  • Gunther Gloats About Choking Out Goldberg

Gunther couldn\’t resist taking a playful jab at Goldberg when Stephen A. Smith revealed his all-time top five favorite wrestlers during an ESPN First Take interview.

The Ring General appeared on the show to promote his upcoming match against John Cena at Saturday Night\’s Main Event. When Smith shared that Goldberg topped his personal rankings—followed by Ric Flair, Kurt Angle, Eddie Guerrero, and The Rock—Gunther had a memorable response.

\”I love Goldberg. I love choking him out. I tell you this, I enjoyed that,\” Gunther quipped with a smile.

The comment referenced their match earlier this year, which saw Gunther defeat the WWE Hall of Famer in what many speculate was Goldberg\’s final appearance.

While Gunther appreciated Smith\’s picks, he politely disagreed with the top spot.

\”I wouldn\’t agree. I think Goldberg is definitely legend and absolute special wrestler, but I don\’t think I\’ve ever seen anybody putting on the number one favorite wrestler,\” Gunther said. \”Otherwise, I think yeah, it\’s very accurate.\”

Smith asked Gunther to grade the list, and the Ring General was diplomatic.

\”Go with that. I\’ll take it four out of five. All right. It\’s okay. I\’ll go with that,\” Gunther replied. \”I think otherwise you can argue Ric Flair, Hogan, The Rock, all great.\”

The lighthearted exchange also included Smith definitively ruling out any possibility of stepping into a wrestling ring himself after seeing Gunther in person.

\”I\’m not going anywhere near wrestling ring. I don\’t think what I don\’t think it would be a good idea. I\’m too damn small. I don\’t want y\’all breathing on me, let alone touching me. Forgive me. I\’m not qualified,\” Smith joked.

Gunther presented the First Take team with a framed sledgehammer from Triple H and Nick Khan as a holiday gift before the interview concluded.

  • Clarification On Goldberg \’Skipping\’ WrestleFest Private Signing

Bill Goldberg recently made headlines after it was claimed that he skipped a private signing with K&S WrestleFest during the Big Event NY Expo. Now though, more has come to light about the actions of the WWE Hall of Famer.

On Facebook, a fan appreciated Tom Unger, the promoter of Big Event EXS, while also making their views clear on Goldberg\’s alleged actions. This prompted a response from Unger, who made clear that Goldberg completed the five hours signing that he was contracted to.

Unger also said that K&S WrestleFest shouldn\’t be \”posting this all over like the victim\” as they knew there was a chance that they wouldn\’t have Goldberg. When the fan asked why Goldberg simply didn\’t stay longer than his contracted time, another fan said that Bill shouldn\’t have to go beyond what he was contracted for.

    \"\"

This revelation by Unger paints this situation in a new light. Rather than Goldberg unprofessionally skipping a signing, he simply left the show after the period of time he had been paid to work there expired. While K&S WrestleFest said in their initial post that they were \”super disappointed and frustrated\” by Goldberg\’s actions, they should have been aware all along that Goldberg\’s time was limited.

Goldberg retired from in-ring competition earlier this year with a loss to GUNTHER at WWE Saturday Night\’s Main Event. While his days in the ring are over, Goldberg continues to drum up drama outside of the ring.

  • Bill Goldberg Accused Of Skipping Private WrestleFest Signing

WWE Hall of Famer Bill Goldberg allegedly no-showed a private signing for K&S WrestleFest. On Facebook, WrestleFest claimed that while Goldberg took part in a signing with another vendor at the same event, he walked past them and left the venue when it was time to appear for them.

Unfortunately Goldberg PRIVATE Signing did not happen ..

We had all our items laid out ready to sign as Goldberg was doing another Private for another vendor.

After he was done, he got up and said he was done.. He walked out past our stuff, and left..

We are all super disappointed, and frustrated…

    My apologies to all…

While Goldberg allegedly did not participate, he was at the Big Event NY Expo. Images on social media confirm that the former WWE Universal Champion was in attendance, where he was able to reconnect with his felloe WWE Hall of Famers.

Goldberg has not publicly commented on this situation, but the claims against him hardly paint him in a positive light. This alleged incident comes after Matt Riddle reportedly no-showed GWK\’s debut event in Barnsley, England. In WWE, Riddle often criticized Goldberg, though the pair never had a match.

