Former WWE Champion Possibly Returning On SmackDown Tonight

Former WWE Champion Drew McIntyre is possibly returning to WWE programming ending his hiatus.

‘The Scottish Warrior’ has been advertised for tonight’s edition of SmackDown in Lexington, KY, according to promotional material on WWE.com.

McIntyre is also prominently featured on promotional material for the May 29 edition of SmackDown in Barcelona, Spain. That show serves as WWE’s final stop before the Clash in Italy premium live event on May 31 at Inalpi Arena in Turin.

    What’s Next For Drew McIntyre

McIntyre’s last WWE appearance came at WrestleMania 42, where he competed in an unsanctioned match against Jacob Fatu.

WWE’s use of McIntyre in advertising for upcoming international SmackDown events has naturally sparked speculation that he could return in time for the Italy premium live event weekend. Jacob Fatu is currently set to face Roman Reigns for the World Heavyweight Championship at Clash in Italy later this month.

For now, WWE has not officially confirmed McIntyre’s return. As always with WWE promotional material, appearances remain subject to change.

Drew McIntyre WWE Return Timeline Revealed

Drew McIntyre is likely to return soon.

‘The Scottish Warrior’ has been advertised to return to WWE programming on the May 29 episode of SmackDown in Barcelona, Spain at Olympic Arena. The former WWE Champion has been absent from television for several weeks following WrestleMania 42.

According to WWE’s official event listing, McIntyre is scheduled to appear on the international SmackDown taping. The company has not yet confirmed what role he will play on the show or whether he will be involved in an active storyline.

McIntyre’s last WWE appearance came at WrestleMania 42, where he competed in an unsanctioned match against Jacob Fatu. The violent bout effectively wrote him off television programming.

Reports have indicated that McIntyre’s absence was not due to injury or storyline issues. Instead, the Scottish wrestler was reportedly overseas completing filming commitments for the Highlander reboot, an Amazon MGM Studios project directed by Chad Stahelski and starring Henry Cavill.

McIntyre is said to be playing Angus MacLeod in the film, though official casting announcements have not been widely confirmed through major entertainment trade publications.

  • Drew McIntyre: I Don’t Hate CM Punk, I Just Thinks He’s ‘Trash’

Drew McIntyre: I Don’t Hate CM Punk, I Just Thinks He’s ‘Trash’

Drew McIntyre isn’t backing down from his issues with CM Punk, but he is drawing a line on one thing. The Scottish Warrior says he doesn’t actually hate the man, even if their animosity remains very real.

Speaking on the Bobbycast Podcast, the multi-time World Champion addressed the ongoing tension with Punk and made his position clear.

While the bad blood is genuine, he framed it as a matter of opinion, rather than emotion.

“I just don’t have anyone I genuinely don’t like. I don’t have time for hate in my life. I don’t really hate him—I think he’s a piece of crap,” McIntyre said. “I don’t have time for haters. So I don’t really hate Punk—I just think he’s a piece of trash.”

McIntyre Previously Compared Punk to Charles Manson

The comments mark a shift in tone from what McIntyre was saying just months earlier. During a June 2024 interview on Guerilla Position: Beyond the Ring, he went much further in describing Punk’s connection with the WWE Universe.

“He has a Charles Manson-like quality. The way he’s just able to convince people to do his bidding and love him,” McIntyre said at the time.

He also compared Punk’s influence to that of dictators, expressing frustration that even Scottish crowds cheered for Punk during their feud.

“They cheer Punk the other night… that kind of hurt. Even in Scotland. It just has that weird thing that certain people in history have. Dictators and the likes,” he added.

The Rivalry Was Real in 2024

McIntyre has consistently maintained that what fans saw between him and Punk in 2024 wasn’t just storyline. He described their rivalry as the result of two talented performers who genuinely don’t like each other.

“The result of a couple of people that are really good at their job who genuinely don’t like each other… was what you saw in 2024,” McIntyre stated.

With these latest comments, McIntyre isn’t softening his stance on Punk. He’s simply redefining it, making clear that while he may not “hate” his rival, the tension between them hasn’t gone anywhere.

  • Drew McIntyre Filming ‘Highlander’ Reboot Without Missing WWE Dates

Drew McIntyre Filming ‘Highlander’ Reboot Without Missing WWE Dates

Drew McIntyre has been making regular trips to Scotland to film a role in the Highlander reboot, and according to a new report, the project has not cost him a single day of WWE obligations.

Per Mike Johnson of PWInsider, McIntyre’s team worked out a filming schedule to avoid any conflicts with his WWE dates or production commitments. Principal photography on the Amazon MGM Studios production began on January 28, 2026, in Scotland.

