  • AEW stars make their return on Dynamite

After Orange Cassidy successfully defended the All-Atlantic Championship against Jake Hager, the lights went out. Instead of being Very Evil Danhausen, the lights came up to reveal Julia Hart surrounded by smoke and red lights.

The camera cut back to the ring to show House of Black take out Best Friends, Rocky Romero, and Cassidy. The Factory was happy to see this until they got attacked too. Security attempted to stop them to no avail. Malakai Black told the members of the House of Black to please rise.

Back in September, Malakai Black took time away from AEW. Due to a reported non-compete clause, fans speculated he was trying to go back to WWE. Black broke his silence to say he wasn\’t leaving and just taking time off.

Shortly after, Buddy Matthews also stepped away from AEW to \”recalibrate\”. Brody King and Julia Hart confirmed that they were still in AEW, but weren\’t used as much. During Full Gear, a vignette was shown of House of Black hinting at their return.

  • Will Ospreay Teases New United Empire Member

Former IWGP World Heavyweight Champion Will Ospreay is teasing a new member of his United Empire faction will debut soon. He teased that his \”buddy\” will debut on the NJPW shows in Texas on September 25th and 26th.

Ospreay is scheduled to face Karl Fredericks on the 25th and is then scheduled to team with a mystery partner to face Fredericks and Clark Connors on the 26th.

The former Buddy Murphy, now using the name Buddy Matthews, seemingly responded to Ospreay\’s comments.

Matthews was released from his WWE contract on June 2nd and is now believed to be free to sign with other promotions. The 32-year-old had been with WWE since 2013. In his time with the company, Murphy won the NXT tag-team championships once along with Wesley Blake, the Cruiserweight Championship once, and also held the RAW tag-team titles on one occasion along with Seth Rollins.

Ospreay debuted the United Empire faction last October. Current members included Jeff Cobb, who recently defeated Kazuchika Okada at Wrestle Grand Slam, Aaron Henare, and Great-O-Khan. Bea Priestley was previously a member of the group as well.

Ospreay last appeared for NJPW at the Resurgence PPV in Los Angeles. He brought out his IWGP World title belt and claimed to still be the champion despite being stripped of the title earlier this year.

  • Braun Strowman Likely Heading To Impact Wrestling (Report)

Former WWE superstars Braun Strowman and Buddy Murphy are both likely heading to Impact Wrestling after their release from the company earlier this year, suggests Wrestling Observer Newsletter.

Dave Meltzer talked about the future of some recently released stars in the latest edition of the Newsletter. He noted that both the former WWE talents are likely headed to the Impact Zone:

\”It appears that the former Braun Strowman and Buddy Murphy will be here, with Murphy as Buddy Matthews (his real name is Matthew Adams) and not sure what name Strowman will use. Scott D’Amore did a Twitch show from a baseball game and mentioned the term Braun for Glory.\”

Meltzer also reiterated his comments about the company officials being interested in bringing in Bray Wyatt as well. Though he noted that it\’s one situation that can go in many different directions.

Braun Strowman has not provided a lot of hints about his future since his WWE release. Buddy Murphy on the other hand has been very active on social media. He has been posting vignettes teasing his next move.

Since both the stars were released on June 2, they are expected to become free agents once their non-compete clause expires at the end of this month. It would be interesting to see when they make their first appearance for Impact.

  • Buddy Murphy Reveals Post WWE Name In New Teaser

Former WWE star Buddy Murphy has posted the latest one of his teaser videos on Twitter today in two parts. He apparently also revealed his post-WWE name with it.

In this latest teaser, the former NXT star is seen getting released from the prison he has been seen inside before. Towards the end of the footage, a Buddy Murphy graphic appears on the screen.

The graphic then changes into Buddy Matthew, revealing the new ring name for the high flying star. What\’s interesting to note here is that the name Matthew was referenced in a similar video posted by Malakai Black before his AEW debut:

    https://twitter.com/WWE_Murphy/status/1428718010802622465

Buddy Murphy was released by WWE on June 2. Since all main roster stars have a 90 days non-compete clause, he is expected to become a free agent on August 31.

It has been reported before that multiple wrestling promotions are interested in bringing the former 205 Live star in. Potential options for him include companies such as Impact Wrestling and All Elite Wrestling.

