Raw Star Officially Moved To SmackDown

    Finn Balor has moved on.

WWE recently revealed the full brackets for the announced King of the Ring tournament featuring stars from both Raw and SmackDown rosters. One interesting detail on the graphic showed the former Universal Champion being represented by the blue color instead of red, giving rise to speculation that the wrestling veteran had switched brands.

The move was then confirmed during the latest episode of the Monday Night show. While interviewing the Judgment Day during a commercial break, Byron Saxton noted that Finn Balor had officially been traded to SmackDown:

The King of the Ring tournament kicked off at tonight’s Raw, with Oba Femi picking up a dominant victory over Penta, Solo Sikoa, and Carmelo Hayes to advance to the semi-finals of the tournament. Balor will get his own chance for the same when he faces LA Knight, Jey Uso, and Royce Keys in a first-round match.

There is no word on whether Raw will be getting a replacement for Finn. Though with Jacob Fatu acknowledging Roman Reigns on the Red Branded Show this week, it’s possible that the Samoan Werewolf is now considered a Raw star in place of Balor.

Watch: Star Returns To Old Look On Raw After WrestleMania

Finn Balor is back to his old ways.

The former Universal Champion picked up a huge victory at WrestleMania. He defeated Dominik Mysterio in his demon avatar.

Tonight’s episode of Raw then featured a video package where Balor announced that he was not done with the Judgment Day just yet and confirmed that he will be facing JD McDonagh on the show.

The match took place before the main event segment involving Roman Reigns. It saw Finn Balor bringing back his OG ring gear, which he had abandoned after turning heel and joining the faction:

The match saw both contestants brawling outside before the bell rang. Finn picked up the victory over his former protege with a Coup de Grace in the end. Dominik Mysterio tried to attack his former teammate after the bout but Balor managed to fend him off.

This wasn’t the only Judgment Day story of the night as Liv Morgan celebrated her WrestleMania victory over Stephanie Vaquer elsewhere in the show. The segment led to the debut of a former NXT Champion. You can check out more about it here.

  • Finn Balor Teases Bringing Back Demon For WrestleMania

Finn Balor Teases Bringing Back Demon For WrestleMania

Finn Balor is bringing back his dark side.

The former Universal Champion was scheduled to face JD McDonagh on this week’s Raw. Before the match could begin, Dominik Mysterio attacked Balor. Finn put up a fight, but the numbers game proved too much for him as McDonagh joined the beatdown and the Judgment Day stood tall to end the segment.

This wasn’t end of the story for the night, however, as a vignette featuring Finn Balor later aired on the show where he addressed the earlier segment. Balor teased bringing out a side of him at WrestleMania that Dirty Dom has never seen before, and the promo ended on the music notes of the Demon Balor theme:

“I hoped we could play nice. But what should I expect from you when I’m the one who showed you how to play dirty? Well, playtime’s over. Think you know me, Dominik? Really, you only know one side of me.  There’s a side of me that I’ve never shown you before. A side that I buried long time ago. A side that I thought was gone forever. You’ve awoken it. It’s back. At WrestleMania, it’s coming for you.”

We’ve not seen Finn Balor’s demon persona since WrestleMania 39, when Edge defeated the former NJPW star in a Hell In A Cell match. Talking about the Demon on Cody Rhodes’ podcast earlier this year, Balor mentioned that he did not like WWE’s approach to the character. Finn had explained that he liked to surprise fans with it, instead of the Demon’s appearance being advertised in advance.

Finn Balor will face Dominik Mysterio in a singles match at WrestleMania 42.

  • Finn Balor Was ‘Super Emotional’ To Leave NJPW and Join WWE in 2014

Finn Balor Was ‘Super Emotional’ To Leave NJPW and Join WWE in 2014

Former WWE Universal Champion Finn Balor recently reflected on his decision to jump ship from NJPW to WWE in 2014. ‘The Prince’ revealed that he had envisioned spending his entire career in Japan.

