Current Champion Joins Don Callis Family On AEW Dynamite

The Don Callis Family has added another reigning champion to its ranks. On the June 3 episode of AEW Dynamite, TNT Champion Kevin Knight officially aligned himself with Don Callis, bringing championship gold with him into one of AEW’s most influential factions.

The announcement crystallizes the heel turn Knight began at Double or Nothing, when he betrayed Darby Allin and dissolved his popular JetSpeed partnership with “Speedball” Mike Bailey.

Kevin Knight Aligns With Don Callis Family

The reveal hijacked a segment that initially looked focused on the AEW World Championship picture. Fresh off a dominant win over an enhancement talent, Andrade El Idolo grabbed a microphone and called out AEW World Champion MJF, questioning whether the Salt of the Earth truly believed he could beat him.

Before Andrade could get an answer, Don Callis and Jake Doyle made their way out and changed the direction of the segment entirely. Callis announced that TNT Champion Kevin Knight had officially joined the Don Callis Family.

    Kevin Knight Retains

The reveal was followed by a title defence, with Knight putting his championship up on the line against Mike Bailey. The new partnership started paying dividends immediately as Doyle and Callis ran interference, which allowed Kevin to retain the belt against his former partner.

Having lost the Continental and International Championships over the last few months, the Don Callis Family had been faced with the challenge of relevancy. Adding the TNT Champion to their ranks gives a new life to the faction and gives them a new direction.

Match With World Title Implications Announced For AEW Dynasty

A new match has been added to AEW Dynasty.

Tonight’s episode of Dynamite from Winnipeg featured Darby Allin in a promo segment, where he once again talked about his World Title aspirations. The former TNT Champion called out MJF, but his call was answered by Don Callis, accompanied by Andrade el Idolo, Lance Archer, El Clon, and Hechicero instead.

The wrestling manager revealed that the AEW Champion has authorised a Dynasty match for Allin, and Darby will get his title shot if he wins the bout. Don Callis then announced Andrade as Darby Allin’s Dynasty opponent, though the former WWE star seemed unsure about the decision and argued with Callis before the end of the segment.

Jake Something is back in AEW.

A social media video had seen Ricochet putting a bounty on JetSpeed prior to this week\’s episode of Dynamite. The show then opened with a backstage segment where Renee Paquette mentioned that the duo of Kevin Knight & ‘Speedball’ Mike Bailey had been attacked by someone or something.

Don Callis, along with Ricochet and his partners, then entered the frame, at first denying the allegation of putting a bounty on the rival tag team. Callis, however, then introduced the TNA veteran as the guy who took out JetSpeed, referring to him by the new ring name of Jake Dolye:

Jake Something had been part of the TNA roster for 8 of the last 10 years in his multiple runs with the company. Though he had also made some appearances for NJPW and AEW. His latest run with the Anthem-owned promotion came to an end with his contract expiring on January 1 this year.

The latest AEW segment suggests that he is going to be a regular part of the company\’s roster going forward, potentially teaming with Mark Davis in the coming times. The segment with Jake also led to a couple of big returns later on the show. You can check out more about it here