McIntyre is playing Angus MacLeod, the brother of Henry Cavill’s character Connor MacLeod, in the film directed by Chad Stahelski. The cast also includes Dave Bautista as the villain Kurgan, alongside Russell Crowe, Karen Gillan, Marisa Abela, Djimon Hounsou, and Max Zhang.

The Highlander reboot had been in development for years before finally moving into production. Filming was originally set to begin in late 2025, but was pushed back after Cavill sustained an injury during pre-production rehearsals.

The project marks McIntyre’s second major acting credit alongside Bautista, following his feature film debut in The Killer’s Game. McIntyre has previously credited Bautista with helping guide him through that early Hollywood experience, describing the mentorship as invaluable.

McIntyre is scheduled to compete at WrestleMania 42 on April 18 at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, where he faces Jacob Fatu in an Unsanctioned Match on Night One.

  • Drew McIntyre Takes Brutal Shot At Jacob Fatu Before SmackDown

Drew McIntyre Takes Brutal Shot At Jacob Fatu Before SmackDown

Former WWE Champion Drew McIntyre recently took a shot at his rival Jacob Fatu ahead of SmackDown.

‘The Scottish Warrior’ dropped a video message from San Jose that included a jab at his WrestleMania opponent. McIntyre addressed fans gathered outside in the rain before the show.

He quickly shifted his attention to Fatu and claimed ‘The Samoan Werewolf’ couldn’t appear in his own hometown due to community service obligations, referencing his past legal issues.

    McIntyre said:

“How are we all? Wow. What are you out here? Thank you for waiting in the rain. I know it’s pretty cold. I never thought California rain, so I’m a little bit disappointed. I appreciate you all coming out. San Jose is my town. You know, Jacob’s from here, but, you know, he’s got community service, so he can’t show up. You tell us for the people. So I will see you all.”

Drew McIntyre and Jacob Fatu To Clash At WrestleMania 42

The two powerhouse wrestlers are scheduled to face off at WrestleMania 42 in an unsanctioned match. The stipulation means no disqualifications or count-outs when they meet in the ring.

McIntyre’s latest comments add more fuel to a rivalry that continues to escalate as WrestleMania approaches. The verbal shots show no signs of slowing down before the two finally collide.

  • Drew McIntyre Says WWE Title Win Gave Him Legitimacy

Drew McIntyre Says WWE Title Win Gave Him Legitimacy

Drew McIntyre believes his Undisputed WWE Championship win over Cody Rhodes in January gave him the legitimacy he needed while simultaneously helping Rhodes regain his competitive edge. McIntyre defeated Rhodes on the January 9, 2026, episode of WWE SmackDown in a shocking upset that few saw coming.

Speaking to Chris Van Vliet on Insight, McIntyre reflected on what the title reign meant for both superstars. His reign lasted just under two months before Rhodes recaptured the championship on the March 6, 2026, episode of SmackDown in Portland, Oregon.

    McIntyre on Shaking Up SmackDown

“Nobody saw it coming, for one. I think everybody assumed that the Cody Express would keep moving on forward,” McIntyre said. “After he finished the story, he was on fire. I’m not saying he wasn’t doing a great job. He’s a great champion, he’s a great performer, but it was a lot of the same.”

McIntyre explained that the title change put Rhodes in a chase position, which gave the current champion back some of his edge. “It put Cody in a position where he had to chase. Gave Cody a bit of that edge back, which he, in my opinion, desperately needed,” he stated.

    Legitimacy and the Gollum Approach

“For me, it gave me some of that legitimacy. ‘Oh yeah, Drew can win the big one,’ and not going to be so sympathetic that we need to start cheering for this guy if you feel so bad for him,” McIntyre continued. He described his approach to defending the title as possessive, comparing himself to Gollum from Lord of the Rings.

“I’m Gollum from Lord of the Rings. This is my precious. I’m not letting this go, no matter what,” he said. McIntyre noted that his heel persona as champion made SmackDown more compelling, with multiple challengers targeting him not just for the title but because of his attitude.

    Celebrating in Glasgow

McIntyre won the championship in Berlin and celebrated the following night in Glasgow with his family in attendance.

“I tell Scotland, I promised you would bring you the championship, and I brought you the championship, and the only ever, not just Scotland person to do it, but British person to do it,” he said.

McIntyre faces Jacob Fatu in an unsanctioned match at WrestleMania 42, while Rhodes defends the Undisputed WWE Championship against Randy Orton at the same event.

  • Drew McIntyre Ready For Match With ‘Corporate Stooge’ Nick Aldis

Drew McIntyre Ready For Match With ‘Corporate Stooge’ Nick Aldis

Drew McIntyre is open to wrestling Nick Aldis.