The former NXT Champion opened up about the emotional departure during an appearance on Talk’n Shop Live. Balor, who served as the inaugural leader of Bullet Club, left NJPW at the height of the faction’s popularity. He admitted the timing made his exit bittersweet.

“I think what we had in Bullet Club when I was there was a real special time. Leaving when it was that hot was kind of bittersweet. I had known for a long time that I wanted to move on, but it’s always bittersweet. And I cried, obviously, leaving New Japan. That was super emotional,” Balor said.

The Irishman explained his mindset before making the jump to WWE. He viewed the move as taking a chance rather than a permanent career shift.

“I kind of always pictured my whole career in Japan up until that point. I just really wanted to roll the dice in WWE and give it one try. And if it’s gonna be a year, it’s gonna be a year, whatever, and then go back to Japan,” Balor revealed.

    Balor’s NJPW Accomplishments

During his time in NJPW, Balor established himself as one of the promotion’s top junior heavyweights. He captured the IWGP Junior Heavyweight Championship three times and the IWGP Junior Heavyweight Tag Team Championship six times.

Balor also won the Best of the Super Juniors tournament in both 2010 and 2013. His success in Japan laid the foundation for his eventual transition to WWE NXT in 2014.

Since joining WWE, Balor has remained an active performer on the roster. His initial plan to potentially return to Japan after a year evolved into a long-term career with the promotion.

  • Finn Balor Reflects on AJ Styles’ Unexpected Retirement

Finn Balor Reflects on AJ Styles’ Unexpected Retirement

Finn Balor recently opened up on AJ Styles’ retirement from professional wrestling. The former Universal Champion revealed he was caught off guard by the timing of Styles’ decision to step away from in-ring competition.

Speaking on Talk’n Shop Live, Balor recounted learning about Styles’ retirement plans. He said ‘The Phenomenal One’ had mentioned thinking about retiring in 2026, which Balor initially assumed meant later in the year, around Survivor Series.

The reality came much sooner than expected. Balor shared a conversation that took place while walking out of a RAW taping in Germany, just a couple of weeks before Styles’ actual retirement.

“AJ [Styles] had told me he was thinking about retiring in 2026. And in my brain, that was like, ‘Oh, okay. That’s Survivor Series.’ And then I think we’re walking out of a RAW taping in Germany two weeks before his actual retirement, and we’re walking out onto the bus,” Balor shared. “I said, ‘You’re working Gunther soon?’ He goes, ‘Yes. Think it might be the last one.’ I was like, ‘For real?’ He goes, ‘Yeah.’ Whoa. Holy cow. I was blown away.”

    Balor’s Well Wishes for Styles

Balor expressed happiness for his colleague’s ability to retire on his own terms. He praised Styles for stepping away without major injuries and being able to spend time with his family.

“I must say I’m super happy for him to be able to step away with his general health. No major injuries so to speak. I know he’s a little banged up, like we all are, but to step away on his terms and be with his family, that’s such a beautiful thing. I wish him the best, and I’m sure I’ll be seeing him pretty soon.”

While AJ Styles has hung up his wrestling boots, he is still working with WWE as a talent scout. Meanwhile, Finn Balor is set to face Dominik Mysterio at WrestleMania 42 in Las Vegas, Nevada.

  • Dominik Mysterio: “Finn Bálor had his time. Past tense.”

Dominik Mysterio: “Finn Bálor had his time. Past tense.”

Dominik Mysterio has spoken candidly about his ascension to the top of The Judgment Day, the ousting of Finn Bálor, and why he thinks JD McDonagh is better off without his former best friend.

In an interview on The Collection with Brad Gilmore at Reality of Wrestling in Houston, Dom addressed the faction’s March 9 attack on Bálor and his own position atop wrestling’s most dominant stable.

“It had to be done,” Mysterio said plainly. “There were a lot of differences going on. We weren’t being a cohesive unit. At the end of the day, we played the Finn Bálor playbook and that’s what happened. He should have seen it coming.”

