along.”

The severity of Kidd’s injury is not known at the moment, so it’s hard to say what his immediate wrestling future will look like. Stay tuned for more updates on his health.

Gabe Kidd might be dealing with an injury.

Tonight’s Dynasty PPV featured the War Dogs defending the AEW trios championship against a returning Kyle O’Reilly, and his Conglomeration teammates Orange Cassidy & Roderick Strong.

Kidd appears to have suffered an arm or shoulder injury early in the bout as he was seen favoring the same during multiple spots.

The medical checked on him midway through the bout. They ultimately decided to take the former NJPW star out of the match, leading him backstage while the fight continued.

Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer seemingly provided an update on his condition on X, noting that they fear Gabe Kidd to have suffered a dislocated shoulder.

The Conglomeration went on to win the match and the championship after Kyle O’Reilly made Clark Connors tap out with an ankle lock. There is no word on if this was the planned finish to the title bout. Stay tuned for more updates on the matter.

  • Unsanctioned Match And More Added To Wednesday’s Dynamite

Unsanctioned Match And More Added To Wednesday’s Dynamite

Two big stipulation matches have been added to Dynamite.

The Revolution PPV tonight saw Toni Storm picking up a victory over Marina Shafir in a singles match. The former Women’s Champion did not end the segment on top, however, as Ronda Rousey made a surprise AEW appearance, and the distraction allowed Shafir to deliver a cheap shot to Storm.

The company confirmed that their rivalry will continue after this turn of events, and announced a No Holds Barred rematch between the two women for this Wednesday’s show.

This wasn’t the only match made official as Gabe Kidd hijacked the post-Revolution press conference. This came after the team of Darby Allin, Orange Cassidy, & Roderick Strong defeated Kidd, Clark Connors, and David Finlay in a Tornado Trios Match at the PPV.

Kidd demanded an opportunity to end Darby Allin once and for all during his appearance. He proposed an Unsanctioned Coffin Match for this week’s episode of Dynamite between the two, which Tony Khan later approved.

During the media scrum, Khan also commented on Ronda Rousey’s status with the company after her debut. You can check out what he said here.

  • New Faction Officially Joins AEW Roster After Dynamite Debut

The Dogs have joined the AEW roster.

Tonight\’s episode of Wednesday night Dynamite featured the former NJPW duo of Clark Connors and Gabe Kidd in action against the team of Orange Cassidy and Darby Allin.

The ending of the bout saw Darby taking Connors and Kidd out with a Coffin Drop outside the ring from the top rope. Cassidy then got Clark back in the ring and delivered an Orange Punch to him for the victory.

They couldn\’t celebrate the win for long, however, as David Finlay made his surprise AEW debut. Bringing a Shillelagh with him, the former IWGP Global Heavyweight Champion helped his partners beat up Orange Cassidy and Darby Allin to end the segment.

Tony Khan took to X after this to confirm that all three names have officially signed with the company under the new faction name of The Dogs:

Both Gabe Kidd and Clark Connors have been regulars on AEW TV since the beginning of this year, but there had been rumors about the future of David Finlay after he became a free agent last month.

Being the son of wrestling veteran and current WWE coach, Fit Finlay, there had been speculations that David could end up in the Endeavor-owned promotion before his debut tonight.

  • Darby Allin Cleared For Action, World\’s End Match Teased

Darby Allin has been cleared for action.

The former TNT Champion had been put on the shelf and replaced in the Continental Classic tournament after being hospitalized earlier this month.

In a backstage interview on this week\’s Dynamite on 34th Street special, it was then confirmed that the daredevil star had finally been cleared for action.

Allin was asked about the challenge Gabe Kidd threw out for the World\’s End PPV this Saturday. As Darby was claiming that he had bigger things to worry about, however, Kidd himself came up from behind and attacked the former champion.

The camera cut out for a second, and when things became visible again, the two stars were seen brawling at the foot of some stairs. Kidd forced Darby up the stairs only to throw him down again, to end the segment.

A bout between the two stars has not been made official yet, but it\’s very likely to take place at the World\’s End PPV this Saturday after this segment.

Apart from this, tonight\’s show also featured the crowning of a new Dynamite Diamond Ring holder after MJF had won it six times in a row. You can check out more about it here.