Now the big question is if the tie-ins to Black\’s videos suggest that Murphy has already made his decision and if we will see the former champion making his AEW debut soon.

  • Buddy Murphy Releases New Videos Teasing Start Of Post-WWE Career

Buddy Murphy was released from WWE on June 2nd, 2021. He is one of over 50 wrestlers the company has released this year. For the last two days, Murphy has been releasing teaser videos as he gets closer to the end of his non-compete window. Much like many former WWE wrestlers have done, the theme of his videos appears to be him being released from prison.

The first ominous video was released yesterday:

    https://twitter.com/WWE_Murphy/status/1424415714367217668

He released a video today in 2 parts. This one also has some connection to a video released by Malakai Black not long ago. This video features a man arriving at some facility and speaking with a doctor who led him to a patient that had been locked in there for \”8 years plus an additional 90 days in lockdown.\”

\”There\’s been a few incidents, altercations, he doesn\’t really play well with others,\” the doctor says in the video.

The doctor was not happy to hear that the man had arrived to release the inmate. The video ends with a \”To Be Continued.\”

  • Impact Wrestling Is Making A Major Play For Ex-WWE Star

Impact Wrestling is interested in signing one former WWE star and that’s Buddy Murphy.

Dave Meltzer reported in the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that Impact is making a “major play” for Murphy.

Murphy was thought of highly in WWE among his peers for being an excellent worker and someone who wasn’t used to his full potential while with the company.

WWE did have plans last year to give him another push, but it was nixed. This was around the time that Murphy was involved in a storyline with the Mysterio family and Seth Rollins then was paired with Aalyah Mysterio.

The former WWE star recently did an interview with Chris Van Vliet where he talked about a wide range of topics including Bruce Prichard telling him that plans for this storyline were dropped cold only for a few months to pass with WWE teasing going back to Murphy being paired with Rollins and them being back on good terms. However, that was dropped and eventually, Murphy got released by WWE.

Murphy’s non-compete clause expires on August 31st. Thus, while some former WWE stars are expected at Slammiversary on Saturday night, Murphy won’t be one of them.

  • Buddy Murphy Facing AEW Star in First Post-WWE Match

Former WWE Superstar Buddy Murphy has been confirmed for his first post-WWE match this September. The former WWE Cruiserweight Champion will be facing AEW star and FTW Champion Brian Cage on an independent card in the ECW Arena.

Brian Cage confirmed on Instagram that he would be facing the ‘Best Kept Secret’ on Saturday, September 18 at the 2300 Arena in Philadelphia. The match will be taking place for the Battleground Championship Wrestling promotion.

“JUST ANNOUNCED! Murphy vs Machine” Brian Cage wrote concerning the upcoming match with Buddy Murphy. “One of the hot matches I was looking forward to since the slew of WWE releases.”

    Buddy Murphy vs Brian Cage

“Bout to own the spotlight, have the match of the night and def get my s–t in! One helluva return to the ECW Arena. On Saturday September 18th live from the 2300 Arena Worlds Collide! Secure your tickets now at battlegroundcw.com and witness live the epic clash of two forces that will come together in one incredible showdown.”

Buddy Murphy was released from his WWE contract back on June 2, meaning that he is still currently under the 90-day non-compete clause which ends on Tuesday August 31. Murphy would then be eligible to sign for the likes of IMPACT, NJPW, MLW or All Elite, who run the ALL OUT PPV event just a few days after his non-compete is up.

  • Buddy Murphy On His Post WWE Plans

Buddy Murphy was considered to be one of the most underrated stars in WWE. Now that he has been released by the company, a lot of people are looking forward to his next move.

The former WWE star recently had an interview with Chris Van Vliet where he talked about things such as his new larger physique, his time in WWE and more.

During the interview, Murphy was asked where he might end up next. Replying to the question, he mentioned a couple of destinations he is interested in:

“I’m excited for the possibility. I think I could do some great stuff in IMPACT, I’ve got friends there like Sami Callihan. I’m pretty sure I wrestled like 9 dark matches on NXT with Sami Callihan in a row. Ring of Honor, some of my guys and my friends from back home are with Ring of Honor.

