A former WWE star was in attendance in NXT.

This week\’s episode of the development show featured multiple title matches. One of them saw The Elegance Brand defending the TNA Knockouts Tag Team Titles against Sol Ruca and ZARIA.

Before the bell rang, the camera cut to the audience and showed Daria Rae, formerly known as Sonya Deville, sitting in the stands.

In the end, Heather & M were able to retain the tag titles, thanks to Ruca accidentally hitting her own partner. Ash then sent Sol crashing into the steel steps, and the defending champions got the pin on Zaria. Rae handed the title belts to Elegance Brand to end the segment, as the challengers argued with each other.

Sonya Deville\’s 10-year-long WWE run came to an end last February when the company decided not to renew her deal. She had taken a break from the wrestling world after this and has not competed in a match since then.

Daria Rae made her TNA debut during Impact\’s AMC premiere last month, where she was introduced as a new authority figure by Director of Authority Santino Marella. Though she instantly turned on Marella and introduced Elayna Black, fka Cora Jade as the newest signing of the brand.

  • Daria Rae Reveals Death Threats During WWE Naomi Storyline

Daria Rae, formerly known as Sonya Deville in WWE, revealed she received death threats from fans during her controversial storyline with Naomi.

Speaking on Busted Open TNA, Rae discussed the darker side of playing a heel authority figure, recalling how her on-screen confrontations with Naomi crossed a line for some viewers.

\”The times that it has gotten scary in the past is when people — I get death threats a lot,\” Rae said. \”I did the storyline with Naomi. I was in her face and she couldn\’t hit me because I was authority and I slapped her and she just had to eat it on the chin. Like it was really, really, really messed up stuff and I was getting like legitimate death threats.\”

The storyline ran on SmackDown from August 2021 through early 2022, with Deville using her authority position to antagonize Naomi at every turn.

The feud concluded at Elimination Chamber 2022 when Naomi teamed with Ronda Rousey to defeat Deville and Charlotte Flair.

Why Daria Rae Returned to Pro Wrestling

Rae also opened up about her decision to leave WWE after spending her entire adult life with the company.

\”From 21 years old to 31 years old, I was in the WWE. My entire adult life, my identity was WWE,\” she explained. \”And so I needed to find out who the hell I was as a person.\”

After announcing her retirement from in-ring competition in July 2025, Rae made a surprise return to wrestling on January 15, debuting as TNA\’s Director of Operations during Impact\’s AMC premiere. She said the collaborative creative environment was a major draw.

\”Just being able to come in and put things in my own words and bring in true things from my life into my character, just having that ability to have a voice, I think makes all the difference,\” she said. \”No one knows you better than you.\”

Rae is also continuing to pursue acting, with multiple film projects currently in production.

Everything\’s going great so far, and as long as it\’s a continuously mutually beneficial situation, meaning I\’m adding value and I feel good about what I\’m getting in return, then I don\’t see why it wouldn\’t continue long term.\”

The former WWE Superstar\’s comments offer a rare glimpse into the business side of wrestling contracts, with talent typically keeping such details private. The approach suggests she\’s testing the waters in TNA without a fixed commitment.

  • Daria Rae Debuts on TNA Impact

Former WWE star Sonya Deville made her TNA debut on January 15, 2026, during Impact\’s historic premiere on AMC, now wrestling under the name Daria Rae.

Director of Authority Santino Marella introduced Deville as his new assistant, explaining that the TNA Board of Directors decided he needed help running the company on AMC. However, what started as a warm introduction quickly turned into a hostile takeover attempt.

After initially complimenting Marella, Deville turned heel and declared \”the company doesn\’t need him.\” She ripped into Santino as \”a joke that can\’t even keep his own family together\” and positioned herself as someone who brings \”structure, discipline, and professionalism.\” When Marella attempted to respond, Deville cut him off with a sharp \”shut up\” while she was talking.

Branding herself as \”The Suit\” with the acronym S.U.I.T. (implied to mean \”Shut Up [When] I\’m Talking\”), Deville made it clear she believes she can run TNA better than Marella. She told Santino to \”stay out of her way\” after claiming she has \”run locker rooms and dealt with TV.\”

Deville\’s debut included a major announcement as she introduced Elayna Black (formerly Cora Jade in WWE) as the newest signing to the TNA Knockouts division. Black appeared on stage to a positive crowd reaction.

The appearance marks a surprising return to professional wrestling for Deville, who announced her retirement from the sport in July 2025 during an interview with Chris Van Vliet. At the time, she stated she was \”at peace\” with stepping away from wrestling and focusing on acting opportunities. She departed WWE in February 2025 when the company chose not to renew her contract.
