Backstage Update On Cathy Kelley Taking Bump On Raw

Cathy Kelley seems unlikely to have a match.

The WWE broadcaster surprised everyone by taking a bump on this Monday’s Raw. She went down when Liv Morgan attacked her WrestleMania opponent, Stephanie Vaquer, during an interview segment.

With previous reports revealing that the female star had done some training at the performance center, many wondered if this would lead to an in-ring future for her.

Will Cathy Kelley Make In-Ring Debut Soon?

Fightful Select provided an update on the matter in a new Q&A. They revealed that Cathy Kelley herself took the initiative to train at the PC instead of the officials directing her to do so.

The context was exploring the possibility of her getting an expanded on-screen role as opposed to becoming a wrestler for the company. The report also noted that they have not heard of any plans for Kelley to actually wrestle for the promotion.

In addition to the PC training, there have been meetings about Cathy’s future outside of WWE, exploring the potential of her seeking additional film and TV opportunities.

The former model made her acting debut last year so it seems likely that she can pick up more projects down the line while continuing to work with WWE.

Watch: Cathey Kelley Takes Unexpected Bump On Raw

    Cathy Kelley took a bump.

It was Liv Morgan’s turn to sneak attack Stephanie Vaquer this week, after the Women’s Champion gave Morgan a nasty injury in a similar attack on last week’s episode of Raw.

Roxanne Perez had gotten caught up in the crossfire last week. This week’s attack was also not without unwarranted casualties, unfortunately. This time, it was Cathy Kelley who suffered because of it.

The WWE broadcaster who was interviewing Vaquer at the time had to be helped to the back after taking the bump. Though Michael Cole thankfully informed us later in the night that Kelly was ok after this segment.

This was the second bit of bad news for Rhea Ripley coming out of the night after IYO SKY suffered a singles defeat at the hands of Kairi Sane on the show.

It appears Rhiyo may need to add a new member to their rank to keep track of all the challenges coming at them. If so then we know just the gal who will be interested in the job offer…

  • WWE\’s Cathy Kelley Announces First Movie Role

Cathy Kelley is stepping into a new spotlight outside of WWE as the interviewer/backstage personality has landed her first movie role. On May 16, 2025, Kelley took to X to announce her exciting news, complete with a photo of herself smiling in front of a trailer marked with her character’s name.

Kelley didn’t reveal any additional details about the project, the announcement has fueled speculation among fans about what type of role she might be taking on. Interestingly, this news comes amid ongoing rumors that Kelley may soon make her in-ring debut in WWE. Reports have indicated that she has been training at the WWE Performance Center and attending promo classes.

  • Cathy Kelley Training For Potential New WWE Role (Report)

Cathy Kelley might be getting ready for a new role in WWE.

The beloved ring announcer first joined WWE in 2016. She left the company in 2020 but was brought back in 2023, and Kelley has been a part of the main roster broadcasting team ever since.

While Cathy does her job perfectly, she also seems to have reached the ceiling of where she could go as a ring announcer and perhaps this is why the female star is looking for a change.

According to PWInsider, Cathy Kelley has been training at the WWE Performance Center recently. She has been taking part in the promo classes and even learning a little in ring work. The purpose for this is not clear at the moment, but it\’s possible that the company will use her as a manager in the future.

Though being a manager would likely mean turning heel for the announcer, which does not match with her current personality. Another possibility will be for her to get involved in storylines while continuing her current role.

Kelley is often seen joking around about her relationship with Rhea Ripley on social media. Using her as inspiration for The Mami in a feud would make a lot of sense.

WWE allowing Cathy to explore the possibility is an interesting development as former WWE ring announcer Samantha Irvin had said that not getting the chance to explore the same option was one of the reasons behind her departure from the company last year.

  • Cathy Kelley Says Kevin Owens Saved Her Life During Traumatizing Accident

Cathy Kelley and Kevin Owens experienced a dune buggy accident ahead of WWE’s Crown Jewel event from Saudi Arabia. As part of the pre-show festivities, WWE talent and staff participated in various activities, including dune buggy rides. During the Crown Jewel pre-show broadcast, it was revealed that Kelley and Owens had been involved in the accident.

Owens was originally scheduled to compete in a match against Randy Orton. However, the match took a dramatic turn as the two brawled outside the ring, leading to Orton being stretchered out of the venue. Speaking on B4TheBell, Cathy Kelley provided more details about the incident and reflected on her long-standing friendship with Owens. She shared:

\”He\’s been one of my friends for years. I\’ve had many conversations with him off camera. We just got into a kind of traumatizing accident when we were in Saudi Arabia in a dune buggy. I kind of credit him for saving my life in that moment.

We rolled three and a half times in a dune buggy. He said his initial instinct was to protect me. I was holding onto a safety rail, he was right behind me. We could have gotten much more banged up than we did. We were really lucky that we walked out of it relatively unscathed.”

Kelley added that she came away with just a minor scratch on her hand, while Owens’ quick instincts potentially prevented more serious injuries.

Despite the harrowing experience, Owens is set to appear in a face-to-face segment with the Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes on this Friday’s episode of SmackDown.