    The shadow of Finn Balor

Dom was particularly effusive about JD McDonagh being the one to pull the trigger on the betrayal, calling it a long time coming for the Irishman who spent years operating in Bálor’s shadow.

“I’m so happy for JD for finally being able to leave Finn’s shadow — he’s been in it for too long,” Mysterio said. “Finn Bálor had his time. Past tense.”

He also offered a pointed summary of Bálor’s place in Judgment Day history:

“We’re in the future now, and the future is about Dom. It’s about JD. It’s about Liv. It’s about Raquel… and Roxanne Perez, of course.”

Original Plans for Dominik Mysterio vs. Finn Balor

Finn Bálor vs. Dominik Mysterio was reportedly scheduled for SummerSlam last year, but WWE opted to hold off on that matchup, feeling the Judgment Day storyline was still running hot and the change should come at a later date.

At the time, the plan had Bálor bringing back the Demon gimmick for the event, according to the Wrestling Observer.

Dom initially reluctant to Judgment Day

In a candid moment during the interview with Brad Gilmore, Mysterio admitted he wasn’t a true believer when Judgment Day first recruited him.

“No, not at all. I fought it for a long time. It felt weird and hokey at the very beginning,” he said. “But then something happened where all four of us clicked outside of the ring. We were all riding together, so it all transitioned to inside the ring. And man, it just worked.”

Dom pointed to the faction’s uninterrupted run of championship success as proof of concept, noting that Judgment Day has held at least one title throughout its entire existence as a group. The faction is showing no signs of slowing down even as it enters a new chapter without another founding member.

  • JD McDonagh Blames Finn Balor For Judgment Day Attack: \’You Lied To Us\’

The Judgment Day finally turned on Finn Balor during the March 9th edition of WWE Raw. Fellow Irishman JD McDonagh betrayed Balor and aligned himself with Dominik Mysterio, Liv Morgan, and Raquel Rodriguez in a four-on-one assault.

The major angle played out on WWE Raw, with McDonagh initially appearing to try to cool tensions between Balor and Dominik Mysterio. However, when Balor attacked Mysterio, McDonagh dropped him with a clothesline, cementing his allegiance to the rest of Judgment Day.

    JD McDonagh\’s Explanation

Following the attack, McDonagh took to X and blamed Balor’s ego for the tensions within the group, choosing his \”family\” in Judgment Day over his friend Balor.

“You lied to all of us for months. You got an ego. You wanted to be the leader. You played games,” McDonagh wrote. “That’s never been what the Judgment Day has been about. You used to know that. Judgment Day is my family and if anybody dares to try to step on any of them, you get stomped out.”

During the attack, Dominik Mysterio used the timekeeper’s hammer to deliver a 619 on his former friend and then hit a frog splash on a chair. The attack concluded with The Judgment Day members standing tall over Balor.

While it has not been announced yet, this angle could set up a match between Finn Balor and Dominik Mysterio at WrestleMania 42, which takes place April 18-19.

  • Finn Balor Kicked Out of Judgment Day On Raw

Finn Balor is no longer in Judgment Day.

Last week\’s episode of Monday Night Raw saw Dominik Mysterio losing his Intercontinental Championship to Penta, after Balor stopped JD McDonagh from helping their teammate.

The trio of Dirty Dom, Liv Morgan, and Raquel Rodriguez then made an appearance on this week\’s Raw with Mysterio demanding a rematch for his title. Finn Balor accompanied by McDonagh, made his entrance and confronted the now former champion.

After some back and forth, Balor told Dom that maybe his father was right, and maybe he is just a spoiled little prick. This led to Mysterio shoving the former world champion and then eating a Pelé Kick from Finn in return.

JD tried to calm things down by taking Balor to a corner. Finn, however, shoved McDonagh out of the way as he saw Dominik charging at him, leading to JD laying him out with a clothesline.