That excites me, being with some people that I used to ride the streets with in Australia. It’s exciting but it’s an unknown. I have just under 2 months left, so we’ll see what comes.”

Buddy Murphy On His Post WWE Name

Buddy Murphy was also asked about his post-WWE name. He said that he has thought about his new name and he will release that later as a big reveal:

“I’ve thought about it. I’ll probably release that later on as a big reveal, kind of like a package. I’m sure it’s going to get people that agree with it and people that disagree with it. You’re never going to win everyone and that’s the thing.

But I’ll probably release it, we have a project that we’re probably going to get to next week so I’m excited about that.”

Buddy Murphy was released from his WWE contract on June 2. His 90 days non compete clause with the company is expected to expire in early September. You can check out his full interview below:

  • Buddy Murphy is the Hottest Free Agent on the Market

Since the latest round of WWE releases, there is one name that everybody has been talking about. However, it is actually Buddy Murphy who seems to have the world at his feet right now.

According to sources at PW Insider Indie promotions are chomping at the bit to get their hands on Buddy Murphy. The 32-year-old Australian will not be short of offers once his 90-day break is seen out.

    https://www.instagram.com/p/CPLy2zKrvYm/

He is a special kind of wrestler who has power beyond his size and athletic ability that lets him keep up with the lighter guys on a roster. The former best-kept secret would be an incredible asset to any promotion. If he was to return to the indies, rather than sign for one single promotion then there is no end to the potential matches he could have.

An athlete of Buddy Murphy’s calibre could walk into any promotion and instant be a star draw.

Murphy has already set up a new email account for anybody looking to get in touch about future bookings. The name used is [email protected] a clear homage to his old nickname as the Best Kept Secret.

Buddy Murphy is a former singles and tag team champion in WWE. His most memorable moment would surely be winning the cruiserweight title in front of his home fans during a WWE show in Australia.

While Buddy Murphy has not yet signed on for any events just yet, the wrestling world has its eyes peeled for where he will appear. Expect it to be a very busy second half of 2021 for this talented wrestler.

  • Buddy Murphy On His WWE Release: \”I Haven’t Even Hit My Peak Yet\”

Buddy Murphy is the latest WWE Superstar to speak publicly about his release from the company on Wednesday.

Murphy issued a statement on Twitter, calling his 8-year run with WWE a crazy ride. He says through all the highs and lows, he always gave a hundred precent.

\”So Today ends my 8 years with WWE! What a crazy ride! Highest of Highs, Lowest of Lows, but weather I had 3 minutes or 20 minutes I put all my effort into my performances! Nothing is harder when all you want to do is wrestle but you can’t!\”

The Australian grappler says wrestling fans still have not seen the best of what he has to offer. He\’s grateful he got a chance to work with such talented people in WWE, but assures fans that the best is yet to come.

\”In my opinion I haven’t even hit my peak yet and I’m excited to see what the next adventure holds. I was lucky enough to work with some of the best talent in the world and learnt a tremendous amount. But trust me… the whole world will know what I meant by \’Best Kept Secret” Thank you all!\’

During his time with WWE, Buddy Murphy held the NXT tag team championships (with Wesley Blake), the Cruiserweight championship and the Raw tag team championships (with Seth Rollins).

  • Buddy Murphy Told To Delete Instagram Post Directed At Mysterio Family

Buddy Murphy was involved in an angle with Seth Rollins and the Mysterio family recently. He\’s no longer involved on-camera with either the Mysterios or \”The Monday night Messiah\” however.

Murphy briefly posted to Instagram a storyline update regarding why he was no longer involved with the Mysterio family. The post was later deleted.

“Let’s point out the obvious! The Mysterio’s used me! I never needed them!\” Murphy wrote. \”I’m beyond one of the most talent in-ring performers on the planet! Aalyah used me to be on tv and advance an acting career. Dominik used me so he had a reason to stand ringside. Rey was jealous that I became the new face of the cruiserweight and he was left out of the discussion. They took what they wanted then they left me in the shadows! Sounds like my time in NXT.”

According to comments made on Wrestling Observer Radio, WWE ordered Murphy to delete the comments.