It remains to be seen if Goldberg will address this alleged situation. Stay tuned to SEScoops for all the details.

  • Asuka Responds to Goldberg’s Comments About Eclipsing His Streak

During a recent interview with Real Talk, WWE Hall of Famer Bill Goldberg shared his take on Asuka surpassing his 173-0 undefeated streak from his WCW days. While Goldberg made clear that he had no issue that “some girl” (Asuka) surpassed his streak, he suggested that WWE’s decision was to ‘stick it’ to somebody who was part of WCW during the Monday Night War.

Taking to X, Asuka shared a lengthy rebuttal. The former Women’s Champion made clear that Goldberg’s comments don’t bother her and shared how her focus is on creating art, rather than racking up wins.

“Goldberg’s comments about me are all over the news right now. But honestly, I’m not bothered by it at all. What he said came from his own perspective, and that’s fine. So there’s really no need to make such a big deal out of it.

    “Listen to my philosophy.

“It’s not about what I accomplish. It’s about what I try to create. Philosophy and vision, that’s where the real value is. I don’t find meaning in anything without beauty.

“I’ve achieved every record, every title, but those are just milestones. What really matters is opening a new era. Creating the moment that separates Before Asuka and After Asuka. Having the power to change an era. That’s where true value and beauty exist.

“I don’t chase records or championships. They’re the ones that come to me.

“There’s not enough art in this world.”

Goldberg’s comments about me are all over the news right now. But honestly, I’m not bothered by it at all. What he said came from his own perspective, and that’s fine. So there’s really no need to make such a big deal out of it.
    Listen to my philosophy.
    It’s not about what I… https://t.co/QRXUFom5Vm pic.twitter.com/AlIpq7IUiQ

    — The legendary Empress ASUKA / ???ASUKA?? (@WWEAsuka) October 25, 2025

Asuka was undefeated from her debut in WWE in 2015 until her loss to Charlotte Flair at WrestleMania 34 in April 2018. Her winning streak saw her capture the WWE NXT Women’s Championship and win the first-ever Women\’s Royal Rumble match.

Asuka and Goldberg both know what it means to be undefeated, and both know the sting of being handed their first loss in the ring. While fans continue to compare the respective streaks of the two, Asuka’s focus is on making something special, not racking up wins.

  • Is Bill Goldberg Really Retired? His Son is Unsure

What appeared to be Bill Goldberg\’s final WWE match against Gunther on July 12, 2025, may not have been as definitive as fans believed. In a revealing interview with Bill Apter for Wrestlebinge, the WWE legend\’s son Gage offered intriguing comments that suggest his father\’s wrestling future remains uncertain.

When asked directly about whether the Saturday Night\’s Main Event World Heavyweight Championship match represented his father\’s true retirement, Gage provided a cryptic response that has fans buzzing.

\”My dad\’s a very spontaneous guy, so we\’ll see for sure,\” Gage explained. \”All I do know is he really liked that match and he I thought he was in great conditioning and everything and I mean, he could still be in wrestling shape. Who knows?\”

The younger Goldberg\’s comments reveal the extensive preparation his father undertook for what many assumed would be his farewell performance at Atlanta\’s State Farm Arena.

\”He\’s been working his butt off like every single day, whether it\’s diet to working out to running. He was he was working like for he was working for that for a while,\” Gage noted with evident pride.

While Bill Goldberg has previously mentioned the possibility of a final match in Israel, Gage remained diplomatically non-committal about his father\’s future plans.

\”I can\’t really talk for him, but I mean, who knows?\” he said, carefully avoiding putting words in his father\’s mouth.

Despite Goldberg expressing frustration with aspects of his retirement sendoff in a subsequent interview with Ariel Helwani, Gage\’s comments offer a glimmer of hope for WWE fans that the Hall of Famer\’s legendary career may have additional chapters yet to be written.

  • WWE Apologizes to Goldberg After Saturday Night\’s Main Event Speech Is Cut Off

Goldberg’s WWE farewell didn’t unfold as planned—and now the company is reportedly trying to make things right behind the scenes. According to Fightful Select, WWE officials have apologized to Goldberg after his post-match retirement speech was abruptly cut off during Saturday Night’s Main Event on July 12. This unfortunate moment sparked speculation about WWE\’s handling of Goldberg and the Hall of Famer’s future in the wrestling industry.