A full-scale attack followed, with all Judgment Day members beating up Finn Balor. Dominik Mysterio used the timekeeper’s hammer to deliver a 619 on his former friend and then took him out for good with a frog splash on a chair.

Balor could stay out of action for some time to sell this attack but he\’s likely to be back before WrestleMania to set up a match with Mysterio at the Show of Shows.

  • Finn Balor Wants To Remove \’Stain\’ From WWE Career Before Retirement

Finn Balor wants to rewrite his story.

The Judgment Day star spoke to SHAK Wrestling recently to talk about his upcoming World Championship match against CM Punk at tonight\’s Elimination Chamber PPV. Among other things, he was asked about the recent retirement of AJ Styles.

Finn Balor who joined the main roster the same year as AJ discussed how Styles\’ retirement made him think about his own career in the company, specifically his short Universal Title reign:

\”It kind of got me thinking about my story in the business, what I need to do. There\’s a lot of talk about, you know, finishing the story in wrestling, but I feel like my story doesn\’t need to be finished, it needs to be completely rewritten. Because I have this massive stain on my career from 10 years ago when I got hurt and had to relinquish the Universal Championship.\”

I Need To Fix This: Finn Balor

The 44-year-old had a dream main roster debut, beating the likes of Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins on his way to becoming the Inaugural Universal Champion within a month of his first Raw appearance. He ended up suffering an unfortunate injury in his match with Rollins however, which forced him to relinquish the title only a day after winning it.

The former NJPW star claimed that he has been trying to remove the stain of the short title reign ever since and he has found some success in form of various singles and tag team accomplishments in the company. Until he wins the World Title one more time however, Finn Balor will not feel comfortable in his retirement:

\”AJ retiring kind of brought it to the forefront of my thoughts that like, \’hey, the clock\’s ticking\’ and I need to fix this quick, or I\’m gonna be retiring with that stain, and I don\’t want to retire with that stain.\”

Balor\’s opponent CM Punk has also been doing media rounds to promote the upcoming show and he recently commented on the latest controversy involving Donald Trump. You can check out what he said here.

  • Finn Bálor Snaps 166-Day Winless Streak

Finn Bálor picked up his first victory in over five months on Saturday night, defeating Je\’Von Evans at the WWE Road to WrestleMania house show in Lubbock, Texas. The win at United Supermarkets Arena snapped a 166-day winless streak for the former Universal Champion.

Bálor\’s last victory came on September 1, 2025, when he defeated Dragon Lee on Monday Night Raw. Since then, he went 0-7 in televised matches over the next five-plus months, making it one of the more notable dry spells of his WWE career.

The bout with Evans was described as \”an absolute banger,\” with both superstars delivering high-level athleticism throughout. Evans showcased his aerial abilities with multiple high-flying attempts, but Bálor ultimately secured the pinfall victory after sustained back-and-forth action.

After the bell, Bálor helped Evans to his feet and endorsed him to the audience.

Bálor Heads Into Elimination Chamber With Momentum

The timing of the win is notable, as Bálor is currently in the midst of a major storyline heading into WWE Elimination Chamber on February 28, where he is scheduled to challenge CM Punk (c) for the World Heavyweight Championship.

Bálor earned the title shot after a competitive match against Punk on Raw in Belfast, which ended with Punk raising Bálor\’s arm in a show of respect. Now with a win under his belt and momentum on his side, Bálor heads to Chicago looking to capture the World Heavyweight Championship for the first time.

  • CM Punk vs. Finn Bálor Title Match Set for Elimination Chamber

CM Punk (c) will defend the World Heavyweight Championship against Finn Bálor at WWE Elimination Chamber on February 28 in Chicago. The match was made official during tonight\’s episode of Raw after Bálor interrupted a planned in-ring interview with the champion and demanded a rematch.