\”Buddy Murphy, I guess he did an Instagram post trying to shoot his own angle with the Mysterios,\” said Dave Meltzer. \”He was ordered to delete it, so he did.\”

\”I guess he decided to come up with a reason to end (the angle) and turn heel and they didn\’t want him shooting his own angle on Instagram.\”

Murphy also recently sent the following to Aleister Black on Twitter:

  • Backstage Update on WWE Superstar Buddy Murphy

WWE Superstar Buddy Murphy has been missing from WWE programming over the past couple of months. Murphy has been side-lined ever since the Mysterio Family had positive COVID-19 results back in December. Buddy Murphy had to quarantine himself as he was heavily involved on WWE programming with the Mysterio family; specifically in an angle with Aalyah, Rey Mysterio\’s daughter.

The whole Seth Rollins, Buddy Murphy and Mysterio family storyline was moved over to SmackDown during last year\’s WWE Draft. Since then the angle appears to have been dropped. Both Rollins and the aforementioned Buddy Murphy needed to take time away from WWE for separate reasons. Seth Rollins\’ partner Becky Lynch gave birth to their first child Roux at the end of December 2020.

Fightful Select confirmed that Buddy Murphy was listed as an \’alternate\’ for the Royal Rumble show just over a week ago. RAW Superstar Cedric Alexander was also listed as an alternate for the Men\’s Rumble match.

Two names that were not listed as alternates were Montez Ford and Andrade. Ford was backstage at the show supporting his wife Bianca Belair as she went on to win the Women\’s Royal Rumble match. Fightful also reported that Andrade\’s backstage status was unknown; and that he wasn\’t listed as an alternate in the Royal Rumble match itself.

There\’s currently no confirmation on when WWE plans to bring Buddy Murphy back to television. The angle featuring himself and Aalyah Mysterio has not been mentioned for some time on WWE programming, so it may have fallen to the wayside. Several WWE fans were not happy with the ongoing love story between the two; with Aalyah being only 19 years old whilst Buddy Murphy was 31.

  • Title Match At WrestleMania 36 Reportedly Changed, Another Star Pulled

In the past 24 hours, news of several changes made to the WrestleMania 36 card has surfaced online.

The coronavirus epidemic has forced the company to change things up with their biggest event of the year despite their efforts to do the show they initially wanted this week.

On Friday, it was reported that The Miz had been pulled from the show due to illness which impacted what WWE had planned for Miz and John Morrison at WrestleMania 36 in their latest title defense of the SmackDown Tag Team Championships.

Miz and Morrison were supposed to defend the titles against the winners of New Day vs. The Usos on Friday Night SmackDown. Dave Meltzer is reporting that Morrison will face one of the Usos in a ladder match instead at WrestleMania 36.

Also, despite it being reported elsewhere, Asuka and Cesaro both worked WrestleMania with no health issues. For those who are wondering, Edge vs. Randy Orton in a Last Man Standing match was successfully taped this week.

Finally, PWInsider reported that Buddy Murphy was indeed sick and didn\’t come to any TV tapings this week including WrestleMania 36. It was noted by Meltzer that no one sick was allowed around even if they had a cough or a stuffy nose at the tapings.

The changes started earlier this week when news broke earlier this week that Rey Mysterio and Dana Brooke were off the plans for the show due to self quarantining.

Then, it was reported that Roman Reigns had decided to not work his scheduled match against WWE Universal Champion Bill Goldberg despite being in the building when the show was taped.

  • WWE Changes Name Of Current Champion, Carmella On Becoming The #1 Contender

It appears that one half of the current Raw Tag Team Champions, Buddy Murphy is the latest star to have undergone a name change and lose his first name.

WWE has recently updated the former Cruiserweight Champion\’s bio page on their official website and as seen in the screenshot below, the page now lists him as only Murphy:

    \"\"

Murphy recently joined the stable of Seth Rollins and Authors Of Pain and this move seemed to be working out well for the former 205 Live star as it has resulted in him winning his first title in the main roster.

Carmella On Becoming The #1 Contender

The main event of this week\’s episode of SmackDown Live saw Alexa Bliss, Carmella, Dana Brooke and Naomi competing in a fatal four-way match to determine the new #1 contender for the SmackDown Women\’s Championship.

This match was won by Carmella but she couldn\’t celebrate for long. The former NXT star was attacked by Bayley shortly after the match was over and the current champion stood tall to end the show.