The two WWE names have been involved in a heated rivalry for months now, and there have been multiple moments where they came very close to exchanging blows. Some fans even speculated that the SmackDown General Manager could be returning to the ring to face the former World Champion at WrestleMania when he booked The Scottish Warrior in the WWE Championship match against Cody Rhodes after Elimination Chamber.

While the story has since pivoted towards a WrestleMania encounter between McIntyre and Jacob Fatu, fans are still hopeful about getting the Aldis match somewhere down the line. During a recent interview with Chris Van Vliet, Drew McIntyre was also asked about a potential future bout with Nick Aldis. The former WWE Champion suggested that he is open to the possibility, noting how the fans are always invested whenever the two of them share the screen:

“Every time we go back and forth, you can feel the tension. You can cut it with a knife. We’ve known each other a long time. I name-dropped his son because I have known him for that long. But what a corporate stooge he is, his Donovan must be ashamed of him having such a corporate stooge for a father instead of backing me, the one who’s in the right and the one that he’s known for years, and his one is his actual friend. So when the time is right, be it Mania, be after Mania. I think we should have a match.”

Drew McIntyre later praised Nick Aldis for his accomplishments outside of WWE, saying that he is probably the greatest NWA Champion of the modern era. The SmackDown star also said that he would like the match between the two to be free of any interference and claimed that he would love to see what damage Aldis can do in a real match.

  • Big Unsanctioned Match And More Added To WrestleMania 42

Big Unsanctioned Match And More Added To WrestleMania 42

New matches have been added to WrestleMania.

Tonight’s episode of SmackDown saw Sami Zayn answering the US title open challenge after being told that there was no place for him on the PPV card. The Ultimate Underdog ended up defeating Carmelo Hayes for the belt with some unexpected help from Trick Williams. Nick Aldis informed Zayn afterwards that he will now be defending the title against Hollywood Trick at the Show of Shows.

The show also featured a confrontation between Drew McIntyre and Jacob Fatu, after the two brawled through the arena on last week’s episode of the Blue Brand. The SmackDown GM intervened before the two meaty men could get physical again. Aldis informed them that they will get the chance to beat each other up to their satisfaction in an Unsanctioned match at WrestleMania 42.

WWE WrestleMania 42 Updated Match Card

The Show of Shows will be returning to Allegiant Stadium in Paradise, Nevada, this year on April 18–19, 2026. Below is the updated match card for the show:

    • Women’s World Championship Match: Stephanie Vaquer (c) vs. Liv Morgan
    • WWE Women’s Championship Match: Jade Cargill (c) vs. Rhea Ripley
    • Singles Match: Oba Femi vs. Brock Lesnar
    • Women’s Intercontinental Championship Match: AJ Lee (c) vs. Becky Lynch
    • United States Championship Match: Sami Zayn (c) vs. Trick Williams
    • Unsanctioned Match: Drew McIntyre vs. Jacob Fatu
    • World Heavyweight Championship Match: CM Punk (c) vs. Roman Reigns
    • Undisputed WWE Championship Match: Cody Rhodes (c) vs. Randy Orton
  • Drew McIntyre Quits WWE on SmackDown

Drew McIntyre Quits WWE on SmackDown

Drew McIntyre “quit” WWE on the March 13, 2026, episode of SmackDown after a confrontation with SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis and Jacob Fatu.

The segment opened SmackDown with McIntyre still upset about losing the Undisputed WWE Championship to Cody Rhodes on the March 6, 2026, episode of SmackDown. During that title match, McIntyre assaulted referees, and Jacob Fatu interfered to stop McIntyre from using a chair.

McIntyre demanded answers. Aldis reminded him that his own actions led to the situation, referencing McIntyre’s interference in Cody Rhodes’ matches.

Jacob Fatu then confronted McIntyre, questioning his plans after failing to regain the WWE Championship. McIntyre’s response was a simple, “I quit.”

Cody Rhodes is now scheduled to defend the Undisputed WWE Championship against Randy Orton at WrestleMania 42.

  • Cody Rhodes Wins Back WWE Championship On SmackDown

Cody Rhodes is WWE Champion again.

Nick Aldis had awarded the American Nightmare an opportunity to win back the WWE title after Drew McIntyre cost him the Elimination Chamber match.

The ending of the bout that main evented this week\’s SmackDown saw the referee going down after McIntyre pulled him into a disaster kick by Rhodes. Cody was then able to deliver the Cross-Rhodes to the WWE Champion but he couldn\’t get the pin with the official down.

Rhodes called for another ref, and Dan Engler came out. Cody ended up eating a Claymore from Drew as he turned around, but McIntyre too was unable to secure the pin. Being frustrated with Engler, the Scottish Psychopath took him out with a headbutt.