Goldberg lost his retirement match to World Heavyweight Champion GUNTHER in Atlanta, fulfilling a long-standing tradition for wrestlers to put someone else \’over\’ in their final match. Sources confirmed WWE had a \”hard out\” for the NBC broadcast, which ran long due to earlier segments, hence why Goldberg\’s farewell speech was cut short. Seth Rollins injury during his match with LA Knight resulted in their segment going longer than planned.

Speaking on The Ariel Helwani Show, Goldberg voiced his frustration:

\”Let’s just say I’m pissed off at the way I went out. I put so much into it, and I don’t feel the effort was reciprocated to put a stamp on what I accomplished.\”

While the speech cut wasn\’t deliberate, multiple WWE insiders reportedly felt remorseful. At least one high-level official has since issued a personal apology to Goldberg. WWE has also uploaded the full 10-minute speech to YouTube in an attempt to make amends.

Goldberg is a known legend of wrestling, which is why many, including AEW\’s Jim Ross, have taken issue with his final moments as an active talent. With this dour ending, it\’s unclear when, if ever, fans will see Goldberg on a WWE branded show again.

  • WWE Referee Injured by Goldberg at SNME

WWE referee Charles Robinson was injured during the main event at Saturday Night\’s Main Event when he received a Spear from Goldberg.

Robinson wasn’t even Goldberg’s intended target, but his ribs didn’t get the memo. The legendary official shared details of his situation on Instagram. Thankfully, there’s no hard feelings, they’re still friends and he considers it an honor to be part of the legendary grappler’s final encounter. He’s determined to return to SmackDown next week when the blue brand visits San Antonio, Texas. “I am all man and can’t be kept down!”

Goldberg and Robinson have worked together since the late 1990s, with Robinson refereeing several old Goldberg’s biggest matches, including his infamous clash withBret Hart at Starrcade 1999. Robinson began his refereeing career in the Pro Wrestling Federation in 1995 and has been a full-time referee since 1997, giving him over 28 years of experience.

Goldberg wrestled his final match and officially retired this past weekend, marking the end of his legendary career in professional wrestling.

  • Goldberg Loses Final Match, Thanks Fans At WWE Saturday Night\’s Main Event

WWE Hall of Famer Bill Goldberg\’s final match did not go as he hoped as he came up short at Saturday Night\’s Main Event. In the final match of the night, Goldberg battled World Heavyweight Champion GUNTHER. Despite a valiant effort by the former WCW World Champion, GUNTHER got the win by choking Goldberg out in his native Atlanta.

Speaking after the match, Goldberg apologized to the live crowd for not getting the win and the World Heavyweight Championship. Nevertheless, Goldberg was grateful for the friends and family who had made the trip to see his final match in person.

For Goldberg, the question is no longer \’Who\’s Next?\’ but rather \’What\’s Next?\’ As Goldberg prepares for life outside of the ring, it remains to be seen what\’s to come for the WWE Hall of Famer.

  • Gage Goldberg: My Dad Could Wrestle Beyond Retirement Match

Bill Goldberg\’s final match is set to happen at Saturday Night\’s Main Event, but will this actually mark the end of the WWE legend\’s in-ring career? Speaking to Sportskeeda, Gage Goldberg, the son of Bill, argued that his father has more than one match left in him.

\”He definitely has the mindset and the mentality to be able to go for a longer match and everything, and two matches even, I think he is.\”

While Gage believes his dad could still go, the elder Goldberg has been adamant that his July 12, showdown with GUNTHER will be his final match. While some believe that Goldberg being 58 means he won\’t be able to deliver a great match, Gage isn\’t worried.

\”If you look at Gunther right now, that was my dad a couple of, well not a couple of years ago, but back in the day that was my dad. So I think it\’s a good challenge for him for sure, and it could be a great retirement match.\”

Goldberg made his WCW debut in 1997 and quickly won over fans with his impactful matches and 173-0 winning streak. Now, he plans to make the World Heavyweight Champion his final victim, and take the gold in the process.