The former Women\’s Champion was then interviewed backstage where she was asked about her win and how will she prepare for her upcoming championship match. You can check out her interview below:

  • Buddy Murphy Praises Roman Reigns, Reveals Who Asked Him To Join Stable

Buddy Murphy has confessed he believes that Roman Reigns is one of the best in the world. Speaking with talkSPORT, the RAW Team Team Champion opened up about his experiences wrestling the \”Big Dog.\”

\”Yeah, it was awesome to be in that position,\” Murphy said, reflecting on his 2019 SmackDown matches against Reigns and Daniel Bryan. \”First of all, with the Roman match and being thrown into the mix with him – Roman was awesome to work with. He kind of let me put my own little spin on it.\”

He continued, \”It was more a Buddy Murphy match, so to speak. I know a lot of people in the internet wrestling community give Roman a lot of hate, \’he can\’t wrestle\’ and whatever – Roman is one of the best wrestlers in the world and you can mark my word on that.

Buddy Murphy praised Reigns\’ ability in the ring, commenting on the chemistry that had together. Murphy added how, if he could, he would wrestle him every day of the week. It\’s a sentiment he also has for Daniel Bryan.

Buddy Murphy On Joining Seth Rollins

Having aligned with Seth Rollins, Murphy has since been a tear on RAW. When asked about who approached him to join the stable, Murphy revealed it was Rollins\’ idea.

\”Seth did approach me about it, yes. I was very excited to have a story to sink my teeth into because I know I can go out there and perform. I\’ve proven that and I\’ve stolen many, many shows I\’ve been on, but the character aspect and connecting with fans is something you always want to work on. This is the perfect opportunity for that.\”

Buddy Murphy noted how the stable reflects the real-life respect he carries for Rollins. He knows there is a lot he can learn from Rollins going forward and is excited by the dynamic between themselves and the Authors of Pain leading to bigger storylines in the future.

  • Buddy Murphy Talks About Paul Heyman Believing In Him, 205 Live

RAW Superstar Buddy Murphy has been enjoying a string of success recently, especially since aligning himself with Seth Rollins. Even before this, Murphy has been turning heads with several great matches against Aleister Black. In a recent interview, Murphy credited these opportunities to Paul Heyman’s belief in him.

“Paul has been awesome to work with. He has a lot of belief in me and I don’t want to let him down,” Murphy explained to talkSPORT. “The Aleister Black performances and what not, I want the ball and I want to run with it. I believe – and Paul believes – I can be a mega star for this company.”

Murphy stated how, once the bell rings, he’s confident with his in-ring talents. He then noted that all he needs now is a “story to sink my teeth into.” For him, his alliance with Rollins could be the exact thing to propel him even further. He added how Heyman has been actively pointing him in the right direction, and as long as he can keep Heyman and Vince McMahon happy, then he’s happy.

Buddy Murphy Comments On 205 Live

Buddy Murphy then turned his attention to his former brand, 205 Live. He stressed how the the “205 originals are awesome” because of how they could be partnered with any main roster Superstar at any time.

He admitted he hasn’t seen much of the current 205 Live show, adding how “From what I’ve seen of it, they don’t do much [in the way of] stories at the moment. Not many storylines there, you know what I mean?”

  • Seth Rollins & Buddy Murphy Win WWE RAW Tag Team Titles

The Viking Raiders didn’t stay on top of the tag team division on WWE RAW for long as their reign as champions is over while it’s now the time for Seth Rollins and Buddy Murphy.

Rollins and Murphy beat Ivar and Erik to win the WWE RAW Tag Team Titles on Monday’s episode of RAW in Wichita, KS at the Intrust Bank Arena on the USA Network. This marks the first time that they have held the titles together.

The Viking Raiders had won the RAW Tag Team Titles back on the October 14th episode of RAW when they beat Bobby Roode and Dolph Ziggler in Denver, Colorado at the Pepsi Center.

Murphy’s alliance with Rollins started last week when Murphy helped AOP (Akam & Rezar) & Rollins defeat Kevin Owens, Samoa Joe & The Big Show in a fist fight that served as the headliners.

WWE set up this championship match earlier in the night during the opening segment where the former champions aligned themselves with Joe and Owens while exchanging words with the heels to further their storyline.