Drew McIntyre tried to use the opportunity to take out his opponent with a chair, but Jacob Fatu appeared out of nowhere to stop him. Cody Rhodes was then able to deliver a Cutter and a Cross Rhodes to the champion, and he got the pin as the first referee recovered.

Tonight\’s development means that the Elimination Chamber winner Randy Orton will now face his former protege at WrestleMania 42. McIntyre on the other hand is likely to go after Jacob Fatu for his loss.

  • Drew McIntyre vs. Cody Rhodes WWE Title Match Announced After Elimination Chamber

Cody Rhodes is getting his title shot after all.

The Men\’s Elimination Chamber match that main evented tonight\’s PPV was full of chaos. Logan Paul first got three eliminations in the bout, pinning Je\’Von Evans, LA Knight, and Trick Williams.

The YouTube star himself was then eliminated by Cody Rhodes; however, thanks to a returning Seth Rollins, who stomped Paul before revealing his identity.

Drew McIntyre then showed up once again to stop Cody from winning the match. Despite eating an RKO and Cross Rhodes, the WWE Champion seemed to have gotten his wish as Randy won the match after pinning his former protege.

Though Nick Aldis had different plans, as he made an appearance on the Elimination Chamber post-show. Not being happy with Drew\’s actions, the SmackDown General Manager announced that Cody will get his title shot at the next episode of the show:

\”Drew, you seem to be so hell-bent on preventing Cody Rhodes to get another shot at you. Well, guess what? This Friday night, on SmackDown, it is Drew McIntyre vs. Cody Rhodes for the WWE Championship and that\’s all I have to say about it.\”

The Scottish Psychopath came out to confront Aldis after this but the match was made. McIntyre was then escorted out by the security.

  • Randy Orton Wins Men\’s Elimination Chamber

Randy Orton is going to WrestleMania.

Tonight\’s Elimination Chamber PPV featured a number of surprises, including Seth Rollins making his return to the company to take out Logan Paul in the cage match.

Paul had eliminated Trick Williams, Je\’Von Evans, and LA Knight before his own elimination. So Cody Rhodes and Randy Orton were the only two left in the match after Rollins\’ appearance.

Drew McIntyre then showed up once again to try and stop the American Nightmare from winning the bout. This time, Cody was able to get the upper hand with help from The Viper.

Orton delivered an RKO to McIntyre, followed by a Cross Rhodes from Cody. Just as Rhodes was recovering from the move, however, Randy delivered an RKO to his former protégé as well, pinning the AEW co-founder for the win.

The victory earns Randy Orton a match against Drew at WrestleMania 42, leaving the future of Cody in question. There have been some rumblings of the title match potentially being turned into a triple threat, and we will have to see if Rhodes is able to find his way back into the title picture somehow before the show of shows.

  • Cody Rhodes\’ Scouting Report on Drew McIntyre: \’That\’s All I Need\’

Former Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes has been doing his scouting work on Drew McIntyre, and he recently said that he\’s already found the edge on \’The Scottish Warrior.\’ Appearing on ESPN\’s Unsportsmanlike, Rhodes gave a thorough breakdown of his rival, with equal parts respect and psychological confidence.

    \”Drew\’s 6\’5\”, 280. He\’s a wrestler\’s wrestler — real heavyweight wrestling,\” Rhodes said. \”He is the definition of a main event every night anywhere.\”

High praise but Rhodes wasn\’t done. He pointed to what he sees as McIntyre\’s greatest liability: a focus on his social media character that Rhodes believes gives away mental real estate.

\”Drew put out a post recently that said, \’The Rock wants Cody\’s soul, but I want his ass.\’ And I feel like — just that. That\’s all I need right there. I\’m good,\” Rhodes said. \”His focus on the social media aspect of his character, I feel like puts me at an advantage.\”

    Focus Is the Differentiator

In contrast to McIntyre\’s outward approach, Cody Rhodes described his own mindset in simple terms. He lives and breathes WWE. He doesn\’t need external motivation.

\”I just focus on this. I live and breathe WWE. It\’s my favorite thing. I get to be the champ. I\’m honored by that,\” he said.

Rhodes further acknowledged that both men share a similar origin story as both left WWE, both built themselves up elsewhere, and both came back as bigger stars for it. That parallel isn\’t lost on him.

He closed with what may have been the sharpest line of the whole conversation:

    \”I also think he\’s a cat guy and I\’m a dog guy.\”

Last month, Drew McIntyre dethroned Cody Rhodes to capture the Undisputed WWE title in a Three Stages of Hell Match at SmackDown in Berlin. \’The American Nightmare\’ is gearing up to win the Men\’s Elimination Chamber match which takes place on February 28th.

  • Drew McIntyre: \”I\’m the Last Good Guy in WWE\”

Drew McIntyre has a message for the fans who stopped believing in him during 2025 — and it isn\’t a warm one.