  • Goldberg Explains How Modern Wrestling Allows for Extended Careers

When Bill Goldberg steps into the ring for his final match at 58, he\’ll be doing something that would have been nearly impossible for wrestlers of previous generations – competing at an elite level well into his fifties.

During a recent interview on The Claw Pod, Goldberg offered insight into how the wrestling industry has evolved to allow performers to extend their careers far beyond what was once considered possible.

\”I think that people are learning to take better care of themselves,\” Goldberg explained when asked about the differences between current wrestlers and those from earlier eras. \”I think the business is lending itself to longevity a little bit more now and that the schedule isn\’t as stressed as it used to be.\”

The contrast with previous generations is stark. As Goldberg noted about wrestlers from earlier decades, \”If they were 58 and they were a wrestler, it was an accomplishment that they were still alive at that point.\” This harsh reality reflected the brutal lifestyle of constant travel, and the cumulative physical toll of performing nearly year-round.

Goldberg credits improved understanding of physical maintenance and more selective scheduling for enabling longer careers. Unlike the road warriors of the \’80s and \’90s who performed hundreds of matches per year, modern veterans can choose their spots and prepare properly for significant matches.

Personal motivation also plays a crucial role in Goldberg\’s continued fitness. Having his 19-year-old son Gage, a college football player at Colorado, has provided additional inspiration. \”Gage has helped, you know, because not only you can talk the talk, but you can walk the walk,\” Goldberg said, describing how keeping up with his athletic son pushes him to maintain peak condition.

The evolution extends beyond just physical preparation. Goldberg emphasized that modern wrestlers have more control over their careers, allowing them to end on their own terms rather than being forced out by injury or circumstances. \”I get to prepare, you know, for a little while as opposed to happen three and a half weeks prior,\” he said, referencing his previous comeback matches that were arranged with minimal notice.

Goldberg\’s ability to compete at 58 while maintaining his intimidating presence demonstrates how the wrestling industry has evolved to preserve its stars\’ legacies while protecting their long-term health, setting a new standard for how veteran performers can approach the twilight of their careers.

  • Bill Goldberg\’s Son Gage Talks College Football and Wrestling Future

While Bill Goldberg prepares for his final wrestling match, his 19-year-old son Gage is carving out his own athletic legacy on the football fields of Colorado, with wrestling serving only as a distant backup plan.

Gage Goldberg, entering his second year at the University of Colorado under Coach Deion Sanders, appeared alongside his father on The Claw Pod, offering rare insight into life as the son of a wrestling legend while pursuing his own athletic dreams.

    Wrestling as a Backup Plan

When asked about potential wrestling interest, Gage acknowledged the possibility while maintaining his focus on football. \”Yeah, I mean it\’s there. It\’s a backup plan,\” he said, demonstrating the measured approach his father has instilled in him about having options while staying committed to his current path.

The younger Goldberg spoke enthusiastically about his experience under Coach Prime, calling him \”the best coach ever\” and praising his teammates at Colorado. He also confirmed the hype surrounding Heisman Trophy winner Travis Hunter, saying \”100%\” when asked if Hunter lives up to his reputation.

Bill Goldberg Talks About His Son

Bill Goldberg expressed immense pride in his son\’s development, emphasizing that Gage has earned everything on his own merit. \”He\’s far surpassed mentally where I was at that age. He\’s extremely responsible. He\’s a hell of a student, much more so than I was,\” the wrestling legend said.

The father was quick to clarify that despite opening doors, Gage has succeeded through his own efforts. \”I have not done anything for him. I\’ve opened a door for him maybe, but he\’s freaking kicked that door completely in,\” Bill explained, highlighting his son\’s work ethic and independence.

Gage recently turned 19 and is preparing to move into his first apartment in Boulder with a teammate, marking another step toward independence. His mother will help with the move, as Bill joked he would only ask \”You guys done yet?\” during the decorating process.

The Goldberg family dynamic offers insight into how wrestling legends balance fame with fatherhood. Bill\’s hands-on parenting approach, combined with his respect for his son\’s independence, shows a different side of the intimidating wrestling persona fans know.

  • Bill Goldberg Reveals Son Will Lead Him to Final Wrestling Match

Wrestling legend Bill Goldberg is preparing for what he promises will be his final match, and this time he\’s determined to end his career on his own terms with his son by his side.