How the Match Was Made on Raw

Bálor confronted Punk during his interview segment and made his case for another shot at the World Heavyweight Title. Raw General Manager Adam Pearce initially resisted the idea, expressing concern about jeopardizing the already-announced Elimination Chamber event and the bigger picture heading into WrestleMania 42.

Pearce\’s concern centered on the risk of Punk entering WrestleMania without the title if something went wrong in Chicago. However, Punk insisted on accepting the challenge, and the title match was officially sanctioned for the Premium Live Event at the United Center.

    The Punk-Bálor Rivalry So Far

The feud between the two dates back to January, when Punk retained the World Heavyweight Championship against Bálor on the January 19 episode of Raw in Belfast, Northern Ireland.

Despite a show of mutual respect after the Belfast match, Bálor turned aggressive the following week. He attacked Punk during a World Heavyweight Championship match against AJ Styles on the January 26 Raw, causing the bout to end in disqualification.

Bálor then attempted to enter the Royal Rumble match but was told by Pearce that all 30 spots were filled, further fueling his frustration.

What This Means for the Road to WrestleMania

Elimination Chamber 2026 serves as the final Premium Live Event before WrestleMania 42 in Las Vegas. Punk is already slated to face Roman Reigns in the WrestleMania main event after Reigns won the 2026 Royal Rumble.

With the Reigns match looming, Punk\’s decision to put the title on the line in his hometown adds a layer of drama to the build. A loss would throw the entire WrestleMania main event picture into chaos, though Bálor\’s chances of dethroning Punk at this stage appear slim.

For Bálor, the match represents his biggest opportunity since his days as the inaugural Universal Champion nearly a decade ago and could signal a significant singles push heading into the spring.

  • Finn Balor Snaps After Being Denied Royal Rumble Entry

    Finn Balor has snapped.

The Judgment Day star had unsuccessfully challenged CM Punk for the World Title on last week\’s Raw. The Straight Edge Star had shown respect to the fellow veteran after the bout.

The Monday Night show this week then featured another segment between the two where they both praised each other. Punk then told Balor to think about his legacy and ditch the Judgment Day.

The former Universal Champion later went to see Adam Pearce and declared himself for the Royal Rumble match. The Raw GM, however, told the former Bullet Club leader that the spots were filled and he could not give Balor entry into the battle royal.

After this and a subsequent backstage confrontation with Liv Morgan, Finn Balor finally had enough. He ended up attacking CM Punk during the main event of the show, where AJ Styles was challenging the World Champion for his title.

The former NJPW star delivered three back-to-back Coup de Graces to the defending champion and ended the night standing tall over him.

Punk is currently not booked for a match at Saturday\’s Royal Rumble PPV but he\’s unlikely to be left out the card for the Saudi Arabian show. It\’s possible that a rematch between Punk and Balor will be announced soon after tonight\’s segment.

  • Finn Bálor Calls Belfast Homecoming \’Most Memorable Night\’ of 25-Year Career

Finn Bálor delivered an emotional address to his hometown Belfast crowd following Monday Night Raw, declaring the evening the highlight of his entire wrestling career.

The Irish-born star, visibly moved by the reception, reflected on the significance of performing in front of family and friends after 25 years in professional wrestling.

\”I\’ve done a lot in my 25-year career in this business, and tonight is, without question, the most memorable night of my career so far,\” Bálor told the crowd.

The moment became even more personal when Bálor revealed he had just celebrated his mother\’s birthday with her for the first time in nearly 15 years. He then led the Belfast audience in singing \”Happy Birthday\” to his mother, Leonie.

\”This week was very special because yesterday, for the first time in almost 15 years, I got to celebrate my mother\’s birthday with her,\” he shared.

Bálor concluded his speech by addressing the crowd in Irish Gaelic before declaring, \”There is no place like home. Thank you very much, Belfast!\”

The segment was captured after Raw went off the air, giving fans an intimate look at The Prince\’s emotional homecoming.

  • Is It Time For Finn Balor To Move On From Judgment Day?