Speaking with Shakiel Mahjouri on SHAK Wrestling at the WWE 2K26 hands-on event, the Undisputed WWE Champion reflected on the low points of his journey and drew a sharp line between those who stuck with him and those who bailed.

\”Thank you for keeping the faith. A lot of people checked out — and wonder why I say I don\’t want your cheers? Y\’all stopped believing. Y\’all moved on. Especially in 2025 when things weren\’t looking too good after such a banger year in 2024. People were like, \’Oh, Drew\’s just never going to win the big one. I guess I\’m going to move on.\’ I don\’t forget.\”

The Championship Mentality: No Days Off

For McIntyre, wavering even for a single day wasn\’t an option. He broke down the math of competing on a roster full of title-hungry performers.

\”You take one day and you lose focus. You get one day you stop believing in yourself, you stop working hard — everyone else on the roster wants this title. So I was never going to stop till I got it.\”

That mentality kept McIntyre from falling into a trap he\’s watched swallow other careers — the \”talented bridesmaid\” role that becomes a permanent identity.

\”I\’ve seen superstars historically get pigeonholed in a certain place — it\’s a great place, amazing to be in WWE elevating everybody around you, the very talented bridesmaid — but no, not for McIntyre. I know what I\’m capable of. I know what I offer. I know the reactions I get before I even say a word when I walk down the street.\”

Correcting the Record on Jacob Fatu

McIntyre also pushed back on the narrative that Jacob Fatu\’s interference at Crown Jewel was somehow responsible for him winning the title. Fatu himself had suggested Drew was \”halfway out the door\” before he arrived — and McIntyre won\’t let that framing stand.

\”A few people were saying, \’Oh, it\’s because of Jacob.\’ I never said this — Jacob said this. Drew was halfway out the door. He said it to Cody when I got there. I didn\’t just overcome Cody Rhodes. I overcame Cody Rhodes and Jacob Fatu to win this title.\”

\’The Last Good Guy in WWE\’

Finally, McIntyre addressed his unusual position in a WWE landscape where clear babyfaces are rare. His argument: he isn\’t the bad guy, and he can prove it.

\”I\’m not the bad guy. I\’m the last good guy in WWE. And if you try to argue with me, debate me, you\’ll lose. I explain why I\’m the way I am, what\’s happened to me, the PTSD I\’ve suffered. Would you not do the same thing? And every single person: yes. The last good guy.\”

McIntyre spent much of 2025 as the most combustible presence on SmackDown, a year of near-misses and simmering frustration that ultimately produced one of the more emotionally satisfying title wins in recent memory. Whether fans accept his \”last good guy\” label or not, he\’s the one holding the title.

  • Drew McIntyre Roasts CM Punk\’s WWE 2K26 Cover: \’What is this, Junkie Hero?\’

Drew McIntyre showed up to the WWE 2K26 Creator Fest at WWE Headquarters in full champion mode — and he had plenty to say about his title reign, the Punk/Reigns Raw segment, and the fact that CM Punk\’s face is plastered all over the building.

On finally living his championship dream, McIntyre was equal parts self-deprecating and self-assured:

\”Everyone assumed Cody was going to win because Cody always wins and Drew always gets screwed. It was a shock for a lot of people — except this guy. Not only did I overcome Cody, I overcame Cody and Jacob in the same night. What an underdog story. I\’m the biggest underdog in the land.\”

McIntyre has been on a roll since his Three Stages of Hell win and Royal Rumble title defense against Sami Zayn, but the champion was quick to acknowledge the target on his back, noting that even at the Creator Fest event, people were eyeing him up like they were ready to jump him.

    \’I Ain\’t a Bad Guy, Ain\’t a Good Guy. I\’m a Real Guy.\’

When asked about the Roman Reigns and CM Punk segment on Raw — where both men took shots at McIntyre while he wasn\’t there to respond — Drew wasn\’t bothered by the personal jabs. What actually got under his skin was the suggestion that SmackDown and his title were somehow secondary.

\”One of them would try and say something bad about me, spin the narrative. And the other one would just tell the truth. Like Punk would run his mouth. Roman would say, \’Drew\’s four times bigger than you, had you crying over a plastic bracelet.\’ Roman would run his mouth — \’I beat Drew for three years straight.\’ Yeah, you and your whole family.

It was trying to make this title feel lesser than, make SmackDown feel lesser than. That\’s what bothered me. This is the number one title. The guys that have held this title, including you guys, made it what it is. And as for SmackDown — it lit a fire under me. I said to the roster, you better stand up and be as angry as I am and start giving 150%.\”

Roman Reigns chose CM Punk as his WrestleMania 42 opponent, dismissing McIntyre as the \”easy choice\” — something Drew clearly hasn\’t forgotten.