In a recent appearance on The Claw Pod with Ross and Marshall Von Erich, the 58-year-old former WCW champion revealed that his 19-year-old son Gage will lead him to the ring for his farewell bout.

\”There is one thing that I can say about my match is that I will be proudly led out by my son,\” Goldberg announced, providing the first concrete detail about his upcoming retirement match.

Unlike his previous comeback matches that were arranged with just weeks\’ notice, Goldberg is taking time to properly prepare for this farewell.

\”At 58 years old, the fact that I\’m stepping in the ring, there\’s a reason for it. The reason for it is that I get to put a stamp on my career as opposed to somebody else putting a stamp on it,\” he explained during the interview.

The wrestling icon has been transparent about the mental hurdles of returning to the ring at nearly 60. \”Mentally is probably the toughest part because I don\’t see the same dude in the mirror that I used to see when I used to get ready to go out there and do my thing,\” Goldberg admitted, offering rare insight into the psychological challenges facing aging athletes.

The former champion described his relationship with his son as central to his life, saying he wakes Gage up every morning and puts him to bed every night when he\’s home from college.

The announcement comes as Gage prepares for his second season playing college football at the University of Colorado under Coach Deion Sanders.

  • Goldberg Teases Location Of Retirement Match in 2025

Goldberg will wrestle for the final time in 2025, ending one of the most iconic in-ring careers of all time. Speaking to My San Antonio, Goldberg remained coy about match specifics, but shared where he intends his farewell to take place.

“It’s going to be in the South. This gives me the opportunity to put a stamp on my career in front of the people I care the most about.”

Goldberg made his name in wrestling as part of WCW, a promotion that hosted most of its biggest events in Southern United States. A native of Atlanta, Georgia, Goldberg\’s biggest moment, capturing the WCW World Heavyweight Championship from Hollywood Hogan, would take place in the South.

As for Goldberg\’s opponent, that still remains a mystery. Many have pointed at GUNTHER, who had an altercation with Goldberg at the WWE Bad Blood PLE (also in Georgia.) With Goldberg announcing his retirement plans shortly after his face-off with the Austrian, it\’s no wonder why many believe the Ring General will give Goldberg his send-off.

No matter who, where, or when, Goldberg\’s send off will be a huge final chapter for the WWE Hall of Famer. Stay tuned to SEScoops for the latest on Goldberg\’s in-ring farewell.

  • Goldberg Won\’t Rush Preparations For Retirement Match

Bill Goldberg will wrestle his final match in 2025 and is focused on giving a match worthy of a retirement. Speaking on the latest edition of the CarCast podcast, Goldberg provided a small update on his training.

“I feel a little bit better, I’ve gained a little bit of weight man. Done a little kickboxing on the weekends. I’m getting there man, I’ve got a little bit of time left. Slowly but surely, Rome wasn’t built in a day.”

Goldberg admitted that his not overdoing things to avoid risking an injury has been \”really tough\” but he is pleased to be on a good schedule and \”injury free as of right now.\” Given that he was in a vehicle, it was fitting that Goldberg discussed his efforts with an automobile analogy.

\”It’s like rebuilding a car. You’ve got to strip it down to the bare minimum and sequentially build it in a logical form. It applies with a vehicle, it applies with your body. I can’t get overzealous and put s*** on before it’s time.\”

No opponent has been confirmed for GUNTHER\’s final match, though many believe GUNTHER will give the Hall of Famer his sendoff. For now, Goldberg remains focused on honing his body for the match, no matter how long the process takes.

  • Latest On Bill Goldberg\’s WWE Return, Retirement Plans

In November 2024, Bill Goldberg announced that his final match will take place in 2025, just weeks after making a surprise appearance at WWE Bad Blood. His upcoming retirement has sparked speculation among fans about how the legendary former WCW World Champion will be sent off.

According to WrestleVotes, Goldberg’s name has recently resurfaced in internal WWE discussions—the first mention since his Bad Blood appearance. The report notes that a return appears to be “nearing,” though no opponent has been confirmed as of yet. At Bad Blood, Goldberg confronted GUNTHER, leading many to believe the longest-reigning Intercontinental Champion could be his final opponent.