Dating back to 2022, Judgment Day has become one of WWE’s longest-running and most decorated factions. On paper, their collective resume includes four members winning three different world championships, besides the unusual distinction of members holding gold across the WWE main roster, NXT, and AAA.

Add onto that four different permutations winning tag team championships, a Royal Rumble victory, and a Money in the Bank win and it’s hard to question the group’s success.

Ever since ousting Edge from Judgment Day, Finn Balor’s had some claim to being the faction’s leader—often sharing some tension with others like Priest, Mysterio, and Liv Morgan for that role. Moreover, Balor’s exceptional in-ring talent and credibility as past main eventer have helped the group at every stage of its development.

As 2026 gets rolling, though, there’s a real question as to whether it\’s time for Balor to move on to other things.

Finn Balor Had Been Judgment Day’s Longest Tenured Member

Finn Balor is the longest tenured member of Judgment Day, well-exceeding founding leader Edge, as well as earlier inductees Rhea Ripley and Damian Priest. Indeed, Balor has, in many ways, been at the heart of the group, joining months before Dominik Mysterio and carrying forward the legacy of being the last remaining contributor who betrayed Edge in a hostile takeover of the faction in June 2022.

Balor’s talent has seen him regularly featured as a spotlight singles performer in Judgment Day, in addition to winning tag team gold alongside both Priest and JD McDonough.

Three and a half years into his membership, it is, in some ways, difficult to imagine Judgment Day without Balor or vice-versa. On the other hand, there’s a real case to be made he’s done all he can do with the group. At 44, Balor hasn’t openly discussed retirement, and all external indicators suggest he has years as an in-ring performer left on him. That said, one might argue he’s squandering the tail end of his prime in a largely supporting role for his heel group.

Judgment Day Can Be OK Without Finn Balor

At several stages of Judgment Day’s development, the group truly needed Finn Balor. Indeed, without him, the group would’ve been less of a proper faction than an intergender team of Damian Priest and Rhea Ripley by summer 2022.

From there, after Priest was out of the group effective SummerSlam 2024, there was a credibility gap to address. For all the heat and general improvement he underwent, Dominik Mysterio’s character  was not credible in the ring as anything more than a mid-card or tag team guy at that point, while JD McDonough, Carlito, and R-Truth were all very clearly situated as supporting players who alternately took bumps or provided comic relief, they weren’t about to wage war with Priest or flirt with a world title picture.

Balor’s stock as a credible main eventer has grown tainted over time in losing major feuds and failing to recapture a world title since his snake-bit Universal Championship win. He was still essential to Judgment Day feeling like a threat, though for some time. The picture has changed, though. 2025 saw Dirty Dom really come into his own as Intercontinental Champion, AAA Mega Champion, and the man to pin John Cena in his final PLE match. Moreover, between Liv Morgan as the group’s top female star and Roxanne Perez and Raquel Rodriguez each coming along nicely as serious threats in the women’s division, the group doesn’t feel short of star power.

So it becomes time for Balor to fill a very different Judgment Day role than he has for over three and half years. Rather than the bedrock solid hand and stable character, he may actually carry more value now as the group’s next major nemesis after he parts ways with it.

    Finn Balor Has Crowd Support

To close out 2025, Finn Balor cut a promo in which he discussed refocusing and bringing singles gold back to Judgment Day. His words got a warm response, the message clear that WWE fans are ready to see him in a featured role again after spending so much of the last two-years-plus out of the spotlight.

Add onto that, despite playing the heel quite well, Balor is an excellent in-ring worker whose aerial offense and look make him naturally appealing to fans. He’s an Internet darling who honed his craft pre-WWE and someone fans want to see succeed.

Add up all the factors, and a path forward became clear when Balor challenged CM Punk to a match in Ireland. It feels unlikely Balor will be the one to unseat Punk for the World Heavyweight Championship. With a groundswell of home country support, though, and every possibility of a banger of a match, Balor will more likely than not emerge from this match feeling an awful lot like a hero.