    The WWE 2K26 Cover Rant

Then came the bit. Walking around WWE HQ and seeing Punk\’s face on WWE 2K26 promotional materials everywhere, McIntyre went full comedic heel:

\”I see Punk\’s stupid mug everywhere around here and I\’m thinking to myself, my god — these poor kids are going to buy that video game, their mother sees it and goes, \’What in earth is this junkie hero? The main character is a junkie. You\’re not buying that game, young man.\’

You put my face on there, they\’re going to go, \’Yes, I have to buy this for my kid. I want my kid to grow up to be like this man. Tall, jacked, handsome, educated.\’ Punk barely went to school.\”

As for WrestleMania 42, Drew kept his cards close:

\”I wouldn\’t speak too soon. Still a few weeks till then — but yes, I intend to head into WrestleMania as champion. And it feels right.\”

  • Cody Rhodes Wins Chaotic Elimination Chamber Qualifier On SmackDown

Cody Rhodes will be entering the Elimination Chamber.

The main event of this week\’s SmackDown featured a triple threat qualifier match among Cody Rhodes, Sami Zayn, and Jacob Fatu. WWE Champion Drew McIntyre made an appearance towards the ending of the bout, attacking Fatu when the Samoan Werewolf looked to have the match won.

The Scottish Warrior sent Fatu crashing into the announce table, effectively taking him out of the match. McIntyre then focused his attention on Cody, delivering a big Claymore to Rhodes and then putting the lifeless body of Sami Zayn into the pinning position.

The referee, however, was out of the ring checking on Jacob Fatu, and the few seconds\’ delay in the pin allowed the American Nightmare to kick out. A frustrated McIntyre entered the ring again to beat the former Undisputed Champion some more.

Though Sami had recovered by this time and he ended up delivering a Helluva kick to McIntyre. In the end, Cody Rhodes took advantage of this chaos and he finally hit Zayn with a Cross Rhodes for the victory.

The former AEW star will be joining Randy Orton and LA Knight in the upcoming Chamber match, with 3 more spots left to be filled after tonight. WWE has announced another qualifier among Trick Williams, Damain Priest and Carmelo Hayes for next week.

  • Drew McIntyre Spotted Filming at WWE HQ

Drew McIntyre, WWE\’s reigning Undisputed champion, was recently seen at being filmed at WWE headquarters in Stamford, Connecticut.

According to PWInsider, McIntyre was at the company\’s main offices, potentially preparing new content following his recent high-profile championship victories. He\’s racked up a string of impressive wins, including the dramatic Three Stages of Hell Match to reclaim the Undisputed WWE Championship, and his successful title defense against Sami Zayn at Royal Rumble.

McIntyre has his hands full, as the champion typically does. He\’s still making Cody Rhodes\’ life hell, including a screwjob elimination of the American Nightmare at the Royal Rumble. Cody will confront McIntyre this Friday on SmackDown.

Aside from Cody Rhodes, who wants his title back, McIntyre\’s other enemy, CM Punk, actually wants him to hold on to the gold (for selfish reasons):

  • CM Punk Wants Drew McIntyre to Keep WWE Title

CM Punk hasn\’t been shy about his hatred for Drew McIntyre, but the World Heavyweight Champion made a surprising admission during the No Contest Wrestling podcast: he\’s actually rooting for Drew to keep the Undisputed WWE Championship.

\”I hope he loses the title because that\’ll be painful for him,\” Punk said. \”But there\’s also part of me that\’s just like, man, if he holds on to it, if he can hold on to it until our next Crown Jewel event and then it\’s me and Drew, I would love nothing more than pinning him again.\”

Getting a Kick Out of Torturing Drew

When asked directly if he enjoys tormenting McIntyre, Punk didn\’t hesitate. The hosts noted that as soon as Drew won the WWE title, it seemed the World Heavyweight Championship shifted to being perceived as the number one title in the company.

\”I love Cody. I wish he was still champ,\” Punk said with a laugh. \”I wish he won the Royal Rumble. He could have picked me. He could have had an all-time WrestleMania match.\”

Despite the ongoing animosity, Punk acknowledged McIntyre\’s abilities. \”You have to appreciate Drew McIntyre, right? He can\’t win,\” Punk said, referring to Drew\’s inability to get one over on him.

With Roman Reigns set to challenge Punk for the World Heavyweight Championship at WrestleMania 42, the question remains whether Drew McIntyre will still be champion by the time Crown Jewel rolls around for Punk\’s dream rematch.

  • Drew McIntyre Retains WWE Title Over Sami Zayn at Royal Rumble

Drew McIntyre retained the Undisputed WWE Championship against Sami Zayn at WWE Royal Rumble on January 31, 2026 in Saudi Arabia.