Goldberg has suggested that his retirement match may happen this summer, potentially bringing his storied career to a close within the next few months. Stay tuned for updates on what promises to be a significant final chapter in Goldberg\’s career.

  • \’About Time\’ – Goldberg Teases Imminent WWE Return

Bill Goldberg could be on his way back to WWE programming very soon judging from a post by the former WCW World Heavyweight Champion. Taking to X, Goldberg shared footage of his return to WWE in late 2016 after over a dozen years away. Goldberg added that his return to WWE is nearing as it\’s \”about time to replicate this.\”

Goldberg shared in 2024 that his retirement match will come in 2025, though he stopped short of giving an exact date, location, or opponent for his in-ring farewell. Many fans have predicted that GUNTHER will be Goldberg\’s last opponent following a segment at the WWE Bad Blood Premium Live Event last October.

Goldberg has been working hard to ensure his body delivers a match fitting his retirement from the ring. On social media, the WWE Hall of Famer has shared photos from his workouts and has revealed he has undergone stem cell therapy to deal with past injuries. Whatever comes, fans can expect quite the send off for the wrestling icon.

  • Buff Bagwell and Bill Goldberg End 25-Year Wrestling Feud

A real-life beef between two of World Championship Wrestling\’s most iconic stars has been settled, a quarter of a century after tensions first begun. On his YouTube channel, Marcus \’Buff\’ Bagwell was happy to share that his issues with WWE Hall of Famer Bill Goldberg are a thing of the past.

According to Bagwell, the issues between them stemmed from a humble gym workout in the late 1990s. At the time, Goldberg believed that Bagwell was mocking him for grunting as he pumped iron, when it was in fact a different WCW star to blame.

\”Lex Luger made the sound. He was impersonating Herman Munster. I didn’t even do it!\”

During a recent live-stream fundraiser to help with medical costs for Brian Knobbs, Bagwell finally got a chance to explain the truth to Goldberg. Now, Goldberg knows that Bagwell never disrespected him and the pair have been able to make amends.

\”Thank God Bill finally knows in his heart that Marc Bagwell never did anything intentionally wrong or ugly to him. It just makes my heart warm to know that Bill [knows the truth].\”

Real-life issues in wrestling are a common thing and some wrestlers go to their graves without forgiving those they believe have wronged them. Thankfully for Buff and Bill, they now know the truth and can let go of the resentment they have held on to for the past 25 years.

  • Nic Nemeth Claims Goldberg Match Could\’ve Hospitalized Him

Nic Nemeth was fortunate to avoid a lengthy stay in a hospital bed after wrestling Bill Goldberg, according to the former TNA World Champion. On X, Goldberg shared a clip of the pair\’s SummerSlam 2019 collision telling fans \”be careful what you wish for.\” Nemeth, who was squashed in the match, clarified that the match only came about as Goldberg wished for it.

When a fan argued that Nemeth is \”known basically for being able to get your ass kicked,\” TNA\’s Wanted Man didn\’t take it lying down. Firing back, Nemeth argued that rather than being \’lucky\’ to face Goldberg, he was lucky to avoid a trip to the hospital.

Nemeth\’s comments suggest that Goldberg was dangerous in the ring, at least in their one-and-only singles encounter. Though never confirmed, many believe the match came about quickly to \’undo\’ the underwhelming performance of Goldberg in his infamous 2019 match with The Undertaker.

Goldberg will wrestle his final match in 2025, ending an epic career that saw him reach the top of WWE and WCW. While it\’s unclear who Goldberg\’s final opponent will be, Nic Nemeth is in no hurry to volunteer after their previous encounter.

  • Bill Goldberg \’Completely Behind\’ His Son Pursuing Pro Wrestling

Bill Goldberg has expressed his support for his son Gage potentially becoming a professional wrestler—if it’s truly what he wants to pursue.

During his appearance on the Ariel Helwani Show, Goldberg said he would stand behind his son’s decision to enter the wrestling business, provided he showed full dedication and commitment.

“Yes, I’d let him do it,” Goldberg said. “If he looked me in the eye and had the conviction in his soul that that is what he was going to put 120% of his attitude and life towards, to be the best, I know he can do it. He can do anything he wants.”