If there’s one thing WWE has consistently done well with Judgment Day, it\’s demonstrating patience in allowing twists and turns to unfold. Don’t expect Finn Balor to full-on turn babyface in the next week. Do, however, keep an eye out for WWE to plant those seeds that may well blossom by WrestleMania as the original Universal Champion enters the next chapter of his WWE career.

  • WWE Raw: CM Punk vs Finn Balor Next Week on Belfast Raw

CM Punk has a new challenger for his WWE World Heavyweight Championship, and the match will take place in his opponent\’s backyard.

During Monday\’s live daytime episode of WWE Raw from Dusseldorf, Germany on Netflix, Punk addressed his championship status and the road to WrestleMania. After successfully defending his title against Bron Breakker last week, Punk declared himself ready to face all challengers at upcoming premium live events.

Finn Balor interrupted the champion\’s promo, making it clear he wasn\’t waiting for Royal Rumble or Elimination Chamber. Balor challenged Punk to a match next week at The SSE Arena in Belfast, Northern Ireland. The match marks the first-ever televised WWE event from Northern Ireland.

Punk initially offered to fight immediately in Germany, but Balor insisted on the Belfast setting, citing \”home field advantage\” similar to what Punk enjoys in Chicago. Before accepting, Punk questioned whether he\’d face Balor one-on-one or the entire Judgment Day faction, referencing his recent battles with The Vision. Balor assured him it would be \”The Best in the World\” versus \”The Prince\” in a straight singles match.

Punk accepted the challenge, apologizing to the Dusseldorf crowd for not competing that night, then promising to apologize to Belfast fans next week \”after defeating Balor with the GTS.\”

The championship match is scheduled for Monday, January 19, 2026 on WWE Raw.

  • Finn Balor Reveals How John Cena\’s Behavior Deceived Him On WWE Debut

Finn Balor has shared his experience with John Cena as locker room leader.

The Judgment Day star spoke to The Sun for an interview before the upcoming Saturday Night\’s Main Event, where the Cenation Leader will be competing in his final match.

The former Universal Champion mentioned how he had a lot of wrestling experience but no experience in a locker room like WWE when he first debuted on the main roster in 2016. He recalled his first experience with John Cena upon his arrival, and noted how the 17-time world champion was a leader who led by example:

\”I get brought in like 2016, John was at the top and he\’s kind of like the leader in the locker room and backstage. He leads by example and not fear and threats.

He was just a really, really good leader that everyone looked up to and respected and admired for his work ethic. He was really, really easy to deal with, and I thought, wow, these WWE guys are really, really professional. I can\’t believe it\’s so easy.\”

    I Was Wrong: Finn Balor

Finn Balor, who made his wrestling debut in 2001, had long stints with NWA and NJPW before his WWE signing in 2014. After a successful NXT run, he made his main roster debut as part of the Raw brand in July 2016. Balor won a fatal four-way and later defeated Roman Reigns clean on his first night on the brand.

The former Prince Devitt mentioned that he had heard horror stories about backstage politics in WWE. As a new guy, he wondered if he\’d be seen as a threat by established talents. His dealings with the Hollywood star made him feel like the stories were wrong, but he soon realized why John Cena commanded the respect in the locker room like no one else:

\”[I thought], \’Things have really changed.\’ I was wrong. That only applies to John. There\’s only one John Cena. There\’s only one 17-time champion, future Hall of Famer. But no one commands the respect [he does], but gives the respect that he gives at the same time.

I guess I naively thought all WWE superstars were going to be like that and fast-forward 10-11 years, I\’ve discovered that that\’s not the case and it\’s made me even more grateful for how John treated me when I entered WWE and for that, I\’ll always be grateful.\”

John Cena has confirmed that his match with Gunther will be the final match of Saturday Night\’s Main Event tonight. Becky Lynch also shared how a brief exchange with Cena changed her perspective on the business. You can check out what Cena said while reflecting on his career before retirement here.