McIntyre improved to 12-0 against Zayn in singles competition, securing the victory with two devastating Claymore Kicks. This marked McIntyre\’s first successful title defense since winning the championship on January 9.

Zayn earned the title opportunity by winning a four-way match against Randy Orton, Trick Williams, and Damian Priest at WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event. The challenger entered the event undefeated in Saudi Arabia, but McIntyre shattered that streak.

    McIntyre\’s Dominant Championship Reign Continues

The Scottish Warrior has now defended the gold against one of WWE\’s most resilient competitors. Tribal Wrestling confirmed the result on X, posting \”DREW MCINTYRE RETAINS THE UNDISPUTED WWE CHAMPIONSHIP AGAINST SAMI Zayn.\”

McIntyre\’s undefeated record against Zayn dates back years, showcasing his consistent dominance in their one-on-one encounters. Fans watched the match live from Saudi Arabia as part of the Royal Rumble premium live event.

With the title secure, McIntyre sets his sights on future challengers. Zayn\’s loss ends his perfect Saudi Arabia run, but his path to contention remains strong after the Main Event victory.

  • Drew McIntyre\’s Final Warning to Sami Zayn Before Royal Rumble

Drew McIntyre dropped a chilling video promo on Twitter ahead of WWE Royal Rumble 2026, delivering a cold message to challenger Sami Zayn and referencing Cody Rhodes.

The Undisputed WWE Champion faces Zayn for the title later today in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. McIntyre mocked Zayn\’s underdog narrative while boasting an undefeated 11-0 record against him.

    McIntyre posted on X:

\”So tonight, Sami, it\’s a lesson. So listen to everybody, including your son. No matter how hard you work or how much you believe, for some people this is as good as it gets. So enjoy the moment. Take it all in. Because this is the last chance you\’re ever gonna get a shot at my title.\”

The Scottish Warrior also took a shot at Rhodes, echoing the champion\’s recent comments about not being a role model.

McIntyre has dominated Zayn in past encounters, holding a perfect 11-0 record. Fans in Riyadh will see if Zayn can finally overcome the odds and dethrone the powerhouse champion at Royal Rumble.

  • Sami Zayn vs. Drew McIntyre Set For Royal Rumble 2026

    Sami Zayn has done it.

Tonight\’s Saturday Night\’s Main Event from Bell Centre in Montreal, Canada, saw a big fatal four-way between Zayn, Randy Orton, Damian Priest, and Trick Williams for a shot at the WWE Championship.

Williams was the one with the least experience in the ring, but he made up for it with his IQ and he came close to winning the bout on multiple occasions.

In the end, however, it was Zayn who picked up the victory. He delivered a Helluva Kick to Priest right after the latter took out Trick. Sami then secured the victory as Orton failed to get in the ring in time to break the pin.

The Ultimate Underdog will not have to wait long to get his title shot as the match with Drew McIntyre is set to take place next Saturday, January 31, at the Royal Rumble PPV.

The crowd in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, would certainly be in the corner of Sami Zayn for this match, and the big question is if the Canadian star will finally be able to end the long pursuit of his first world title at the PLE.

  • Drew McIntyre Says A Fan Tried To Attack Him For Beating Cody Rhodes

Drew McIntyre met a passionate fan.

The Scottish Psychopath picked up a surprising victory over Cody Rhodes during the January 9 episode of SmackDown. He defeated the American Nightmare in a Three Stages of Hell match to become the new Undisputed WWE Champion.

During a recent interview with Inside The Ring, the new champion was asked about the reactions he has seen to his victory. Answering the question, Drew McIntyre detailed a recent incident where a fan tried to attack him because of his win over Rhodes:

“Somebody won a raffle to meet a superstar backstage and they asked me to do. I said, ‘Are you sure? Cody is on the show.’ He’s the big good guy, I’m kind of controversial in the middle guy. ‘No, no, no, everyone wants to see you.’ The guy came back and lunged at me saying, ‘That’s Cody’s title.’ Swung at me. Security had to get between us.\”

    It Was Great: Drew McIntyre

Though Drew McIntyre claimed that he was then able to calm the person down enough to get him a picture with the championship belt. The WWE star also suggested that he was not put off by this incident, proclaiming that he wants more fans like these who are passionate:

\”I calmed him down. We got a picture together, a picture with the title. He was genuinely upset. It was great. Because I knew he was legitimately upset, as soon as we took the picture, he started mouthing off again, so I stepped back, moved the security guard between us, raised the title, laughed, and ran off like a child,”

The new WWE Champion is set to defend his title at next Saturday\’s Royal Rumble event. You can check out how his challenger will be determined here.