Goldberg emphasized the importance of hard work and criticized a mindset of entitlement.

“Most people can do anything they want; they just have to put their minds to it and be willing to put in the work.

That’s the problem with a lot of people now—they want it for free, they want it to be given to them, and they want respect to be given to them. You gotta work for it.”

He added that he’d support his son in any endeavor “short of being a crack dealer,” and concluded:

“If the kid loves it, then he can do it. I’m completely behind it.”

Gage Goldberg has previously appeared on WWE television, including a brief on-screen altercation with Bobby Lashley. In December 2024, Gage revealed that Triple H had offered him a WWE tryout, signaling serious potential for a future in the ring.

  • Goldberg on John Cena’s Heel Turn: ‘I Could Have Done the Same Thing\’

John Cena’s long-awaited heel turn has had fans and wrestling insiders talking as the WWE icon prepares to end his in-ring career this year. Speaking with Ariel Helwani, Goldberg compared Cena’s transformation to Hulk Hogan’s infamous NWO turn in 1996 before sharing his own nixed turn.

\”I think Cena’s turn is most comparable to Hogan turning. I could have done the same thing, but I refused to.\”

Discussing his refused heel turn, Goldberg said it would have done unparalleled business. Explaining why he said no, Goldberg said thatbreaking the hearts of young fans, especially those who were part of the Make-A-Wish program, was not worth it.

While Goldberg refused an initial attempt at turning heel, he later became a villain at the Great American Bash 2000 pay-per-view. The turn was panned at the time as a desparate attempt by WCW to gain attention without a proper explanation or reason for the turn. Just two months later at WCW New Blood Rising, Goldberg turned face again.

John Cena holds the record for the most Make-A-Wish wishes granted, a testament to his never-ending willingness to deliver. Despite his own reservations about turning heel in front of Make-A-Wish kids, Goldberg has been pleased with what he\’s seen from the WWE icon.

\”I think Cena’s turn is freaking fabulous, no question about it.\”

Both Goldberg and Cena will compete for the last time in 2025, making the end of two iconic careers. It remains to be seen if their paths cross ahead of their respective farewells to in-ring competition.

  • Bill Goldberg: \’I’ll Always Be a WCW Guy\’ to WWE

Bill Goldberg may be a WWE Hall of Famer withh several runs with the company to his name, but he is still a WCW guy at heart. Speaking to Ariel Helwani, Goldberg looked back at his role in the Monday Night Wars.

“I’ll always be a WCW guy… Look at how they treated Sting. We were going head-to-head [during the Monday Night Wars]. We were kicking their ass, they were kicking our ass.\”

Goldberg compared the battle which came to an end in March 2001 as akin to \”a big heavyweight fight\” and reiterated that WWE was \”the enemy\” at the time. With WCW well and truly in the past, however, Goldberg is looking to the future and his retirement match that\’ll come in a WWE ring.

“Paul [Triple H] and I spoke, and we came to an agreement that in 2025, I’d have my retirement match. Don’t know when it is, don’t know who it’s against, but it’s happening.\”

Goldberg would make an immediate impression upon his arrival in WCW and would rack up 173 consecutive wins, though this number is disputed by some. Goldberg would also capture the WCW World Heavyweight and United States Championships, becoming the only man to hold both titles simultaneously.

While his career may be coming to an end, Goldberg’s loyalty to WCW remains strong. Even as he prepares to step foot for the last time in the ring of the \’enemy,\’ his legacy will always be tied to the company that made him a star.

  • The Undertaker on Goldberg Match: It Was Ugly, I Stunk

In a recent episode of his Six Feet Under podcast, WWE legend The Undertaker (Mark Calaway) candidly discussed his infamous 2019 match against Goldberg at Super Showdown. The match is considered one of the worst bouts in the career of both men, and served as a reminder that age was wearing down the legacy of both legends.

WWE had promoted the match as a massive occasion, as one of WWE\’s biggest ever stars fought one of WCW\’s top performers in their first (and ultimately last) collision. Despite WWE hyping up the match, The Undertaker admitted that he failed to deliver in Saudi Arabia.

\”That Saudi thing was a little uglyI stunk the joint out, man.\”

    Challenging Conditions

Competing in a different country can prove to be a logistical nightmare for wrestlers who may be jet-lagged when they step in the ring. For The Undertaker, it was extreme heat in Saudi Arabia that made the challenging match even tougher.