  • WWE Made Major Changes To WrestleMania 42 Plans Recently (Report)

WWE has shaken up the plans for WrestleMania 42.

The company had teased a rematch between Cody Rhodes and Roman Reigns at Survivor Series: WarGames this past November. The fans were left surprised, however, when Drew McIntyre ended up beating Rhodes for the WWE title on SmackDown this past week.

Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer provided an update on how this affects the standings for the Show of Shows. He claimed that the officials made some big changes recently. They revamped the plans for the Las Vegas PPV this past Wednesday, when they decided on the SmackDown title change.

The wrestling journalist could not provide solid details on the whole matter, but he suggested that the match between The American Nightmare and The Tribal Chief is unlikely now. As for the direction for Rhodes and the title, he speculated that we could see a triple threat between Cody, Drew, and Jacob Fatu in the coming times.

The Samoan Werewolf had been slated for a #1 contender\’s match for the WWE title before being written off TV last October. So it seems likely that he will be included in the title picture moving forward, especially after attacking both Cody and Drew upon his return last week.

Since the World Heavyweight title picture also looks to be locked with the story between CM Punk and Bron Breakker, the big question is where this leaves Roman Reigns.

  • Drew McIntyre’s Emotional Glasgow WWE Title Speech

Drew McIntyre delivered an emotional speech to his hometown crowd at Glasgow\’s OVO Hydro on Saturday night, one day after capturing the Undisputed WWE Championship and finally fulfilling his longstanding promise to bring the title to Scotland in front of live fans.

The 40-year-old Ayr native defeated Cody Rhodes in a Three Stages of Hell match on Friday Night SmackDown to win the championship for the third time. In his first appearance as champion, McIntyre successfully defended the title against Shinsuke Nakamura at the non-televised WWE Live event in Glasgow.

    The Journey to Redemption

McIntyre\’s championship victory marks the culmination of years of determination following multiple setbacks. His first two WWE Championship reigns in 2020 and 2021 occurred during the COVID-19 pandemic, largely in empty arenas, denying him the chance to celebrate with fans.

\”The first time I won the WWE Championship, unfortunately the world had to go shut down on us, didn\’t it?\” McIntyre told the Glasgow crowd. \”I won it twice, and I\’m proud of what we did during that period. We gave people an escape during scary times, but I swore I would get the title back.\”

The Scottish Warrior also reflected on past disappointments, including his devastating loss to Roman Reigns at Clash at the Castle in Cardiff in 2022, where interference from Solo Sikoa crushed his championship dreams.

    A Promise Fulfilled

In his heartfelt address, McIntyre emphasized the significance of finally achieving his goal in front of his people.

\”Last night, you couldn\’t have written it any better. I won the WWE Championship and the very first place I was able to walk out in front of live fans as the number one wrestler on planet Earth was Glasgow, where I can fulfill my promise,\” McIntyre declared.

The champion, who attended Glasgow Caledonian University for four years before signing with WWE 18 years ago, pointed out family members in the audience and paid tribute to his late aunt during the emotional moment.

McIntyre concluded the celebration by leading the arena in a rousing rendition of \”Flower of Scotland,\” dedicating the moment to the Scottish national football team ahead of the 2026 World Cup.

    What\’s Next

With the Undisputed WWE Championship now around his waist, McIntyre\’s reign has already begun with intensity. His rivalry with Cody Rhodes is expected to continue, potentially setting up a rematch at an upcoming premium live event.

The Scottish Superstar\’s championship victory represents not just a personal triumph, but a historic moment for WWE\’s European fanbase, as the company continues to expand its presence in international markets during the current European tour.

  • Drew McIntyre Comments On Potential Chris Jericho Return

Drew McIntyre wants Chris Jericho to do what makes him happy.

While the wrestling community is certain that the former AEW champion is on his way back to WWE, nobody has a clear idea of when or how it will actually happen. Nonetheless, people continue to speculate on what the best way to reintroduce Y2J on WWE programming is, after he did not show up at the January 5 Raw as many hoped.

The Scottish Warrior himself professed to have no idea about what the wrestling veteran is planning when asked by TMZ. All he wants is for his friend to do what makes him happy:

\”Chris Jericho is one of my friends. I spent a lot of my youth with him. He\’s a massive, massive star, and at this point in his life and career, whatever makes him happy makes me happy. He\’s gonna make a huge splash wherever he goes. If it\’s for us, why not?\”

Though Drew McIntyre might have to rethink this sentiment after tonight. The new WWE Champion certainly will be the target of any new or returning name who is looking to make an impact on the SmackDown roster as we head into the WrestleMania season.

Someone like Chris Jericho would most definitely love to add another accolade to his illustrious career upon his homecoming. So the two old friends might find themselves on the opposite end if Jericho does return to the Endeavor-owned promotion