\”It was 9:00 at night and 98 degrees outside… You could chew the air it was so thick.\”

    Goldberg’s Reputation & Circumstances

The match did not help the reputations of either man, as fans who had loved the pair during their respective hey-days felt pity or embarrasment to see the in-ring farce. Despite the match’s failure, The Undertaker defended Goldberg, stating he was \”thrust into something\” and praising him as a \”good dude.\” At nine minutes long, this match was the longest Goldberg had spent in the ring since his 2016 WWE return, and a concussion early into the bout only made things more difficult.

    Reflection on His Career

On the podcast, the 59-year-old Undertaker also reflected on the evolving nature of professional wrestling, admitting that he wouldn’t physically survive some of today’s high-impact moves. As for his one-and-only showdown with Goldberg, the match remains a low point in the Deadman\’s career, and fans would see both men back in the ring soon after, hoping to wash the taste of this match away.

  • Bill Goldberg Eyeing 2025 Royal Rumble Before WWE Retirement

Bill Goldberg will compete in his final match in 2025, but fans may still see the WWE Hall of Famer wrestle in a Men\’s Royal Rumble match. When speaking to Sportskeeda, Gage Goldberg, Bill\’s son, was asked about the WWE Hall of Famer entering next year\’s match to earn a future WWE World Championship opportunity.

“He’d definitely do it. He’d be down for anything. They tell him, ‘Okay, you’re gonna fight this guy,’ he’s gonna do it 100%. Go in the Royal Rumble? He’s gonna do it.”

Should he compete in the 2025 Men\’s Royal Rumble, it\’ll mark his third time in the iconic match stipulation. Goldberg made his Rumble debut in 2004, where he entered from the coveted #30 spot. He lasted 2:04 and scored three eliminations before being tossed out by Kurt Angle. In 2017, Goldberg 3:21 and again scored three eliminations, but this time was eliminated by The Undertaker.

The elder Goldberg shared in November that his final match will come in 2025, though stopped short of giving a specific date. At Bad Blood, Goldberg had a confrontation with World Heavyweight Champion GUNTHER, leading to speculation that Bill\’s final match will be against the Ring General. WWE has yet to follow up on this storyline on TV, with Goldberg instead feuding with Damian Priest and Finn Balor and defeating both to retain his title at WWE Saturday Night\’s Main Event.

Questions remain about Goldberg\’s plans for 2025, but fans shouldn\’t be surprised to see him on February 1, at the 2025 Royal Rumble. Stay tuned to SEScoops for the latest on Goldberg as he embarks on his final year in the ring.

In an interview with Super Car Gavin, Goldberg shared his enthusiasm for the project, stating, “We are filming a new television show for Paramount+, and it’s going to be really cool. I cannot wait.”

  • Goldberg Still Fuming Over Streak\’s End 25 Years After Starrcade Loss

It\’s been over two decades since Bill Goldberg\’s WCW streak ended, though how he was handed his first loss is still a sore spot for the legend. After racking up 173 wins (though many have disputed the accuracy of this number) Goldberg\’s first WCW loss came at Starrcade 1998 to Kevin Nash, thanks to the interference of a cattle-prod-wielding Scott Hall.

The manner in which Goldberg\’s streak ended has often been derided by fans and is seen as one of the many issues that led to the company\’s demise. Speaking to Inside the Ropes, Goldberg explained that while he pitched the electrocution, he originally envisioned something bigger to shock him.

\”If you beat me, you have to put 50,000 volts through me. But for some reason, they didn\’t to do that. Hence the goofy-looking cattle prod.\”

Rather than be lit up \”like a freaking Christmas tree\” Goldberg sold the prod and slumped to the floor before Nash got the win. Over a quarter of a century later, the WWE Hall of Famer remains unhappy as to how he earned the 1 in 173-1.

\”I wanted them to shoot the barbs in me and light me up… I\’m still pi*sed off.\”

Goldberg will be hoping to have a better send-off to his career when he competes in his retirement match next year. Stay tuned to SEScoops for the latest on Bill Goldberg as the WCW legend prepares to say goodbye to the squared circle.
